“Was going with my sister to her appointment at a near by office. She was hungry and wanted something light to eat, so sushi seemed like the perfect choice. Being our first time, we didn’t know there were no menus and it was the chef’s selection. I don’t this guy, we were walking out the door and almost left, BUT, so glad we didn’t because it was amazing! Incredibly unique and delicious food, along with an entertaining education while enjoying our meal. The owners a good guy who takes a tremendous amount of pride in what he prepares for his guests. You’ll love it!“
“Lunch for 2: Got Delux Moriawase, Sunset Roll, and Soba Salad. Soba Salad was a bit small for the price but tasted amazing. Miso soup and salad (comes with Moriawase) were excellent. Sushi was great and Spicy Toro Hand Roll was good as well. Only thing we did not like was the Sunset Roll. Wasabi fraiche and smoke roe did not compliment the flavor of overpriced and ultimately just regular salmon roll with just two gimmicky ingredients. However, everything else was amazing. Tables are very close to each other and it was very loud (mainly due to the four business men next to us were really loud). Still one of the better sushi places in an area already crowded with great sushi restaurants. Certainly will revisit.“
“Okay nothing this good should be in Redondo Beach but it is? Shame on all of the other pretenders. It’s just that superb. Chef Jen scales the culinary heights of Parnassus with ease and grace. A superb experience! You have to slow down and adjust to the tempo of the space and service. You have no better place to go! Trust me!“
“Great small and delicious Japanese Restaurant in the corner of the Fairmont Hotel! The most amazing and fresh fish. Under your eyes rolled sushi and brilliant side dishes, like miso soup, edamame and Japanese appetizers. A place to go and recommend to everybody.“
“Fourth time here, and this time was lovely. Came in on a nice rainy day and started with hot sake and edamame. Then the spicy tuna cut roll with light rice was very fresh. Then we had the salmon crunch roll, which is very perfect with the fried onions! Then some shrimp tempura with vegetables and though everything was cooked to perfection the tempura batter needed to be crispier. It was a little soggy, but other than that everything was delicious. Mochi green tea ice cream dessert was very good. One of the best places for sushi and very reasonable prices which is always a plus. Fresh ingredients and good prices! You can't beat it. Uri was our server and she's always wonderful! Thank you! We will definitely be back.“
“Since this place is doing only take out at the moment, truly excellent take-out experience. I have never seen omakase that doing take out as phenomenal. Everything was incredibly thoughtful and of the best quality I ever had. Especially, this place will serve you takeout as dining plates.“
“First time visiting and we had the omakase. The staff welcomed us like they have known us for years as soon as we walked in. The service throughout the omakase was amazing and the sushi was the best weve had since visiting Japan! Toshisan is passionate and friendly. Cant wait to go back asap! I wish I could keep Toshi Sushi to myself and not tell anyone about it, but they deserve to be successful so I chose to write this review. We are incredibly lucky to have sushi of this quality, at s reasonable price, and in Gardena no less. If you're reading this, dont think about it any longer and just go.“
“First time here tonight (on a Friday) and what a cute place! Love the little wooden bridge as you enter the restaurant, cherry blossom faux tree and Japanese decor. There's even a couple of cute private dining rooms & a small outdoor eating area. Service was attentive and friendly. Shout out to Jose. Food was great! Miso Soup - Seaweed Salad - hubby said it was meh as he didn't eat much of it Black Cod - flavorful, tender & perfectly flaky Mixed Green Salad - great Truffle Salmon Carpaccio - hubby said it was good & fresh Yellowtail Jalapeño - hubby said it was good & fresh Albacore Sashimi - hubby said it was good & fresh King Salmon Sashimi - hubby said it was good & fresh Would definitely come back if in the Santa Monica area again. Oh and love the cute "wallet" the check is placed in & given to you. @travel_lifestyle_chow“
“This place from the moment you walk in the front door is beyond amazing! They’ve done an amazing job of setting one heck of secluded Tulum vibe but while being in the thick of it all. No detail was left out from the lush landscaping and impeccable design throughout to the delicious food and cocktail menu topped off with incredible service. We had the Crispy Rice with yellowtail and shishito peppers for starters both were some of the best we’ve had. We also had the sun fire roll and short ribs and all I can say is yum! You won’t be disappointed with any of the food here. The margaritas we had were “chefs kiss”! Highly recommend!!“
“This is a fairly new location for this restaurant. They have another established location in Santa Monica. This location is in Marina Del Rey right off Washington and Lincoln. Their food and service is excellent. This place is a hidden jewel.“
“Amazing experience! I came here for my birthday dinner and the Tokyo omakase was to die for. One of the best meals I had in my life. The staff is very attentive and has great recommendations for which sake to order, you can tell that they really care about the dining experience. Each course was fresh and delicious and really highlighted the best flavors. I have never enjoyed uni before, but here it was absolutely delicious. I can't wait to be back next time I have something to celebrate.“
“Excellent quality sushi. I usually do the to-go so that it comes with the cute sushi boxes and it's always a fun experience. The sushi is great quality and fresh. The rice is always the perfect temperature and texture. I did not find any free parking when I came here so I recommend coming with someone to get dropped off to run in and pick up the food!“
“worth the price. 20 courses of fish all delicious. i’d say it’s the correct amount of food. sometimes i go to fine dining and im hungry after, but here i was satisfied.somewhat cramped seating. avoid if your a large individual. people wore nice clothing, not overly fancy but business casual.“
“This is a pricier traditional Japanese sushi establishment. I had the Chirashi bowl which was absolutely delicious. You will need to remove your shoes when entering and the seating is low to the floor, as it is in traditional Japan. Underneath the table is a space for you to stretch your legs. The fish was very fresh. The staff is very accommodating. Dishes range from 50 - 100 dollars. The mochi Ice-cream was fire, if you decide to get dessert.“
“It has delightful atmosphere and kids friendly. Fish taco is highly recommended. The Japanese food is modified for some American style, but we still like it. The wait from ordering to the first dish was about 15 minutes. The table is shaking. So I only give four star for service.“
“Great ambiance at this restaurant! It’s a nice surprise to find this on the second floor of Madang Courtyard. The food, although good, is a little pricey for what you get. Even the lunch bento doesn’t feel like a great value. Wasn’t particularly impressed by the service. Overall an okay experience.“
“I recently dined at this sushi restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The freshness of the fish was outstanding, and each roll showcased a perfect balance of flavors. The presentation was artful, and the attentive staff added to the overall enjoyable dining experience. I highly recommend trying their signature rolls – a delightful fusion of traditional and creative elements. A top-notch spot for sushi enthusiasts!“
“Very delicious sushi spot that just blends in with majority of the closed shops near it, especially since the entrance was roped off as if it was actually closed, from the outside. If you’re looking for a kikkoman soy sauce spot, this isn’t for you.Ordered two carpaccios, one with fresh wasabi and ponzu, can’t remember the fish, and another carpaccio, think either halibut or albacore, that had yuzu juice and mushroom and those two dishes were phenomenal. Every bite was simply amazing and irresistible. Great fish quality, not a single piece was questionable in appearance, texture, taste; the quality was delicious. The assorted tempura was crunchy, the batter didn’t disintegrate when you dipped it and didn’t break up when you were biting it. A delicious batter that kept its integrity and highlighted the beauty of each ingredient being used. Loved having a tempura mushroom and the white fish was a unique and different touch. The nigiri- where the begin. All of it was delicious. For a party of two, we each walked away with eating $190 each which is a lot for how much we ordered truthfully but because the quality of the food was better that majority of the places we had, it was worth it and can’t wait to go back. No alcohol either. It was a treat to eat here and treat ourselves. The most delectable and fragile scallops that just melt in your mouth, the albacore was a dance in your mouth as well as anything else that had a drop of yuzu on it. Ended my experience with uni and it was pure velvet. The most underwhelming item I ate was a spicy tuna since I was genuinely curious but I wouldn’t order that again and just stick with nigiri. Each nigiri order is 1 piece and sashimi is 2 pieces. Thank you Jinpachi for a cozy atmosphere and a delicious treat- can’t wait for more!“
“I will definitely say that food is much better when you dine in vs. takeout. Made reservation for 3 on Friday night, and we were seated quickly. It was pretty full when we arrived and started to form a wait line around after 7 pm.This is probably the only place I order spicy tuna roll. as you will see from the photo, the roll is stuffed with spicy tuna. Kinda like spicy mayo tuna. Fish was fresh, and the service was great! Better food and better experience when you dine in for sure.“
“For the price it’s a 10/10 meal!!Service: 10/10Note: make sure to put ur name on wait listWhat I ordered:Scallop sashimi - 10/10, fresh, vibrant flavours.Nigiri sampler- 9/10 very fresh and good quality fish. A little too much rice for me.Burnt garlic ramen- 8/10 I’m more traditional in my flavours. But it’s peoples favourite.Tuna crispy rice 10/10. Can’t complain“
“WOW. This has to be the best omakase place in Los Angeles. WOW.My husband and I are from NYC and we love omakase. We tried a few similarly priced places, but none of them were places we would return to… except Yasu.Yasu is priced extremely well for the quality of their ingredients, the rarity of the fish flown in from Japan, and the incredible service. You’re served piece by piece at the sushi bar, and Chef Yasu explains each piece for you. There are some truly beautiful pieces that also taste delicious (see photos). We also had a langoustine!!! Such a delicacy and served beautifully.I’m sad we didn’t come to Yasu on the earlier part of our trip so that we could go again. We came to Yasu at the end of our trip. We’ll definitely be back. You definitely will not regret coming here. You’ll probably be wondering when you can come again.“
“Fish quality is great. Other stuff is ok. I got sick of the omakase run around (lines, reservation antics) at all the likely places. If you are looking for quality fish, and can accept everything else is being ok, this will work out for you. Chef/owner is attentive, and wants to make sure you have a good dining experience. That sounds like a great experience waiting to happen.“
“Great service! The lady at the register is so sweet with everyone who walks in the door. The sushi was fresh and priced reasonably. My favorite was the Tiger Roll. This place is more for takeout, they have a small seating area but no table service. Order at the register and pick up your order. I only knocked down one star for the wait time. I was told 20mins and it was more like 45mins. They seem really busy so I'd recommend to call ahead or expect to wait. Also, there is a 3.95% card fee if using a credit card so I paid with cash. I'll definitely return.“
“Went back to back days because of the food was so good. The service was impeccable as well as the drinks. The lovely hostess was able to seat me despite it being super packed and I did not have a reservation. Definitely a revisit when in LA!“
“Exceptional! Awesome little spot with an interesting location. Who knew the bottom of an office building could be so well executed as a restaurant? First, the food was amazing. I had the California roll, the avocado roll, and the cucumber roll. All were good, though I thought the California roll had the crab-to-avocado and cucumber ratio mixed up. Too much crab for my liking. Our service was efficient and friendly, quickly filling us up with water and attending to our needs. I would 100% return!“
“Shunji Japanese Cuisine located near Santa MonicaRun by husband and wife Shunii, both very talkative. They almost kept interacting with the guests throughout the dinner. VerykindThe Omakase set meal price is 280$/per. There are 26 noodles in total on the day.Tao is the most filling omakase I have ever eaten. Even the chef said itIndeed, I had a lot of courses that day, usually about 22 courses, and the price/performance ratio was super high!My favorite is tomato tofu and cod liver toast (Picture 56)Shirako sushi is also very specialThe other two performances were also on par. However, I may have eaten too much at the beginning and was a little tired and full at the end, which made the impression of desserts mediocre.I still love this place and will visit again.Next door, there is Shunji's apprentice Miki's omakase room. I heard that the styles and tastes are different, so you can try it out!Shunji Japanese Cuisine located near Santa MonicaRun by husband and wife Shunii, both very talkative. They almost kept interacting with the guests throughout the dinner. “I loved this place. Everyone there were so welcoming and the Taisho (The head chef) was super entertaining and made me feel like I’ve been there before. They are so proud of what they provide and all the fish are coming from Japan. Not only they are coming from Japan but also coming by first class over night shipping. They take care of their fish so well and I was so impressed when I ate.I’m so picky when it comes to Shari (rice) and yes! They use Akashari, which is red vinegar and rice. Their rice is sooo fluffy so you feel like you can eat a lot!I’m so so happy that I finally went there tonight! I’m hoping to come back soon and thank you again so much for everything!Ah btw, their desert was amazing too! The female chef makes the desert and we loved it!“
“Sushi best in Ktown if you ask me, fresh and tasty ?. Staff is beyond friendly. Presentation of the plates are on point .cute lil spot with lots of great vibes. You might also get lucky and run into someone that might be famous. But the sashimi here is the best.“
“It was a marvelous night out to eat. This place is genuinely incredible - sushi, ramen, bowls, apps & everything. Also the vibe is just chill w great service.Anne was my waitress & she steered me in the right direction w/ the salmon bowl that was fuego. Thanks,Ryan“
“A new cute little gem in the neighborhood! I ordered takeout through the yelp app. I got a dragon roll, California roll and kinpira gobo. When I stopped in, I was immediately greeted, tended to and even received a thank you from the chef for coming by. Got home and the food was packaged nicely, with plenty of sauces, ginger (my favorite) and utensils. I can tell the quality of the food is great as everything tasted super fresh and delicious. This location used to be a boba shop before. I'm looking forward to stopping by and trying more items, especially their matcha. Overall a lovely first impression and seems to be mom and pop owned - I always try to support small business.“
“Super sweet owners and incredibly fresh sashimi. I got the 19 piece platter and was very happy with my meal. This place is a gem. When I went in, I noticed that the owners greeted everyone extremely warmly and had a bunch of regulars coming back. The auntie working the front of the house made me feel like I’m family eating at her house ^____^Definitely give this place a try!!!“
“OMG, everything there - just perfect! There wasn't a single thing here that I didn't like. From the pizza, to two different pasta dishes, to all of the sushi, slider, and bang bang broccoli - it's mouthwatering! Loved the dragon roll, crispy rice, and basically anything with unagi is absolutely fantastic. Wasn't super thrilled with the orange wine (I think that's what it was?) but the house white was good! This place is a total vibe, for a sexy little vegan dinner date night! Service is incredible, everyone is nice and attentive, and quick with delivery and clearing out plates. Music selection was great. Overall, loved loved loved it! Recommend to everyone and a place I'll definitely be coming back to!“
“1000000/10. I have lived in west la for 7 years and always thought the sushi in la was mid at best. That there was something about the weather that kept it from tasting fresh like east coast sushi. Then I came here. This may be my new favorite restaurant in LA. The sushi is mind blowing fresh and tasty. For the price point it's truly unbeatable. Had no idea it was possible for sushi to taste this fresh. Like wow. I also love that it's comfy seating which is so rare at sushi places. Sage helped me and he was an absolute gem. This is my happy place. I could literally eat here everyday, I had the sushi, tempura, and spider roll all were incredible. I'm so happy I stumbled across this hidden gem“
“Food is good. There are a few veggie choices for vegans. Ttempura vegie dish. We got vegan ramen. One bowl is plenty for 2. The waitress is pretty and very timely. The lighting is what drew us in. We tried to go into other restaurants with extremely white light and felt like we were waiting to be asked 'who dun it?' The lighting and wood walls are warm and comfortable.“
“Every single bite was delicious. Great service with well thought sequences of dishes. Interior was clean and woody. Reminds me of traditional sushi restaurant in Japan. Dishes and glassware were cute and were hand picked by chef's wife. Must try!“
“Great food and beautiful interior! The best plant based place I have ever tried. The flavors are amazing and they have something for everyone. Def a must try. Service was good and attentive. The food is very creative and plated beautifully. And again the interior design is worth a visit all on its own.“
“Just like all the other Hillstone restaurants... meaning it's always exceptional. I've been to at least 15 Hillstone company chain restaurants around the country and they're all fantastic. The sushi is phenomenal, who would think an American style restaurant could do Sushi so good. The pressed Sushi is amazing, as well as all the rolls. Service is always fast and efficient, even when they are busy. Time standards are number one priority with Hillstone and it shows. The speed and consistency is king here. Do yourself a favor and eat here and walk to the pier and help work off all those calories! Lol. Great stuff“
“I had the Fire Cracker Roll and the Curry Udon(vegan). The food is very rich with flavor, you can tell the ingredients are fresh. The chief is very interactive with his customers. The shop is small but makes the atmosphere feel homey. Definitely a good place to come with a small group of friends (3-4). Great experiences. Definitely a place that appreciates quality.“
“it's worth seeking out Kurisaki, probably the best sushi we've had in LA, at least since the 90s when we used to go out to San Bernadino. There's a lot of choice here, delicacies you won't find on menus you might put some blind faith on... The service is super friendly. Next time in LA we will be back.“
“This is probably the most popular place to get your lunch at from students and faculty at El Camino College. Every meeting I'm at around lunch time I see someone eating from Mr. H. I really love their spamasubi and their miso soup. It reminds me of my high school days when people would sell spamasubi from their backpacks. The place has a few tables and chairs to sit on if you are looking to dine in or wait for your food. Cool thing about their service too is they have a buzzer for when your food is ready. Sometimes it takes a little long to get the food to come out but it's always hot and ready to eat when they do.“
“Came here solo for dinner and wow, what a cool concept… one roll at a time! I got 6 for $29 and it was the perfect amount to taste all flavors and just enough to fill me. Service was great and the beers were reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend for a chill date night. The salmon and scallop roll were the best! I wish I could have tried more and or the dessert.“
“I tried the ribs and they were exceptional, the cole slaw and fries were very tasty, the price is high but it is normal for BH. The recommended wine was not the right one, and the cost is high per bottle, but again, typical for LA in general. The atmosphere and the place are good, the service too, you usually have to wait in line, from what we saw there is always a waiting list. Totally recommended.“
“We sat at the communal table and enjoyed looking at the aesthetically pleasing feasts our neighbors ordered! We shared a bento box with fresh sashimi, crispy tempura, and warm side meats served with colorful condiments. Once we placed our name on the waitlist, we enjoyed a stroll until our number was called. The portions are generous, and the atmosphere is friendly, both from guests and servers. Next time, we will order the soups and noodle combinations.“
“The best ingredients, the best technology, and the best hospitality, all of which are the best. It's not a formal atmosphere, there are always smiling faces, and best of all, you can enjoy each piece of sushi carefully! This is a store I would definitely like to visit again.“
“Always a pleasure. The hand rolls are simple yet delicious. In terms of freshness, the fish didn't blow me away, but the overall quality of the rolls is high. It was about $28 for 5 hand rolls, and I felt like I needed one more to be satisfied. They have several locations and I will definitely be returning.“
“Top # sushi in LA. Very 80s interior but not by design. The food is also retro but its next level. All the untraditional dishes with fried onion or garlic, seared pieces and baked cod is bomb! The size of the fish and rice is also perfect (I dont like giant cuts or too much rice) Highly highly “
“Food and service were excellent. Order the soft shell crab roll with spicy tuna. ( not on the menu but was recommended). Delicious!!!quality of fish and presentation was amazing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It was excellent.“
“one of the best omakases we have had in LA (ex-NYC here) and supreme service. it’s $100 table vs $180 counter for omakase which is probably why the counter is not packed everyday (we couldn’t understand why!). they have outdoor tables too. park at 141 Robertson in the garage. it’s free for the first 2 hours then $3 after!“
“Best omakase for the value in South Bay. Owned by a Japanese husband and wife duo in a strip mall corner. Parking has always been available every time we’ve been here, and we’ve came over 6+ times now. Go often and keep them in business for years to come!“
“Where do I even start. I rarely go on Yelp and give reviews, but after going to this place multiple times, I must share the hard work this restaurant puts out. This is truly a gem in Playa Del Rey. Everything about this place is just amazing. It's a small and intimate spot close to the water and has the softest sushi out there. Every bite the fish melts in your mouth and just shows you how good simple and good ingredients can get. I've tried multiple places looking for good sushi but nothing compares. I will say, it is a bit pricey but 100% worth it. The service may be a little slow at times but you gotta give the staff a break when they are working so hard. They are all so polite and make sure you're table is always clean.“
