Overall, it’s one of the stronger Korean BBQ options in San Jose. The only improvement would be offering more variety in banchan sides.

“Mina's Korean BBQ is a cozy, family-run Korean restaurant in North San Jose with a welcoming neighborhood feel. It’s a good place for traditional Korean comfort food, generous portions, and plenty of banchan without the higher prices of some upscale Korean BBQ restaurants.
The Galbi is one of the standout dishes, with tender Korean-style BBQ short ribs that are savory, slightly sweet, and nicely marinated. The Bulgogi is another solid choice, with thin slices of flavorful marinated beef. If you want something warm and comforting, the Soon Du Bu comes bubbling hot with soft tofu and your choice of meat, while the Galbi Tang is a hearty short-rib soup.

I came here with a group of friends, and we had an absolute blast. The private rooms were super clean, comfortable, and had great soundproofing — we could sing our hearts out without feeling self-conscious. The song selection was huge, with both English and Korean options (plus plenty of recent hits). The sound system was crisp, and the mics actually worked perfectly the whole night — which isn’t always the case at karaoke spots!

Every course came out perfectly cooked, generously portioned, and beautifully presented. We worked through a starter each, mains, and a shared dessert at the end, with the staff quietly bringing out a little candle for the birthday in the middle of our group without us having to ask. I always find service to be so friendly and kind. They are a small team but do their best to chat with you and make recommendations.

We typically get a 1-meat combo which is more than enough for our 2-3 person family. The portions are huge and the banchan is refilled so unless you're craving tons of different meats, no need to order a ton more.

I also love their tofu soup, it's not too oily and also keeps well if you have leftovers.

The interior is clean and well kept so you'll be comfy with a group anywhere from 2-6 people. Larger groups might be harder to accomodate but I've never had to reserve for under 6.“

“If you’re looking for comforting Korean food in the South Bay, Hansang Tofu in Milpitas is definitely worth a visit.

I tried both the seafood soft tofu soup and the Budae Jjigae (Korean Army Stew), and everything was satisfying. The soft tofu in the seafood soup was incredibly silky and delicate—exactly what you want from a great Sundubu-jjigae. While I personally found the seafood soup base at Shin’s Tofu House to be a bit heartier and more intensely flavorful, the version at Hansang Tofu was still absolutely delicious and something I’d happily order again.

The real standout for me was the Budae Jjigae. I actually prefer Hansang Tofu’s version because they don’t skimp on the ingredients. The pot was generously loaded with meats, vegetables, noodles, tofu, and all the good stuff, making every bite hearty and satisfying. It felt like a complete meal with plenty of variety in every serving.

Another thing that impressed me was the banchan. Hansang Tofu offers a wider and more craveable selection than many Korean restaurants I’ve visited. The tofu banchan was especially delicious, and the seasoned potatoes were so good that I kept reaching for more. Those little side dishes really elevated the entire meal.

Overall, Hansang Tofu delivers comforting Korean food with generous portions, excellent banchan, and one of my favorite Budae Jjigae dishes in the area. I’ll definitely be coming back.“

The regular jokbal was lukewarm even though this isn't cold style jokbal. But the spicy jokbal was right out of the wok/pan so that was nice.

Both the regular style and the spicy style had great flavors, especially the spicy jokbal. The extra cost is definitely worth it. Get either half and half, or just the spicy.“

“The rose ddeok-bokki is pure decadence, an absolute dream if you love creamy dishes. If you add cheese on top, the cheese gets that blowtorched, charred flavor. I love the chew of the rice cakes. The cabbage adds pops of sweetness to the dish and although it is cooked, it has a satisfying crisp to it. The fish cakes rounds out the dish with its savoriness. I do feel like it could be better with fresh green onion on top though. Nevertheless, it keeps me coming back.“

“This is a family run restaurant that is reminiscent of tent style eateries in Korea. We loved the banchans. The meat was top notch with top sirloin, ribeye, and the Kurobota pork belly was ace! Squid potato pancake was also yum! I will say the minimum of two meat servings will be enough to serve two adults and two kids. We ordered a third just in case and came back home with some that will turn into a delicious fried rice. The three servers were very warm and hospitable. We have a serious peanut allergy in the family and the server took it very seriously looking at all the ingredients and reporting back to us what may be contaminated vs not. This gave us a peace of mind and we are really well because of it! They work exceptionally hard and looking at the negative comments it seems those to be just an off day as it’s hard for me to believe it being other than fantastic. We came back to this restaurant after 16 years (it was a place my now husband and I loved before we got married and had kids). It felt upgraded but just the same! It was a great place to visit after our trip to Korea. I wish we took pictures, but we were too busy eating everything up!!“

“I became a fan of Woomihome after the second visit! Friends recommended Woomihome and I finally got to try it. I saw that they have meal kits, pre-made hearty soups, and side dishes. So far we have had spicy and sweet chewy noodles, steamed shishi peppers, yeolmu kimchi and braised beef in soy sauce. Everything we tried was tasty and did not disappoint. Woomihome has excellent customer service and it looks like it has a great system in place. The side dishes might be a tad bit pricier compared to Korean markets, but I can see that their quality and freshness speak volumes!“

“This is one of the higher-end Korean restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. The decor is modern and clean, and the staff were friendly and attentive.

One thing to know is that the side dishes can be refilled as often as you want, which is nice, but you only have 75 minutes for the meal. We ordered the Wagyu Galbi, Mixed Tofu Soup, and Kunjip Tofu. Everything was good, but honestly, I’m not sure the food was good enough to make the 2.5-hour round trip worthwhile for us.

The restaurant has a decent-sized parking lot, but it can fill up pretty quickly. I’d recommend putting your name on the Yelp waitlist about 15–30 minutes before you arrive and avoiding the busiest hours if possible.

“Hands down the best Korean restaurant in the Bay right now.

I grew up in K-town Los Angeles, and my wife lived in Seoul for over twenty years. We aren’t usually excited about Korean food outside of our hometowns, and rarely so excited that we need to write a recommendation.

As Korean food enthusiasts, we make it a habit to check out all the trendy restaurants on social media, and Kunjip Tofu has been on the hit list for a while. We live nearby, but we’ve been prioritizing all the other restaurants on Eater and Infatuation, since we weren’t really stoked about the generalist menu. Doubly so, since we weren’t super impressed with the original Kunjip (which is great, don’t get me wrong, just nothing to write home about). Boy were we wrong.

Kunjip Tofu is focused on doing the fundamentals really well. First of all, all ten banchans (Korean side dishes) were on point. It’s really hard for a restaurant to serve one good banchan item. The greats can successfully serve 2-3 good ones. But Kunjip Tofu makes 10 home runs. That’s really rare even among fine dining restaurants.

Then there are the main dishes. We must’ve both eaten bulgogi at least a thousand times in our lives, at hundreds of different restaurants across the US and in Korea, and this one is literally the number one for both of us. They are using really good quality wagyu beef, so the floor is already high, but the recipe is really tasteful and just executed really well.

We also had the spicy oxtail jjim, which was also really good and could probably hold it down as a spinoff restaurant by itself, like the original Kunjip. But Kunjip Tofu is all about the variety, and making each dish really good.

If you come in a group, make sure to order different dishes, and share a bit of each with everyone, so you can try what the best of the best can do for each dish.

We are already looking forward to being back and trying the other stuff on the menu.“
