“Higher-end, likely one of the best Korean BBQ places in Silicon Valley! Stylish decoration and ambiance are appropriate for the cuisine and culture. Good service with refills on side dishes. Beyond the barbecue, a-la-carte items are good also with no skipping on the ingredients!“
“3.5 STARS Date: Saturday, April 6th, 2024 Time: 3pm Meal: Birthday Late Lunch / Early Dinner Part of: 6 Reservation Made: via Yelp about 1.5 weeks earlier Dinner BBQ & Hot Pot ($37.99) x6 *Japanese Miso *Healthy Herb x2 *Thai Pot: Vegan Spicy x3 *Pork Belly x2 *Ribeye x4 *Spicy Pork Belly *Pork Belly x2 *Pork Jowl x2 *Garlic Shrimp x2 *Galbi Marinated Short Rib x6 *Seapot Angus Beef x2 *Beef Tongue *Steam Rice x3 *J Lohr Cabernet 2019: 375ml ($23) *Sapporo Pitcher ($25) *Original Bottle Soju ($13) *Peach Bottle Soju ($13) *18% Tip ($54.35) For a friend's bday, we decided to do a late lunch at Seapot. I believe on weekends they are open all day and the dinner price applies all day as well. Tip was automatically added to the bill, but I think that was because we were a party of 6? I do adore Seapot for their conveyor belt offerings. I tend to like variety. And I gravitate towards a lot of veggies and seafood. So it's nice they are readily avail in small portions. I don't feel like I have to eat a portion of veggies for the whole table if no one else wants some. Also, super convenient since we don't have to wait for the server to bring those items out. Meat wise (and some seafood), you have to order thru the server. And there's a time limit of 90 mins. Unfortunately this took a while, so we were only able to order one round before the server came back for last call. For bigger parties, they should give two hours as that's not enough time to cook and eat everything. (We still had uncooked plates when they came back for last call.) There's only one grill at a table for 6. It's definitely not enough time to get your korean bbq on. For an AYCE place, this was one of the first times I didn't really leave full. Drinks wise, we had a red wine drinker, so we tried to order a bottle of red wine. The first bottle, they were out, so I asked about two other bottles. They were out of those too. He could only offer a bottle we didn't want, so we ended up with a half bottle of something we originally asked about. Corkage here is $25, while the average bottle was around $40-$50, so it didn't seem worth it to cork anything. I think if we had a smaller party, it would have been fine. But for a larger party, I don't think it's worth coming here. The time limit isn't really enough to take advantage of the AYCE.“
“Myself and four friends went last night for karaoke and dinner. I hadn't been here since it was the Gold Rush Cafe and I'm so happy that they got a liquor license. I got a cheeseburger with tater tots and that cheeseburger was fabulous. Broiled and a thick patty. The bun could be a little bit less processed. I really wish they would change out their hamburger buns. My friends all got different things. My best friend got a pulled pork sandwich and she also said that the bun was very prefab but the pulled pork was excellent. Another friend got chicken enchiladas and he was happy with them. Another friend got chicken tenders and fries, and she liked those. I can't remember what the other person got or maybe I don't even know, lol! Alan was the KJ last night, and I guess he does karaoke every Wednesday there from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM. He's hilarious. He does his schtick in a Wolfman Jack voice and he's awesome. Makes everybody feel like they're the star. I will definitely go back again. Clean bathrooms. I sure wish they would change out their hamburger buns.“
“Great service, great food. Order a 3 meat plate with pulled pork, brisket and baby back ribs. The brisket and the pulled pork was an amazing and the ribs was ok. As a side, I ordered a mac & Cheese and potato salad and both were delicious. Highly recommend this spot.Kid-friendliness: They have a table games for the kids and the environment is very welcoming“
“Kal's consistently delivers old-school meaty goodness. I'm going to guess that I have eaten lunch at Kal's for around 15 years. And always the same thing. Steak 40. A steak sandwich with fries. I've seen the Lockheed Martin engineers and their pocket protectors fade away over time, but the Kal's faithful remain. Served by the same Kal's team for who knows how long. I always enjoy the food here and I love the dated, old school vibe. Is Kal's the best in town? Probably not. Is it consistently satisfying food served up with love year after year. Absolutely. I relocated from the Bay Area over 5 years ago but I make it a point to return to Kal's at least once per year.“
“My friend was hyping this place up so I decided to see if he spoke some truth to his statements. It didn't disappoint, but it didn't hit it out of the park either. Interior is very presentable. Clean and new. There are a lot of choices to pick from, but you get a limited quantity per category. You have their base, two base toppings, two scoops of protein, five toppings, two sauces (unfortunate), and then two sprinkles. The taste of the fish by itself is okay. Sauce is really good though. I was surprised at how much it was (about $3 more than what I'm used to paying) but their portions are very generous. I could not finish my bowl in one sitting when I always do. Hopefully the next time I come back, I'd find my go-to recipe!“
“My husband had the ribs, which were so juicy, tender and flavorful. I had the Mac and cheese, which was decent, black eyed peas, which were saltier than I like but still good, the rice and gravy, taste like my Granny's so good! Yams, amazing! And greens, I like mine a little more spicy, but they were very tender and flavorful. Looking forward to trying more on our next visit. Also not over priced and very nice portion sizes.“
“First time visiting this place after seeing it on yelp. Looking for a great skewer place that was authentic (thinking of China). As we approached the entrance we were greeted by an amazing smell of grilled food. Everyone seemed very excited and the wait was long due to many hungry customers. The staff was very friendly and the food even before eating, I know it is fantastic just from the smell and looks.“
“The food was very good. I have never been to Caribbean to compare the authenticity of this place…but I was more than satisfied. There is limited parking and seating…which is the only downfall.Parking: There are only a few spots. Most of them are painted green as well (15 minutes).“
“We booked a cooking class through Classpop and had such a great time learning to cook! The place had a parking lot so parking wasn’t a problem. We loved that after the cooking class, we were giving enough time to enjoy our food and even had leftovers to bring home. 10/10 recommend! Thanks for making my partner’s birthday so memorable!“
“Though BBQ items were served a bit cold, they were quite good. The well-cooked Tri-Tip was so tender as if they'd melt in my mouth. They know how to do BBQ but the food needs to be served warmer. I also liked the corn bread. Small eatery. Simple setting. Self-service. Cheap utensils. For the price they charge and the sake of cutting meats, they should have invested better cutleries. They also run food truck around the area.“
“By far the best tasting bbq in the Bay Area. Not only is the food great but the staff are ridiculously friendly. Gregory is the nicest guy. When we showed up towards the end of the day he went out of our way to accommodate our order even though they had run out of some of the popular meats and sides.“
“This place is still here! Still serving out delicious fresh food! The customer is top notch! The food is fresh and there’s a large selection. They cook it fast and easy! Highly recommended! 40years and still going strong! Thank you guys for the hospitality and delicious food!Parking: Small parking lot“
“Casual hawaiian eatery located in the Maplewood Plaza. Bright space with wooden chairs and tables inside, and a few tables outside too. Employee took my order at the front counter (standard service), though there's a self-order kiosk as well. Order was ready in 5-10 minutes, no other customers at the time. Got the mini loco moco, and the meat, gravy, mac salad, everything was flavorful and satisfying... the mini size was sufficient for a filling meal. Based on taste, I'd say this would be one of my top 2 hawaiian spots in the south bay.“
“A taste of New Orleans in Los Gatos. As close as you can get to the bayou without flying. All dishes are on point.Great Fried Chicken Po Boy sandwich with Cajun fries. Had the lunch combo which also came with a beer. Hush puppies were good but not necessary. Rich mans beans and rice is quite good.Parking: Parking behind the restaurant“
“The braised ribs are delicious, but expensive. The msg flavor of the soup was too strong. It's difficult to order by phone. The staff did not even accept Junhwawa. Do you feel like business is so good that you don’t need to receive it?“
“The food is great, the problem could be that your food may sit there on the window from the kitchen waiting for it to be given to you for a while, and it does get cold… so you may need to monitor once it is there to try and get it picked up…Other than that, is a nice place…“
“The dinuguan was a little sour but that is expected, sinigang as well. More veggies for the sinigang would have been nice. Service was fine. Names of the food by the container would have been helpful as to not offend the cashier when you ask for that "crispy shrimp thing on top of something fried."“
“Absolutely the best Korean food in the area: delicious side dishes, fulfilling portions of food, and extremely flavorful. They also have the BEST seafood pancake I’ve ever had. Amazing restaurant overall, highly recommend (from an Asian person)!!!“
“Regular spot when I'm in the bay. Long wait time is normal during dinner. Just make sure you check and join the waitlist on yelp. Lots of options for AYCE. The food came out insanely fast just a couple of minutes after taking the order with the pad.Lastly, it's 2024 and still a bunch of uneducated peeing on toilet seats #SMH #animals“
“A colleague and I went to lunch at a restaurant in a business district with ample parking.Debbie, our server, provided excellent service. We ordered pizza, chicken strips with fries, and a steak sandwich. The pizza had a delicious flavor and fresh ingredients. The chicken strips were juicy and flavorful. The steak sandwich could have used more seasoning, but it was still enjoyable overall. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere, with multiple televisions for watching sports, a pool table, and a dartboards.“
“Our favorite KBBQ place in the bay area hands down! Every single one of their banchan (side dishes) is delicious. Their set meals are amazing deals for the price, and the ladies who work there take care of you like they were your mom. They work very hard, always check if you need more side dishes, give free desserts and sides on the house, and make sure the food is all consistently great. The set meals are even better with larger parties, but we often just go as a party of two!“
“Tried the soft tofu (fish egg) for the first time and was amazed with it. Also the supplement dishes on the table were amazing without exception. Note: medium spice is good enough, anything higher might overwhelm you but decide for yourself of “
“I ate the pork set (jeongjeongsal + pork belly + seasoned pork neck)! It said it was for 2-3 people, but it was enough to feed 4 people. I was impressed because it felt like I ate it in Korea... and the price isn't that expensive.ㅡIt was so delicious that I went again the next day, and this time they also grilled kimchi next to the pork belly... It was really good.“
“We came here for our family Easter lunch and glad that we were seated right away. We opted the table with stone grill for yakiniko, since we can also order sushi there if we want to. We opted for the Omakase Stone Grill Meat for 2-4 persons. It came with wagyu beefs, toro, short rib galbis, prawns, squids, pork belly cuts and sausages. The set also came with wagyu beef clay pot rice. We also ordered miso soups and ahi poke salad for starters. I think the portions were generous and the food tasted great. Clay pot rice was mom’s favorite, though it wasn’t served in a clay pot so no crispy rice on the bottom like I was expecting. Our server was very nice and attentive without being disruptive. Definitely would go back again. However, a constructive criticism for the management. Pls keep your floors and bathroom clean at all times. It was just 12 noon and floor was filthy and bathroom smelled like puke. These are what customers usually notice and will judge the cleanliness of the entire restaurant!“
“Definitely a great BBQ spot. The ribs and chicken are the standouts, packed with flavor and just the right amount of tenderness. Their homemade BBQ sauce, and sides are great. It's a BBQ stop so don't expect table side service, but all the people working there are chill and really friendly. Overall a great spot worth stopping at.“
“I usually ordered "Combo 1". This is a Korean BBQ set that the menu said "KOREAN B.B.Q / MARINATED KALBI A. B.B.Q. PREPARED FROM KITCHEN B. SIDE DISHES + VEGETABLE PANCAKE + JAB CHAE C. CHOOSE ONE : TOFU SOUP OR BEAN PASTE STEW D. CHOOSE ONE : CORN CHEESE OR STEAMED EGG"BBQ is 4 kinds of bbq (beef short rib, bulgogi, pork, and chicken). This is for 2.“
“I came here with my girlfriend for soondubu and dolsot bibimbap. It was pretty good, and there's a generous variety of side dishes. However, they give you plain white rice with your soondubu rather than the preferred purple rice. Also, they won't voluntarily refill your side dishes.“
“Happened upon the restaurant when we were on the hunt for good Korean BBQ. The atmosphere is understated, but food and service was amazing. Truly! The beef was so tender and the banchan was A+. There were 3 very kind employees (owners?) who were so attentive and made it a very enjoyable experience.“
“I think Chungdam is one of the best Korean restaurants in the Bay Area. Understandably its price reflects that ranking.I think its decor is the best. It feels very much like a high priced Korean restaurant. In terms of food, I think only 10 Butchers has better Korean food. But it has more variety, especially vegetarian dishes.Service is good. The BBQ meat is all grilled for you as one would expect when you're paying prices like $85 for kalbi.“
“We went here for dinner on a Thursday. There were 4 people in front of us in line to order. But there was enough seating for all of us. The only problem was - tables. They were not cleaned after people let them. The food was delicious! No two minds about this. In some aspects, even better than Zareens. We ordered their Lamb chops, Grilled fish, Signature Chicken Tikka, Signature Seekh Kabob and Garlic Naan. Seekh Kabob and the grilled fish was just okay. But the Signature Chicken Tikka and Lamb chops were divine! To wash all the food down, we also ordered Cane Sugar juice. It was pressed fresh in front of us.I will definitely be back for more!“
“This was my first time having it so I picked a combo plate I had brisket pork beans ribs cornbread from the first bite that I had it it was so delicious to the last bite I most definitely will come back so if you're into barbecue you definitely going to stop by and have it pick the combo it gives you two entrees cornbread or rice then aside then we also ordered a side of burnt ends but make sure you eat it while it's hot it was so good and melted in my mouth.“
“We were not the most organized group of people when we came here. No one knew what they wanted we were a decently sized group and it took a while to get everything explained and handled. Their treatment of us was amazing they seemed to go out of their way to assist us and to be patient with us. The food was good I would definitely highly recommend coming here! Again the service was top-notch the kind of service that I appreciate when I go out to eat! Keep up the great work and if you are in the area go visit them!“
“Came for lunch with a group on Fri. We were greeted by amicable staff, service was fairly quick. Ambiance is unique and you can smell the meat before you walk into the establishment. Restaurant was clean with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It was bustling and customers seemed content. The chicken BBQ sandwich was good, sauce was decent, nothing spectacular but overall good as well as the beans. Berry cobbler pie was delicious.“
“We had a great time here. Got greeted by the hosts with great hospitality. The ambiance atmosphere was great. The restaurant was decorated with cozy and warm theme. The food was very good. Tasty banchan. Delicious and warm tofu stew. The bibimbab had the right flavors. At the end of the meal, the host brought two rice cracker packs and one special probiotic drink for my baby. Thank you!Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian dishes.Kid-friendliness: Kid’s high chairs and utensilsWheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair entrance and tables“
“Seafood Tofu is pretty good. I always get spicy for my soup and they make it spicy enough for the kick and not overpowering. The broth had the right taste of the cooked seafood of shrimp and clams. They add on egg that pretty much cook though so breaking the yolk wasn't possible. Maybe I'll ask them to stir it next time or leave it out. It comes with purple rice and add an order of spicy cucumber cause I didn't see Kim Chi on machine to order. I'd definitely be coming back.“
“Niki-niku, cook meat and shrimp at each table. Fresh and tasty. A few choices already cooked. Some salad and several veggie items. Large choice, various cuts of meat from which to choose. Small plates so fun to taste various dishes. The chicken wings are crisp and delicious. Cold air helps to mediate the heat of the grill. Glad I had a jacket. Service helpful and there when you need them.“
“Food here is delicious and you get large portions for the price. Usually takeout but recently came with 6 other people for lunch. Courteous staff and prepared food in timely manner. My go to place for chicken katsu plate, bowl, or musubi. Katsu sauce is not my thing so when I ask them to leave it out they always get it right. Wish the containers were compostable though.“
“This is a restaurant where you can eat authentic Korean food.We ordered ribs, sundubu, pancakes, and cold noodles. All the food has a strong tasteIt's very delicious and very satisfying. In particular, Sundubu has a strong soup stock. It was very delicious. The staff were very kind and we had a great time. This is a store I would like to visit again.“
“I had the Italian sausage sandwich. When I received it I looked simple and disappointing. But my God when I bite into the sausage, I've never had anything better. It is worth the taste. Will definitely come back to try the other sandwiches“
“Pros: Nice and friendly staff, yummy food, well cooked brisket, yummy corn, spacious and different seating options. They have veggie and chicken options too.Cons: meal size is not big, plastic utensils are negative points. Limited non-pork options“
“We went on Thursday night for the Blues Jam, and it was great. The place was packed, making it a little tricky to find a spot to sit. However, one of the many friendly Patrons allowed us to share his table. The menu has several barbecue options and also Pho, interesting combinTionI ordered the barbecued chicken and two sides. It was hot with a nice flavor and the price was good. The salad wasn't special, with crisp romaine and diced tomatoes. It was nice and fresh, but just those two ingredients. We are going back again, but a little earlier this time“
“Excellent meat quality and variety of side dishes that will satisfy all different tastes in food. Magical hole in the wall kinda place. But be sure to make a reservation as it gets full very quickly. One of my favorite places in the south bay.“
“Amazing experience!•This marks the fourth time I have been here since their opening and they have yet to disappoint. I love their small combo and I always get their seafood pancake.•Service was perfect. We had Dane as our server this time and he was great. The meat was well cooked and he was always attentive with our needs.•The restaurant itself is big but it can get quite busy, especially the weekends. However, there are reservations but I came in thirty minutes early prior to when I wanted to eat for the waitlist instead. Other than that, the vibes are nice and everything is well decorated!“
“Writing this review as I sit finishing my wine after a full three delicious courses. I’m visiting a friend in Mountain View and had to fend for myself for dinner this evening. I couldn’t have picked a better place (apart from the Italian I discovered last night - but that’s totally different)! Do not miss the ribs wrapped in bacon to start, then I had melt in your mouth brisket as part of a plate (amazing corn bread!) and I just couldn’t resist the Nanana dessert despite feeling pretty full. Absolutely ace place. Yours truly, a London girl.“
“Amazing authentic cantonese food. Originally called "Cooking Papa". Not sure how to describe the experience. I have been here multiple times. It is Hong Kong style home style cooking with so much more. We ordered 8 different dishes (eggplant w/fish, sauteed peas sprout, spicy pork, roasted pork belly, stir fry (including lotus root, black fungus, chinese sausage, celery, snow peas, mushrooms) spicy deep fried fish, congee w/fish, egg and sprimp over chow fun and singapore style curried noodles. I still do not know which dish was my favourite. 100% recommend.“
“First time trying hot pot and it was actually pretty good. Everyone gets their own pot for hot pot. In the tablet you get what you want in terms of soup base, noodles, vegetables, meat, drinks. Then at the self serve they have sauces and some other things to add like jalapeno or cilantro. Pretty tasty. And the staff is attentive picking up dishes and filling water. Really nice service today. And even when we asked about vegan and dairy free options they seemed to be very knowledgeable right away.Dietary restrictions: Vegan broth upon asking. Knew dairy free options off the top of his head.“
“Came for a mid length lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fried chicken. Was quite tasty, and I have already recommended this place to friends. I had the secret sauce half and half and the fries were very tasty. Also came with two dumplings which were a pleasant extra surprise.“
“The food was amazing! We ordered the chicken katsu and the BBQ mix. Everything was so flavorful and very generous portions. The macaroni salad was hands down one of the best I've had. If they have it, try out the pinapple cream soda.“
“Really a hidden gem! I have passed this restaurant so many times and never went in. This Turkish food is amazing! There is an option you can sit outside and grill your food in front of you. The meat or kebab sticks sells about $9 per piece, so depending on how many you eat, you pay less or more. The tables are for 8 people but they can also join them for larger groups.I loved the shift kebab. Baklava was amazing, the service was great. They also offer fresh squeezed orange juice.Yummy!“
