Cannot recommend her cakes enough for those who have gluten, dairy, and other dietary needs/ preferences. We had the double layered strawberry guava cake with coconut icing. Also added fruit and flours to the top. Such a treat :)“

“I am foodie from Japan, enjoy once or twice a month hotel buffet in Tokyo. But Orchids Sunday branch menu was the best ever. Not only does it taste good, but it also tastes good, fine scenery, number and placement of staff and their diligence noteworthy.“

“oh my gosh, looked this place up on a whim. seemed to be in a kind of random area so wasn’t sure what to expect but it’s the CUTEST little store!!! they have a beautiful variety of packaged snacks and fresh treats, including puffed rice, manju, dango and of course mochi. the woman working there was incredibly knowledgeable, giving us recommendations and free samples. definitely recommend this place, everything we’ve tried has been absolutely delicious—so soft and just the right amount of sweet. we will definitely be back (especially since we came pretty close to closing this time, so some products were out of stock atm) !“

“Huge fan of Le Crepe Cafe and couldn't wait to eat here when we got to the island! I used to come here with my sister when she lived in Manoa, and the cafe was in a food truck in the Safeway parking lot. I was so happy to see they've found longterm success and are now in a storefront. Excellent savory and sweet crepes, and the coffee was on point. Very friendly girls working too. Can't wait to come back again next time!“

“We make it a weekly habit to come and get our gluten full goodness from the Breadshop HNL. We have been loyal patrons for the past couple of months and this review is long overdue.

First, they have most items available early ish with some of the more pastry ish ones ready later. Please see the attached pictures for details.

Second I definitely recommend getting something beyond the city/country/or baguette. They are staples and are must gets. But expand your options to something else on their menu. It will not disappoint.

They even have rotating special pastries. I would also recommend making a pre order if at all possible since they sell out of many items fairly quickly. Don't show up bummed like I did my first visit haha.

“Great little bakery/breakfast place at Nā Lama Kukui. So many delicious pastries and desserts inside! We stopped in quickly before visiting the new record shop in the building. Ordered a poached pear tart, an iced pistachio latte, and a hot hazelnut latte. They were all very delicious! I was so amazed at the amount of beautiful (and delicious looking) pastry/dessert options they had inside!!! It was our first time visiting and the staff were so patient and helpful. I'll definitely be back to try out some of their other menu options and that chocolate pyramid!“

“I have lived right across from this coffee shop for over a year and I finally tried it. I read reviews about the Hawaiian latte and figured I would give it a try. Definitely delicious and I recommend. I will be back for sure to get that coffee again. I didn’t try any food. It was very quiet and only a couple people in there.“

“Stumbled on this place right off base around lunch time. This “shack” is no fast food joint. Everything is made to order, so it takes about 10 mins to get your food after ordering. But the wait is well worth it!

We ordered the pangang curry and Thai boat noodles. Both were flavorful and fresh! For $12-$13 per meal, this was a large helping. I will say, the Thai boat noodles did have some chunks of lemongrass, cloves, and other sneaky flavor bombs that can get intense if you aren’t careful to pick them out.

“To Thai For has been a mainstay of Waialae Ave since before the pandemic. They are family run and the food is excellent. Highly recommended for families and groups: great selection of well made and delicious food, friendly service, and tasty as can be. Our favorites are the pad kee mao and the panang curry. We definitely enjoy supporting this local spot.“

“This spot is a must in Hawaii, especially for vegans/vegetarians!! If you spot this gem at the kakaako market, or any other market, make sure you get! The owner was super sweet and kind. “This is the perfect spot for lunch and absolutely beats Waikiki. The valet parking is amazing and the atmosphere and servers were amazing. I had the Pork Nacho plate and it is absolutely delicious. This is the best hidden spot for lunch and a splash in the ocean for lunch. The waves are casual at the ocean here and perfect for a mid day swim after lunch!!“

And to enjoy Blue Tree’s “funky-shiek” ambience, cooling A/C, chill music, great healthy, nutritious & delicious grinds, smoothies, juices, coffees & teas, and their very cool, friendly, contemporary staff of baristas led by Manger, Andrew <~> Kevin Aoki, founder/owner, has followed his father , Rocky Aoki’s (Benihana) lead in establishing a memorable brand and high-level chain, next door to his Doraku Sushi ~> I’ve sat with Kevin and he tells me how he travels around the World always looking for unique ideas, concepts, formulas, furnishings, artwork, et al, so as to constantly upgrade his existing, and soon-to-be, restaurants & coffee/tea shoppes... And it is his “little touches” that impress & linger ~ such as me dipping into a most delicious soup-du-jour this afternoon, organic mushroom & potato (yummy !), and savouring both the soup and the inscription written on the inside lip of the soup-cup: “LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL - ENJOY THE RIDE”... and as a committed, commuter bicyclist & environmentalist, this saying & maxim touches me deeply & profoundly ~> Props Kevin Aoki, Andrew, staff, and Blue Tree Cafe... “I was able to order the gingerbread kane and wahine cookies on the last day they accepted orders. I was not sure what to do, but the person who helped us was so patient and kind. I also highly recommend their oatcakes and I wish they still sold them at COSTCO because they are always sold out at the 7-11 stores.“
