“This restaurant was recommended to me by my son. The moment I called in my order I enjoyed the person I was speaking to. They were kind and friendly and informative. I was greeting by that same lovely person when I picked my food up. All the food was delicious but The General Gaus chicken is by far the best I’ve ever had! 10/10! I will definitely be back!!“

“Nice restaurant and the service wasn’t bad. We didn’t like that the dining room was so dark that we couldn’t read the menu and the light bulb above our table kept blinking dim and dimmer. Food could’ve tasted fresher although it was served hot. In all, not bad.“

“My husband and I eat a Bamboo quite often. Last night we went to a function and after the party we were hungry so of course we went to Bamboo and the food was delicious as expected. They NEVER let us down.

We ordered chicken and beef skewers along with crab ragoon as dine in, and we ordered salt and pepper wings, beef fried rice, and beef and broccoli to go.

My husband gave his card to pay the bill. On the merchant copy of the receipt for the tip, he put $0.00. The waitress took the book and walked away. As her back was turned, my husband put $22 dollars in cash on the table. The waitress came back to the table and showed my husband that he put $0.00 on the merchant copy.

My husband, who is always calm, pointed to the cash on the table. Immediately, I had a bad taste in my mouth.

“Decided to walk through Allston on a grody, misty afternoon and look for some food. Walked in by chance and at my SO’s insistence that we give it a look. I loved everything about the aesthetic, and enjoyed the soft music playing in the background. Being able to choose the ingredients I wanted - knowing they were organic and that they looked more than delicious raw...that was the absolute best part. The gentleman at the front was supremely helpful and answered any question thrown at him - by anyone in the shop. The price was more than worth the amount of food received, and the care extended to us as guests was wonderful. I absolutely would recommend anyone to give this a try. “Not bad at all! Everything tasted good, although I wish the hand-cut noodles hadn’t been so uniform in their shape so I didn’t question their “hand” cut ness.
The beef scallion pancake was very nice, and thinly sliced scallion inside reminded me of Beijing duck flavors. It was quite sweet.
The pan fried buns were tasty, though maybe not the best I’ve had in Boston.
I would say that this restaurant has actually Chinese food, but seems very accessible and friendly to non-Chinese people who might be intimidated by anything too authentic.
Despite being quite full on Friday night, there was no wait for a table for 2.“

“I was there at Jian Nan Syosset, Long Island. Everything went great!! But, those took the orders needed to be more educated to understand each dishes. We were a fairly larger group than standard party size. Some dished were small and some dim sum served with small quantities, like 3 or 4. Those who order for the large group, should give suggestion to order multiple orders for the same dish. So, each one in the group can have at least one.“

“We have a new office in Boston. So periodically I drive down from our main office to the Boston location and every time I do, I have resolved to try a new restaurant. This was today’s choice and it was SPECTACULAR! My server was fantastic. The food came out quickly and was insanely good. I didn’t know how big my stir-fried rice cake bowl would be so I ordered the sweet and sour pork loin to go with it. But the rice cake bowl was huge and tasted incredible. Lots of heat, lots of fresh prepared veggies and meat. 10/10 would recommend that dish. The pork tenderloin I tried and 10/10 would recommend it as well. The location is a bit small and that is literally the only nit I can pick. If you’re in this area, get some take out or eat in , you won’t regret it!!“

“Great find, the best fried soup dumplings I've had so far. You can watch them making dumplings through the window. Always fresh and obviously hot from the stove and always delicious. Wontons in spicy sauce is also among my favorites. Hard to get inside table during busy hours but you can sit outside when it's nice out.“

“Pleasantly surprised! The place was actually quite busy on a Friday afternoon. First caveat.. if you do not like lamb do not go here. There was a distinct lamb smell in the air because...lamb is really their specialty! We tried a few things.. beef and lamb, and by far the lamb was better. “I had a great time eating here because the atmosphere is really cool with big statues and a modern look that makes it feel fancy but still comfortable. The lettuce wraps are a must-try because they have so much flavor and are fun to put together yourself at the table. “I had the hand pulled noodles with beef. I wish I took a picture but I was so excited to devour it that it slipped my mind. The beef was cooked incredibly tender and the flavor was on point. The sauce had that indescribable nostalgic scent of home cooked Chinese food. The noodles you could tell were actually hand pulled. Some thicker, some thinner, but all delicious. “I’m surprised this place only got 4 reviews averaging 4. As Chinese who grew up in China this is one of the best and authentic places I’ve had over the years on the east coast. It may not be the fanciest but one of the warmest and most delicious and authentic places. Deserves a lot more traffic and better reviews than it has gotten. Extra bonus: you get to meet a friendly Caucasian waiter who speaks perfect mandarin.“

“Big Fun Claypot is a great addition to Brookline. It's clean and near a green line stop. The servers are polite and attentive. The salt and pepper is perfectly flavored and not dry. The beef chow fun has the wok energy taste but its on the oily side. As for the claypot rice itself, I ordered the eel which had a few bones in it but the eel was seasoned well.“

I had to try it as soon as I got to the car because the smell was intoxicating. It makes me wonder whether places like this even expect to serve non Chinese speakers. The food is great, the price is reasonable, and more people really should try this type of service and cooking.
