“I heard that Tonchin is difficult to get walk-ins for, so I was really excited to get a reservation here. There was a long line of walk-ins when we arrived for our 12pm reservation. The restaurant has a cool modern vibe and good service. Overall there were some things I liked, but nothing was particularly memorable.The kimchi mushroom ($8) was meh and not worth the cost. It was very small, cold, and sour -- just hard strips of oyster mushroom in a chili oil/vinegar flavor. I didn't taste the kimchi flavor.The original maguro ($27) was very good. Lots of great flavors and textures, and everything was cut to the same size. I enjoyed the crunchy bits.The tebasaki ($18 for 6 pieces) had quite big and tender wings. The drumettes had more flavor and sauciness. This wasn't a must-get, but it was decent.The smoked dashi ramen ($22) definitely lived up to its name. It was a rich but not overly heavy pork broth with smoked dashi liquid on top. It was good but not amazing. I didn't love that the bamboo was in a big chunk, which made it hard to eat. The noodles are nothing special. I felt similarly about the tonkotsu ramen.I got the aka drink ($18) which was pretty good -- very floral and good sweetness. It wasn't that big, though -- it had a giant ice block in it.Overall the restaurant has a nice vibe and the food is quick to come out, but nothing would make me come back. The maguro was definitely the highlight.“

“This omakase spot does a well thought out 14 course that includes everything - from apps to nigiri to desserts at an affordable price. What I really enjoyed about Sushi Yolo compared to other omakase spots in this price range is how it’s nicely paced with your entire meal spanning 1.5 hours (other spots are usually churning out guests within 1 hour).As I said before, all the dishes were so well thought out and the pieces that were presented were so beautiful. My absolute favorite was their steamed egg topped with ikura and uni - it was so warm, smooth, and custard-y with the ikura and uni providing the perfect umami balance.As expected, service was amazing and Alex, the host, was so thoughtful to offer me tea throughout my meal as I was the only one in my party who was not partaking in sake.Highly recommend for a date night or a fun outing with a group of friends.“

“Came here for a surprise birthday lunch. Menu: Shrimp head Shrimp Mushroom Fish with the bones (?) Snow Crab with Shiso Leaf Brussel Sprout with Seaweed(?) Scallop Snow pea & Baby Onion Flying fish Lotus Anago Tendon with miso Wasn't incredibly oily at the end of everything, I had a beer to go with my meal as a palette cleanser. Service was great, showed great attention to customers. Chefs were attentive, and notice when you want a good video shot at the whole frying process and try not to ruin your video. As a small extra birthday surprise, added a nice large strawberry with a mochi ice cream. Great experience, would love to try again someday.“

“Even on limited time, I make it a priority to visit PLANTA whenever we're in the same city. I walked here from the Empire State Building, and it was bustling on a Saturday evening. I happily sat at the bar. FIRECRACKER ROLL This was on their April exclusive menu. Filled with Japanese sweet potato, avocado, unagi, and topped with gochujang mayo & chili salt. DELICIOUS! It deserves to be a staple menu item. TORCHED AND PRESSED One of my go-to menu items. This roll is so melt-in-your-mouth creamy. I drool every time. I even convinced some girls sitting at the bar to order this roll. BANG BANG BROCCOLI My numero uno go-to dish since I visited the SOBE location a few years ago. Will never not order this. Crunchy. Flavorful. Amazing in every way. As they were leaving, a couple asked me about this dish and I let them each have one floret. They were sold! (Not all PLANTAs have the same dishes, but luckily, two of my favs have been at all the ones I've visited: FL, CA, IL, & NY.) TRUFFLE RICE I tend to avoid the main dishes and stick with starters and sushi, but I wanted to try something different. Unfortunately, I should've followed my instincts. It had a nice flavor to it, but it was dry and the rice was overcooked. Disappointing. There was so much potential with the cumulation of ingredients. As a PLANTA Passport holder who doesn't live near a PLANTA, I was excited to be able to use my birthday reward - a free dessert! But they didn't have my fav available- the giant chocolate chip cookie, so I ended up passing on dessert. Service was great. As busy as he was, he kept my water glass filled. The worst part about my visit is that I rushed out to catch my Uber back to Brooklyn and left my leftovers on the counter. I may have shed a tear about it. Tip: there are outlets and hooks at the bar.“

“Had the best introverted time at KazuNori! I finally arrived in NYC after a 5 hour flight and 1.5 hours Uber to my hotel. After checking in and dropping off my stuff, I was starving! Thankfully, this place was a 3 minute walk away. I walked in and was immediately seated as a party of 1 in the corner of their bar seating. Awesome ambience with low light for intimacy with yourself or your companion. I ordered their 6 hand roll set for $34 and it was well worth the money. The chef goes at your pace, but it's best to each hand roll asap as it's so warm because of fresh rice. Each roll was filling and amazing to finish; my personal favorite was the bay scallop roll. I was done within 15-20 minutes, and KazuNori checked off all the boxes from speed, quality of customer service, and great food quality. Would come here again and definitely recommend!“

“A delightful little yakitori restaurant. It was great we didn’t smell like the food when we left since we had regular seating. It would be cool to watch them cook but we had kids with us. It’s great that you can tell them you’re not into weird pieces like hearts and organs and they’ll substitute. The different pieces, though mostly chicken, all had different tastes. We brought our kids that can’t finish an entire omakase. We thought we could get a la carte for them but they won’t let you order just a la carte despite the two adults ordering a la carte. We enjoyed our meal here.“

They primarily blend Japanese and French culinary elements to create an out-of-the-box and unforgettable dining experience.In 2023, due to disputes between the owner and the former chef, resulting in the departure of the ex-chef, they were removed from the Michelin three-star list, sparking considerable attention and comments from diners. From my recent dining experience at the restaurant, their removal from the Michelin three-star list does not imply that they no longer meet the standards of a Michelin three-star restaurant. Rather, it's because they are now operating as a "new restaurant" after reorganizing their chef team, which should be in a "grade pending" status. Personally, I feel that in the 2024 Michelin ratings, they have a very high chance of regaining Michelin star status, even if not immediately returning to three stars.Overall, this restaurant is highly suitable for diners interested in tasting fusion cuisine that blends elements from around the world, as well as for chefs in the food industry seeking new ideas. Additionally, the restaurant's service is excellent, even among fine dining establishments, as the staff seamlessly combine professionalism and friendliness. The dining environment in the restaurant is also excellent. Whether enjoying food preparation at the bar or having a more intimate dining experience at a table, both options provide a great experience.Here are some highlights of the restaurant's strengths:1. The meat dishes at the restaurant seem to be less impressive than the seafood dishes, especially the wagyu beef dish, which is not cooked to perfection, failing to highlight the characteristics of wagyu beef.2. The sea urchin and waffle dish show great creativity in combining Asian and European ingredients. However, the waffle seems too soft and cannot effectively hold the uni; I almost dropped the uni while eating. Moreover, both the waffle and uni have a heavy sweet taste and soft texture, lacking impact. Perhaps replacing them with different bread and uni combinations would be better.3. While each seafood dish has excellent flavor, the seasoning and presentation seem somewhat repetitive, giving a sense of redundancy. Perhaps experimenting with more diverse elements and variations would be beneficial.4. The restaurant does not offer bread, a common feature in many European restaurants. Although bread may not be particularly expensive, I believe it is an essential part of French and many European restaurant cuisines. With bread, diners can dip it into the soup, creating a special dining experience and balancing the flavors of some heavier dishes.In conclusion, it was a very enjoyable dining experience. I hope the restaurant regains its Michelin star status in 2024 and continues to explore the path of fusion cuisine, breaking through the limitations of traditional rating systems and textbooks, and continuing to be a representative of New York cuisine and a unique restaurant in the world.“

“Came here for my birthday dinner because I love all things Japanese cuisine and Omakase by Korami did not disappoint! Service, food, and drinks were phenomenal. I did feel a little rushed though so be aware this is only an hour dine in experience. The restaurant is small and there is only counter service Available so you can see the chefs prepare the food right in front of you. Friendly atmosphere with so many delicious and fresh nigiri. My favs: catfish, salmon, bluefin tuna w caviar. Melted in my mouth, soo fresh and so much flavor. Loved! We enjoyed our meal over Dassai 39 sake and I was excited to get a tuna hand roll birthday surprise with a candle in it. Super sweet from the chefs and it was such a great birthday dinner.“

“I came here on a Friday night at about 7pm. (It also happened to be during lent, so I think it was even busier in the kitchen than usual) They have three tables with two chairs. Very casual. It seems to be more of a takeout spot My friend and I split the Sushi & Sashimi Premium- 15pc of Sashimi & 10pc Sushi - $60.00 It came out in like 10 minutes of ordering. The sushi was very fresh and had great taste. It was not enough for two people and we should've ordered more, but that's personal preference.“

“Loved the dinner outing here for my wife's birthday.We ordered the 15 pc Omakase and thoroughly enjoyed every dish that came out. There are two chefs working simultaneously each catering to 4-6 folks. Service was great with plates being swapped and cleaned timely, and the staff were attentive overall. Price is good for Omakase in NYC, and the location is superb with its close proximity in midtown to Penn Station and K-Town. I made a reservation a day prior for Friday evening, so it's not too tough to get a spot (you need to confirm via app and phone call day of). A strong recommend for me.“

“This restaurant opened a couple weeks ago, right next to the Baccarat Hotel ground floor! I have tried many Omakase places, but the chef Anthony Inn served dishes I have never tried. Presentation, Balanced flavor, Texture, Aroma, Execution, all there! Taru has everything from Omakase, Cooked Dishes, and Fantastic Dessert Selections. The Pastry Chef Natsume Aoi is perfection! Her deserts are must try! Also, there's a beautiful bar at the front with a great selection of cocktails, wine, sake, and scotch! The staff is attentive, and I loved the real bonsai tree in the center. I would highly recommend it, so definitely try it!“

“First time at Sushi Story - and it is amazing! I went in for lunch and asked the server for recommendations. After my ginger salad, she brought me Tuna Tataki, which was perfectly prepared and had a touch of smokiness. I couldn’t decide between Seared Salmon Sushi or the River Roll, so I ordered both. It was the best decision ever! The salmon was freshly prepared and melted in my mouth. The Spicy Tuna was delicious and had just a touch of kick, which complimented the richness of the fish. All dishes were fresh, perfectly prepared, and beautifully presented. The service was friendly, helpful, and courteous, by both the server and the chef, who checked on my satisfaction with the meal. “i was blown away by the attention to detail and mastery/execution of every single dish that came out from their omakase. i didn’t take pictures of every piece of sushi that came out but i will simply say that the chef has taken their time to understand the complex flavor profiles of each fish and carefully paired them with the perfect sauces/marinade to best complement their nuanced flavors. every single item served to me that night was delicious and carefully/methodically crafted to delight all the senses.“

“This is my first time to dine in Sugarfish. I walked in around 5 pm as they did not take reservation. I was told that I needed to wait for an hour. It turned out the sushi and sashimi were worth waiting for. I made my own combination to select 6 kinds of nigiri (most from limited availability), i.e., Kama Toro, Pink Lobster, Albacore Belly, Ankimo (monkfish liver), Shima Aji, Hokkaido Sea Scallops, and one hand roll of baby scallops. With Nozawa super dry sake, I had a blast!“

“The 4.8 rating after 185 reviews made me question this restaurant. How could they have that high of a rating with such a large sample size. After going there I’m on the hunt to find those individuals that made this score not a perfect 5. Service was exceptional (especially when considering the normal pricing). Sushi quality was the best I’ve ever had in every food I ate (miso soup wasn’t too salty). Complimentary miso and a roll from the chef. There is not a single thing I could complain about and I look forward to giving this establishment as much business as possible.“

The staff is welcoming and professional.For starters the gyoza was yummy, perfectly prepared but the mains were exceptional, the shoyu king ramen was the best ramen we ever had and the eel and rice dish was also really good in flavor and the eel was done perfectly also the miso king ramen was very flavorful ,the miso flavor was exquisite . If your looking for a delicious place to eat around 60th and 5th you should definitely go to shinjuku ramen.Beware ,other ramens will be inferior after you have theirs.“

“Best sushi place in the city !!!The food and options available are incredible and priced appropriately. No tipping culture at this restaurant (which means the servers are paid well btw). Our server was super nice and also politely answered all our questions which made us comfortable to try many options on the menu.I and my friend walked in and were put on the waitlist at 7ish pm on a Saturday. We got our table around 8:30 ! We hung out at such cute bars before and after our dinner at this restaurant, and trust me the bar options near this place are just fab ! “Suram is one of my best kept secrets in Hudson Yards, but I'm no longer gatekeeping! Setting: Centered near the Hudson Yards Shops and the Vessel, Suram features a dimly lit ambiance with tones of black, silver, and gold. Service: Kind waitstaff and the food came out at an expected pace for a sushi/ramen spot. Food: I got the sake don (salmon bowl - $29) and the spicy avocado crunch roll ($10). Both were at a great value, especially for the location and the flavor. Can't wait to return!“

“I always say to people that I bring here that they serve flavor bombs that explode in your mouth. This place is a true experience. “Today I came to eat at Sushi Lab. It was very good. The food is so good, so delicious. The service of the staff is excellent. “My first omakase experience We got the Omakase $78/ per person and it was very delicious and filling! The chefs were excellent and friendly. Cozy and near indoor space. Fish was high quality and fresh. Melt in your mouth like butter. Definitely check it out! The highlighted ones were our favorites ?“

“My wife and I went for a late lunch. There was no customer there at 2:30 pm and the kitchen was closed. Our menu option is limited to the sushi bar. We ordered 4 different rolls. Boy! They were delicious. The rice was fresh and soft. One bite into the tuna volcano, you feel the tuna and the rice immediately melt in your mouth. No need to say more we finished every bit of sushi. This was the first time the food was prepared by the Japanese chief/owner. The place is cozy and small (7 tables) surrounded by many house plants. I found this eating establishment is very welcoming!!“
