“I am a local resident of Garfield. I enjoy and appreciate Sushi Boy when I can get in. It is a quiet and beautiful venue when you have the opportunity to eat in. The decor is wonderful, as is the food. The prices are great as well. My only complaint is that I have attempted to eat in twice, only to find the doors locked both times. Once an hour before closing, the second an hour and a half before closing. I would rather give my money to a local business than something available through Uber eats. Still a great venue, and although I understand why they would close early, it is unfortunate to show up at their door and then have to walk away.“

“Ended up here accidentally on a layover: Hands down, the best ramen I’ve ever had (springy, slurpy perfection), amazing cocktails (if you like gin the Japanese 75 is a must try!), and whatever the whipped cream, creme brûlée’d banana dessert was tasted like heaven. I even ordered another tonkotsu ramen to go (all the way to Florida) to bring back to my fiancé. They separated all of it, packaged it so it wouldn’t leak, and wrote directions on specific timing for heating up each item! Very impressive service. I’ll be back again!“

“We went to Shogun Omakase in New York yesterday for lunch. My son loves sushi and it was his birthday present (our first time experiencing Omakase). We were blown away! Seriously the best sushi experience (and to be honest, one of our top restaurant experiences) ever. Chef Ryan was an amazing chef and artist, and provided top notch customer service. I've been back multiple times and always leave soo content. The omakase is fantastic, and Frankie is an artist at what he does. Every course is a delightful experience of perfectly paired flavors.

“Ordered via GrubHub for a late Friday night dinner when the sushi craving hit. I ordered a tuna bowl, and hubby had a salmon bowl. All of the sushi bar bowls come with edamame, miso soup, seaweed salad, kani salad, regular salad (in this case, it was arugula), and avocado. The fish came in huge chunks, lightly marinaded, and tasted fresh. No complaints. I’d order again and try some actual rolls next time. I saw on their menu a pretty good deal for lunch - $12.50 for three regular rolls, so I’ll have to check that out.“

It’s nothing crazy or extra extravagant, however my significant other and myself have been regulars ever since discovering it last year! I had a beer, pork gyoza, and the dried spicy udon with shrimp. Everything tasted really homemade and fresh, not heavy or greasy like some places.

The gyoza was crispy on the bottom, juicy inside, and the udon had a nice spicy kick with good texture. Super easy, comforting meal with a beer on the side.

Spicy crispy shrimp - if you like shrimps, you can’t miss this as an entry! In the picture you can’t see, but there’s an avocado on the other side 😉
The Tuna Tortilla - The Tuna is super fresh, the tortilla is crispy underneath and in between you have the truffle spread! WOW!!! So simple yet so good!
Momoya spicy Tuna Roll - don’t be afraid to try it if you don’t like spicy, because it’s so good and I didn’t feel the spice.

“The best omurice I’ve ever had, amazing black pepper sauce that’s also super buttery. You have to get it with the pork katsu.

So good we ordered 3 servings after a 30 minute ice bath brrrr 🥶. Wash it down with Sapporo for a well balanced meal

“Katsuhama is one of my must-visit restaurants every time I come to New York.

The tonkatsu here is simply outstanding. The breading is perfectly fried—light, crispy, and never greasy. Every bite has that perfect balance of a crunchy exterior and a tender, juicy interior. The pork is incredibly soft and flavorful, making it one of the best tonkatsu experiences I’ve had anywhere.

You can really tell that great care goes into the preparation. The quality is consistently excellent, which is why I keep coming back whenever I’m in New York.

If you’re a fan of tonkatsu, this place is absolutely worth a visit. Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside—just perfection.

- far east sour for those who like contrasting tastes
- all the others for well anyway they're all good but those four stood out to me.

Then food
- monkfish karaage is a must
- same for toro uni caviar, I know, I know, caviar is for pricks, but be a prick this time
- chawanmushi yes
- hokkaido uni pasta if you're into squid ink (yeah, that's the second flavor)
- salmon ikura kamameshi because the fish is prepared well
- furikake fries if you want the potato crunch.

I cannot recommend this place any more. It reminds me in vibe of my favorite cocktail place where I live (Perch, in Harlem). These cocktails, done this well, with this precision on the food, is a hard find. I would say do not go for a quick drink. Go for a night.“
