“Put this place on the map!!!! A tried a true, best of the best, MUST go to spot when visiting (or living in) NYC. No exaggeration, my boyfriend and I haven’t stopped talking about this place since we visited last year. We’ll finally be back in town next month and are beyond excited to be dining with them again. Did we book a trip just to eat here!? Maybe… probably… because seriously, this place is exceptional. The owner is the sweetest, most delightful human with an incredible story and the food/service is an unmatched experience. Plus, you simply can’t beat their affordable omakasi prices…but the bigger bonus??? BYOB. Bring your wine, bring your tequila, bring neither or bring both. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a party in the most intimate sense. I never write reviews, but Sushi YOLO is a 10/10, so please, do yourself a favor and go see them before they earn that Michelin Star!“

“Absolutely loved our experience yesterday. The basic omakase was delicious at $38, no hidden charges, and staff were lovely. Only slightly minor quibble was everything seemed a bit rushed and a little less peaceful than other places I've been to, but fair enough at that price. I was also a bit surprised at the rudeness of a customer talking on her phone when the staff were trying to engage her. That's not the restaurant's fault but maybe worth having a sign about using phones less and being in the moment more?!“

“The food was wonderful and the ambiance lovely. The service pretty attentive and cheerful. But the desserts were overpriced and not worth it. Try the udon noodle with mushroooms. . yumm.“

“Love this place — good, fairly priced sushi. They’ve also eliminated tipping, which I personally support, as I believe establishments should pay their employees fairly rather than relying on customers to supplement their income. The omakase is served at a fast pace, so it might not be ideal if you’re looking for a slower, more intimate dining experience.“

“Incredible food and service. Hard to believe it has been 1 year since the opening. Crave Sushi Bar is now an entrenched restaurant in this neighborhood. It is the best sushi experience in all of New York City. My wife and I are always felt welcomed at the restaurant.“

“This is by far the best omakasi restaurant I have ever been to in all of NY and/or ever. I am shocked to read that there is even one negative review. And honestly, everything that they complained about is exactly what my husband and I love so much about the experience here. The staff is by far the best. You feel like you are at cheers where everyone knows your name, preferences, and favorite drink (even when you can’t remember it yourself). Extra shout out to Nini and Chef Lin who have been our favorites since Covid. We have brought all of our friends here to experience the amazingness of Ishikawa and they now all come without us. This is our special occasion place and we are still always amazed and surprised by how great the pieces are (always something we haven’t had yet after all of these years!)“

“Exceptional goods/services from EXCEPTIONAL people.
It makes me very happy that this exists in a town/area that means a lot to myself and many others.
I encourage everyone reading this, whether you are in the mood for food, milk tea, or other treats, they have you covered here and with a smile and great conversations.
Bless the owners of this establishment that have spent their lives making the lives of others better via their hard work and tasty recipes!!!“

“You cannot beat their happy hour! Each piece of sushi is around double the size of your typical NYC piece. I also got the sushi tacos and those were fun and different from what I typically get. I also got a bottle of the cold sake. I will definitely be coming back here soon!“

“Place is quite nice. My friends enjoyed their meals very much. It is a bit tough finding vegetarian dishes here and I wish the restaurant kept at least one or two large vegetarian dishes that arent pork/beef broth based. However, this may already be known to people before they come in, so shouldn't detract from the review. Ambiance and service were great!“

“I tried the poke bowl, takoyaki, and tofu steak at Ooi Sushi Bar—and everything was so good and incredibly fresh. The poke bowl was flavorful with perfectly marinated fish, the takoyaki had that crispy-outside, creamy-inside texture that hits just right, and the tofu steak was a total standout—crispy, savory, and full of umami. Definitely a spot I’d come back to!“

“I’m so glad I got to experience such high-quality Japanese sushi at TAKEDA in New York. Having the omakase dinner here was truly a special and memorable experience — I feel lucky to have had the chance. In my opinion, TAKEDA is the best Japanese restaurant in NYC. Not only was the food outstanding, but the atmosphere and attention to detail made me feel deeply connected to Japanese culture. If I ever come back to New York, this will definitely be one of the first places I return to. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable sushi experience.“

“I took my family here and it was good. The price is super affordable and the food is not bad. There are a couple new employees that do not speak English very well but some do. The atmosphere is just amazing from traditional Japanese sitting to normal tables. I will defiantly recommend this place.
Vegetarian options: There is a little section labeled vegetarian and my daughter really enjoyed it.“

“Went to Choo Choo Train with five friends. Ordered Miso Salmon entree and it was delicious. Salmon was grilled perfectly, broccoli and carrots were cooked well and still crunchy, and mashed sweet potatoes were yummy. Cannot say enough about food and attentive service. Will return...no doubt!“

“Watami Sushi is one of those spots you might walk past without noticing, tucked away on a busy Manhattan street--but trust me, it's so worth checking out. The staff are incredibly friendly, which makes the whole experience feel super welcoming. And the food? Amazing. The sushi is fresh and flavorful, and their omakase is such a steal for the quality you're getting.“

“This was our second visit to Noz Market. They never fail to impress and satisfy. The cuts of fish are large and wrap all the way around the rice. The nigiri are seasoned perfectly, skillfully and with precision. The chefs here truly practice the art of sushi. The two omakase options are reasonably priced, and you can add extra pieces at the end of the experience. My Japanese fiancée emphatically approves, which should tell you what you need to know about this restaurant. Not too difficult to make a reservation a few weeks ahead of time, but definitely make one in advance. We will most certainly return.“

“So happy to have found this hidden gem. It is on the lower level of a building with a different restaurant just above. They have a large outdoor patio with heaters behind the building which is perfect for covid-safe dining. The food was fantastic, excellent sushi! Top quality fish, beautiful preparation and presentation and there are a few omakase options. The hoji tea panna cotta dessert was phenomenal as well. The price is definitely ‘special occasion’ territory for most but well worth it if you love sushi. Will definitely be coming back and hope others find this hidden gem!“

“Cute little place. Always filled with locals and regulars. Evident sign that the place is good. Bumping with efficient take out orders going out all the time. Quick and efficient service. Friendly and helpful staff. And the star of the whole review is that the sushi is impeccable. Fresh, flavorful, tasty, and light. Love love love!
Kid-friendliness: Every time I have been there there have been babies and young kids.“

“Sushi by bou is a very intimate dining experience - 8 seats around a counter with the sushi chef telling you what each sushi course is. Omakase - like a chef's menu. This was our second time there and I'm planning to return in April. The fish is fresh, the presentation innovative. We had a flight of sake with the different courses. I have to say that I know nothing about sake but this pairing was delicious. Because the restaurant is small, your fellow diners enhance the experience and that was especially my experience last night. It's a great feeling to share your delight over the food with couples. A great experience. And, of course, we ordered repeats from the omakase menu.“

“Server Xin from Sushi Gama has set a high standard for restaurants in the East Side area! Our server, Xin, was the best part of our experience. Xin displayed wonderful customer service and is by far the best server we've ever encountered. A big shout-out to Xin! He was a wonderful waiter because he provided amazing service and was very attentive. He kept changing out any dirty plates without us even having to ask. We would definitely come back for him!“

“We celebrated a couple of Birthdays and Mother's Day here. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We came for brunch and pretty much had the place for ourselves. I had the Goda Harmony which consists of the Rock Shrimp, Miso Cod and Medley of vegetables. It was wonderful! 🤗 💕 Many of my party got the Chirashi, and they enjoyed their meal. Others chose the rolls. One ordered the Nyeumen - thin udon soup Bowl with shrimp Tempura. All very yummy!“

“My absolute favorite place in New York. Right across the Madison Square Park, this place has rhe most sumptuous food.
The Bone marrow, fried rice, edamame, sushi, the chops and the steak were outstanding.
The server Laveena was also really helpful.
The sushi in particular was superb. Especially the crispy rice one.
We went here about thrice. Totally worth it.“

“The sushi is very good, top in NJ. Broad variety of fish, good flavors with some really tasty flavor profiles. Their spicy scallop roll is my favorite in this area. Clearly the owner is passionate about what he's doing here. I have eaten sushi all over north jersey and will only go back to a handful of restaurants because I am very particular about food in general but with sushi in particular - this palce is one that I have gone back to once and will certainly come back again. Product has to be super fresh and they maintain very high standards. Constructive criticism....The bathroom area needs to be completely gutted ASAP.“

“We stopped into Omakase Shihou (also referred to as Omakase Shiro) for their lunch omakase, tucked away on the second floor of Tenzan, a Japanese restaurant. The intimate space, clad in light wood, sets the perfect tone for a relaxed and refined experience.
The lunch omakase is an incredible value at just $49, including an appetizer, nine pieces of sushi, miso soup, and dessert. We opted to elevate the experience with the $25 add-on, which featured an oyster shooter, A5 wagyu, and a toro hand roll. Each of us also enjoyed a glass of sake for $18. While the base omakase alone is a treat—beautifully presented and absolutely delicious—the add-on is highly recommended.
Every piece of sushi was fresh, artfully prepared, and included a few delightful surprises. The ikura, which I don’t typically enjoy, was so exceptional I ordered an extra—truly a testament to the quality. No spoilers here—you’ll want to experience it for yourself.
The meal concluded with a comforting akamiso soup and a refreshing matcha mochi dessert topped with arare, a perfectly balanced finish to a memorable lunch. It was a wonderful prelude to an afternoon at The Met.
We’d absolutely return to Omakase Shiro—excellent service, serene ambiance, and exceptional food from start to finish.“

“We highly recommend ICCA Sushi, always fresh, delicious and worth every cent. This is a BYOB restaurant if you’re interested in eating in. I usually pick up. In the past during COVID they use to deliver. I am not sure if they do now. Absolutely, incredible! You can go for lunch and dinner if you want!“

“If you’re looking for incredible food, warm hospitality, and a cozy atmosphere, look no further than Roll House Dragon . This local favorite is truly a gem, and my recent visit reminded me why small-town restaurants often have the biggest heart.
The menu offers a fantastic variety of dishes, each crafted with care and packed with flavor. I started with the Dumplings , which was fresh, flavorful, and a perfect way to kick off the meal. For the main course, I opted for the chicken teriyaki bowl the flavors were absolutely divine, and the portion size was generous without being overwhelming.
What really stood out to me was the service. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure every detail was perfect. You can tell they take pride in creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels at home.“

“Simply superb. The fish and shellfish are pristine. The chefs are skilled and approachable. The servers are helpful and gracious. While not “inexpensive,” I believe it’s a value for what is delivered. I’ve been three times—just last night for the first time, I’m sorry to say, since COVID—and each time was exquisite. Beyond highly recommended. A treasure.“

“I visited a long time ago, but the experience left a lasting impression. Everything felt very professional—the flow of the meal was smooth, the ingredients were fresh, and the knife work was precise. While the omakase leaned traditional, there were subtle creative touches that never overpowered the classic flavors.“

“It is a part of a small food court. Seems overall a popular very simple place. I took sashimi: salmon, tuna, yellow tail, and crab stick on a bed of shredded daikon and maybe carrot, separated by shiso leaves. Served with rice. I didn’t expect much and was impressed: fresh and tasty. Will return.“
“Morgan, the chef, has prepared a wonderful menu. We were staying in Midtown east and wanted a wonderful lunch. The restaurant is located on the lower level of Saks fifth Avenue.
The small space is decorated tastefully. The food and wine were superb. We love talking to the chef and were interested to hear how she came up with the menu. The service was fabulous and the team did a great job!“
