“I loved the place - best sushi and rolls in entire NYC across all the boroughs. Not sure why people are complaining about the price - it is decent for NYC. People have to make money not give the food for free folks.Service- super fast. Ty?For all the negativities- look at the pictures they post- the food look good. Some pictures are just blurred proving pretty much nothing about the quality they complain about.“

“Fantastic speakeasy sushi joint. Very small, no more than an handful of people may join the omasake style bar where 3 talented (and cool) chefs serve you the best crafted sushi you can get. Definitely going back soon.“

“Had an amazing experience at Mido Omakase Room with my two friends! We were a party of three, and our host, Richard, made the evening unforgettable. He was super funny, welcoming, and really added to the overall vibe of the place. The food was top-notch—each course was a masterpiece and the flavors were spot on. The service was impeccable, with the staff making sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great omakase experience!
Will definitely be coming back!“

“Hole in the wall sushi spot. It’s a small and cozy spot in the LES. The size allows you to enjoy the food and chefs on a personal level. I also genuinely have not had fresher fish than here, every piece was mind blowing, the fact that it’s only $68 for 12 pieces! I’m so impressed and I truly can’t recommend it enough. Better than any Michelin I’ve ever had! Also if you love uni like I do, it’s a must.“

“Absolutely loved our experience yesterday. The basic omakase was delicious at $38, no hidden charges, and staff were lovely. Only slightly minor quibble was everything seemed a bit rushed and a little less peaceful than other places I've been to, but fair enough at that price. I was also a bit surprised at the rudeness of a customer talking on her phone when the staff were trying to engage her. That's not the restaurant's fault but maybe worth having a sign about using phones less and being in the moment more?!“

“My daughter chose this for a birthday dinner. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was fantastic. Audrey was our server. She was extremely knowledgeable of the menu, made great recommendations, she was there when we needed her without being there too often. I would highly recommend Rosella Sushi. Can’t wait to get back to New York City and return for a meal here. It also makes it extra cool when Chef Jeff is wearing a Florida Gator hat!“

“I SWEAR THIS IS WORTH THE PRICE !! The attention is amazing, 2 chefs working right in front of you and food is ready sooo quick. The sushi is URGH amazing, super creative and everyone around me told me this had been their favourite omakase yet. NOTHING could have made this better, it was an amazing place, quality food and great chefs.“

“I highly recommend anyone reading this to come try! I wish I could give 10 stars. Make a resy. This was honestly one of the best dining omakase experiences!! But not only was the experience great, so was the food and drinks. Karina was very kind on explaining us the drink options, and finding us the perfect drink we would love. Her and the chef were also super kind on telling us every piece we were eating and where it was from. Alex was also such a great host. Always asking how everything was and also make great small talk, getting to know us. The food was such great quality also so it was well worth the omakase price. I also ordered their special which had Uni-Toro-Wagyu-HotateCaviar. It was DIVINE!!“

“Absolutely phenomenal. Where is their star? It was nothing short of a true Michelin experience! The quality of the fish was out of this world, flown in fresh from Japan, and every bite reflected that care and precision. The team crafted an unforgettable dining experience for every single guest, with flawless service and artistry at an incredible price point. Anyone in NYC I can’t recommend this place enough“

“Mikado sushi in Lexington Avenue is my favorite sushi spot for lunch! They have amazing specials including sushi rolls like Wagyu, spicy crab ans scallops! 4 rolls for $20! They also have hot food dishes. The prices are so great and what I love about this spot is the service. I highly recommend eating here. There is also a great selection of sake, cocktails and tea!“

“Thirteen Water is an unforgettable dining experience and our go-to spot for special occasions. The chefs are incredibly attentive, and the menu is full of creative, one of a kind flavor combinations you can’t find anywhere else. Every course bursts with freshness and balance, showcasing top-quality ingredients prepared with care. The experience feels focused and intentional—you’re there to enjoy the food, not get distracted with extras. Service is quick, the atmosphere is comfortable, and every visit feels like a treat.“

“Went inside on a whim and so glad we did. The handrolls were incredible. The fish was great quality and creativity was next level. Our favorites were the xo scallop (must get), tuna poke, salmon serrano, aka ebi, toro scallion, and spicy lobster. Not as big of a fan of cooked/fried fish in sushi, but tried the coconut shrimp and spicy crab dynamite due to the many recommendations, and thought they were just okay. Also didn’t think the caviar starter was anything special.“

“We visited from out of town and chose this sushi spot based on its great reviews. The salmon crispy rice was amazing—we even wanted seconds! The shrimp and crab dumplings and Persian cucumber salad were both very good (though not as spicy as expected). My main dish, the spicy Maine lobster roll, was incredible, and the Tuna Toro hand roll was also excellent. However, the Bluefin Tuna Toro roll was disappointing—the mix with shishito peppers didn’t work and left an off taste.“

“I had a really wonderful time here - and enjoyed the excellent food! I found the service to be extremely attentive, and all the staff very responsive to needs and the fact that I am pescatarian and requested one modification to the set omakase. I got the 15 course omakase with the sake pairing and all of the pieces were delightful! The fish was firm and fresh, and tasted great, and I loved the light hand the chef used for the sauces. I will definitely come back.“

“The BEST dining experience of my life. I commend the chefs for being able to create an incredible experience out of a cuisine that emphasizes purity. They are truly masters of their craft, and it shines through with each and every bite. I also want to thank Brandon, and the entire staff, for delivering on just above and beyond service even for a Michelin star restaurant.
My full review of each aspect of the meal:
Food:
We booked the Gentei Omakase experience and loved every bite. I had very high expectations for the rice with how much they talk about it on the website, and even those expectations were exceeded. The rice is spectacular. When it comes to the fish, it was a wonderful mix of classics like Otoro, and an introduction to new favorites of mine like the Kinki. Each piece tastes delicious and came with the perfect amount of freshly grated wasabi. Understanding the selection was seasonal, the mix was just perfect. There were cuts of perfectly springy texture, melt-in-your-mouth buttery sweetness, and delicate umami flavor. I can’t really put into words how the food had changed my view of sushi forever. NOW, let me talk about the sake pairing. My sake experience was H-Mart sake, so maybe I’m not the expert. That said, this sake pairing has completely changed everything I thought sake could be. Brandon, our sake expert, was kind of enough to dumb down the explanations of all the sake to us, giving us a history lesson on each bottle and helping us learn tasting notes to look out for. I felt like it was like someone showing me a whole new world that I didn’t know existed. If you are reading this, best of luck on the exam next year! I want to thank you for making our evening so special.
Service:
I may not have the 20+ Michelin meals the other reviewer had, but of the few I have had, this one stands out as by far the best. They were able to blend together an intimate dining experience and a show. It was food with a little showmanship to curate to those who wanted pictures of every piece and those who wanted to just sit and eat. The chefs were attentive, asking questions on taste and consistently giving context to what we were eating. They gave a thorough explanation on the origins of the rice, and even gave context about seasonality of the fish. I felt like I was in a masterclass, being taught by two of the best to ever do it. Then the rest of the wait staff was just absolutely fantastic. They came by with phone rests, and even cleaned up small drops of sauce on the serving plate, to assure it did not compromise the flavor of the next piece. The level of attention was perfect without being over the top.
Atmosphere: Simple. Just the way it should be.“

“Simply superb. The fish and shellfish are pristine. The chefs are skilled and approachable. The servers are helpful and gracious. While not “inexpensive,” I believe it’s a value for what is delivered. I’ve been three times—just last night for the first time, I’m sorry to say, since COVID—and each time was exquisite. Beyond highly recommended. A treasure.“

“Hunted for an omakase restaurant on our NYC vacation. This is the best meal I’ve had in my life. Not exaggerating. Watching Jiro’s intense focus and passion for his craft makes the experience all the better. I’ll be back any time I’m in NYC.“

“The food is delicious, fresh, thoughtfully prepared, each bite a carefully matched fish with yuzu, or ginger, or pepper sauce. Pure, buttery, exquisite fish as fresh as you can imagine. It may feel like a short time to eat, but you have time to savor the fish. It's a casual space with easy interaction and opportunity to ask the chefs about their preparation. A perfect spot to eat before a show, with a clear time/schedule!“

“Our first time at Zest. We enjoyed the sushi and other items on their happy hour menu. The tapas style sizes were a bargain and we got to try a lot of items for only $6. The sushi was fresh and innovative. Everything we tried was super tasty and yummy. We especially enjoyed the “Salmon Dream” and the salmon skin salad. Our kids liked the pork shumai and the chicken fried rice. Not very Japanese but still super yummy. The Sapporo beers were $6 for HH and a bargain. We came on the weekend and Broome street is super lively and becomes a pedestrian only street which makes it even more accessible. We want to come back soon to try the items on their happy hour menu which we missed since we left super full and happy. Leave room for mochi ice cream for dessert.“

“Fantastic omakase experience with great value for money! The ingredients were incredibly fresh. I especially liked the sweet shrimp and scallops. Not to mention the foi gras with salmon combination.
Miso soup at the middle of the omakase was great - perfect for a warming break to prepare for a second round of sushi. If I have to pick any fault... The dessert ice cream was mediocre.“

“This was our second visit to Noz Market. They never fail to impress and satisfy. The cuts of fish are large and wrap all the way around the rice. The nigiri are seasoned perfectly, skillfully and with precision. The chefs here truly practice the art of sushi. The two omakase options are reasonably priced, and you can add extra pieces at the end of the experience. My Japanese fiancée emphatically approves, which should tell you what you need to know about this restaurant. Not too difficult to make a reservation a few weeks ahead of time, but definitely make one in advance. We will most certainly return.“

“We celebrated a couple of Birthdays and Mother's Day here. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We came for brunch and pretty much had the place for ourselves. I had the Goda Harmony which consists of the Rock Shrimp, Miso Cod and Medley of vegetables. It was wonderful! 🤗 💕 Many of my party got the Chirashi, and they enjoyed their meal. Others chose the rolls. One ordered the Nyeumen - thin udon soup Bowl with shrimp Tempura. All very yummy!“

“We stopped into Omakase Shihou (also referred to as Omakase Shiro) for their lunch omakase, tucked away on the second floor of Tenzan, a Japanese restaurant. The intimate space, clad in light wood, sets the perfect tone for a relaxed and refined experience.
The lunch omakase is an incredible value at just $49, including an appetizer, nine pieces of sushi, miso soup, and dessert. We opted to elevate the experience with the $25 add-on, which featured an oyster shooter, A5 wagyu, and a toro hand roll. Each of us also enjoyed a glass of sake for $18. While the base omakase alone is a treat—beautifully presented and absolutely delicious—the add-on is highly recommended.
Every piece of sushi was fresh, artfully prepared, and included a few delightful surprises. The ikura, which I don’t typically enjoy, was so exceptional I ordered an extra—truly a testament to the quality. No spoilers here—you’ll want to experience it for yourself.
The meal concluded with a comforting akamiso soup and a refreshing matcha mochi dessert topped with arare, a perfectly balanced finish to a memorable lunch. It was a wonderful prelude to an afternoon at The Met.
We’d absolutely return to Omakase Shiro—excellent service, serene ambiance, and exceptional food from start to finish.“
