“Sushi on Me is a party. I have been able to swing going twice in the last year and can say that the guys behind the counter are among the hardest working folks in the restaurant business anywhere in NY. It is loud, chaotic, and a lot of fun. I can't wait to go back for a third time.“
“BUA Thai is so gorgeous! The whole venue is adorned with flowers it's so aesthetically pleasing. You have to try the crab rangoon and rock shrimp lychee I'm definitely going back for these! Good luck choosing just one entree cause they all look so delicious, I had the BUA noodles which is so full of flavor. Love it here definitely going back!“
“Maki Kosaka has a lot of great things going for it, but has a few misses that make me unable to rate it the full 5 stars. A great note to start: I was able to get a reservation here day-of on a Friday night for 2 people easily. When you walk in, it's a 2 section restaurant with a small bar/waiting area up front, and a huge space in the back with the counter wrapping around the center chef space. Honestly surprised me how nice it looked. I ordered the grab roll set. 5 pieces rolls for $38. Most add ons are about $8-10, unless you get something more premium. While the price point for the set wasn't super high, I did expect slightly larger rolls. It was barely larger than a nigiri, just with more rice, and often too much sauce. I will say: the seaweed wraps used here are probably the best I've had. The fish - I can't say the same. Almost every fish from the set lacked unctuousness, and it felt like they were trying to make up for a cheaper cut by adding fats like avocado and mayo. I also ordered the crab and ikura roll, and the seared scallop roll. The crab and ikura was good, but a bit heavy on the mayo, and the seared scallop was texturally nice, but missing sweetness from the scallop. Uni roll was an $18 add on, and while satisfying to have uni, I've definitely had better in nyc. I think fish could've been a bit less mashed, with less sauce to really taste the flavor and textural difference. Finally, a pro and a con: service was FAST. Maybe a little too fast. The chef was pre-preparing rolls on the side in whatever order he wanted, and immediately setting the next roll on our plates before we were even done chewing the previous roll. We were able avoid feeling rushed by just not eating the roll immediately, but still felt like we couldn't wait too long if we didn't want to affect the freshness of the piece. I wish he would have slowed down to check in with us, rather than run away and get started on the next orders immediately. At least the wait staff was incredibly welcoming and patient with me and my friends' slow ordering speed. Didn't feel rushed to get out at all. Overall, good, but not great.“
“Brought my girlfriend here to celebrate Valentine’s Day and her birthday as well. Not too familiar with omakase experiences but had absolutely nothing negative to say about the food. Fish tasted fresh and simple. Service was exceptional, warm and friendly. Immediately felt welcomed and at home. Also brought us a surprise birthday cake at the end.“
“We had an outstanding experience at Rosella last night. The food, service, and atmosphere were all top notch. Our server James was engaging and got us out of our comfort zone by surprising us with most of the dishes we were served. My husband who is not a sushi fan is now a sushi fan. We can’t wait to come back!“
“The ambiance is stylish and comfortable, and the dishes are exquisite? We chose the ?$100 pp Omakase for 2 and also ordered a few appetizers and nigiri a la carte. The appetizers include a steamed egg—soft and smooth, with the sauce flavor just right—you can order it with added Uni.Since every ingredient was so fresh and sweet, we couldn't resist ordering more scallop, uni, and wagyu nigiri to satisfy our cravings~The cocktails were fruity and very professionally made?. The dessert's cheesecake has sesame flavor?Check this place out‼️“
“This restaurant's greatest advantage is perhaps its affordability and attentive service. Being able to enjoy 17 pieces of sushi for under $100 is indeed a budget-friendly option. The variety of fish includes almost all mainstream sushi options. However, the culinary techniques at this restaurant seem overly simple; most sushi consists of fish, rice, and minimal embellishments, lacking the thoughtful exploration of how to elevate the fish's flavors through culinary artistry. Additionally, some sushi is rolled too loosely. It's not a place that leaves a lasting impression on the taste of their dishes, but it certainly offers an affordable experience for those looking to try omakase.“
“This is the BEST fish restaurant in the city! We have been coming here for years now and it never disappoints. We love to start with the whole sashimi fish in olive oil and sea salt...delicious! And we end with a whole bronzino grilled and also amazing!!! And lots of different stuff in between...“
“The environment is very warm and comfortable, the ingredients are fresh, and the shrimp in the sashimi is so sweet and chewy—I love it so much! The owner is very enthusiastic, and both my friends and I absolutely love it! We will definitely come often.“
“Great spot for temaki. You can mix and match your order. I mixed some of the classic with the toro and red crab. The scallop one was particularly delicious. We started with the spicy tuna dip which was also great. Tried the nami nori salad, interesting flavors, wasn’t my favorite but definitely something different to try that you won’t find on another menu. Awesome lunch spot!“
“Takeda is a phenomenal sushiya on the UWS. It's a 8 person counter serving an Omakase course of around 17 dishes. The Omakase is a mixture of nigiri, sashimi, and cooked dishes. The meal last around 2.5 hours and is $250 per person. Our favorite dishes were;Lobster - this was probably the best lobster I've ever had. Favorite dish of the omakase.Sardine - sardine usually isn't my favorite piece of sushi but the way Takeda does it is excellent.Golden Eye Snapper - what we enjoyed about Takeda was they don't serve the usual roundup of fish. Never had golden eye snapper and it was delicious. Vegetable Tempura - a fried tempura ball of vegetables, simple but great.Chu Toro - excellent.Striped jack - excellent. The service was top notch, our waitress explained each piece of fish to us and was very attentive. Highly recommend Takeda if you're looking for top level sushi.“
“We celebrated our anniversary at this amazing place! At the beginning, I was impressed by the person at the front. She took our jackets and led us to our table. We even did not ask where the toilets were, because she provided us that information. Our server Kritwamorpan provided an amazing service! She explained the menu, was extremely friendly and made our evening! Probably, one of the best services that we've had!We ordered Toro Shoyu and Gindara Yuan as appetizers! They were delicious!Futo Maki were tasty, but I would not order them again. Because of their size. They were failing apart. As a main dish we chose Salmon Ikura Donabe. It was delicious! Which is the perfect size for 2 people. Our server Kritwamorpan brought it and did a small show of mixing everything together! She was so attentive that filled our plates again when we finished 1st time.As a dessert we took Panna Cotta. It was tasty and not a big portion. At the end of the dinner, we were so impressed when we got our celebration present! So lovely experience! This place is amazing!P.S. I was surprised that tips are starting with 18% for such top notch service! In comparison to other places, where staff is less attentive and they have bigger tips suggestions.“
“Good upscale style vegan Asian fusion restaurant, although portions could be bigger. If you want a big satisfying meal I wouldn’t recommend coming here.I do highly recommend the Japanese sweet potato and sushi (can’t remember which roll). I wouldn’t normally order vegan sushi but this was surprisingly delicious even though there was no fish, so definitely worth it! We also had the Singapore noodles but that was just alright, very light and not much vegetables.“
“No question the highest quality sushi I’ve had in my life. Staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was cozy and nice. I like how the fish was served with minimal additions - meaning the focus was on the fish, not the toppings or sauces. I loved it. Definitely will eat there again.“
“We had a great anniversary. We got the 12 piece + 2 hand roll omakase set for $53. The fish was super fresh and the whole meal was about 45min. There’s about 12-15 seats at the counter, so if you want to guarantee seating book a reservation. It was absolutely worth every “
“Come here for the experience.Talented sushi chef - the fish came out distinctly silkier than other places, the torching was perfect (not too much or little) and the proportions were excellent. The team were all very nice and worked well together and it was a... fun! experience. The music was a loud, opinionated mix of pop and country. One complaint - some of the fish wasn't as flavorful or fresh as I'd like. We were the first seating, but the uni tray was half empty and it looked tired. Other fishes weren't as good as other places. I'm assuming this is an issue with them being new and not having the volume yet.“
“This is one of my new favorite omakase spots in the city. Not a single piece of fish was chewy. Every piece was so fresh. Love how they start with the less fatter pieces and work their way up. The experience got better and better with every piece. You can tell it was well thought out. It was one of my friends first time having omakase and he fell in love with sushi by m!“
“The fish is amazing and the place serves the best omakase experience for that price. I am a regular at the place , but the last time I went there, I reserved the last shift 9 pm. all I can say, is avoid going for the last shift, as the servers rush to push you out the door in half hour, which makes is an unpleasant experience.“
“An absolutely amazing experience. Every piece of sushi was meticulously prepared and so so delicious. Your mouth will go on a journey that will leave your taste buds unable to appreciate any other piece of sushi. This place is amazing and we'll definitely be back.“
“First of all, this is my second time appreciating the sushi sets! I specially love eating omakase, I had been tried a variety of place. But, at last I decided the best of this store, I could really taste the freshener of a variety of fish because I really can sense the brilliant through my tongue! Price are affordable in comparison of others. Environment brings good vibes. I definitely will back and back!“
“Really fun environment and the sushi bar experience is a ton of fun. The chefs are great to watch execute their craft, they’ll make friendly small talk, and the host is very accommodating and friendly. The impromptu trivia and group karaoke was a welcome surprise. The food was new, interesting, unique, and very tasty!“
“This tiny restaurant is reminiscent of an authentic Japanese eatery, from the decor, to the service and importantly the food. It offers a style of hot pot that is more like a stew. The pork belly broth is full of flavor. The bean sprouts and the cabbage gave the stew a nice crunch. A very hearty and filling meal. The service was outstanding. I will be back for sure.“
“Gave Sushi 35 West a visit in person and was amazed seeing the chefs preparing delivery orders in bulk! The place is hidden in a Deli/Smoke shop second floor walk up, there are three small folding tables with six chairs. The atmosphere is not really for a relaxed consumption of the delicious sushi, but ai did it anyway ;) The Sushi & Sashimi Box for $40 was delicious. Next time I go for the online order. Thanks!“
“Great place to stop by for a simple omakase lunch. Theres a small seating counter in the back for about 10-12 people. We had 10 pieces of fish with 2 rolls. The fish of the day was mackeral and fluke. Some of my favorites were the torched sable fish and scallop. Service was great and the staff were friendly.“
“An exquisite gem for a romantic rendezvous! The Omakase experience at this restaurant is nothing short of culinary poetry. Each dish, a masterpiece, meticulously crafted with the finest ingredients. The intimate atmosphere and impeccable service make it an ideal choice for a memorable Valentine's Day celebration. They also have a great Sake selection including some hard to find bottles!! Tons of five-star reviews are well-deserved; it’s a true gift to the senses!“
“Excellent omakase for an excellent price. We had an amazing, friendly chef. The way he sliced the scallop was truly amazing, I had never seen anything like that and I’ve been to many omakase’s. Our waitress was lovely and the timing is the courses was perfect! We would definitely come again !“
“Love this place! The sushi is so fresh and tasty. And reasonably priced. Free green tea pudding with Yelp check in! The pudding is topped with a spoonful of sweetened red beans. A delicious dessert! My favorite is salmon and here, it's melt in your mouth fresh and yummy. My favorite dish here is the Salmon Lover. It's salmon four ways plus a side of kani salad with some roe on top. Thick generous portions of sashimi, also has sushi, salmon avocado roll, and a grilled salmon collar (when available, otherwise you get 2 pieces of salmon belly). This place is so good, in one week, I went 3 times and still not tired of it. Not crazy about the chicken kaarage. The pieces are too small so when fried, it becomes dry and loses its juicy tenderness. Tried some skewers. A tad on the dry side. I'd stick with the sushi. Though the skewers were very popular with the kids at the table. Service. Attentive. Tea constantly being refilled. Decor. It's a small place. Lots of wood decor. The space is narrow with seating to the left and right. In front, a few private mini booth rooms covered with a curtain, line the side of the restaurant. These can seat up to 4 people. There is also a small party room downstairs. In the back, you can sit in front of the sushi chefs if you like, at a high counter.“
“TL;DR: It was FIRE!!!This was by far the most amazing experience I have ever had. From the friendliest Chefs to the amazing flavorful melt in your mouth courses . Chef Ben and Chef Kong were very polite and educated us on what we were eating and had some lovely jokes. It was great to see everything prepared right in front of you and fresh. The pace of when the courses came out was perfect and not rushed at all. The place is small but understandable why they do the reservations the way they do it. I highly recommend going here!“
“My friends treated me and my wife to dinner here as an engagement present. We all had a wonderful time and thought the food was top notch. On top of the fresh fish and impeccable presentations, I really appreciated that Don was so accommodating to dietary restrictions. Many restaurants serving omakase are unwilling to make changes. I would absolutely come back again and recommend this to anyone.“
“Pros: Good food! After a few visits we tried all of the small plates and rolls on the menu and everything was delicious. Fun cocktails. Cozy and comfortable. (Try to get seated on the perimeter of the space, the tables in the center of the room can feel a little claustrophobic.) Fairly priced. Cons: Uneven service. On two separate visits, the server forgot my drink. The server on our last visit was downright surly; she really seemed like she did not want to be there at all and spent most of the evening ignoring us. And, also during our last visit, we almost turned around and left because it looked like the place was closed. It was dusk, all the lights and signage were turned off, tables and chairs were stacked out front and a large pile of cardboard recycling was waiting to be picked up. I only saw that there were lights and people in the back of the space when I was out front.“
“Has such a yummy and pleasant omakase experience in Astoria on a week night, thanks to That Place. The restaurant is so beautifully decorated and clean. The host/server was so attentive and sweet during the entire 1.5hr experience - my water/tea was refilled almost automatically after every sip. Same is also included in the omakase pricing which is really nice for drinkers ! The chefs worked together and created really delicious pieces- every one was super yummy. Their matcha ice cream and cheesecake were also so good ! Overall, was such a great experience and will definitely be back again for a weeknight or weekend dinner.“
“By far the best omakase experience I've had in NYC. I went with my partner to celebrate our anniversary and we do omakase a lot since it's our favorite. This place blew our mind — you have to do the bougie omakase at the counter — SO AMAZING. The ambiance, staff, quality of food and chef was truly outstanding and so affordable. I'll be a regular here and can't wait to be back soon.“
“Absolutely my favorite place for sushi. When you order the omakase you aren't just served different cuts of fish you may be familiar with like bluefin tuna but rather get a series of carefully crafted pieces combining flavors you'd never expect. Whenever friends visit New York, I always suggest Sushi “
“Have come here a couple times for dinner. Both times, we tried different dishes that were both classic Japanese food and also some unique specials. The last time we went we sat in the back of the restaurant past the kitchen, which is quite crowded. There was a table of screaming children (standing on their chairs screaming), being really disruptive which affected our experience a bit. Food is top notch, and service is extremely friendly.“
“If you love hand rolls you have to visit this place! Full many of different types of hand rolls that freshly made one by one. There are no tables only huge bar. They do serve soft drinks, beers and sake.To get there you will have to wait in line , they don’t take any reservations. They do have couple options to choose from, last time I ordered 5 for $29 and it was great choice. Fresh fish, warm rice and crispy nori. Will definitely Come back again and again.Felt a little bit rush after my 3rd rolls, chef was making them one by one but I didn’t have time to finish previous yet and new one was coming out to soon.“
“This sushi restaurant left a deep impression on me. Their sushi is delicious and soft and glutinous, which gives me an endless aftertaste. At the same time, their production process is excellent, and each sushi is carefully made and matched, will come back for sure.“
“My family and I went to the Lobster club for dinner and in short it was amazing. The food was so unique but soo delicious, there wagyu dishes especially. Of course we had to get a lobster dish which we ended up getting two orders of, the restaurant itself is so beautiful. As soon as you walk in you see a beautiful scenery. The service was good cant complain about anything they were able to accommodate for my moms birthday and bring out a cake which was very nice and there dessert selection is very unique as well! Overall I would definitely come back, this restaurant is definitely on the pricer side but it definitely worth it once you take that first bite!“
“A little hard to find as it's in a basement with no obvious sign. But under the stairway is a lovely Korean Japanese fusion place.Creamy kimchi udon was undoubtedly the best. The udon was chewy and the shrimp was fresh. The creamy sauce was simply delicious without being too heavy.Eel don was great too. I like the egg and seaweed on the rice. There was a bit too much rice for the size of eel though.Oden - great dish for winter. This may be my bias, but I think having Oden in the restaurant is a bit too formal and defeats the purpose... I miss Oden in the convenience store more!“
“Nestled discreetly in the East Village, The Office of Mr. Moto beckons with its cozy atmosphere and impeccable hospitality. The setting exudes exclusivity, providing an ideal canvas for a memorable dining experience. While the service remains outstanding, it's important to remember that taste is subjective; while some sushi selections stand out, others are merely satisfactory, in my opinion, especially considering the premium pricing. Nevertheless, credit must be given to the charming chef, whose skill and dedication are evident in every dish.Despite this, The Office of Mr. Moto continues to attract patrons seeking an intimate ambiance and flawless service.“
“I have been here for both dinner and lunch. I prefer the dinner menu over their lunch menu because of the bigger portions and wider variety, but the dinner menu is available at lunch as well. For dinner, my partner got the braised short rib which he was very pleased with. I got the set of four hand rolls which all tasted fresh and delicious. The hand rolls are more like open sushi tacos. There was a lot of filling so I ended up being fuller than I expected. For lunch, we had the lunch bento set which included a small portion of an entrée, a miso soup or salad, and a hand roll of your choice for about $25 depending on your entree. The teriyaki is on the milder side. Overall, I am happy to have this little gem in Brooklyn. Besides the good food, service has always been exceptional too.“
“Great affordable omakase! Brought my boyfriend here for his birthday. He wanted to sit at the end of the counter and they accommodated us no problem. They had 3 chefs making sushi, so anywhere you sat at that counter you had a great view! Pretty big place with cute decorations. The rice was perfect and the fish was delicious! The uni and ikura oyster was to die for! The eel hand roll at the end was very memorable and I don’t always love eel. We got the 2oz sake pairing. They also had a 3oz option. As someone who handles their alcohol pretty well, I was quite tipsy by the end. So I would say it’s safe to just get the 2oz option. All of the sake paired great with the fish and at the end, they gave us lots of extra sake! Overall delicious food with friendly chefs!“
“This place is fantastic! Much-needed for the neighborhood - incredible staff, food, and ambience. The sake selection is unique and extensive, and the sushi was the best I’ve had in years. I went here for breakfast and dinner while staying at the hotel next door. My new go-to spot! Excellent food and service. The sashimi of the day for 2 was incredibly fresh and delicious - the tuna literally melted in my mouth! The "sushi bombs" prepared by the chef were outstanding, including eel, sea urchin, and squid. We finished with some delicious fried chicken, cooked to order. All this in a low-key, minimalist setting in the Lower East Side. Go!“
“I was visiting from Florida to see family and we decided to come here for my birthday. I haven’t been back since Chef David left and I was a bit nervous of coming back but I went for it anyways, all I can say is WOW! From Bob Moses playing in the background to the exceptional hospitality and delicious Omakase. I can say I’ll be back every time I visit thank you Sushi Dojo you truly are a gem!“
“Truly enjoyed my first omakase experience. I got so lucky to have Yama-san to be my chef for the night. His skills were amazing and each nigiri was served with a smile and hospitality. I am sure there are omakases out there that deserve the highest praises but for me, I’ll hold this experience dear because each and every course I had were so heartwarming and I could see the integrity in Yama-san as a sushi chef. I came to this omakase alone but I did not feel as such because he made me feel welcomed. I did not think I would learn so much in an hour, while being served food. It was such a delightful experience. I hope to have him again next time I visit NYC.“
“'Twas a pleasant experience. Itamae DC made my experience a good one as this omakase dinner was one to remember with the unique and innovative courses that I have never had before. This was the first time I had potato chips on any of my omakase courses. Fish was fresh and exceptionally prepared. Atmosphere was different from other restaurants like this, but that is okay. Getting out of my comfort zone - that's our purpose of living, right?Itamae DC was down to earth and made conversation, which made me feel very welcomed during my dinner here. Prices are reasonable for experiences like this in the city.“
“I discovered Shinn East when they first opened either right before or during Covid. Till this date, this spot is my go to omakase given their high value for money offering. It is extremely well priced for the amount of pieces that you get and the quality and freshness of their fish is excellent. Service is also excellent. Both indoor and outdoor seating are really good. Highly recommend.“
“What an experience! The food, service, and ambiance were great! Sitting at a communal table where everyone is served all at once is an interesting concept. You get to see other diners reactions to each course and in between you can converse with other everyone, including the staff. Each dish was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will gladly return.“
“AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING! If you're in NYC you absolutely HAVE to go. The chef was absolutely amazing, you'll meet a wonderful gentleman who will help navigate the experience as well. The ambience was exceptional. Great music, people, and vibes. I would have eaten here several more times if we had the chance. Experience AND food was 10/10. Highly recommend and absolutely WILL be back next time we're in New York!“
“I recently experienced the Taikun Omakase splendor in Miami. I Felt in love with it, but what impressed me the most is somehow they new I really enjoyed a Blueberry muffin and a glass of milk after dinner. So at the end of the experience they brought me 2 blueberry muffins and a glass of milk. First time "someone" did this out of the blue....Я.А“
“Ordered delivery via Seamless, the food arrived hot and the amount was overflowing in the boxes. Definitely surprised us. Ask for extra teriyaki sauce because it makes it taste so good. The shumai was delicious. I think it would be better to either eat there and order for pick up because my only issue was the fees on the app. Definitely recommend this place and would be ordering more in the future and also telling friends and family to check them out“
