“My last visit here was flawless from start to finish. The quality of the food is top-tier; the sashimi platter featured some of the freshest, most beautifully sliced raw fish I've had in a long time. We also started with the edamame and the pan-fried pork gyoza, which was perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. Beyond the incredible food, the service was outstanding. The staff is genuinely welcoming, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. This has quickly become a favorite spot highly recommend!“

“I came here a friend and had 2 rolls (salmon and tuna), one sea urchin, and one wagyu single piece. All the food was incredible. Some of the best sushi I've had in my life. My friend had 2 vegetarian rolls, which both were delicious. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that enjoys higher quality sushi, especially at lunch since they have some discounted rolls.“

“Fantastic speakeasy sushi joint. Very small, no more than an handful of people may join the omasake style bar where 3 talented (and cool) chefs serve you the best crafted sushi you can get. Definitely going back soon.“

“My daughter chose this for a birthday dinner. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was fantastic. Audrey was our server. She was extremely knowledgeable of the menu, made great recommendations, she was there when we needed her without being there too often. I would highly recommend Rosella Sushi. Can’t wait to get back to New York City and return for a meal here. It also makes it extra cool when Chef Jeff is wearing a Florida Gator hat!“

“Genki Omakase is a great spot and easily one of the most affordable quality omakase experiences in the city. The fish is fresh, the pieces are well prepared, and the overall experience feels like a great value compared to many other omakase spots. It’s a nice balance of quality, price, and atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out if you want a good omakase experience without spending a fortune.“

“A hidden gem! We stumbled upon this place on a walk and decided to grab a bite. We didn’t have a reservation but was quickly seated with a full bar of other diners for the lunch omakase. Great service, yummy food, and unbeatable pricing. This was such a treat! I will make sure to come back when we are in the area.“

“Sushi Saikou offers a modern omakase experience focused on high-quality fish, creative pairings, and a more personal chef-driven atmosphere. The restaurant has a calm and intimate setting that works well for special occasions, date nights, or anyone looking for a more interactive sushi experience. The counter seating allows you to watch the chefs prepare each course while learning more about the ingredients and techniques behind each piece.
The omakase menu highlights carefully selected seafood, with courses that go beyond traditional sushi by incorporating unexpected flavors and combinations. At around $120/person, the standout creations include premium pieces like toro paired with caviar and truffle, as well as other specialty bites that add richness and texture to the experience. The fish quality is the foundation of the meal, with each piece served with attention to detail.
One of the strongest parts of Sushi Saikou is the hospitality. The chefs and staff create a welcoming environment rather than a purely formal tasting experience. Conversations at the counter make the meal feel more personal, and the explanations behind each course add another layer to the dinner.
The pacing is designed around a shorter omakase format, which makes it easier to fit into an evening, although those looking for a longer, slower tasting experience may want to consider the course options and any additional pieces. The portion sizes are refined and focused on quality over quantity.
Overall, Sushi Saikou delivers a polished omakase experience with excellent fish, creative dishes, and warm service. It is a strong choice for anyone looking for a memorable sushi dinner where the interaction with the chef is just as important as the food itself.“

“Good experience, especially with the happy hour special. The food is okay now, premium sushi set , the fish is average at best, cooked food is also average. Restaurant focus more on profit now I believe. Decor and service are still excellent“

“My favorite omakase place in the city that I have been to the most often. Not crazy fancy, but the fish selection and quality just special enough that it’s not a commodity either. I also appreciate the approachable selection of sake. Perfect omakase bar for a quarterly visit :-)
Chef and hosts are all very nice and kind to share stories and experiences.“

“Warm staff and delicious classic Japanese sushi.
The fish was incredibly fresh and the rice perfectly seasoned.
Might be the best spot in the Hudson yard area, and the locals seem to know it based on the take out order rate. Everything was delicious and efficient. Can’t wait to come back.“

“Had such a great experience at Zen Sushi Omakase. The entire 14-course omakase was paced perfectly, and you can really tell the chef adjusts the timing based on each table, which made the experience feel relaxed and thoughtful instead of rushed.
The progression of the meal was super well balanced. It started with lighter white fish like flounder and sea bream, then gradually moved into richer cuts like striped jack, isaki, and salmon before going full luxury mode with uni, caviar, wagyu, foie gras, otoro, and black truffle.
One of the most memorable bites was their layered wagyu + scallop + foie gras piece. Every layer added something different — rich wagyu fat, sweet scallop, then the creamy foie gras at the end. Definitely one of those “wow” bites you keep thinking about after dinner.
The wagyu toast with monkfish liver and caviar was also incredible. Crispy toast soaked with wagyu fat, creamy ankimo spread, and salty caviar on top created such a rich but balanced bite. It felt like a really fun NYC-style fusion omakase moment.
Another highlight was the lightly torched otoro with black truffle. The tuna completely melted in my mouth and the truffle aroma slowly opened up as you ate it.
I also loved the miso cod and caviar rice bowl at the end. The cod was buttery and smoky from the grill, the caviar added a perfect salty umami flavor, and the vinegared rice balanced everything surprisingly well. The uni on the side was super sweet and fresh with zero fishiness.
What really made the experience stand out was the atmosphere. The chef explained the fish and preparation throughout the meal, and the whole dinner felt interactive and fun rather than overly formal or intimidating like some traditional omakase spots.
For the price, this is honestly one of the best omakase experiences I’ve had in NYC. Definitely a hidden gem in LES and somewhere I would happily come back to.“

“Sushi was some of the best I’ve had. Chefs know what they’re doing with the glazes and sauces.
Service was attentive, but I wish they had more info about the dishes. Info such as ingredients in the sauces, where the fish came from etc.
The service was also very authentic to Japan in the sense that they were rigid about timing and when we were allowed to order certain things. If you missed your chance to order certain sections of the menu they wouldn’t take the order. lol it felt just like being in Japan.
HOWEVER they did accommodate an unusual dietary restriction and we very much appreciated that.
I think it’s fair because there’s no tip (it’s included in the price). Which is also true to Japan.“

“Fantastic restaurant, the sushi is great quality, and deliciously prepared. Also a great happy hour menu! Prices are reasonable for NYC sushi, and they have something for everyone (if you don’t like sushi, there are other more meat forward options.) It was my second time there, and I hope to get back soon!“
“Absolutely outstanding experience at Prime No.7. David looked after me from start to finish and his customer service was genuinely 10/10. He was friendly, professional, and took his time to make sure everything was perfect. You can tell he really cares about his customers and takes pride in his work. Easily the best service I’ve had in a long time. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending David to everyone I know.“

“Fabulous, in every way. Kinoko was amazing, deluxe sushi plate included more sashimi than advertised, including rarities like snapper and 3 different grades of tuna. Reasonably priced saki and the matcha tiramisu was decadent with perfect lady fingers. One of the best sushi meals of my life.“

“Pros: Good spot, good food, good sushi selection for being a small space. Cons: Place was very busy when we went (6/13/21) and service was slow. Took 20 minutes to get dessert. Some of our plates and soy dishes were not well cleaned from previous use. Ordered and was charged for two dishes to go, but only one was actually packed. Overall 3 stars due to the cons we experienced, but hoping that was just catching them at a bad time.“

“This is one of the best Omakase in town. As a lover of omakase, it is becoming one of my favorites. The 17-course meal is to perfection, one piece after the other. The location is fantastic, and the atmosphere makes it want to come back over and over again. The quality of the fish and other ingredients is the best, the pieces are refined to perfection. Highly recommended. If you are a sushi lover, do not miss this one.“

“Shota is as close to dining in Tokyo as you may find in New York. An absolute dream experience with every detail perfectly tailored to your needs. We recently attended the 3 year anniversary of this Michelin star restaurant and could not have enjoyed a meal more. While it is definitely a bank breaker for most, this is one of New York’s most delicious restaurants accompanied by some of the finest service you’ll find in the city. If budget allows, always go with the sake pairing. It’s a game changer. Love the team here so very much. They treat you like family every visit.“

“TSUMO – UWS was an absolute blast.
We went as a group of six and had such a fun, high‑energy experience from start to finish. The vibe is lively without feeling chaotic, and the staff clearly loves what they do, which makes a huge difference.
The omakase was AMAZING, especially for the price. Every piece felt thoughtful, fresh, and beautifully prepared. Starting with the 13 initial pieces was perfect, and we loved being able to add more afterward. It made the whole experience feel flexible and indulgent without pressure.
Great food, great energy, and a format that works perfectly for a group night out. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend. 🍣✨“

“Tsubomi is one of the most authentic Japanese restaurants I have visited in New York. The restaurant is run by Chef Genta and his wife, Beth, and their warm hospitality makes every guest feel at home.
Chef Genta trained extensively in traditional kaiseki cuisine in several cities across Japan and also perfected his sushi craftsmanship at the renowned Ginza Kyubey, one of Japan’s most respected sushi restaurants.
What makes Tsubomi special is that you can enjoy truly high quality sushi and traditional Japanese foods in a cozy and charming setting without the intimidating formality often associated with fine dining. Their lunch menu is especially affordable, and every dish is prepared with exceptional care and technique.
If you are looking for genuine Japanese foods and expertly crafted sushi, I highly recommend Tsubomi. It is a restaurant I will happily return to again and again.“
“Deliciously inexpensive omakase. The chef was serving 6 people at a time, and it appears that some of the patrons were in a rush, so the courses were served a bit hurriedly. However, since our party was not in a rush, we were able to hangout after the 13 D
delicious courses were served.
This is the most inexpensive and delicious omakase in NYC!“

“I love sushi, and the food at this restaurant is very good. The ingredients are also very fresh. The most important thing to eat Japanese food is the freshness of the ingredients. Especially raw food. The sushi at this restaurant is quite delicious. The combination of soy sauce and rice, in addition to fresh ingredients. It is simply delicious. Highly recommended to everyone.“
