“Anyone can seemingly make sushi seem better by making it more complex, but the real test is whether they can take the simple and make it excellent. Sushi-Ki-ichi does just that. They stick to the simple offerings, leading to an experience that feels less Americanized than other Japanese restaurants. That's not to say I don't love some level of creativity, but you don't need it here. That's because the family that owns Sushi Ki-ichi wants to create an authentic meal - a notion that was confirmed for sure when we had a conversation with the owner. In fact, they take quality to the next level with their equipment and efforts they take to make sure that what they serve is the highest quality, including specific freezers for the fish. We didn't try Sushi Ki-ichi for the first couple of years because we figured that the previous restaurant, a Chinese buffet that had gone downhill and fallen off the cliff, had rebranded and reopened as something new. Now I feel that for those first couple of years, we missed out. This has quickly become my favorite place in Portland. I look forward to any trips I take across town from Vancouver to Tigard, and make a point to stop in and grab a bite.“

“I enjoy taking my wife here to spoil ourselves. I have had many kinds of Ramen from different places, this will always be a favorite. If you are even the slightest curious about trying the place, seriously, do so. You won't leave hungry.“

“So cute and fun! My 8 year old had never been to a Sushi Train before, and had so much fun picking different plates. I addition to all the Sushi rolls there was a bunch of different fruits to choose from, so he ate his fruits, rice and veggies :)They even came to the table with a slice of Oreo Cheesecake and sang. “I saw the negative reviews and was dismayed. BUT when we got there and saw the amount of people who were enjoying themselves. This amount of people would not have been and I was heartened by this. First off the service people. When we asked they were prompt. The sushi filled me up. The variety was astounding. I tried most of their different prepared vegetables dishes. Beef dishes as well. My wife ate her fill of various shellfish and other different kinds of seafood. The little dishes of ice cream was a nice touch for desert. It has a bit of everything for everybody. I highly recommend this restaurant. This is our favorite restaurant. Easy to find. Easy to get to. Lots of parking room.“

Flavor, freshness, execution of literally every single detail (even ones you don't think about until you're made to notice), and the fact it's all accessibly priced kinda made me cry when i tried food from here the other day.

For lack of a quicker comparison, this is like Elden Ring coming out after years of being told the best you can get is sysco-sourced AAA reboots of the same "deliverable" concepts.

I want to experience this place's food for the rest of my life.

“This was some of the best sushi we’ve ever had. We sat at the bar and got to watch the chef make each piece, which he then described to us at each step through the tasting menu. We went early and it was a very quiet setting. We’ll definitely go back for another special occasion!“

“This hands down is one of my favorite restaurants in Portland OR. It the same quality of other top spots in the US like Nobu , O-Ya , and Morimoto . The location is perfect located in the Pearl district. The chefs are high quality and the fish is extremely fresh. They have a great but simple flavor approach. The traditional Japanese design aesthetic includes a sushi bar and table seating in a comfortable ambience perfect for quiet dining for individuals and groups. Service is attentive and prompt. The Chirashi Bowl is my favorite because fresh lemon, wasabi and shoyu sauce highlight the assorted sashimi and rice. As in Japanese cuisine, where it’s believed to have digestive benefits, a small vibrantly-colored Dendrobium orchid blossom is an edible, delicately-flavored garnish on each dish. 🌸“

“I have Koya on my list for a while and finally dined there. It was such a great experience! We were able to sit right away at the sushi bar. The miso soup to start is very refreshing. Toro Party and Nigiri are so fresh. I love the thick cut they do on the sashimi. I Would definitely recommend and come back.“

“I happened to end up here for lunch when I was having a particularly bad day. Thanks to the super sweet gal behind the counter and delicious meal, this place really cheered me up! I love the wide array of options and all the fish and veggies I got tasted so good and fresh. The complimentary miso soup was much appreciated as well! The only thing I think could be better is the rice - the white rice I got was pretty dry. A well seasoned sticky sushi rice would make this already great meal perfect.

“Ordered from here for takeout. Usually order Mio Sushi and this place blew them away! The pork katsu and beef teriyaki in the bento box were sooooo good. Also the California rolls, seaweed salad, dragon rolls and salmon sashimi were fresh and tasty as well! Highly recommend this place!“

“The rolls here are great! I typically get the Takuma roll and the Oregon roll, and they're both incredibly flavorful. I also really love the portions for the price, I can get two rolls for about $26- which is way cheaper than other sushi places in Hillsboro. The service is great, and it's a nice little location. SEATING : not a ton of seats, but haven’t had trouble getting a table on a weekday. may need to make a reservation on the weekend.

“This was my first here. I've been to many sushi spots in Oregon. I should have given this wonderful, friendly and delicious place alot sooner.
The staff is amazing! Very kind and attentive. The conveyor belt is full of fresh delicious sushi, sashimi, dessert and fruit.
Everything was fresh and delicious. We will be back.

“What a night and day difference from the Hawthorne location!

I went here because my gf said she got sushi here and I was shocked, because my impression of Mio was not good based on the other location. But trust is important in a relationship, so I decided to give it a shot.

I couldn't believe how good the sushi was. It rivaled my favorite place to go, and it's a better price point.

Service was great, and the waiter was attentive and friendly.

I looked around and there were no boxes sitting on the floor. This seems like a really weird thing to say unless you've been to the Hawthorne location, which is cluttered. Clearly the staff here care more.

Highly recommended if you're in this area. Get the salmon ngiri and the Oregon roll!“
