I requested a specially prepared curry vegetable dish, and the chef/owner was happy to create it for me. Several of our party enjoyed tikki masala with chicken. We also enjoyed lentils, cooked to perfection and wonderful chocolate lava cake for dessert. The service was impecable. Our waiters were so attentive and responsive, even though it was a very busy night. The ambience was warm and classy. The chef/owner was so gracious and even visited us at our table. “My husband and I enjoyed a lovely meal at Grisette from the warm greeting by Andreas to the final sip of French press coffee. Charcuterie selections varied and wonderful. Felt mustards overpowered our cheese selections so that could be passed, depending on your selections. The berry puree fabulous, do not pass on this! On site prepared bread is excellent and another plate delivered with a smile. We enjoyed pork milanese and steak frites, both with delicious flavor, frites done to perfection, pork had wonderful crisp coating and served with a lemon wedge. Milanese needs its lemon, love it. Accompanying petit salad a perfect match with it's vinaigrette. Finally, although not needed, we had to taste the excellent house profiteroles as well as their special dessert of peach with pecan crumb tart. Oh my, what a peach treat to our taste buds. Seasonal so have to get there soon. This was our maiden voyage to Grisette but, happily, our relationship will continue. A lovely bistrot where you can dine comfortably dressed, relax and enjoy a delightful meal.”

“On 08/03/2022, my wife and I brought our cousins here to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The food and service was excellent. Our waiter was Sean. HOWEVER, during the reservation process, I was asked at least twice if there was a celebration and if so what type. I indicated on both occasions that it was a anniversary. I just assumed that when I was asked about the occasion that this occasion would somehow be acknowledged. It wasn't. (Happy anniversary). I heard the waiter at the table next to ours wish the celebrants a happy anniversary. Also, based on other reviews on this site, I noticed that a dessert was given to the celebrants as a memento. Not to our party. As I said, the service and food were excellent but missing the little "happy anniversary" left me and my wife feeling a little empty.”

Got there at 745 and there was already somebody outside waiting in the pouring rain and then more and more people started getting out of the parked cars to wait for the 8 o'clock opening (figured that's gotta be a good sign)
Have to say all of you that suggested Sub Rosa Bakery weren't wrong. Not sure what those things we were eating before were but they weren't croissants ?
we got plain, almond, chocolate and then based off recommendation of guy behind me in line grabbed a seasonal pastry (squash and pesto) and a cherry pistachio pastry
So far we've only tried the plain and almond and they were delicious, flaky and buttery

“I Enjoyed the chicken shawarma. I have never tried one before and it did have different flavors than I normally eat, it was good. It is not a lot of food but a fair size for a sandwich type item. My daughter got the kids 3 p. chicken tenders and that was a large amount of food lots of fries, extra crispy chicken tenders, piping hot. We also tried the chocolate baklava it was good and very sweet, I think I prefer traditional baklava but I am glad I tried it.
I was very surprised they were not busy at all, Wednesday at noon.”

“The waiter didn’t seem too happy.? He was short with us and not welcoming. That really left me not wanting to eat there but my kid wanted pho after a long ride from Virginia Beach. (And people have crappy days.) The pho was okay. Broth was okay. Noodles a little over cooked. They did not skimp on the meat so that was a plus. Ordered chicken pho but got veggie pho and that was okay because my other kid was grounded anyway. Veggie pho would definitely make the list of foods to give your grounded kid. She hated it and was pretty mad. I guess that’s a plus.
We paid. Waited for the receipt to sign and tip but there was nothing. All in all, it wasn’t the worse experience -just awkward.

“We were in town visiting for a conference, and we found the restaurant online. We headed to the restaurant, but when we got there the owner explained that the restaurant had just closed for the evening. He gave us a few recommendations on other places to eat, and we started to search for an Uber. A few minutes later, the owner, Tysean, opened the door and offered to go back in the kitchen and cook something for us. We couldn’t pass that offer up. We waited for a few minutes, and he brought us out some of the best chicken I’ve eaten in a long time along with some, nicely seasoned potato wedges and hot buttery honey biscuits. Along with some honey mustard dipping sauce and sweet tea to wash it all down, we had an amazing meal. I’ll definitely be back, and you should visit if you are in Richmond.”

The Steamed Veggie Bun was very tasty. The filling for that is like eating the filling of a veg eggroll. Both of the above buns were perfectly steamed! The Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings were my fave- so yummy, juicy, and just a great flavor. I would have liked a variety of sauce options instead of the same dipping sauce for the buns & dumplings to jazz things up a bit, but this was a really nice dining experience. Pretty traditional in terms of the sauce. The site is not allowing me to post pics with this review but the filling was pretty generous in both buns as well as in the dumplings. The Chicken Soup was just ok- it's missing a little something, maybe just needs some seasoning.”

“We've been going across town to the Broad Street location for years, but live in Midlothian. We were so happy when they told us they were opening up a sister location in Chesterfield, just 7 minutes from Midlothian! We were NOT disappointed! The place was packed, yet we were seated, offered drinks, asked about ordering, and receiving our food all in a very timely manner. And, just like the other location, the food was sooooo tasty! My apologies to the Broad Street location, but I'll probably eat here more than there.”

Our server Janie is the sweetest baby angel and also just dang stellar at her job. She even got the toddler’s food out first despite us forgetting to even mention it. She anticipated every need, and was perfect with giving us space to enjoy each other’s company balanced with making sure any wants were met. The lovely gal even went on a field trip to find us a dipping sauce for the toddler. Also, she has perfect skin. She’s just a gem.

“Great welcome, great atmosphere, simple and chill. As a family visiting the area this place was a really pleasant stop on the trip. We got suggestions, we were asked if we were enjoying the food, and the prices were very reasonable. We even got two pieces of pie. This place had bubble machines parading the small patio as you walked up even. Just a great group of people in a nice quirky college area. I don't know how long they will have this but the refrigerator lemon meringue pie was amazing. Favorite thing!”

The eggrolls were missing from my doordash delivery, and I called and he was ready to use his resources to make sure I got them and I heard the woman telling him she was sure they were in the order since she cooked them to order. I placed a second order the next day and he included the eggrolls with that order. The food is so good, and the customer service is seriously on point as well. On the rare occations that I do order food, this will 100% be my go to, the singapore curry noodles are out of this world (and I am not usually a fan of curry). I very highly recommend!”

“Visited Sugar Magnolia at the new farmers market in Scott’s Addition by Workshop T&D and it was PHENOMENAL!My fiancé and I got the focaccia, bread knot rolls and vegan banana bread. The breads were fresh and it was perfect for our dinner later that night. Considering bread at the grocery store costs $3-6 on average, getting fresh bread that tastes better at relatively the same price from Sugar Magnolia is a no brainer!Ella (the owner and baker) even gave us recommendations on how to pair the focaccia with dinner entrees… impeccable customer service!We’ll definitely be back and would highly encourage others to check them out!

“I purchased Korean fried chicken with a side of pickled radishes on 7/8/24 Suemi waited on me. The chicken was absolutely delicious but the pickled radishes were rancid. I attempted to call the restaurant to notify them but no one answered. .”

“Food was good, except the brussel sprouts, unfortunately they had no real flavor. It took some time for a server to come take our order, I'll give a bit of a pass on that because we did sit in a section that was closed off and on the other side, we were the first ones over there. It took a while for our food to come out after ordering. And I don't like how gratuity was added for just two people and nowhere on the menu did it say gratuity would be included. Which is why the service /server wasn't all that attentive. I think that it's worth trying out, because that just could've been a bad day and time. And as I stated, the food was pretty good. Some items seem to be overpriced to me, but I'll go back and order the items that are worth the price.”
