“I gave the China Village a 5 star rating because they have the best Kung Pao Chicken around. However, I noticed a few changes, adjacent to the quality of the dish. I used to get a huge serving, so I knew I was going to take some home and have at least enough for another meal/large snack, including a side order of rice. Not today. It was a good-sized serving and I felt full when I finished, but I could easily eat it all in one sitting, and I've never experienced that before. Also, we used to get a small bowl of miso soup and a small green salad with the entree and they don't do that anymore either. I will have to try the fish soup with all the chilis next time. I'm noticing rave reviews here. I also want to get lobster with pan fried noodles. It's on their online specials menu, but I didn't see it on their "specials" whiteboard in the restaurant.“
“Excellent service! Recommend Peking Duck, whole crab with vermicelli & prime steak with mushrooms. Excellent veggie (Yu Chou) stir fried with garlic cloves. Food was well seasoned but not salty nor greasy. Small'ish dining room so reservations are a must“
“One of the best dumplings I've tried! The line on weekends lunch wasn't too bad, it was about 30min ish. Everything was just on point! I was shocked to see the XLB to be see through but yet it wouldn't break. My favorite was the mala spicy XLB, the soup was delicious with just a little bit of a kick of the numbing spicy flavor! The spicy red chili dumpling was filled with the nutty flavor of peanut with just a dap of chili oil for the fragrance. Hands down one of the best dumpling places that I wouldn't mind waiting in line for~“
“I grew up in a Chinese restaurant so my bar for any kind of Chinese food is very high. There are rarely ever any Chinese restaurants that I'd return to, never mind feel confident in bringing other people with me... this is one of those rare gems. Not only is the food fantastic, but the service has been really nice. I love this place and would recommend a visit to try any of their items. My favorites are the pan fried pork juicy bao, braised beef noodle soup, green beans, and pig ears. All of their recipes are super authentic.“
“Amazing food and service at a great price point! This is my go-to neighborhood spot. I’ve ordered take-out 10+ times and have also dined in many times. The staff are quick and very friendly - and the food is delicious!! Highly recommend the Shanghai rice cakes, sautéed pea shoots, general chicken, and twice cooked pork.“
“You can tell a spot is a good food establishment when you see all the hard-working folks pulling up. Not in the best neighborhood, but life isn't perfect. Had to check out their comfort food. They didn't miss. Delicious(deep fried) chicken. rice, and potatoes alongside coleslaw. Got to support more of Latino Chinese restaurant.. they even gave me a tea“
“Overall 6.7/10 Was really excited to try this place and came for dinner a few days ago. I wasn't super enthusiastic about the meal; my husband liked it a lot better than I did. Service was great throughout. We did the high top reservation and they're in a little half nook; interior was nice. We ordered the Shrimp Chips, Stemple Creek Beef with Hong Kong Noodles, and Peking Duck. Shrimp chips were basic ships with some malt vinegar; nothing super exciting but tasty. The noodles I did not like at all; had one small serving and was done with them. I thought they had a weird tomato flavor to them. My husband loved them and finished the dish for us. Peking Duck was interesting. It comes with crepes, cucumbers, cilantro, some green onions, peanut hoisin sauce, and a mousse. Peanut hoisin was good - I was a bit concerned, but it was nice. The crepes were thicker than normal - again a little concerned, but when eating it was perfectly pleasant. The duck itself it almost a bit of a BBQ duck -- it wasn't the typical Peking Duck that you get at Chinese restaurants. If you do want the typical Peking Duck flavor, I wouldn't recommend this. It was good though. The duck itself was really fatty, which I wasn't as big a fan of. Overall, it was an ok Peking Duck -- wasn't my favorite, but definitely a fun option if you want a different style. As noted in other reviews, even though we did reserve a duck with the reservation it does take an hour to come out. The wait staff did try to pace out our dishes so we didn't feel like we had to wait a really long time for it, but just a warning if you order it be prepared to wait.“
“Incredible food, quality, very competitively priced. A great example of fresh californian ingredients paired with amazing chinese cooking. Ray was also one of the best waiters I’ve had - Michelin star level service from him. Super attentive, it was almost like he had a sixth sense for what you needed within seconds without ever feeling like he was overbearing. Seriously impressive.“
“GC gets docked a star for two reasons: 1) limited access because the line is so long (reservations are only taken for parties of 6+) and 2) the kung pao chicken is disappointing. As an institution, GC has been the best Chinese food in the area for decades. It was once so small you could shoot an arrow from the front door to the back wall. Its corner spot now on Oxford & Bancroft is massive in comparison, so now more people can wait to get in. The space is modern and bright, but the food is thankfully not fusion or fanciful. The food is exactly what it says on the door: Great China. From the plump (but crisped-skin) potstickers to the mu shu pork to the spicy green beans to the Peking duck, it is deliciously predictable. When I order ma po tofu, I know I'm going to get silken cubes of tofu in a thickened shiny spicy red sauce with ground pork in perfect proportion. Service is as friendly as Chinese gets and effortlessly efficient and fast. Parking sucks; it's downtown Berkeley, people. But if my San Fran friends long to come here, you know it's worth the hassle.“
“We were in town for just a few days and discovered this amazing dim sum on our last day…of course we had to heat there for lunch AND dinner. Everything we had was so fresh, and had a depth of flavor and authenticity that just isn’t that common. Do yourself a favor and eat here as soon as you can, and often.“
“Ryan is so awesome. I mistakenly order pick up at their Fremont location, he was able to help me to cancel it although it was all made ready to go, and help me reorder at Richmond location again. Food here always so awesome amazing, plus outstanding customer service. Love this place!“
“The place makes me feel like I’m back home in Shanghai and maybe better As someone who used to live near Guyi Garden in Shanghai, I can say the soup dumplings are exactly how I like them. The dough isn’t too skin or too soft and has a delightful little chewiness. The pork and crab filling is tender, juicy, and not greasy. There can be a bit more crab yolk but i didn’t expect much across the ocean.I adore the small yellow fish in rice wine sauce. It has become a rare find even in Shanghai comparing with the more common smoked fish. The balance of rice wine and sweet flavor is just right.Pea shoots are perfectly cooked.Pork belly with tofu skin knots tastes good too. Not too salty.Love the atmosphere. So glad to hear Shanghainese!! The aunties are very friendly and welcoming. The food isn’t cheap but it definitely worth it.Hope I have time to visit again for other dishes I crave before leaving for England…“
“This is authentic Tian Jin jianbing that is made of mung bean instead of flour. Mung bean is special because it has a much better texture, high in protein and fiber. The taste is great, not ontological salty and not plain, not too sweet. It is just right.Highly recommend!“
“This mom and daughter place is a great deal and the food is very tasty for the most part, but it has quirks. Worth it though for the tasty and cheap food. Quirks:- Very little counter seating inside, and sometimes it’s a very long wait. Cash only- It can take anywhere from 25 min - 50 min to get your takeout order. Call 45 min ahead of time. Even then, be prepared to wait another ~10-15 min by the door when you get there. But it’s because it’s just 2 people taking orders and cooking.- Looks like this may now be fixed, but for several YEARS Google maps said they were open for lunch when they weren’t. Heads up that they open only at 5:30 pm!!- Michelle (the daughter) is very kind overall, but can get a bit curt with customers if they’re crowding the door. I get it though: it’s just 2 of them and a stressful job managing a long line. One time, a guy pushed his way in and knocked over my food that they were about to give me. I appreciated how gracious Michelle was and how well she managed that situation! She kept calm, apologized to me (even though it wasn’t her fault), prioritized making me a replacement dish right away, and offered not to charge me for it.As for the food, it’s tasty and vegetarian friendly! I like the spinach noodles with tofu. The tea leaf salad was a bit too sour and over the top in flavor for my taste, but I liked it a lot more once I added my own cucumbers to it to dilute the flavor. May put it over my own spring mix next time - highly recommend doing that.“
“Kung Food is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for delicious and satisfying Chinese food. Their menu offers a wide variety of dishes, from classic favorites like Mongolian Beef to more adventurous options. I especially like Stir Fried Green Beans freshness of the vegetables. Whether you're a meat lover or a vegetarian, Kung Food has something to satisfy your cravings. Their portions are generous, so you definitely get your money's worth.Overall, Kung Food is a great place to grab a delicious and affordable Chinese meal. I highly recommend checking it out!“
“Without a doubt my new favorite Chinese restaurant in the Bay, and I’ve thoroughly explored Oakland & SF Chinatown! We got the #8 (Taiwan beef brisket noodles) at the highest spice level (it’s really not spicy at all) with their hand pulled noodles and oh. My. Goodness. AMAZING!!! The vinegar in the broth was PERFECT, I didn’t need to add my own seasonings whatsoever. We also got the fried pork and chili won tons which were also delicious! I’ll definitely make the drive down here as often as possible!! Super happy to support this new small, local business. Also shout out to the service, because it was some of the best I’ve gotten in a long time. So kind!“
“I visited this place 3 times. The first time when it first opened years ago. The second time last year and the third not too long ago .But my last visits are my favorite visits ? ?.I love the sweet corn dumplings. I love the cucumbers salad. The sauce that is in the cucumber Salad I use as a dipping sauce for my dumplings. The green onion pancake, though? Can I get three orders of that, please? Lol super simple yet very delicious.I tried their soup for the first time. The beef noodle I love the broth, flavorful but not salty at all. Just right. The service is always attentive and kind.I am looking forward to trying the chicken soup and more dumplings for my next visit ?“
“Food was delicious! The chicken wings really are super delicious and super crispy. The service was really fast and the people were very nice and the atmosphere was very homie. It was just a little quite so you feel like you can’t speak very loud.“
“This place is a must when visiting San Fran. I do my research before going on a trip and this place was recommended by a few people. I know that you often hear more about the Golden Gate Bakery but there was a long line and I was not going to wait to try their egg tart. I'm glad I didn't sit in that line. We grabbed a few items to go and of course we tried their egg tart. It was warm and crispy. We also order some gelatin looking pastries, matcha cake, and sweet bread. Everything was great.“
“I can honestly say if you go here you will not at all regret it! The atmosphere is super nice, the staff is amazing, and the food! The food was absolutely amazing and between the 3 of us we ordered way too much but everything was delicious, definitely worth the trip!“
“delish. I had the Chongqing street noodles and they ruled. also had the cucumber, which was delicious (I'm not even a huge cucumber fan but the sauce was *awesome*). spice level is good if u are like me and like spicy stuff.service was exactly what I wanted it to be: stuff was brought promptly and the ppl were nice. u pay just after ordering so u don't have to call over wait staff after eating, which was actually really nice.“
“Having just arrived in the city, my friend and I were in search of a hefty meal -- fit for two starving children (we're adults). After some arduous googling and thorough research and broken ferry ride -- we arrived, up the stairs into the nook of this restaurant. We ordered the half and half broth, but admittedly wish we had just ordered the non-spicy broth as the spicy broth was just too much and too sour for our taste. But overall, we enjoyed our experience! The meat tasted well and as did the other fresh veggies we had ordered. But what surprisingly elevated this experience was the dessert and drinks. The best advice I can offer in regards to dessert is "Save the best for last." The sweet egg custard buns were an absolute delight. Especially when fresh, the warm custard just sweetly coats your tongue and leaves you satisfied with your meal. After hesitating as to whether or not I should order coconut juice, I finally committed and will admit it just may be one of the best decisions I've made in this lifetime. The coconut was as fresh as it comes, giving me a refreshing and vaguely sweet recovery from the warm broth. At the end of the night I found myself cleaning out its flesh because I found it a waste.“
“This place is one of the best noodle place in San Francisco. I usually order #7 thin or thick with separate soup. The hot soya milk is very good. The service is fast and the owner is very friendly. I eat here for almost 15 years.Parking: Very hard to find a parking.“
“Everything about this restaurant is incredible. Before you even walk in the door, you can watch them making the dumplings, which is so cute. When you order, they come almost immediately back with drinks, even if it's tea. I cannot recommend the xiao long bao enough. They're so tasty, and so soothing after a windy day in San Francisco. Although it is a little pricey because portions are small, it's worth the splurge.“
“Mission Chinese is a delicious hidden gem in the Mission District of SF. Their menu has a lot of "classics" with intriguing twists, such as beef broccoli but with brisket or sour chili chicken with potato. The service was prompt, albeit slightly curt, and the food came out quickly. I really liked the two mains that we got but didn't love the smashed cucumber. The dragon hanging from the ceiling was a nice touch as well. Would certainly recommend to anymore wanting some interesting Chinese food in the Mission District in SF!“
“HELLO. Quit sleeping on CHIC N' TIME!!! Hands down the best chicken wings and popcorn chicken that I have ever had. If I had to choose a last meal - it'd be the peppercorn chicken wing plate and a side of 16oz chicken broth. If I had an Olympic-size swimming pool, I'd drain it and fill it with the Chic n' Time chicken broth and swim in it daily!!! Real talk - this place is amazing. Also - the owners(?)/employees are the sweetest. I can't say enough good things about this place. 10/10 recommend to everyone. Thank you for coming to my Chicken Talk™“
“Dined at Yu Yu Za Zang based on a recommendation from a video on social media. So glad I did! I was not disappointed. Came for a late lunch on a rainy Saturday. Almost every table was full. The restaurant is homey and comfortable. We ordered the zazang myun and gan poong ki. I loved the zazang myun!! The sauce and noodles were tasty, not too salty and had me wanting more. The gan poong ki was also very good. Wasn't too goopy and had a good fry. Not too spicy either. Staff is very friendly and efficient. Definitely recommend dining here!“
“Love of pork Marty Special Shrimp with Cabbage Always have hot and sour soup and if you are there for lunch ask for a second free little bowl of soup and they gladly give Hunan Velvet Chicken Mmm It's on its way now. Been too long .....“
“Staff were super attentive and helpful. We were told to order mild level of spicy and were greatful for the suggestion, as that was plenty spicy for our group. Also their vegan mushroom broth was so flavorful we took some home! Quality was really fresh and I would reccomend this place to my friends as well as plan on coming back!Vegetarian options: Their mushroom stock is super flavorful and an excellent option for everyone!“
“I think I need to do a better job ordering next time bc I am very spice-intolerant, so my actual meal was not incredibly enjoyable. love the soy milk and the pandan dessert!! kinda sad they're closing and will be attempting to go back to try something less spicy before then and have the cake one last time“
“Homey, cozy, delicious Cantonese food in large portions for very reasonable prices. My parents began coming here around 1983 and I grew up coming here. On special occasions, we get the lobster lo mein or Peking duck. Also love the chicken wonton soup (and hung tao yee foo fried wonton soup), salt and pepper pork chops, fried chicken, Peking duck, and 3 shredded meats fried rice noodle which you can’t find in many places!Friendly family-like service. Good for takeout or dine-in—you can watch warriors and giants games here!“
“So freaking delicious!!! I barely eat Chinese food but this HIT THE SPOT. Yo, EVERYTHING was savory and delicious. Service was great! Food came out pretty quickly. 10/10 recommend! The prices were amazing and definitely makes me want to come back.“
“I ordered chili oil wonton and dandanmian for our dinner.Trust me! The food is AMAZING! I strongly suggest this restaurant. The sichuan pepper and chili oil are so perfect similar with the dish i had in China from 2008-2019.I also suggest the restaurant to come up with DANDANMIAN with chili oil wonton coz the chili oil in the wonton and dandanmian blends perfectly. It is what I did. I took some dandanmian and place it in the chili oil of wonton.Location:The location is okay for me. We chose this place because of its food not the ambiance. My rule of thumb when it comes to food is that: if an ambiance or place is great, the food is not good. If food is extremely great, the place is okay. Plus, the type of place restaurant has is the best restaurant to have great food in China.“
“I've been in DT Oakland for the past decade or so for a conference every year, and my friend recommended this spot. I'm glad to finally check this out. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking, usually metered parking. Seating: Great for groups. Room for about 70 people with good groups for 5 or more. Vibes: Welcome to Downtown Oakland. You're close to a lot of other good eatery spots, historical monuments, and other pleasant sightseeing places. The place itself is nothing too flashy. It's a grit and grind area, but they are unapologetically proud of their social recognitions. There's nice pop music in the background. Great place for a food adventure or family/groups. FOOD: Deluxe Combination Chow Mein (Recommend) This is a wonderful medley of beef, bok choy, bean sprouts, onions and chicken with their hand-cut signature noodles. The noodles were truly one of a kind, from their appearance to their soft/chewy texture and nutty flavor. The sauce was reasonably mixed around, which made it pretty savory. Be sure to ask for some hot sauce! CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Ordered for pick up and they were prepared! TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Fantastic! Good food, reasonable prices, and a calming experience. Yes there are lot of food choices here but their noodles really do stand out. I appreciate the delicious food and their hard work. Wishing the best to Charles Hung, family, and team on their business! TIPS: * Too many choices! Bring a friend or two to mix and match * Top 25 noodle places in San Diego!“
“I used to go to Pho 2000 right down the street but after discovering this gem, I’m never going to pho2000 again! The pho is better! The broth is better! The noodles are better! The service and the restaurant all over is a 10 out of 10!! I’m an original Frisco foodie(i grew up here) and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!“
“Glad we caught this place by accident just walking by. Food was superb. Flavourful, delicious beef noodle soup. Also had chicken teriyaki, some dim sum options and spring rolls. Everything was fantastic.Service was attentive, as we were the only ones there. Prices were very reasonable for the area.“
“Nature is a wonderful vegetarian/vegan restaurant in downtown Oakland California. We have been a fan for several years. After closing indoor dining during pandemic, they are back open for indoor dining. They have always had the carry out option. We visited yesterday and had a great dining experience. We had ordered hot and sour soup, sesame chicken, spicy eggplant, chicken chow mein and spicy Thai fried rice in a clay pot. All dishes were excellent. The standouts were the sesame chicken and the soup. A friendly staff and a welcoming ambiance. Glad they are open again for indoor dining as we will be back more often in person than carrying out.“
“Slightly elevated Chinese dining experience in tastefully decorated space that balances well between subdued elegance and playful kitsch.Spicy Mala Chow Fun, tasty, but noticeably lacking in Sichuan peppercorn. The level of numbingness was underwhelming to say the least.Price point on the high side, but portions large enough to share.“
“This can easily be one of my favorite HK cafes. Expansive menu - offers literally everything you'd want to see in a HK Cafe menu: french toast, hot dog macaroni for the kids, baked pork chop rice, porridge, curry fishballs, wonton noodle soup, beef stew, the list goes on and best of all, the best HK milk tea that warms me up.It gets busy, but somehow, the amazing staff manages to keep the customers coming and going, food comes out quick and they don't rush you.“
“5 Spiced Kitchen is conveniently located in Montclair and the food is delicious! Our party of six enjoyed our shared entrees which included seafood, beef, potstickers and veggie spring rolls. 5SK has a full bar as well. Prices were a bit high- I'd say $$$ on a scale of 1-4. However, we will go back and enjoy again!“
“Wanted to leave positive feedback for Steven. Top notch customer service despite being the entire front of the house on his own. It’s obvious the guy loves his job and also knows precisely what he’s doing. Respect for hustle and also for going beyond the call of duty for many of the tables you were responsible for. Cheers!“
“We’ve driven by beyond cafe many times and finally came to try it. There aren’t many HK cart noodle spots in the city so we were eager to stop by for a taste. We ordered the braised beef brisket noodles and cart noodles (4 options). Most importantly, soup base was piping hot! We will be back!“
“Mama Ji's is really good, but I feel that they have slipped a bit since their heyday (i.e., pre-Covid). I like the shrimp dumplings and steamed buns, but after eating the same items at dim sum places in the Richmond I can tell that the ones at Mama Ji's don't have quite the same freshness or depth of flavor. Nonetheless, it's a nice option for lunch in the neighborhood. I hope they bring back the turnip cakes!“
“Came by on Tuesday night and it was a slow night, with lots of tables still open. Everything is pretty straightforward. You can add beef or lamb in your order at the counter (not available at the self serve area). I aimed for a medium plate of food and accidentally got myself a large plate by the time I got to the end of the self serve table. I just kept piling on item after item, oops! I did end up with leftovers, which I packed and happily finished for lunch the next day. I like heat, but the lowest level of heat for the stir fry was just about enough for me. Anymore heat and I don't think I could enjoy the food. I'd love there to be a level or two below this lol. I was expecting a mild, tinge of spice, but this felt like a full on medium. I liked my plate, but my stomach didn't like me afterward. Their strawberry tanghulu was good! Wanted to try a tomato version but the one left in the box didn't look really fresh. Looking forward to coming back to try more!“
“I've been coming here for many years. I'm glad they are still around. They remember who you are, and it feels like a family atmosphere. Parking can be tough. But, with patience. You eventually will find one, and the food is worth it and dine in and start off with some hot tea and any of their entree. Highly recommend.“
“Parking: There's a parking garage (best on in Chinatown and downtown) only a few steps away from the restaurant. The garage is on Kearny & Clay ( 733 Kearny St, SF CA 94108 ) and the rates aren't too bad.COST:Free 15 mins, 1hr - $4, and add $4/hr for any additional hours. $40ish for a day rate that kicks in after 12 hrs.“
“It's clean and bright, the service is warm, and there are many food choices. There are Chinese and English menus. They are very delicious, the portions are large, and the prices are affordable. If two people order five dishes and can't finish them, they have to take them away. We did not choose starch for the main meal. We recommend that if you are used to ordering staple food, just two to three dishes for two people to avoid being unable to finish the meal.recommend!“
“Vien Huong is a well-known restaurant that I've been going to since I was a little kid. They're most known for their noodle soups, particularly the Chow Jew Noodle Soups which have a combo of chicken, pork, and shrimp products. Some people like to order with soup on the side and eat their noodles dry with their sauces.I also really like their Beef Stew Noodle Soup which is very flavorful and their beef and beef tendon is very tender.Last but not least are their fried fish cakes. This place is family-owned and cash only.“
“Overall great price for quality. Should order online to avoid the long wait (20+ minutes for a to go place is too long)- pork and shrimp shumai was really good- ham sui gok was ok. It was a bit soft, not keeping the crunchy texture- mango pudding was ok, not too sweet but a bit more chewy than I like“
“I went here last night with my partner and my daughter and I’m so glad we did because it was awesome! Honestly the best Chinese food we’ve have since moving to the area 3 years ago. Everything is super fresh. My daughter ordered vegetable fried rice and there were actually hearty and fresh veggies in it! Im a vegetarian and ordered the “imitation” sweet and sour chicken. Normally im not big on fake meats but I’m so glad I got this because it was absolutely delicious. My very meat loving partner even liked it. The staff is extremely welcoming and very efficient. We will absolutely be back here and highly Recommend you try it!“
