“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Akai Asian: A Must-Try 5-Star Experience!
[Disclaimer: This review is brought to you by a self-made professional food critic reviewer!]
From the moment I stepped into Akai Asian, I knew I was in for a treat. The warm, inviting ambiance and the sight of happy, cordial diners immediately set a fantastic mood. I felt genuinely welcomed by the staff, who guided me through their extensive menu—and wow, was I blown away by the selection!
For my first visit, I ordered the Chicken Bento Box, and it was easily a 5-star dish. It was a well-balanced masterpiece!
The box featured a delightful salad with corn, which was perfectly topped with a nice sesame seed oil dressing—it was incredibly savory and very tasty. It also included four delicious California rolls. Alongside these were some fried veggies and fried shrimp. They were very pleasant; not overwhelmingly greasy or heavy, but perfectly fried right to the bite. Lastly, the star was the delicious chicken served on top of fresh veggies and rice. Everything was perfectly prepared, showcasing the high quality and fresh flavors of Asian cuisine.
Akai Asian is a delightful setting with stellar service and truly exceptional food. I highly recommend it!“

“The signature dish is the crab in sauce, which comes in medium and large sizes. medium is two crabs with two bowls of rice, and large is three crabs. Compared with other Korean restaurants, the sauce crab taste is mild, and it will not be salty enough to explode in the middle of the meal and cannot continue to eat. The crab is fresh, not fishy, and the meat is firm, not squishy. The crab meat is also very full, the crab legs are full, there is no empty shell crab. The sea urchin rice is a little smaller but the sea urchin is enough. regular sea urchins are not particularly sweet, but they are fresh and worth the price. The sea urchin Rice bowl combo will be served with steamed eggs, runny eggs and two prawns in sauce. Raw marinated salmon rice is amazing to me. The salmon is marinated just enough to be flavorful, but not overly salty. The portions are generous. You can eat two bites of each piece of salmon.“

“One of the most iconic spots in Koreatown!
The soup arrives with customizable add-ins like green onions, red pepper paste, and minced garlic, letting you tweak the savory depth to perfection. Sides of banchan (kimchi, pickled radish) keep the table lively and flavorful.“

“If you’re chasing premium Korean BBQ in the heart of K-Town, this spot is one of the more elevated experiences in the neighborhood. 🇰🇷🔥 Jeong Yuk Jeom translates to “butcher shop” — and that’s exactly the vibe you get: hand-selected, dry-aged and wet-aged beef cuts cooked over charcoal that deliver rich flavor and juiciness worth savoring.
The restaurant’s interior is sleek and spacious, perfect for groups or date nights, with good ventilation so you don’t walk out smelling like a grill.
Upscale, flavorful, and memorable Korean BBQ in LA.
Would go again? Absolutely — especially for the dry-aged beef and unique dishes you don’t find everywhere. 🍷🥩“

“Ordered the seafood and leek pancake with the assorted mild tofu soup combo and mild wasn't really spicy which is great since I cannot handle too much spice. My friend got the cold noodle jjol myun and it was quite spicy. The banchan (side dishes) were delicious and we asked for refills!“

“Amazing food. Plate licking sauces, organic, locally sourced food. Korean fusion. Did I mention organic pickled everything. Enzyme rich food. Beyond healthy. Humble little hope in the wall run by a husband and wife team. Dude went to Korea to study with the most famous vegan nun chef in Korea. A must go to for anyone who loves food and especially loves fusion with organic and very well priced. He should charge Much more but they don’t.“

“The best AYCE Korean bbq restaurant. Meat quality is top-notch. They grill the meat for you but still allow you to enjoy the food at your own speed. I tried almost every meat and my favorite is the marinated beef rib with bone. It melted in my mouth. I love it and will come back.👍🏻“

“Hanu K-BBQ was a highly rated place in LA's Koreatown, so we decided to try it. Clearly review inflation. 4.7 on Yelp and Google. Big focus on getting 5 star yelp reviews. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and its own parking lot.
3.5% credit card fee. Their menu has the typical expensive a la carte meats, but lacks tofu stew.
Lunch Specials 11am-3pm/7days are a great bet.
Meal was fine but not super. Service was drop and go. Probably should have went back to Soowon Galbi or Parks BBQ.
Safety Pluses - Online menu, Delivery services available, online ordering.
Food Review:
Marinated Beef Short Ribs + Buckwheat cold noodle soup ($34.99) lunch special was cooked at our table and consisted of 3 pieces. No BBQ smell at least. Decent quality and reasonable quantity. Huge bowl of cold noodles. Only 4 types of banchan. 8.5/10
Beef brisket soybean paste stew with tofu ($14.99) lunch special is not a big dish and was the closest thing to tofu spicy stew. Very spicy. 8/10
Overall - Good
Food - Good
Decor - Good
Service - Fair
Value - Good
Would we come back - No“

“Excellent banchan. I refilled four times. Best kimchi I've ever had. Galbi is superb. Bulgogin is excellent. Angus short rib is superb. Spicy pork is OK. Chicken is surprisingly very good. $140 combo will for sure feed four. They say it's for two but you have to be truly oinkers to eat that much meat. And I am far from vegetarian.“

“Hands down one of my favorite Korean restaurants for years. The food just tastes amazing. Well known amongst Koreans for a reason. I always get the bulgogi and dongchimi noodles. The dongchimi noodles are a must when coming here, it’s what it’s best known for. Paired with their bulgogi, the experience just gets better. I’m not one who likes sweet, soy based marinated meats, but this place does it so well. Their marinade is not too strong or sweet, the meat is soft. Dip it into their nutty and savory sesame oil? Game over. The combination is just amazing. Please try these two together! Highly recommend. Yes, the bulgogi is a bit pricey, but it hits and the meat is so soft.“

“KOREAN COUNTRY DINER
Loved this new find in K-Town that serves great Korean Home Food. Reminds me of the countryside restaurants with “mom food”. Everything was good. Special shout out to their Yukgejang, one of my faves. The White Bean Noodle Soup was ground fresh. The Cutlass Fish. The bottomless Ban Chan and Kkak Doi Gee is good!!! Can’t recommend this place enough and can’t wait to try more of their dishes.“

“The food and service were amazing. The meats and options they have here are very unique and delicious, up to 32 different options. The person who gave us our meat was nice and caring. As some side notes, if this is your first time going to Korean BBQ place, you cook your own food so make sure you know how to cook meats, also the music they played here is pretty good!“

“I’ve heard about this place before and all the lore that came with it being one of K-towns gems. I had to come and try it out for myself, what I can say is that truly and honestly it’s one of my favorite spots to eat at. You don’t come here for the frills or the fancy seating you come here to eat good home cooked food. I ordered the combo mudfish and soup meal and boy was I in for a treat the fish was perfectly cooked and all the banchan was perfectly prepared. The Kimchi brewed in house daily and the soup to perfection.
I will for sure be coming back soon!“

“We ate inside at the counter and tried a little bit of a few things off the menu. The sweet & spicy fried chicken and fried chicken dumplings were delicious. 😋🍴 We also tried the bulgogi and spicy chicken bowl and both were so delicious. As a side note, the man that waited on us (not sure if it was the owner or not) was very nice and hospitable. ☺️“

“Attended this restaurant for a late lunch. I enjoyed my time dining, very clean, they play Korean music. Definitely a place to bring friends or family to share food portions, I feel as if the price is justified due to the portion. Food + Drink about $40 per person. Soju berry highball is the perfect sweetness. Will come back to show my family this place 😄I really liked the kimchi! Below attached photo of bulgogi hot dish, as you may observe it's served in a traditional stone pot.

“This place is the coolest, yummiest hidden gem 💎 in ktown!! My waiter was fast and attentive. My favorites were the Rigatoni, honey butter chips, tuna dip was fire and the soju selection blew my mind because I’ve only ever had the flavored green bottle.
The fried chicken was very tasty too! Next time I need to try the beer and other menu items. I found metered parking nearby but there is valet service in the back!“

“A clearly family run delicious soup restaurant that have been several times. The seollungtang rivals that of hanbat without having to go all the way to korea town and they serve other things which i always wanted from hanbat. Their bossam is great with raw nappa which i love and the haegaengguk which also has saved me post a hard night. Highly underrated korea restaurant“

“It’s funny to me when people complain about things like not being allowed to split portions for one person, not being able to take food home, sushi being ‘too big,’ or even time limits lol. I think the sense of entitlement is real among some of us. I genuinely love the food, the variety, and the soju—this is honestly one of the best places to enjoy Korean BBQ.
Maybe some people are just used to getting free passes and special treatment elsewhere, but here everyone is treated equally. That’s all it really is.“

“Absolutely phenomenal duck KBBQ. Never had duck for KBBQ and it was decadent. All of the ducks cooks and smothered in duck fat and in the garlic. At the end they made fried rice with banchan and duck fat. It was heavenly. It was perfect for a large group of 10 with their semi-private dining in the back. A must try.“

“It was late in the evening (past midnight) and we waited for over 45 minutes for our food, but the order came out wrong. The older lady with short curly hair was very rude and disrespectful. The only reason I am giving it a 5 star 🌟 is because of Jerome. He was very sincere, apologized and made it right.“

“I've been going to Maria'a since I was a kid. My parents, when they arrived to the US from Mexico would go there and so did my aunts and uncles and cousins. Now I take my kids to eat there. The restaurant has always been the same with great quality food and great service. Maria's restaurant is a gem in the community and will hopefully be there for many more generations. Don't sleep on this place, give it a try.“
