“My wife and I went to the Black Angel for a late lunch about 4 pm today. We split a beef brisket sandwich with each us having a bowl of chicken tortilla soup. The soup was lukewarm and had to be reheated which was promptly and courteously done, as was all service rendered. This was our only complaint. Everything was excellent. Best Chicken Tortilla soup (not too spicy) ever had, The sandwich was great too. Yum!”

The waiter heard me tell my friend why I was ordering the soup and checked to make sure I would be able to eat both the sandwich and the soup. He went above and beyond to cater to my needs. Our lunch was good and his entire demeanor and attitude were very pleasant. Worth stopping here since we were only in town for a doctor's visit at the hospital.”

“Made reservations for my birthday. We had the bruschetta caprese as a starter. It was very fresh, tomatoes had tons of flavor. We ate every last shred of basil off the plate. My husband ordered the lobster which had amazing flavor and didn’t have the standard “seafood” taste I dread. I had the rissono which wasn’t at all greasy, or spicy. Decent portions and quality food. Servers are very well informed. I had two limontini’s which were delicious. Bar can get a bit behind in a rush. We finished with dessert, cheesecake with berries which was fine but not my favorite cheesecake. We will be back and sure to recommend!”

“SO happy to see that Saigon’s Corner is now on Chomp! (Maybe this isn’t new, but I don’t remember seeing them there before). We got a ton of food for a very reasonable price, it was very well packaged (pho broth separate from noodles, veg, protein, etc), arrived in a very reasonable time (even on a Saturday night) and it was all fresh and really delicious. We easily have enough for lunch for both of us tomorrow as well. We will definitely be ordering again, and can’t wait!!”

“Sidekick Coffee and Books is one of my favorite places in the world. I have been coming since they opened, and as time goes on, it just gets better and better. The coffee is the BEST. My favorite drinks are the iced Winnie the Pooh latte and the smoked salt maple latte. The food is also delicious, my favorites being the quiche and the cinnamon rolls. The staff is so kind and helpful. The atmosphere in Sidekick is extremely cozy. They have a great selection of books, toys, games, puzzles, and other gift items. It's a great place to find a perfect gift, and they wrap for free! The events are another one of my favorite things about Sidekick. They have several book clubs, author events, storytimes, trivia and more. My kids (ages 8 and 3) also love Sidekick. It's a fantastic place to bring your kids. They have ice cream, a train table, and fun cubbies to read in! I also highly recommend the summer camps. My daughter did 2 last year, and will be doing them again this summer! Katy and the staff and her staff make Sidekick a place you will want to come back to again and again.”

So we formed ourselves into tight groups…the idea was, the shark comes to the nearest man and he starts poundin’ and hollerin’ and screamin’. Sometimes the shark go away. Sometimes he wouldn’t go away. Sometimes that shark, he looks right into ya, right into your eyes. Y’know, the thing about a shark, he’s got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll’s eyes. When he comes after ya, he doesn’t seem to be livin’ until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white, and then – aww, then you hear that terrible high-pitch screamin’, the ocean turns red, and in spite of all the poundin’ and the hollerin’, they all come in and rip ya to pieces…in that first dawn, we lost a hundred men. I don’t know how many sharks, maybe a thousand. I don’t know how many men. They averaged six an hour…Noon the fifth day, Mr. Hooper, a Lockheed Ventura saw us. He swung in low and he saw us…and he come in low and three hours later, a big fat PBY [seaplane] comes down and start to pick us up. You know, that was the time I was most frightened – waitin’ for my turn. I’ll never put on a life jacket again. So, eleven hundred men went in the water, three hundred and sixteen men come out, and the sharks took the rest, June the 29th, 1945. Anyway, we delivered the bomb”

Mismatched furniture with couches, side tables, different types of chairs and several seating areas. A casual, laid back atmosphere.”

“On Wednesday afternoon, 03/04/2026, some guy tried to drive through Scooter’s in a big pickup truck, pulling a U-Haul trailer. Of course, it was obvious to everyone but him that this was NOT a good idea. Scooter’s traffic was backed up. Two employees did a FABULOUS job of taking care of customers as the driver of the pickup and his passenger unhooked the U-Haul and got out of the way. Those girls!!!!! One was outside taking orders, running inside and getting them from the barista. Then they delivered them to each customer. The customers had to back out of the driveway since they couldn’t get out the drive-through. It was a sight to see! Kudos to those girls for successfully taking on a challenge that was totally unavoidable and out of their control.”

Atmosphere is low simply because it is a grocery store...though they do have a small area to sit and eat, we always grab take-out. Food is a limited selection of any one type of food (some Pizza, few main dishes of chinese, some side sushi...) but there is enough selection not to get too boring. If you want something quick an better than fast food this is a good place to go.”

“I have seen this coffee shop evolve from Capanna, to Coffee Emporium, and now Midnight Coffee. I spent a lot of time there while it was Capanna and loved it but I have to say, the changes they have made since it has become Midnight Coffee is my absolute favorite. From the great coffee, to the partnering with local pastry shops, to the new interior design, and the new Merch…..the VIBE is immaculate as people younger than me would say. Highly recommended making Midnight Coffee your new coffee spot in North Liberty and the Corridor region. They have other locations in Iowa city and tiffin as well I believe.”

“Something that I appreciate about Starbucks is the consistency. This cafe is another example of making consistently good drinks. Of course not out of this world but good and familiar. I stay far away during the semester because it just so busy but during the summer this place is great and the outdoor seating is so nice. The tables are sturdy and the chairs are actually comfortable not just some rinky dink metal ones, they have a great backrest. Although I try to always support local stores seating like this outside is hard to come by for a cafe and I appreciate Starbuck's later hours.”

“In town for a wedding, stopped to try as we never been. Solid place to eat. Staff was great, helpful and kept the place clean. Food was solid, chicken was juicy, good cheese on the pizza bread was solid.

“Went for the Tuesday night which they host a variety of specials. They offer a variety of cocktails for $3 and $4!!! With a huge variety of basic sushi rolls at $4 and specialty rolls at $9. We ate at the bar and service was amazing. They only had one bar tender and it was a pretty busy night. She did amazing job and kept our drinks full, and guided me through some of the local favorites. Will definitely go back ❤️”
