“SBK is everything… the pastries and cookies are so delicious, always a decadent treat. The savory sandwiches, so flavorful with house made sauces in the mix. Weekends start off right with an SBK pizza on a Friday night. I’ve been coming here for years. During Covid, SBK became my local grocery store. One of my favorite establishments in Chicago, I will always be a fan.“

“Shoutout to the Rittenhouse location. We are at Chop with our 4 year old son who just had surgery. I figured after the day we had let’s have some cookies. I placed an order from Levain on door dash. My wife after the long day she had put in the wrong address on the door dash order and the driver called screaming at me and wouldn’t come 1.3 miles to bring them even after explaining the circumstances. Door dash refunded my whole order without me even asking and I called Levain and they went above and beyond. They gave us cookies on the house and even threw in an extra chocolate chip and delivered them to CHOP. Not only are the cookies fabulous the hospitality is second to none. I am a lifelong customer to this location and want to thank everyone at the Rittenhouse location especially Mat who went above and beyond. Thanks again!“

“The cakes are INCREDIBLE! We ordered a chocolate pistachio cake in June, and it was the best chocolate cake of any kind I've ever had. I had family in town for a special occasion, so I got a red velvet cake this time. My family is not easily impressed, and none of us are vegan. But I KNEW if the red velvet was half as good as that chocolate pistachio cake, it would be a hit. Everyone loved it! I had to pack folks extra pieces to take with them.

The cakes are so flavorful, moist, and dense in an excellent way without losing out on a good texture and crumb. There is no flavor I wouldn't trust this bakery with. Pie, Pie My Darling is amazing. It's been a godsend this year, as I've had to avoid dairy. I plan to continue ordering from them after I can have dairy again.

“OMG WOW! Amazing bakery! I go to tons of bakeries & I think this is the best one in Oak Park & one of the best in Chicagoland! I LOVED everything I tried from the cookies, to muffins to scones. Super high quality & extremely fresh products. Some of the pastries were still warm from the oven as I got there right at 8 am when they open. Even then, there was a little line out the door. Many people got coffee drinks but I didn’t this time. They also have $2 wonky cookies (just weirdly shaped cookies) that are a great deal. I tried: chocolate chip cookie, banana bread, vegan chocolate muffin (extra delish), goat cheese chili scone (excellent) & the wonky birthday cookie (amazing & buttery - melts in your mouth). Can’t wait to go back & try other things! Please note the place is tiny with only a few tables & chairs & there’s metered street parking so I took my order to go.

When I go into the store for my baked goods I always get a welcome with a smile. North Shore Bakery always makes me feel like I am there only customer they have! “So today I had a friend in from out of town and we topped off our afternoon with a visit to Miski Bakery. I was dying to try the alfajores, and they did not disappoint! The very delicate morsels melted in our mouth, and the creamy luscious dollop of dulce de leche caramel was a perfect pairing. In addition we tried the Milhojas/Napoleons in two flavors the Lucuma pastry creme and also the dulce de leche. A thousand layers is correct, these were amazingly tall, crispy and filled with air, both were delicious but the Lucuma(a Peruvian fruit) pastry creme was the standout. It had such a delightful delicate flavor I had never tasted previously. After speaking with Carmen the owner I asked whether or not they ever carried Turrón de doñja Pepa. She just happened to have some freshly baked sitting on the tray behind the counter, but alas it was still awaiting its filling. This gives me a great reason to return and indulge in that special treat. It is prepared every other week. The service was warm and friendly. This is definitely a hidden gem in the neighborhood you shouldn't miss out on. I will be returning often.“

“I recently was looking to have our wedding cake recreated as a surprise for our anniversary. Our wedding cake was specific to Europe/Ireland and seems to be hard to come by in the states. After contacting several bakeries, none were willing to attempt it. I finally got in contact with James. The result blew us away. The cake was not only beautiful, it tasted amazing! James and his team were incredible to work with. I recommend using him if you are ever looking for beautiful and delicious cakes or have specific requests. “I love this bakery! I first came on the Flavors of Albany Park tour and have returned since for wonderful baked goods. The owners are so friendly and generous. I got the peanut cream pastry, red bean cream bun, and a green tea cake. They gave me a corn cake to try as well which was so kind! Everything they make is light, perfectly sweet, and so good.
