“So it is Monday July 14 and we just left Joe’s BBQ and my wife told me that my BBQ is better the Joe’s any-day. Sunday night we went to Q39 and wow what a difference. My wife and I both had the 3 meat and sides of beans,and vegetables. Every single thing we had was great. Chicken(white meat) had good flavor but chicken is chicken. Sausage was full of flavor with the peppers. Ribs were fall off the bone and didn’t need sauce. The pulled pork was really soft and melted in the mouth good. So at this point I have to say if you are in Kansas City for BBQ go to Q39 last because nothing compares the it at least in Kansas City anyway.“

“Food is really good, I've ordered many times from them but my last order included an $8.25 fee for carry out supplies. They charge a percent of the entire bill. No where in the check out process do they tell you this. This seems excessive for 6 utensil packs and 5 takeout containers. Many other BBQ places with similar price points do not charge this fee. If you are going to charge extra fees be up front about it.“

I was greeted immediately but was on my own so opted to sit at the bar. The bartender was very knowledgeable about the menu, the food and the business. I told her I had come in for the rangoon and told her I didn’t want straight Thai or straight BBQ but to pick anything she would recommend. I told her I have a high heat tolerance, no weird food allergies and like just about everything. She chose the red curry burnt ends with steamed rice. The manager joined us and we all had great conversation about the food, food in general and their sister restaurant Muni in the River Market. Food, service, presentation and atmosphere were all fantastic. All of the recommendations were spot on. I look forward to my next opportunity.“

“My parents came from CO to KS to purchase a new car and the guy at the dealership recommended Smoke Town BBQ to them for dinner. They went over and found that it was closed, but Brian was outside and they struck up a conversation. My parents joked that they’d driven all the way from CO for some good BBQ and Brian was kind enough to go inside and bring them out some food to try. Luckily for me, they brought some back to CO to share and even as leftovers the next day, the burnt ends were DELICIOUS!!! What a kind and thoughtful person and business, and delicious food! “Best of the best! Smoked turkey is in point and if you like pastrami you HAVE to get thier smoked pastrami on seeded rye w saurkraut and mustard.....omg! It's the bbq version of a rueban sandwich and let me tell ya...it's a game changer! 1 sandwich is Enough for 2 people...or 2 meals if you don't want to share :) The manager was so kind, he brought our service dog a bowl of water while we ate. The server and bartender were amazing...

Ordered the turkey on a bun w/fries and lemonade. The turkey was good, the fries were fresh out the grease, but they don’t season the fries, you have to salt them yourself. The total was like $20 so a bit pricey. The sauce has a sweet but spicy taste to it.“

“This is EASILY the best barbeque I've ever had. I don't think Gates can make bad food. Every single piece of meat in the box was immaculately seasoned, the pickled onions and pickles were DELICIOUS, abd the bread at the bottom sealed the deal for me. Since it was my first time, the staff helped me tremendously while ordering, and gave us extra sauce for the food. EVERY time I'm in KC, I will be eating here. I've already recommended Gates Bar-B-Q to every single person who goes near Kansas City, and I will not stop until Gates seasonings reach local grocery shelves out here on the east coast.“

“We arrived at LC’s at 820 pm while traveling through on 435 and these portions are huge I had the burnt end beef tips huge portion! My husband had the beef bbq sandwich again huge double decker sandwich. Our daughter had the turkey bbq sandwich. We also had fries coleslaw and fried mushrooms. Needless to say we had a second meal in leftovers. Very friendly staff even while they were busy remained positive and engaged with the customers. First time Kansas City BBQ we are happy we ended up at LC’s!“

“I had the Ribs and One meat, sliced brisket, with the spicy Cole slaw side. The ribs were solid- lots of meat on each, tender, very good flavor without needing to be drowned in sauce. The brisket was good too. Sliced thin with a little sauce, had plenty of flavor. The Cole slaw was above average as well.

I was still a little hungry so I ordered a side of Mac and cheese. Fantastic. Worth going back just for that.

And the staff kept my sweet tea full the whole time. Well worth the trip, and I’ll certainly be back.“
