This place contributes to the waistline of the locals. Some big people are in this fly-over town. The red bbq sauce SUCKS they would hang you in Texas for serving that mess. “Food is really good, I've ordered many times from them but my last order included an $8.25 fee for carry out supplies. They charge a percent of the entire bill. No where in the check out process do they tell you this. This seems excessive for 6 utensil packs and 5 takeout containers. Many other BBQ places with similar price points do not charge this fee. If you are going to charge extra fees be up front about it.“

I have done several bbq tours in Texas and can say this is as good as it gets when it comes to fresh from the pit craft bbq. The smell of burning wood filled the air as we exited the car. We were in line pretty early and talked to some regulars who love coming here. The meats were fantastic. Great bark on the brisket and pulled pork, tons of flavor and moisture. Tried the Greek sausage with feta cheese…yes please! Loved the bacon blue potato salad. Such a unique combination of flavors for a bbq side. Mac n cheese and Elote were both delicious as well. WOW. 2 of us had The Daily Special Texas Sweet (Pulled Pork, Scimecas Italian Sausage, Onion Straws piked high on huge bun. 1 SIDE. I had some green beans son had some of the huge famous beer battered potato wedges. Hot, fresh, tasty for $11.99. Both of us took decent amount home as well. “Great food on this visit. Everything was flavorful waiter was attentive. While my 2 visits to burnt ends were good had a freind who was with me on my visit go back and had diffrent experience food not as good and staff not as helpful in fact they were antagonistic. My point for bringing this up is that experience can be inconsistent here so my positive experience might not reflect yours but I would recommend giving them the benefit of the doubt because when they hit they hit they hit it out of the park.“

“Best of the best! Smoked turkey is in point and if you like pastrami you HAVE to get thier smoked pastrami on seeded rye w saurkraut and mustard.....omg! It's the bbq version of a rueban sandwich and let me tell ya...it's a game changer! 1 sandwich is Enough for 2 people...or 2 meals if you don't want to share :) The manager was so kind, he brought our service dog a bowl of water while we ate. The server and bartender were amazing...

The young lady that took my order over the phone was very friendly and professional she asked our name and what time would we be there for our order. I arrived on time and during my pick-up I notice my order that was given to me was very light, after going inside, I meet the manger on shift Bailey who was very professional in handling the mixup of my order/food and in turn helped make my experience extremely positive and enjoyable! “I cannot always eat the meats most of my family does due to dietary restrictions, but I will tell you. This was the HANDS DOWN most tender, melt in my mouth beef brisket that I have had in years. Even the chicken was moist! The server we had was personable and handled the whole knack half the restaurant well even when it got slammed. We were in to visit our son from Rochester NY, and I can honestly say that nothing we have had there since moving there in 2017, is even comparable.“

“Was in town visiting and I heard good things about Gates back in Chicago, so I had to try them out. Stoped in before heading to the Saints vs Chiefs game. Ordered the turkey on a bun w/fries and lemonade. The turkey was good, the fries were fresh out the grease, but they don’t season the fries, you have to salt them yourself. The total was like $20 so a bit pricey. The sauce has a sweet but spicy taste to it.“

“This is EASILY the best barbeque I've ever had. I don't think Gates can make bad food. Every single piece of meat in the box was immaculately seasoned, the pickled onions and pickles were DELICIOUS, abd the bread at the bottom sealed the deal for me. Since it was my first time, the staff helped me tremendously while ordering, and gave us extra sauce for the food. EVERY time I'm in KC, I will be eating here. I've already recommended Gates Bar-B-Q to every single person who goes near Kansas City, and I will not stop until Gates seasonings reach local grocery shelves out here on the east coast.“

“Better late than never! I came in town for the weekend and we ordered this to go. Our order that was placed but wasn't pushed through the Doordash app prior to them cleaning up. The manager and their staff took extra time to help us get what we ordered, boxed it up, and did it with a smile on their face the entire time. TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE! And the meats were cooked to perfection!

“I had a terrible experience trying to use Uber Eats to get food delivered. Totally not Arthur Bryant’s fault. With all of the issues I had on an order that was well over $100, an employee (maybe manager) named Ontario, was the absolute hero of the day! I cannot say enough about how he took care of us despite Uber’s issue with their system. Long story short, our order was for dinner the previous night, but he was able to honor the order the next day for lunch. He treated us like we were royalty. The rest of the staff were friendly and personable. They definitely have the “hole in the wall”/dive vibe, and I am here for it. It’s authentic. Regarding the food. If I’m being honest the brisket was mid, which was disappointing as I love brisket. Maybe an off day. But I digress. The ribs were by far the best ribs I have ever had in my life. Zero exaggeration. The burnt ends were so tender and full of flavor. The sliced sausage was unlike anything I’ve had before. The onion rings were onion rings, not much more to say about them. Definitely solid. The cheesy corn was divine. What a great addition to a great meal. If I were to go back next time I’m in KC, I’m getting Cheesy corn, ribs, and ends. They get all the stars I have to give and Ontario should get all of the raises and promotions available.“

Whenever I want BBQ, it is always Gates. You are always greeted right when you walk in the door with, "HI! May I help you?" The price is right for BBQ this good. If you have never had it, then stop in and get some. You won't be disappointed!“

“Fresh delicious food , the appetizers were amazing 👏 Baba Ganouj, Hummus , Lentil Soup with summak, and Falafel piping hot and crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. The mixed grill took a while (so order early) but I know nothing was reheated. Everything cooked there and then. The chicken was juicy , flavorful snd succulent . The lamb chops finger the licking good. the beef sheesh kebab soft and juicy and not dry so the fat meat content was on spot. The only negative perhaps was the sheesh kebab was a bit salty 🧂 for my palate.“
