“This place was both FUN and DELICIOUS. It almost feels like you're walking into a speakeasy, and the staff greet you like you're about to party with them all night (and you truly do). I didn't know what to expect going in, but you really are partying while enjoying fine dining- a rare combo! They have unlimited sake shots, and I truly mean unlimited. As soon as one chef noticed my cup was empty he was ready to pour me another. The staff were dancing, singing, and making delicious food all at once. If you're not a sake fan, don't worry- they give you water and still make you feel like you're a part of the party. Would return again for occasions like a girls night out or a fun birthday dinner!“

“We started off with some tasty cocktails: A Japanese twist on a margarita and an amazing whiskey-based pink one (the name escapes me but it was truly unique and delicious. We had their rendition of a Caeser salad, which was enormous. The deep fried burrata was also quite big… and truly unique and scrumptious. I could have drank the cheesy broth all night. The fried hen was nice. The black cod was as well. The sticky pudding with lime ice cream dessert was massive, but the two of us managed. Also - get the potatoes…. A great compliment to everything.“

“I LOVE Ishi so much... This was my favorite omakase experience in NYC! Brought my parents here for their anniversary and their first ever Omakase. The ambiance is lovely. The interior is warm, inviting and intimate. Staff is very welcoming. The food is AMAZING and high quality. Every single piece was delicious and we were so impressed. I will definitely be back. There are so many great omakase places in NYC but this was the first that made me want to revisit even without a special occasion to celebrate.Thank you to the team at Ishi for such a wonderful experience!“

“The ambiance is stylish and comfortable, and the dishes are exquisite? We chose the ?$100 pp Omakase for 2 and also ordered a few appetizers and nigiri a la carte. The appetizers include a steamed egg—soft and smooth, with the sauce flavor just right—you can order it with added Uni.Since every ingredient was so fresh and sweet, we couldn't resist ordering more scallop, uni, and wagyu nigiri to satisfy our cravings~The cocktails were fruity and very professionally made?. The dessert's cheesecake has sesame flavor?Check this place out‼️“

“I took my wife on a date night yesterday. We like fine food and have had some amazing experiences around the world .several Michelin restaurants. First of all our waiter Julio took us on a journey through his description of the food and Sake . Julio paired every meal like painter does color . His direction was outstanding and the food followed with such complexity and fun . We will be back again and again and again . Ask for Julio he paints before the pigments hits the canvas . “Came here for a surprise birthday lunch. Menu: Shrimp head Shrimp Mushroom Fish with the bones (?) Snow Crab with Shiso Leaf Brussel Sprout with Seaweed(?) Scallop Snow pea & Baby Onion Flying fish Lotus Anago Tendon with miso Wasn't incredibly oily at the end of everything, I had a beer to go with my meal as a palette cleanser. Service was great, showed great attention to customers. Chefs were attentive, and notice when you want a good video shot at the whole frying process and try not to ruin your video. As a small extra birthday surprise, added a nice large strawberry with a mochi ice cream. Great experience, would love to try again someday.“

“I think this place is great. Especially for a date night too. The Temaki they serve is great for a 2 bite situation, making it really easy to share between 2… if that’s your thing. To be honest, coming here and getting the classic & signature is just as $ as getting delivery sushi, maybe a bit more expensive but it’s worth it. High quality ingredients & thought out flavors.Personal favorite temaki is the XO scallop. The whole entire restaurant is gluten free by the way, so that might win a lot of people over. The interior & vibe is definitely for a certain demographic and will become aged out within maybe a year or two. The interior is on the same note of that Tend instagram dentist place, and that’s not a compliment. The music they play reminds me of what they would play at like a retail store.Dietary restrictions: The entire restaurant is gluten free & can help gluten intolerance with their meal.“
“If you happen to be around Brooklyn and have about an half hour or an hour to spend, I would definitely recommend this place. It's close to the subway. This is a very eye opening place to visit if you are interested in dashi in general. The store has variety of dashi for you to try (also vegan options) and also allows you to create your own, which is super fun and educational. They have a lot of imported japanese products + meal, which could be a bit pricy; however, consider you dont have to fly to Japan to get them, they are acceptable and worth try at least once. The atmosphere is super nice. Nice lighting/furnitures and everything. The staffs were also super informative and could help you in a lot in making decisions toward unending dashi ingredients.“

“We had a great anniversary. We got the 12 piece + 2 hand roll omakase set for $53. The fish was super fresh and the whole meal was about 45min. There’s about 12-15 seats at the counter, so if you want to guarantee seating book a reservation. It was absolutely worth every “

“Hidden Pearl is a true Brooklyn oasis. With tropical Japanese vibes, records on the turntable, and a top-notch staff, there's not a better date spot in Greenpoint—especially when the sun is still streaming in through the skylight! The cocktails are vibrant and refreshing, packing a flavorful punch I have been craving this summer. Highly recommend!“

“I just cannot get over how good the katsu is. The chicken katsu curry has to be my favorite in the city by far and has been since they opened. It's hard for me to find time to go here, but it's such a genuinely rewarding meal, and i'm happy to sacrifice the place being open daily for the love and time that seems to go into everything there, from the in-house food to the curation of snacks and drinks. The portion is absolutely enormous, bigger than any ive had anywhere here or abroad, and the quality is astonishing. It's just so good.Cool shirts too :)“

“My friends treated me and my wife to dinner here as an engagement present. We all had a wonderful time and thought the food was top notch. On top of the fresh fish and impeccable presentations, I really appreciated that Don was so accommodating to dietary restrictions. Many restaurants serving omakase are unwilling to make changes. I would absolutely come back again and recommend this to anyone.“

“Has such a yummy and pleasant omakase experience in Astoria on a week night, thanks to That Place. The restaurant is so beautifully decorated and clean. The host/server was so attentive and sweet during the entire 1.5hr experience - my water/tea was refilled almost automatically after every sip. Same is also included in the omakase pricing which is really nice for drinkers ! The chefs worked together and created really delicious pieces- every one was super yummy. Their matcha ice cream and cheesecake were also so good ! Overall, was such a great experience and will definitely be back again for a weeknight or weekend dinner.“

“This restaurant exceeded all expectations! A definite must-visit for anyone in NYC craving exceptional food, service, and atmosphere.Starting with the ambiance, stepping through the revolving doors transports you into a world of elegance. The golden bar, stocked with top-shelf selections, catches the eye immediately. To the right, a chic cocktail lounge area adorned with rose gold velvet chairs invokes a nostalgic 70s vibe, complemented by tasteful gold accents. The red room at the back exudes glamour and sophistication with its rich red accents, creating an atmosphere of opulence. Even the bathrooms, with their beautiful and impeccably clean facilities, maintain the luxurious gold theme. Our choice of high top booths near the cocktail lounge allowed us to fully appreciate the architectural beauty and aesthetic charm of the restaurant. The Motown music added to the ambiance, setting the perfect mood for enjoying drinks and good company. Now, onto the customer service - our server Mary was simply outstanding. Her blend of humor, warmth, and reliability elevated our dining experience to another level. She went above and beyond to accommodate our dietary restrictions. Her attention to detail ensured that each member of our group felt catered to and comfortable throughout the dining experience. Celebrating my birthday, Mary's attentive service and infectious smile made the occasion even more memorable for our group of four. And then there's the food... where do I even begin? Each dish was a culinary masterpiece, leaving us wanting more with every bite. The flavors were so exquisite that I was tempted to lick the plate clean, but of course, I had to maintain my composure. I could rave about the entire menu, but some standout items that deserve extra praise include:Wasabi lobster********Lobster tempura roll (hand cut)********Wok lobster****Wagyu skewers*********Edamame*****Lobster dumplings***Spicy shrimp rice*******“

“I was intrigued by the concept of this restaurant and I am so glad I tried it out. They hit it out the park with home run flavors and tastes. It’s a tiny little place in Williamsburg that’s worth visiting. Every dish was delicious. Their Spring Jew Egg, the Okonomiyaki, Grilled Caesar Salad and the Sake Kasu Challah were amazing starters that we shared. The Matzoh Ball Ramen was flavorful and perfect with their soy marinated egg. Yummy!! For dessert we had their banana bread pudding and their Japanese Sweet Potato Cheesecake. Just so good!!! Staff was amazingly good!! I highly recommend Shalom Japan!!“

“I'm a picky eater and was very nervous about eating at U Omakase. I was truly satisfied with everything. I believe that every course was better than the one before it. The staff was great! They gave every detail about each dish and answered all of our questions. I highly recommend it. For those nervous, "picky eaters" out there, just go and take in all the flavors and enjoy. Thank you to U Omakase for such a fun night.“

“This place does not need more reviews but I feel the need to add another to show my support because I think Sushi Lin is the best sushi in Brooklyn. They're constantly improving their selections and the experience and they probably source from the same purveyors as all the top notch sushi restaurants in the city because the quality of the fish here is unparalleled. The first time I had sushi made by Lenny was when he was a sushi chef at Blue Ribbon. It's been more than 10 years since I've been dining with him, and there are several things that have been constant: the amount of care he puts into his food, how hospitable he is, his humility, and that he will always give his customers the best quality and value for what they are paying for.“

“My favorite ramen joint in New York! Go here on a jazz night if you can, because the ambience with the artists is even more incredible. This is my 3rd time here, and while everything is great, I’d specifically recommend: spicy ramen, spicy tsukemen, oysters mp, and mango kakigori. Between the freshly made noodles and flavorful broths, all of the noodle dishes are the perfect cozy meal. I was pleasantly surprised by the oysters, which came with a yuzu mint vinaigrette that added a bright vibrancy to each oyster. Don’t shy away from getting dessert the end! The shaved ice is a great way to end on a refreshing note without feeling bogged down by sugar. Note that this place fills up quick, so reserve in advance or come early to beat the wait. “Sushi chef was heavy on the fish. Staff were adorably kind. Place is small and neat. Most decent sushi place in the entire neighborhood.I got the salmon dinner and an uni sushi. It comes with a side of either miso soup or salad. I could not finish it and had a cute little to go box for my leftovers.Price is a bit steep since I chose a moderately expensive dish plus the uni which was market price. There are more affordable options on their menu.“
“The most fun and engaging Omakase you'll ever experience. Talk about fun, raunchy and in your face . One hour experience without having to worry about behavior, matter of fact, the staff wants you to be loud and let loose. I've been to many Omakse around the $100 range but nowhere is this much fun. If you haven't experienced Sushi On Me then shame on you. I applaud the staff there for coming up with a party Omakase concept and I can't wait to be back. In closing, forget your mild mannered Omakase and just let it loose here or at their Brooklyn location.“

“Our experience at NR, was mostly positive. The Japanese fried chicken appetizer left us underwhelmed, lacking that special touch. However, the chicken soup curry stole the show with its amazing taste and generous portion size, making it a preferable choice over the ramen.Speaking of ramen, while it wasn't bad, it didn't quite justify making a special trip here for it. There are other spots in the city that excel in ramen. On the bright side, the service was excellent, and the ambiance had a charming speakeasy vibe, evoking the essence of old NYC.Overall, NR is a great spot to visit with a date or friends, offering a delightful experience with standout dishes like the chicken soup curry. However, if you're solely craving ramen, you might find better options elsewhere in the city.“

“Delicious onigiri. We came after it closed, but there were many flavors available for takeaway sitting on the counter. “Great lil Izakaya! The staff are extremely friendly and hospitalable, the food is delicious, the portion sizes are very generous, and a combination can be made if asked in advance.Definitely get the cheese corn and put some sweet soy sauce on it... And ask for the sweet and spicy sauce on the side, it makes any dish 50 times better lol. There's two other locations in New York, apparently one is in Manhattan, I'm not a local so I can't remember where the other location is... Either way I'm coming back to the Flushing location as I just really love the atmosphere, the location, and the staff...If you see the owner, tell them that the Black nerdy girl from Mississauga recommended the place and said to say hi ?“

“I love omakase. I love not having to decide what to eat. This place has multiple locations apparently and opened up near the end of last year. It looked good and I'd been wanting to try it for a while. I'm glad I got the chance. It's a small-ish place. You can either sit at the bar or a table. We sat at the bar and these 2 girls next to us were super loud the whole time. I got the green tea sake, which actually taste like straight green tea and I loved it. I don't remember the name of it. The rest of the courses were pretty standard: uni, sea bream, tuna, wagyu beef, and there was a wagyu beef nigiri but I forgot to take a picture of it. The night ended with this adorable looking dessert which was wafer cookie with ice cream in it. Really nice restaurant, very nice service, not too pricey, and their sake list is pretty extensive. I would go back just for that green tea one.“

“An absolutely wonderful dining experience. The ambiance was nice - minimalist Japanese decor, wood tones, and music that you didn't have to scream over. The food was excellent and not too pricey. “Good omakase place. Shari preparation is above average, good amount of rice, good temp, good tightness and vinegar combinations. Very few choices of hikarimono here, and Aji was just ok. Since I am a pure edomae enthusiast, an offering of Wagyu sushi (an extra price, of course i did not order bz it is not a pure edomae tradition) was disappointment to me since smoke smelling of wagyu beef spread all over the sushi bar. Services were excellent and a very nice, spacious atmosphere inside. I may try this place again for the second time. Overall reasonable to good omakase sushi.“

“Giving it a 4 stars because the effort and intent was there, but the Miso ramen was unfortunately too rich for my tastes and I couldn't finish the broth, although the wavy noodles were perfect, very Q. “The best bang for buck omakase. It’s difficult to find a good value omakase. It’s either unnecessarily expensive or suffers in quality. “I'm a huge fan of Greenpoint and specific to this section of the the hugely popular area with up and coming dining and events. House is located in the back of a dashi store which has all kinds of Japanese bowls, textiles for sale. The experience was nice, the seating felt you were in a very intimate environment, seats facing the chef and kitchen at all times. The service was top notch and what I expected for a 2 course menu north of $400. The food, we had the 2 course menu, a sake flight, a sake flight B, a Kirinzan glass, a Nanbu glass and a Hakkaisan glass. The dishes had an amazing presentation and were tasty but honestly the flavors did not move me. Perhaps it might be a style where the flavors are really flat and balanced which I can understand but I was not overly impressed or blown away by any 1 dish. All in all, great service and great experience which still is within what I feel a 4 star rating.“

“The 4.8 rating after 185 reviews made me question this restaurant. How could they have that high of a rating with such a large sample size. After going there I’m on the hunt to find those individuals that made this score not a perfect 5. Service was exceptional (especially when considering the normal pricing). Sushi quality was the best I’ve ever had in every food I ate (miso soup wasn’t too salty). Complimentary miso and a roll from the chef. There is not a single thing I could complain about and I look forward to giving this establishment as much business as possible.“
