“This is my favourite place! I always order P10 - Vegan Pho and the vegan crispy spring rolls. The food is always delicious. The staff are friendly. I order from Uber eats often as well and it's the same quality, lots of veggies/tofu and noodles.“

“I love Pho Metro! The food is absolutely delicious every time and the service is quick and friendly. Everything is fresh and portion sizes are extremely generous and filling. My wife is addicted to their tea, it smells exactly like brown sugar boba. If you're in Thornhill, we can't recommend this place enough.“

Meaning alleyway in Vietnamese, a Hem is where you'd find hidden gems. The steamed wontons are a solid start. The filling combines aromatic pork umami with the mild sweetness of shrimp, accented by carrot, sesame oil, soy and scallions. Tossed in a chili-satay dark soy vinaigrette, the dish strikes a refreshing balance of umami, sweet, tang and lightly spicy notes. Bringing a crisp contrast in textures, this vegetarian-style green papaya salad combines refreshing cabbage, softer carrots, fried shallots, king oyster mushrooms, peanuts, mint, and airy shrimp chips. The fish sauce dressing is mild with a distinct acidity that offers an approachable version of Vietnamese-style salad for foreign tongues.“

“Had Pho and vermicelli. Food quality was very good though the brisket and rare beef portions in the Pho was noticeably less than comparable restaurants like Pho An Ngon. Staffs were ok. Had to wait 10 mins for a designated staff in order to pay my bill even though was standing right at the counter. The floor had quite a bit food crumbs.“

“I would say this place is the best Vietnamese restaurants in that’s neighborhood. Sorry, I took the picture when I was about to finish the dish. It’s not a good picture! I have gone to many Vietnamese restaurants in GTA. Some places give such a little amount of beef, the price is so crazy or you might find fruit flies in the dish..etc. This place is, regardless to say, the best Vietnamese in GTA! Trust me! You would never regret it!“

“Overall very good. Clean place, cozy decor (lots of plants, real and fake), welcoming staff, interesting menu with different items than other restaurants. The taste overall was good. I ordered chicken pho and added vegetables. It costs more but the end result is a much more balanced meal. Though I must say the size large came with a lot of noodles and not enough chicken. But I was happy that a large was actually quite large! Thank you! I also really like that they gave me a chilli pepper, I always prefer it. I also ordered to-go a box of fried squid cakes, they were really good, but smaller than I expected, so I felt they were very expensive for what I got. The dipping sauce that came with it was not my cup of tea, I’m not a fan of the shrimp paste flavour. The table top looks like it needs a better cleaning, if you look at it from an angle it looks dirty or oily. Otherwise overall I would say not a bad restaurant.“

“If you're hungry and in a rush plus healthy food? Don't ever think twice and come dine here! My favorite vietnamese spot in Toronto, the Broken Rice! Quality of the food and service is top notch as always. Big potential to be a proper restaurant!“

“Everything is great from this place even portions are surprisingly huge, without sacrificing quality of the food. I love their decorations, my only complaint is the lack of space. I do understand theyre busy and want to seat as many people as possible, but wow people pass by 3-4 inches away from your food.
Still, great food. Highly recommend. During dinner, it might be some wait but its worth it.“

“I’ve been coming to Bánh Mì Nguyệt Minh since I was a teenager. My parents used to take us to Dragon City for our Asian grocery runs, and we would always stop here after to grab a dozen bánh mì plus other Vietnamese snacks, desserts, and drinks. It’s honestly such a nostalgic spot for me.
The sandwiches always hit the spot. If you want more filling, you can just ask and they’ll add it. I’ve seen some people complain about the portion size, but realistically… where can you still get a $3.50 sandwich these days that actually fills you up?
Their cà phê sữa đá and fresh sugar cane juice are both under $5 — I always end up getting both because I crave them every time I come and the prices are so reasonable.
The staff and owner are also super friendly, which makes the experience even better. You honestly can’t go wrong coming here. Highly recommend supporting this local spot!“

“A hole in the wall. Very small and unassuming restaurant. However, I loved the food! I had the PBK and it was amazing! I will forever come here if I ever have a Bo Kho craving. 🥰 Also tried the shrimp toast, which was delicious in and of itself, but the sauce it came with? Incredible. The restaurant was quite cold (note that I came here during the polar vortex, so I get that it was cold) so had to keep my jacket on during the entire meal. Would highly recommend!“

“Easily the best bahn mi in Toronto. Most of their bahn mi is priced at 5.50 - theres a great selection! Fresh bread and meats, everything is so tasty. Also tried their steamed buns - fresh sweet steamed buns, stuffed with savoury filling. I will be making frequent trips here! I cant believe theres no line. Its easily better than the stores in West Chinatown, and Scarborough.“

“Great food and not too expensive!
Food - I have not ordered everything from Vietnam Lovely Noodle but I have ordered the Pho and one of the Curries. They are delicious. The portions are pretty large so you get a pretty good ratio between price and food. And if you cant finish you can always get it to go. When I was a student the curry was my go to meal either getting the rice or roti which was absolutely delicious. Food is also good to share with others.
Service - Service are great they are kind and last time I was there even gave me free croquettes. Additionally, I would usually wait for a takeout order and they always offered me water and tea.
Atmosphere - Atmosphere is good I would not say anything stands out I mean that in the best way. It can get busy but if you avoid peak hours you can catch the restaurant with not too much traffic.
Overall - Good food, good price, kind staff.“

“Mekong River in Toronto is one of those rare places that still understands the basic concept of feeding a human being properly. Not with some trendy little plate of disappointment, not with a “modern twist” that ruins everything, but with real food that shows up hot, flavorful, and actually worth leaving your house for.
First of all, the menu is huge. It’s Vietnamese, but it also dips into Thai and Chinese, because why the hell not? It’s like the kitchen looked at borders and said, “Yeah, we’re not doing that tonight.” Perfect for groups too, because nobody can ever agree on anything anymore. One person wants pho, one wants stir-fry, one wants something “light,” which is code for “I hate joy.” This place handles all of them.
Now the pho. Let’s talk about the pho. That broth tastes like it’s been simmering since the Cold War. Deep, rich, full of flavour, like someone actually put effort into it instead of dumping powder into hot water and calling it cuisine. You take one sip and your whole body goes, “Ohhh… so this is what comfort feels like.”
The portions are generous too. Not that fake generous where you get a mountain of rice and three molecules of meat. I mean real generous. You leave full, happy, and slightly ashamed, which is exactly how a good meal should end.
Service is friendly, the vibe is relaxed, and the food actually shows up tasting like somebody in the back gives a damn.
One more thing. Ask about the item that’s not on the menu called The JC Special. If you know, you know. If you don’t, you’re about to. Mekong River is solid. Go hungry. Leave quiet. That’s the sign you ate something good.“

“This is our go to local pho place. We also love the grill chicken and pork on rice. The pork chop has the bone in, and it's nice a tiny bit fatty for that awesome lip smacking juicy and savoury grill taste. The soup for pho is very tasty. I really enjoyed their beef curry as well. You can't seem to go wrong with most dishes. They also have specials from 5-8 pm on Mon to Thurs, so their deep fried butter wings are half off. Delicious and crispy!!“

“My man surprised me last Saturday, March 14 with a trip to Ossington and told me we were going there for dinner. As we kept driving, he finally revealed that we were going to The Lunch Lady, and I immediately got so excited.
Our reservation was at 9:00 PM, but the restaurant called earlier to let us know they could seat us sooner. We ended up sitting right in the middle of the bar, which is exactly what we prefer because we love being able to feel the atmosphere, watch the action, and enjoy the energy of the space.
The bartenders were fantastic. Dave and Justine were incredibly welcoming and engaging. There was also another bartender who was helping other guests throughout the night, but unfortunately I didn’t catch his name because he was busy assisting customers.
Since it was our first time visiting, we had a few questions about the menu. Justine explained everything so well, and the storytelling behind the dishes made the experience even more exciting. The food absolutely did not disappoint. Every dish was amazing—the aroma, the texture, and the presentation were all outstanding. The servers were also great at presenting each dish and explaining what we were about to enjoy.
We chose the family-style option, which I highly recommend, especially if it’s your first time. It’s a great way to try different dishes and experience more of the menu.
We also had the chance to meet Benedict, the owner, who was going around checking on guests and making sure everyone was having a great time. That kind of hospitality really makes you feel welcome and at home.
Another memorable moment was meeting AJ, a kind regular who was sitting beside me at the bar. He even shared some of his food with us, which I happily tried. It was such a warm and genuine interaction.
This restaurant is not just about amazing food—it truly feels like a family. You can feel the camaraderie and positive energy throughout the whole place.
I’m already looking forward to our next visit.“

Freshly opened and replacing another Vietnamese spot in East Chinatown, it serves to suitably fill in the void. The broken rice actually features broken rice, which has a unique aroma and more surface area to soak up the savory fish sauce.“

“Come here for the food not the atmosphere, as no frill as and as authentic as you are going to get in Chinatown.
C1. 福建米粉 aka Hokkien Noodles / Bún-mì-vàng Phúc-kiến
This very regional dish that is hard to find as this cuisine comes from a cross of the Fujian Region and Vietnamese Region coming together to formulate this dish. Traditionally this dish is served on the lighter side so the condiments such as the pickled garlic (a must) along with the fish sauce is to flavor to your preference as this dish is usually eaten a bit milder for the seniors.
The msg is a bit heavy so I don’t suggest to consume the soup too heavily, however do try at least half of it as it goes with the noodles and shrimp crackers very well.
The overall atmosphere is pretty hole in the wall like and they definitely need improvements on the interior and to get rid of that strong cigarette smell that comes into their shop. However if you are quickly coming here to grab takeout or a quick bite this is one of of my favorite spots to stop by for a nice unique bowl of noodles. If you do get takeout don’t forget the pickled garlic and maybe ask for a side of fish sauce as the broth might be a bit too mild for some. But do give them a shot and please support them as they are one of the few restaurants left that still makes this homey dish.
Hopefully they can make improvements, but for what it is, I’m not going to argue as other places in the area tend to give me a stomach ache and this place hasn’t, so come here for the food, not the atmosphere. And maybe stick with their specialty and don’t stray too far off on trying things they aren’t known for.“

“I’ve been coming here for years and it’s still one of my favorite spots in the city. The owner makes both the vegan and bone broths herself every night, using the same northern Vietnamese recipes she learned from her mom. You can really taste the care and balance in every bowl. It’s also one of the few places in Toronto with full vegan pho and vegan bánh mì, and they’re both excellent. Open late, run with heart, and always consistent. This place deserves a lot more love.“

“Not sure how I heard about this place, but I saved it as a place to try.
I kind of walked in with very low expectations and thought this was such a random location for a banh mi store. I always go for the OG so I ordered the assorted sandwich and thought it was really good as well as being reasonably priced ($7 w tax)
Would recommend and come back if I was in the area and craving a banh mi.“

“Hands down the best BUN BO HUE in the city. The combination of spices and spiciness in the soup base really hit the spot. I substituted the beef shank and pork bone for lean rare beef. “I think this is the only Vietnamese restaurant with this amount of selection of different types of snails. Also the Vietnamese pancake here was to die for if there's so many different menu options can't wait to go back and try different things everything was hitting. The banh cuon here was also fire usually I don't like that but here it's absolutely amazing.“
