“We recently stayed for 3 weeks in Galveston and experienced several restaurants. The meal we had here was by far the best we had. Food was interesting and beautifully presented, and service was top notch without being stuffy. We had 2 fish dishes, delicious creamed corn, split a wedge salad and the chocolate dome dessert. Too much food, to be honest. But a wonderful experience.“
“We were a party of 7. Saw the reviews and decided to give them a shot. Called and asked if there was a wait and was told no, so we headed that way. Got a call 5 minutes later stating that they had a table already set for us. Wow!Our waiter (forgot his name ?♂️) was polite and thorough. Food was priced very fairly and everyone enjoyed what they ordered (gumbo, bacon wrapped shrimp, bourbon street, shrimp platter, etc.) While waiting for our food, noticed that the GM seems to have a problem with our waiter. Actually told him to “leave and come back with a better attitude”. News to us, as he seemed very pleasant….?♂️ This exchange took place next to the order pick up window which was right in the seating area. The manager approached them and they all went to the back. The situation was handled very well from that point forth. Everyone returned to their job shortly thereafter. (Even the GM who continued with doing absolutely nothing productive). In conclusion, food was great, service was great and glad they had at least one competent person in house to handle the GM’s compete lack of care. You have a staff that seems to work well together (outside of the GM) and solid food. Don’t jeopardize it.I’ll be glad to discuss our overall experience more in depth with an owner.“
“I had the gumbo and highly recommend it. The gumbo comes in two sizes, big daddy and little daddy. The little daddy was more than enough for me. It's served with a scoop of steamed rice on top. The roux is dark and tasty. You can choose seafood or chicken/sausage gumbo. We also had the beignets; fresh from the fryer and covered in powdered sugar. Another notable item for breakfast is the chicken and waffles. The service was great.“
“We fully enjoyed our meal! This is authentic southern Italian all the way. The pasta is made fresh on site and we could taste the fresh ingredients in all the dishes we ordered. The portions are perfect size and even though we left full, we didn’t feel bloated and gross. That’s the sign of quality ingredients! The owner, Pina is wonderful! We chatted for a bit after our meal. This will be a definite stop for us next time we’re back in Galveston!“
“This is an awesome place to eat if you’re on the island. They serve breakfast ALL day. They have great seafood as well. I had the lump crab dip and they are very generous with the crab. Best I’ve had . The crab corn chowder was delicious. They have a wide variety of options for everyone. Outdoor patio available with great views of the water. The Bloody Mary’s were very good with our brunch. Not to spicy but bring you the stuff to make it as Spicy as you want. I will be back to try more . The building is unique and beautiful and perfect location right on the seawall.“
“The food was good. The only issue we had was outdoor seating had too many flies around.Next time will choose inside dining instead. We choose outdoor because it was less noisy. Thank you Jon, you did a great job serving us. Will definitely come back on our next Galveston trip.Parking: There is free street parking right in front of the restaurant. It could be difficult to find a spot during peak hours.“
“Come here for the first time today and man was it nice. First off I love the atmosphere and character of the old building. They have it fixed nicely both outside and in. It’s somewhat small inside but feels very comfortable they have quite a bit of seating outside too. I had the pasta and shrimp and it was delicious. My wife ordered the shrimp and grits and really liked it also. We will definitely be coming back soon.“
“The pizza was surprisingly good and you can get green olives way to go seahorse Grill! And they have tater tots- I will double down on saying I've never had a bad tater tot so enjoy sadly no Montucky Cold SnacksVegetarian options: TOTS!“
“My wife & had were in Galveston for 3 nights, tried to get reservations for dinner, but was booked every night. Ended up getting in for lunch.Paco, the owner greeted us with sincere intentionality, food, service, and ambience were all exceptional. It was a very memorable experience!Next time we are in Galveston, we’ll be sure to book our dinner reservations in advance. This should be a must on your list.“
“I've been going to Mario's Seawall restaurant since I moved to Galveston in 2012. Great food, good range in prices, affordable wine list, cheery staff. It's less than a quarter mile from my condo.Parking: Only one handicap space.“
“Visiting Galveston for a few days and wanted some oysters! This place did not disappoint! Friendly staff and atmosphere! Food was amazing! Best seafood gumbo I’ve had and oysters were very clean!Parking: Convenient paid parking on the street, parking lots and parking garage nearby. Very economical!“
“When it comes to dining at the “Saltgrass Steak House,” you’re in for a treat that transcends the typical chain restaurant experience. Nestled in the heart of Galveston, this establishment manages to capture the essence of a specialized steakhouse while offering the convenience of a well-loved chain.Let’s talk about the star of the show: the steaks. Despite being part of a larger restaurant group, the quality of the meat here rivals that of any standalone steakhouse. From ribeyes to filets, each cut is meticulously prepared and cooked to perfection. During my recent visit, I ordered a medium-rare New York strip, and it arrived precisely as requested—juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. The Saltgrass culinary team truly knows their way around a grill. After savoring the savory delights, I couldn’t resist indulging in dessert. The portion sizes at Saltgrass are nothing short of generous, and the sweet offerings are no exception. The chocolate cake was a delightful finale to my meal. Our attentive waiter, Jesse, elevated the dining experience. His warm smile and genuine enthusiasm made us feel right at home. Jesse’s attentiveness without being intrusive was commendable—a true professional who takes pride in his work.As if the culinary delights weren’t enough, the Saltgrass Steak House offers a stunning view of the sea. The sight of the waves crashing against the shore adds an extra layer of magic to your meal. It’s the kind of view that makes you appreciate the coastal charm of Galveston. In summary, the “Saltgrass Steak House” is more than just a chain restaurant—it’s a destination for steak aficionados, dessert enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a memorable dining experience. From the impeccable steaks to the friendly service and ocean vista, this establishment has it all.Parking: The restaurant has several reserved parking stall for the customers“
“We had the most amazing dining experience here a few weeks ago. Carlos was our server and he went above and beyond to make sure we got everything we needed. The food was all delicious, and absolutely loved the view! Definitely worth the visit.“
“Went here for my birthday. Had a reservation, so there was no wait to be seated, which was great for a Saturday night. Our server was great, very attentive and friendly. Loved the crab cake! ? Stuffed shrimp with asparagus was really good. Chocolate brownie cake for birthday dessert was excellent. Would recommend!Parking: There is a free parking lot just to the west of the restaurant. Didn't see it at first, as the front of the restaurant has about 10 parking spaces right on the street. Turned by the restaurant and saw the parking lot on the left.“
“I can’t drive anymore so DoorDash brought me my food. I am so delighted to say that it was the best meal I’ve had in a long while. The hummus was delicious, the spanakopitas as wonderful as I remember, and the gyro sandwich is my ultimate favorite. I love their food and just wish I could drive down to their great restaurant 2-3 times a week like I used to. But I added atmosphere because it was always super. Thanks so much!“
“Great spot! Quiet and moody, old world style with heavy woods and wonderful interior design. We stopped in on Sunday and the atmosphere was calm and pleasant. We opted for the cheese pizza and a beer and weren't disappointed. The only thing of note is that they don't offer frozen drinks. Other than that, wonderful experience.“
“That fondue was a meal all by itself with how amazing it is. Of course it's best when sharing with others so you can enjoy the fish platter options they have.Portions are huge for what you pay so it's worth it for the taste. Our waiter was really cool and everything looked well kept like the seating and ladies bathroom.I came from Houston to visit a festival and happy I took a chance with this place. ?“
“Great food !!! And awesome staff, they were on it!!! We did not wait long and they served you with a smile Something you don't see often in restaurants. I highly recommend it! We had pitas, Mahi, mixed fajitas, and fried mozzarella all was delicious.“
“John Paul is phenomenal. The food here is, as always, exquisite. Stone crab claws, crab stuff jumbo shrimp, and the tomahawk ribeye were absolutely perfect. The wine selection is nothing less than superb if you are a 'wine snob' and enjoy your reds from the old world. 5/5 every time we have come here over the past 11 years now.EDIT: what is up with people bringing a bunch of kids in here and then complaining and leaving poor reviews? This is not a restaurant for children, it is an upscale prime steakhouse. They serve phenomenal, expensive wines, the best beef in the state of Texas: this is not some pizza joint where you bring your three and five year old kids: there are better and less expensive options for families with young children. This restaurant has an exclusive and romantic upscale atmosphere. This is not a Chuck E Cheese. If your idea of a 'good steak' is a top sirloin from Golden Corral that is well done, you are going to be sorely disappointed coming here.Parking: Valet parking is validated if you eat in the steakhouse.“
“Visited the restaurant for my first time last weekend. The manager guided me through the ordering process, highlighted specials and offered samples of their custom sauces. I appreciated the attention payed and help offered to us. It was a great experience.“
“The food always tastes very fresh when we eat there. A lot of places leave their oil sick for a while and you can taste it when they fry something up but this place doesn't have that old oil taste to their fried food. The staff is always very kind and very supportive and we often go here when we are having our autism spectrum events in Galveston. They support those on the Spectrum 100%“
“I'm a food truck nut and this is definitely hands down one of the best in the gulf coast region! One little hint is that the truck is inside the Jamaican RV Resort park. He moves around inside the park during the summer and winter months so if you can't find him CALL! Hubby ordered the burger and fries and he LOVED it! I have to say that the fries were delicious and crispy. Better than most for sure. I got the Ruben and OMG was it fantastic! I'm pretty picky about my Ruben and this one definitely was one of the best! We both got the homemade lemonade and it didn't disappoint either! Now for something a little sweet you have to try his homemade funnel cake!!!!!! He has several varieties. We went with the strawberry cheesecake funnel cake and it was deliciously perfect.......I gained 5lbs. You definitely can't beat this little gulf coast gem if you're looking for something casual and tasty!!!“
“We stop by to have lunch to try the shrimp it was great definitely will be back. Didn't get to try the garlic Parmesan. But try the Cool ranch ones, they we good just wish they were toss in a little bit more seasoning, Will pass on the slaw next time, The Service was top notch!“
“The food was great. It was worth the money. The customer service was good. This was the second time we had eaten there. They have a very busy business. They need a bigger building to hold the business that they get. I understand that location is everything, but it seems like the business would follow them. I also understand that what is not broken doesn't need to be fixed.“
“I would describe this as a great place for people like me who like to eat at a local hole-in-the-wall. The food comes out hot and fresh and they serve generous portions. Great seafood should be served in disposable containers in my opinion, and this place does it. Tasty and a good value.“
“Best place we have been for seafood! Sean and Karen were our bartenders with top notch drinks and service. My wifes birthday dinner so they made it special with a keylime pie. I had the Gouper and she had the Sea Bass and we shared the mushroom risotto. We used to have a couple of favorites on the island but Saltwater just moved to the top!“
“Was recommended to come here for dinner on my first solo vacation by Damian and had a wonderful night! Amazing food, Burt played on the piano, and the staff made absolutely sure I had a great experience! Will definitely go back when I'm back in town!“
“Talk about a hidden treasure!! Me and family recently ate here, and everyone was 10/10 on their meals. The service was extremely friendly. The food was delicious and it came so fresh that we all had to give it a minute because of how hot the food was when it came out. Belinda was so friendly and welcoming and took great care of us, and we will no doubt be back here to grab burgers!!!“
“Yamato, the celestial realm of sushi perfection in Galveston, Texas, left me utterly enchanted. A culinary voyage guided by masterful artisans who wielded their knives like samurai swords, crafting edible masterpieces that danced on my taste buds. Each morsel was a symphony of flavors, a gastronomic sonnet composed with the freshest ingredients. The ambiance, a fusion of elegance and tranquility, elevated the dining experience to an otherworldly level. Yamato isn't just a sushi haven; it's a celestial sanctuary where taste transcends boundaries. Prepare for a gastronomic odyssey that will leave you starry-eyed—undoubtedly deserving of a five-star constellation of praise.“
“The atmosphere was very unique. It reminds me of a dive tiki bar, but fantastic, nevertheless. I may have had the best catfish of my life, and the service was outstanding. Clarissa was our food server, and she was amazingly kind in attendant. As a tourist to stumble, upon a place, like this is rather unique. This certainly adds to the mystique and the wonder that is Galveston Island on the Strand“
“I feel like this is a secret amazing spot. I’ve only ever been for lunch and it never disappoints. Staff is knowledgeable about the menu & friendly. I love the hot crab dip & the bang bang shrimp. Super cute inside! There is an in between sitting area on the patio that’s covered which is nice and gives a view of the Gulf. One of my favorite places to eat on the island.“
“We visited the 1877 Tall Ship Elissa and got a bonus of seeing the Gunilla which was in Port. We talked to a couple of the Elissa crew who just graduated from school and would be a part of her crew that will take her out to sea.The Gunilla has students from Sweden learning how to sail the open ocean. The group that was on board was heading back to Florida on Monday and then home as a new group of students was coming out to take over. It was very interesting to see the ships being maintained and in complete working order.“
“Captain ceviche is delicious. The lobster rolls are the best I've ever had. They put so much lobster. Their lobster tacos are amazing. Ive had ceviche at so many places even in other countries and nothing compares to theirs. The employees and the owner are so nice. I can't say enough good things about them.“
“I was recommended to this place by a friend. The atmosphere is inviting and mellow. Service from hostess to the servers are friendly and professional. The quality of the food was just fresh and amazing. I got the red snapper fish plate with crab meat on top(I highly recommend it) along with scallop potatoes and mushroom risotto. The red snapper was tender and broke apart with ease. The sauce for the scallop potatoes was creamy and well prepared too. The flavor of the food was never overwhelming, at least in my opinion. It's a little pricey, but you get your money's worth. I owe a big thank you to our server Landon for recommending this dish. We'll definitely be back to this place next time we're in Galveston.“
