The creativity behind the sauces truly sets this place apart, and I even heard the chef makes his own soy sauce—which absolutely shows in the depth of flavor. The Japanese uni was beautifully presented, and the tuna was a deep, rich red that melted in my mouth, finished perfectly with a delicate sprinkle of truffle oil. Every bite felt intentional and expertly crafted. I only wish I lived closer—this would easily be my daily go-to restaurant.“

There is a pleasing range of mezzes, salads, entrees hot and cold, flat breads, spreads, etc . I had a Yayla mule, 3 spreads, lemony rice soup and superb shrimp. Friends chose a range of other dishes. I can guarantee whatever you choose, you won’t be disappointed. Everything is flavorful, fresh and beautifully presented. “Trivia specific review! Wednesday nights are trivia night and they get packed so make sure to come early to get a table. My team and I like the format and it's just hard enough that it's challenging but not ridiculously obscure questions. As for the restaurant, it's a good venue for trivia and for general happy hour hangouts. The salads and sandwiches are decent. Lots of beer options, obviously, and even some wine and cocktail items on the menu. Service is usually friendly and quick. I wish they would run their happy hour specials through 7pm which is when trivia starts, but they only go to 6pm... too early in my opinion. But it is a fun spot to geek out and play trivia.“

Ever since I moved, I’ve been searching for the perfect spot—a place where both the food and the service are amazing. Let’s be honest, that’s hard to find. Often, the food is great but the service is just okay, or the service is excellent but the food falls short. When looking for a place to celebrate my wedding anniversary, a few options came up, and one of them was Sabores Tapas Bar. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it there at the time and ended up going to two other places—one was okay, the other was awful. Later, I told my wife we needed to try Sabores, maybe on New Year’s Day. Again, we ended up at a “safe” spot we like to visit. The food and service were good, but it was just our usual go-to. Fast forward to last week: my best friend from Puerto Rico came to visit with his family. He loves to eat, and his wife can be hard to please. This time, we decided to go to Sabores Tapas Bar. I’ll admit, I was nervous—I wanted them to have a great experience, but pleasing everyone is never easy. Finally, we went. What can I say? The food was amazing, and the service was just as incredible. It was so good we couldn’t stop eating. I had high expectations—growing up, my house was always full because my friends came over for my mom’s cooking. She’s an amazing cook. Mom, forgive me for saying this, but Sabores Tapas Bar is as good as, if not better than, your cooking, and the service was amazing. Wow. I’ve found the place. It’s so good that I want to go back and try dishes I normally don’t like, just to see if they can make me love them. I can’t wait to return. My taste buds have found the love of their life at Sabores Tapas Bar.“

“WOW! I live in DC and have tried basically every Thai place in DC but rarely make it to VA. Thai is some of my favorite food. My main complaint with most DC places is that the food is NOT spicy enough. Not the case here! I got the drunken noodles tonight and hands down they were the spiciest best I've had in the area! We loved having the whole bar and restaurant to ourselves in Ballston and welcoming guests from across the country and being in the Commentary’s/Westin’s care. I was gifted lentil soup along with a complimentary pastry to eat with my espresso. This experience was one of my favorites. Rosa, Joseph and Maria have been cooking my nightly meals more then a few times and it's always an absolute pleasure bc the food is top notch, they are friendly, caring and have a knack for making you laugh as soon as you enter the door. In this age where cookie cutter nonsense is the norm they are not. They feel like a part of the neighborhood. They know people's names (or ask) and just have a very down to earth vibe about them. I even got a bonus taco. Yes you read that right. A bonus taco. Who could ask for more after a long 12 hour day.
