The bread was so salty on top that I could not eat my sandwich and it had no mayonnaise on it and it was sloppily made. “Bakersfield has a lot of Mexican restaurants. We had camped in the beautiful Sequoia National Forest for four days and were jonesin' for some Mexican food. We picked Agave based on Google reviews and its proximity to the freeway. We got lucky! The service was good, and the food was great! The smoky salsa they served with the fresh tortilla chips was the first indicator that we had chosen wisely. The chile verde was as good as my mamacita could've made. Even the beans and rice were tasty. We ordered from the lunch menu, but the portions were perfect. Highly recommend!“

“Food is as expected in a premier sushi bar that puts in the effort. What stands out to me is the staff, who welcomed you the moment you open the door, the immediate service when you're seated and the food being on the table before you know it.

The server was never more than five minutes away from checking in and they made sure we lacked nothing.

They also clean the chairs and floor along with the table, whether it looks like it needs it or not. That's attention to detail and top flight standards.

The reasonable (for sushi) prices sure helped in forming this review, too.

“Our group, ten hungry people traveling from San Francisco to Los Angeles stopped in Bakersfield for Thai-Chinese foods. We were lucky, the owner did the cooking for us. Surprisingly, the quality of the food is authentically Thai and Chinese. Kee, the owner is a Chinese from Thailand and owns 3 branches in Las Vegas and other cities too. The service is excellent! and the facilities are very clean.“

“I recently visited my mom in Bakersfield. I lived there in high school but moved away about 36 years ago. We happened to be driving down California Ave so I told my mom that we should stop at Dewars to pick up some candy. She reluctantly agreed because she is not a big sweets or dessert person. Her one vice is ice cream so I was able to convince her to come in. The place is beautifully decorated in 50’s style motif and one of the servers dressed adorably. I got a mint chip with hot fudge and peanuts. The peanuts were so finely chopped and the hot fudge was delicious. Who would have thought that mint chip would be pink? I headed back to Florida the next day and I just can’t stop thinking about that incredible ice cream and experience. I guess I am going to have to visit my mom more often. Thanks for the treat Dewars. 🥰“

"Yes, menus". They were brought promptly. Putting a drink order in......well, that wasn't so prompt. We both ordered iced tea, one regular and one raspberry. They were served to us reversed. Both of us got a surprise drink before swapping glasses. From time of order to food delivery was good and eggs were nice, hot and freshly cooked. Once the food was dropped off, we would never see our server again. There would be no checking to see if we needed anything or ask how the food tasted so far. We had to flag down another server for refills and to ask for butter. A third person handled the transaction with her iPad. She was walking by and noticed us sitting there with empty plates and glasses. Very disappointing service - start to finish. The Food: The chili verde omelette was fantastic and better than some of our other breakfast faves. The fruit was also very fresh. The chicken fried steak premade and fried - not dredged and breaded on premise. The hash browns are not made with fresh potatoes grated on premise like most top breakfast spots. These potatoes are rehydrated and fried. In an oddity, I chose a biscuit as my bread choice and that usually includes gravy. This was served as - just a biscuit. No jelly, no butter, no gravy. The food was good enough that we'll return and try again.“

“This is one of my favorite places to go in town~ They always have the friendliest staff and their food never disappoints! Their new yaki noodles and tazuna rolls are really great. I loved their tazuna roll because I got to build what I like in it, since I always have the hardest time choosing between what roll I want. Their tea is so refreshing to drink! I got the mango black tea and it was definitely the perfect thing to have in today's hot weather. Great place to go for a casual lunch or dinner :) <3“
