“Solid rec! As I was walking by this place tonight, I said out loud I've never eaten here. I was going to go to salt and Pepper, but I didn't feel like sitting down so I ordered my Carnitas plate to go and I am so pleased. Best Carnitas I've had in a while.“

“Went here for girls night with 6 of us. The owner and the staff were amazing. The inside is the exact vibe we were going for, music wasn’t too loud so we could talk, felt like a warm welcoming environment. The food was amazing. “What a great discovery Cocina Mama Cholita was! Just a small unassuming place on Mission St that we happened to walk into. The young proprietor had us sample all three enchilada sauces since we were unsure about which ones to pick. All three were delicious, but the the mole sauce was one of the best I had ever tasted. “4 years in a row now this place has been our go to spot after working Folsom Street Fair, we drive up from out of state, have local friends help vend and finish the night off here with large portion sizes that taste incredible. “This is a family run place with outdoor seating. The food is quick, fresh and tasty. Women members of the family are nicer than the men, who can be clueless and unhelpful. Sometimes the meat is recooked in the crispy tacos which are otherwise my favorite. The flautas are also fresh and good as are the refried pinto beans.I like this casual place a lot—you can buy Russian River Brew next door at Raymnond’s excellent pizza place and sit in the sun with the locals.“

We had the mushroom tacos which were one of the best damn vegetarian tacos I have ever had in US!! Sweet potato tacos were pretty good too. Slightly pricy but the food and service make it worth it. “Really fun place. Probably the best house made tortilla chips I’ve ever had. Pliney on tap and beyond that a great selection. We both had salads and they were excellent. Burger was solid. Taco was mid for the price. It’s a 4.6 and that’s about what it should be at.“

I personally also add their habanero salsa which you'll have to request for if you like that much heat. Their house margaritas are the perfect accompaniment. The staff is all great. It's generally busy every time I'm there but luckily I've never had to wait very long for a table (that might just be luck).“
