“Definitely worth visiting. The signature ramen is so creamy, mochi noodles are great texture & wagyu mixed nigiri so so worth the price. Wagyu was so buttery & smoky. Uni & ikura are so sweet. So happy now that tummy is full. Will definitely be back to check out other dishes.“

“This was my and my best friends first time visiting me and it was amazing! Our server Mirai was exceptional and patient while we asked about items on the menu. Not only is the ramen absolutely delectable but affordable too. Being able to add toppings on the side was also an added bonus to the ramen. I also ordered the Furikake fries and it was insanely good! I can’t wait to go back. Thank you Mirai and the entire Kita Kata staff!!“

“One of the most consistent bowls of Ramen around prices, haven’t gone up by much. I always recommend the black squid ink (8/10) Ramen with pork belly (much better than the original flavor w/char sui, which i’d rate as 7.3/10), thick noodles, extra egg, 10/10 spice level (lvl 3 spice level is child’s play). Honestly better than most Ramen I’ve had in Japan. The chicken karage is top tier as well—highly recommend. Prices have gone up a few dollars over the years but still cheap place to eat out relative to other places! Can get noodle refill which is amazing.
Line can be long (at every location, for good reason) so I recommend coming after 8:15pm tbh“

“Really good ramen! All of their sides are delicious, but the shishito peppers are a must-try. I also love that they have both vegan and non-vegan options, so there's something for everyone. The staff is super friendly and made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend!“

“Ambiance: a bright, clean, nicely adorned establishment, with a striking painting as a feature wall...the wait and serving staff definitely contributed to the overall ambiance... Service: as with the many other reviewers, our experience was very similar with respect to the service, as our server was knowledgeable, friendly, competent, helpful, and attentive...did I say friendly...definitely one of the elements we will take away from the evening... Food: on the recommendation of our server, who was very helpful, knowledgable, friendly, and attentive, we ordered the Takoyaki and our server's favourite Spicy Garlic Pork Shoyu Ramen x 2. The latter was described as a "spicy soy sauce tonkatsu broth with garlic is served with two slices of chashu pork, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, egg, fried onions, seaweed, green onions, and buttered corn". I absolutely love ramen, and, to me, what defines any bowl is the soup base, described by a very learned chef as "an intensely porky, opaque pale broth with a sticky-lipped intensity, with the rich, buttery texture of light cream; the best sports tiny nubbins of fat swimming around on their surface, a slick of mayu (black garlic oil) or chile-sesame paste, a handful of thin-sliced green onions, a soft-yolked soy-sauce tinged egg, and a few slices of meltingly tender chashu pork belly". The broth definitely reflected the events described, and the many hours spent in preparation, with a rich texture and flavour, complemented, but not over-powered by either the chili nor the garlic. It was a wonderful recommendation that we would order again! All in all, the evening that left us very satisfied in terms of having our hunger sated, and taste buds quite happy... the true test is whether we return, and, should we find ourselves back in the city, we would most definitely make a return trip to try other dishes!!“

“Came for a quick dinner bite. Food was tasty and service was efficient. Easy dine out option for kids. Curry ramen is unique, and actually goes well with the karaage. Egg yolk in ramen wasn't runny. Karaage sando was tasty and a good value.“

“The best ramen in Culver City! I first had Ippudo in New York over a decade ago went it was arguable the top ramen spot in the entire city. Since then I’ve had it in Tokyo and now am so glad to have here in Culver. The Akamaru Modern is still as excellent and balanced a bowl as it’s always been.“

“I came here by myself around 4pm so it was between lunch and dinner rush. There was just another patron so the restaurant was quiet. I ordered the Green Gyoza and the House Ramen.
Both dishes were delicious. The gyoza had edamame and tofu inside. The sauce was sweet and spicy which complemented the gyoza well. The ramen broth was made from bonito flakes, kombu seaweed, scallops, and pork oil so it was very flavorful and light. It's possible to finish the whole soup if one wasn't full. It didn't have that heavy, oily feeling that one does with pork based ramen. They had red pepper powder and fried garlic pieces at the table to add more flavor to your soup.
This restaurant is Vegan friendly and will definitely come back to try their vegan ramen.
Service was great due to the restaurant being practically empty so I cannot speak about their busy hours.“

“Great price, great food, great atmosphere. Came here late with my friends, and Stella was an extremely accommodating and warm hostess. Even without getting extra toppings, it’s plenty of food. Extra noodles is great value to stretch your bowl if you’re really hungry.“

“My friend and I came to DTLA Ramen late Monday afternoon in order to wait out the traffic and have an early dinner, and lucky for us, we got in on the last hour of Happy Hour (weekdays 3pm-6pm), so we got $2 off our Ramen and $1 off our salted Edamame.
The Edamame was pretty good, although not too out of the ordinary even with the salt.
Our Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen, however, was savory, albeit not that spicy even though my friend got the Spicy (she rated it 4/10 in spiciness) ) and I got the Extra Spicy (6/10 in spiciness). So if you love it even hotter, don't be afraid to ask for even more heat.
The Chashu pork slices were nicely thick and charred, soaking up the broth while maintaining just enough crispiness. Both the broth and the noodle were also thick and delicious, giving you plenty of flavor with every slurp.
If there was something I felt lacking, it would be to have a bit more flair to the taste, since everything is a little one note and not a lot of depth and texture in the flavor. But that's OK, it was tasty as it was so we still ended up satisfied!“

“The ramen was great! Portions were good, broth was nice, noodles were cooked well. Toppings, however, are limited to only 3. I got the curry ramen which was different but unique. Also got garlic edamame...for the price it was a small portion but tasted great.
The service was fast. You order through tablets outside or inside. Reminiscent of Japan.
There's bar seating and a couple booths inside with additional seating outside. The space is very cozy and welcoming. Downside is parking. Its only street parking or if youre lucky the lot across the street.“

“I was in the area so stopped by for their mazemen. It was delicious and tasty and the portions were very big. I struggled to finish the noodle and had to get the rice to go. Price is a little on the high side but makes sense for the quality of food. If you haven't had this style of ramen before, this is a great place to try!“

“Food was great. Got the Max (extra thick) soup and it's like gravy. The flavor is unlike any other ramen I've tried. I'm a little sensitive to salt, so like most restaurants, it's a little salty for me. Washed it down with some cheese bread and still had to lick the bowl dry.
It's fun watching the World Cup on their numerous, large TVs. As usual, traffic is a pain in the area, but at least they have a large and comparatively cheaper parking lot right behind them.“

“I was a JA kid in the 80s and 90s. After CYC basketball games and Tamiya Mini 4WD races, my family would head to the third floor of Yaohan and enjoy the great flavors of Hana-Ichimonme. This was, hands down the best ramen in downtown back then, and I can't wait to taste it once this pandemic is over. Okaerinasai!“

“The food was pretty good. We got the vegan ramen and dumplings, and while they were both tasty and filling, I think the ramen was just a little bland. It needed more salt or something. The waitress was very nice, but hard to get a hold of. There's also included gratuity if that rubs you wrong. Overall, it's worth a visit.“

“Loved Loved Loved the food and attentive staff. The young men serving us worked fast and kept us informed when our table would be ready. We wanted to sit at a table, rather than the counter. I learned this place stays open late on the weekends and this is where many restaurant staff come to eat! This place is tiny, yet cozy. The tables are placed a bit close, but you still have privacy.
She shared the gyoza which was crispy on the outside and flavorful inside. One friend ordered the yakisoba and I tasted it which was very good, I will order it next time. My other friend ordered the mabo tofu which I also had a chance to taste and I could easily understand why my friend says this dish is her comfort food. I ordered the Tan Tan Ramen and it was so good! I took half home to share with my husband.
There are so many other dishes I want to try next time! Free parking on the lot. We had to wait 15 minutes for a table, which was totally ok. because the food was so good! Prices are reasonable too. OH! They have Happy Hour!!!“

“Ended up getting spicy chicken Ramen, and to be completely honest, it's definitely One of the better Ramen spots I've had in a loooooong time here down in SoCal. The broth was just 👌, egg perfectly done and not to mention the quality of the meat. I really don't understand how this place only got 4.2. In my solid opinion this place is 4.9 at least , and for the price and the quality it offers I would definitely rank it 5.0. Overall quality of a ramen easily could be compared to ramen you would have in Japan.
Definitely would recommend, you will not be disappointed“

“My dinner at Kanpai Sushi in Santa Monica was nothing short of extraordinary. Chef Yoshi is a true master sushi chef. While he may not be new to the craft, his skill, precision, and deep understanding of traditional sushi brought me back to a time when sushi was simply done right.
In fact, Chef Yoshi could probably serve me a shoelace, and it would be the best thing I’ve ever eaten.
Everything was exceptionally fresh. The wasabi had a vibrant freshness that elevated every bite, and the ginger practically melted in my mouth. I sampled as much toro as I could possibly eat, along with an incredible selection of fish that showcased Chef Yoshi’s mastery and attention to detail.
The Kumamoto oysters were so delicious they made me want to kiss my fingers and thank the heavens. The uni was phenomenal and remains one of my favorite bites of the evening. However, the biggest surprise was the seared salmon belly. It was my first time trying salmon prepared that way, and it absolutely blew my mind.
Instead of ending the meal with dessert, I finished with a hand roll that combined fresh tuna and crispy shrimp tempura, topped with eel sauce. The contrast of cool, fresh tuna and warm, crunchy shrimp tempura created an unforgettable bite and was a complete game changer.
I’ve been eating sushi since I was 18 years old, and now well into my 50s, I can confidently say this is the best sushi restaurant I have ever experienced. Beyond the incredible food, the staff was attentive, professional, and genuinely respectful throughout the entire evening.
I have officially found my favorite sushi spot.
Thank you, Chef Yoshi. I’ll be back very soon.
