“this is a must try. it is one of my favorite places in the SGV and is easily the best sichuan restaurant i have ever been to. i strongly recommend the zajiangmian, and all of the cold dishes. the sliced pork with garlic sauce is standout. i have not tried much else from their menu yet, but i would feel confident ordering any dish. the portions are generous and the pricing is fair. if you like sichuan food, get in your car right now and get over here. it’s worth it.“

When being asked "Where do you live" I tended to ask "in hotels". At my peak, I "shot" 250 shows a year. Will say: been there, saw and tasted it, and a lot, as I may say, and much to the dismay of my doctor who is in my back to lose a few pounds. While I love to share my experience with others, I am sometimes shocked at how people use their "power of the word" to down-rate amazing places because of minor incidents (in my all-time favorite​ restaurant Le Petit Four on Sunset Plaza the owner was even called a racist as he refused to toast the (free) bread in his packed restaurant - they simply do not offer toasted bread, as no French​ place does, as I may add). Or I just read "Chicken piccata so over-salted I hope the dog enjoys the leftovers tomorrow, I brought home most of the dish." Did they speak to their service? How could the restaurant learn that something was wrong when patrons even have their leftovers​ boxed to take home? As a dog owner,​ I want to take the writer and shake him or her really bad and say "You give over-salted food to your dog? Anyone with a bit of brain understands this is a horrible idea...​ I hope you agree.So If I had a say on this portal, I would offer just to see the ratings of my friends. So I would see what the ratings were by like-minded people. Sadly, I have no say. I try not to compare apples with oranges. A place like this does not correspond to "The Ritz". “I love this restaurant so much! It’s never as full as I think it should be; maybe people are intimidated by the DIY element? (It’s a build-your-own malatang / mala dry pot kind of spot.) The flavors are authentic and spicy (but you can dial down the spice if that’s not your thing.) there’s also a cash discount if you pay with cash.

“Good Alley is a welcome addition to the area for authentic dumplings! If you're craving traditional Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), this place is an excellent choice. As someone with high standards for soup dumplings, my all-time favorites are Ma Ma Lu and Thumbling in West Covina. I’d say the soup dumplings here are slightly better than Thumbling's, with fresh, high quality ingredients and a rich, flavorful broth. In addition to the soup dumplings, the Beef Rolls and Sichuan Dan Dan noodles are fantastic and worth trying.

I’m deducting one star for the price-to-portion ratio. The portions are small, and the prices are on the higher side, so you may feel like the value isn't quite there. However, the pricing is still more reasonable than Ding Tai Fung, so it balances out a bit.

“I googled "best Chinese in LA" and then this popped up as the #1 place. So we drove - and had a very good meal. However, if you expect the classic Chinese dishes, you will be disappointed. This is Shezuan, "a different animal". So no rice, no sweet-and-sour-this-and-that. So be prepared for very spicy Szechuan food. Noodles. No rice. Try the dumplings, they were delicious. We ordered mild (1 out of 5 spice degrees) and we were burning inside (we had two separate orders of dumplings - but spice grade 1. There is no consistency, so be careful). So if spicy is what you are "in" for, you'll love it. The ambiance is sort of authentic ;-) - the sign on how to use the toilet (outside the restaurant in the alley) says more than words. But then, it was $100 all-in for the four of us only. My advice: I could barely understand the service language. Better check the menu before you go. As we were first-timers, I wanted to share three starters and three mains among the four of us and leave it up to the waitress to make us explore - she did not understand. I asked if they served beer. The answer was "noodles or dumplings". :-)“

“I keep coming back for the veggies. The green beans and the seaweed with tofu is the best. Their knife-cut noodles with mushrooms have this fantastic smoky flavor—though the portion is a little small. Thankfully, you can swap in brown rice if you prefer.
The Salt & Pepper Tofu is a standout—crispy on the outside without being overly breaded—and the Spicy Pork Dumplings are just the right level of heat.

Pro tip: Parking is easier across the street if you’re cool with a short walk.

“I decided to try their Hainan chicken dish so I had a to-go order. As I was ready to pay, I was told that a minimum charge of $15 is required for credit card payments; hence, I ordered osmanthus tea. I didn’t have to wait too long for my order to be ready, and I had my dinner in my hotel room. There were three types of sauces (ginger, spicy and soy), and i enjoyed the dish. There’s a plenty of rice to finish the chicken as well!! The only reason I deducted a point from their service was that there was no utensils included in my order. I will remember to ask for utensils next time I time, as I stay at a hotel in the area.“

“A well-known Chinese restaurant with a good size menu. They also have a small Dim Sum selection. The restaurant is clean, the service is good and plenty of off-street parking. The food is well prepared and tasty. We had the pork fried rice and the orange chicken.

Parking: Approximately 20 spots of free off-street parking. Pull into the driveway and park behind the restaurant and you can enter the restaurant from the back door or the front door.“

“TL;DR BBQ Pork Buns are 5 stars. Every other dish I've had is 3 stars.

I've had 4 dishes from here: Chop Suey, Kung Pao Chicken, Snow Peas and Water Chestnut, and BBQ Pork Buns (Dim Sum)

To be honest, I can only recommend the BBQ Pork Buns, but I recommend it highly. It is the best dim sum pork bun you are going to get in Glendale. The filling has a lot of flavor and isn't too dry, and the bun is very soft and fluffy.

The other dishes were okay. I don't expect them to be authentic, but across the board, they generally just lack flavor, which puts them below other Chinese restaurants in Glendale for me.

It is really great that they have a couple dishes with water chestnut though. So for this fact, and the quality of the BBQ Pork Buns alone, I'm giving them 4 stars.
