John and Nyna Weatherson, along with their entire team, created a truly special experience from start to finish. We enjoyed the four-course prix fixe menu with the wine pairing, and every course was outstanding. The food was creative, beautifully presented, and most importantly, absolutely delicious. The wine pairings were spot on and really complemented each dish.

What stood out just as much as the food was the hospitality. Everyone made us feel welcome, and the personalized anniversary touches were greatly appreciated.

Truckee is fortunate to have a restaurant of this caliber. If you’re looking for a memorable dinner, special occasion, or just an amazing meal, Trokay is worth every penny.

“I was so impressed by the service at Dopo Pizza & Pasta. We made a reservation for our anniversary on the Saturday night of Labor Day weekend. The restaurant was packed and they were running behind. Our table was delayed by 20 mins. That certainly could have tanked our evening but the manager and wait staff went above-and-beyond to make it up to us, offering wine and an appetizer on the house while we waited and continually checking in with us. Some problems can’t be avoided in a restaurant, but the way you handle them and take care of your guests are within the establishment’s control and the management of Dopo exemplified the “right” way to handle these things. Oh, and the food was great, too! Highly recommend the burrata app.“

It is a beautiful, tranquil space, and the sandwich I had, Ban mi (add turkey)...beyond exquisite. The lavender drink concoction was eloquent and refreshing. “The best part of this restaurant is it's environment and it's dog friendliness. We always go with Ares our JRT and you often see other dogs, on the patio. Food is good too, but I actually like my own cooking of quality meat in general.“

“I got the 1/2 tritip plate with coleslaw and rice with tortillas. Very tasty and fills you up. My daughter got the 1/2 chicken (which is literally half of a chicken) with coleslaw and rice with garlic bread and she brought half home. it was all tasty.“

“We were in Truckee for the day and wanted something different. This was the perfect place! Outdoor dining was amazing balls! Comfy setting, like your own outside patio. The food was exactly what we wanted! A watermelon non alcoholic spritz was so refreshing. Not sweet but more blended fruity mix. A hot tasty sandwich, perfectly crispy sweet potato fries and that day.. a velvety French onion soup. It was a different type of bread, bunch of spices and big slice of the cheese! So much cooked onions and a broth that tasted like it was cooked for hours, to get a deep rich beef taste. Staff was so friendly and nice. Will be going back to try their pizzas and salads!“

“After a bite at the Cafe, great food & staff, we hiked to the Aspen Grove. The colors have just changed and it was glorious. Short hike into the woods with all of Mother Nature’s fall palette in full view. By the time you read this the leaves will have fallen, but you should still go by Alder Creek Adventure Center ASAP!“

“This is a good place to stop and have lunch during your Northstar ski experience. However, I can't give it five stars because the prices are at least double the normal cost. That applies to everything sold here. Options for vegan or vegetarian guests are very limited. All that aside, it's a nice ski lodge, and the food is fine if you like burgers, fries, pizza, chicken tenders, etc. Lines are usually short, and the staff is friendly and helpful. It is clean and tidy.“

“Don't let the casual name fool you—Truckee Tavern and Grill completely blew us away. I walked in thinking it was just another local grill, but the food is absolute high-end restaurant quality. Every single dish was incredibly fresh, exceptionally tasty, and the flavors were perfectly paired together.

On top of that, the service was excellent from start to finish—we felt genuinely welcomed from the moment we walked through the door, and our server was fantastic. “Great service! We were able to sit in the dining room near the fireplace. My favorite ! It set the stage for a night of lovely ambiance and great food! We had lovely Cocktails served promptly. We omitted appetizers. Hubby had the steak and frites and a salad. All was excellent . I started with a cup of the Greek Lemon soup. Delicious! This was followed by the Thai Shrimp. Sooooo yummy! Spicy and so full of flavor! I had to share with Hubby and he loved it too. It was a very generous portion. We shared the sorbet selection which was a refreshing end to a lovely date night at the Lodge! Thanks to all our servers and staff. Our compliments to the Chef and his crew!“
