The owner is the sweetest, most delightful human with an incredible story and the food/service is an unmatched experience. Plus, you simply can’t beat their affordable omakasi prices…but the bigger bonus??? BYOB. Bring your wine, bring your tequila, bring neither or bring both. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a party in the most intimate sense. “Ended up here accidentally on a layover: Hands down, the best ramen I’ve ever had (springy, slurpy perfection), amazing cocktails (if you like gin the Japanese 75 is a must try!), and whatever the whipped cream, creme brûlée’d banana dessert was tasted like heaven. I even ordered another tonkotsu ramen to go (all the way to Florida) to bring back to my fiancé. They separated all of it, packaged it so it wouldn’t leak, and wrote directions on specific timing for heating up each item! Very impressive service. I’ll be back again!“

“We had an amazing experience here this evening. The atmosphere was extremely relaxing and chill. The simple artistic decor creates a serene atmosphere. The food is delicious. We especially loved the beef tartar, duck, miso cod, milk bread, and shirt rib. Sticky toffee pudding was rich, but somewhat delicate. Cocktails were well balanced. Everyone was extremely attentive and the attention to detail made the entire experience one to cherish. I highly recommend this place. It's tucked away, but worth the trip. Looking forward to our next visit!“

“Great Sushi and Ramen place on Hudson Yard, been here many times. I love their new ramen Shiromaru Classic, signature maki, Suram bowl and Omakase. Their staff very friendly, helpful, great recommendation. Special thanks to Cristian and all his team, fast service.

“Sushi Makoto was a very fresh experience. The selection of fish was standard but the other appetizers and dishes were unique. The vibe is awesome— with a little more intimacy than some other omakase spots in the city. As well, for the price point, the value here is great. I’ve paid more for less in the city and it feels like these days it’s hard to find “good” omakase for under $200 PP. Corkage fee is very reasonable, and their sake cooling decide is almost worth a visit in itself!

My only quarrel is that it took some time to get seated, for a reservation at 7, a lot of the guests from earlier were still dining and we weren’t sat until closer to 7:20. Which isn’t the end of the world, but something to perhaps note from a business side. Lastly, I would’ve liked to be offered more at the end of the meal instead of being given the cheque. Perhaps that’s standard protocol but it was not offered to us our evening there.

Regardless, amazing experience. Truly loved this spot.“

“Great dinner here on a Friday early evening! We made a reservation but they take walk ins as well. We came with our toddler and they were accommodating and had a high chair! My favorites were the scallop hand roll and the tuna hand rolls.

While it is on the pricier side at $175 per person, the quality of the food made it worthwhile. “Had a lovely omakase dinner. BYOB is the cherry on top. Chefs were knowledgeable and it’s definitely a fun date night spot. Favorite bites of the night were the hamachi appetizer with grape tomato and the unagi with foie gras. Already have recommended this to my friends!“

“NY born and raised. Currently live in the LES. Made it a mission to hit all of the omakase joints in the area, and can confidently call this my favorite.

It’s more on the intimate side as far as ambience is concerned which the service complements perfectly—they are so attentive, polite, gentle, and friendly.

Aside from impeccable service and a beautiful spot, the chefs hold it down! Best food there is I believe. The highest quality from Japan that other places will charge $500+. You can just go to no name for a better experience and food just as good if not better, and it will be a fair price. We paid $120ish for a premium 17 course…can’t really beat the value you’re getting.

Best bang for your buck omakase and check off all the boxes all around. Highly recommend!

“Went to celebrate my birthday and it was totally worth it!! Super fresh and great quality pieces! Will definitely be coming back soon! I was getting a little uncomfortable at the end due to the sitting but it’s definitely a nice experience and worth it. My only complaint is they don’t give you enough sheets of seaweed for each piece. They charge you a little extra when you order more….. but still ok and worth it at the end of the day. RUN don’t WALK“

“I found this restaurant early this year when I got off work one day, and I come to eat here EVERY week since then. No kidding, I love this place. The food is very authentic, the music here is always a happy surprise to my ear, price is very reasonable, and mostly importantly - I LOVE the owners here! I speaks a little bit of Korean so they were kinda shocked the first time I say hi to them in Korean. But even if you don't speak any of their language, they are always so freaking nice and kind!!! They have a lot of returning customers, they chat with everyone that comes in and treating others like their friends and family. They learned my name the second time I came, and now I have been coming here for about 3 month straight and they are seeing me as their little sister. I will keep visiting this place and bring my friends here too. I hope they are doing well and their business is growing. Much love,

“I went because I saw this place on social media and the ayce/aycd was definitely worth it! They only had two kinds of sake for the aycd part but the yuzu sake was really tasty. The fish was quite fresh and overall not too bad. The only weird part was the fact that there was NO ONE else with us in the restaurant 🤣😭Otherwise, it was great! I'll probably swing by again and hope that there's more people the next time I go lol“

“I highly recommend Toriya.
Delicious authentic yakitori with so many options it's hard to choose.
They also offer larger plates and smaller appetizers as well. I had their seafood okonomiyaki which was wonderful.
The drink menu is wonderful offering a good selection of Japanese beers, soju, and a very extensive and well crafted sake menu.
Also I was seated immediately despite dropping in at a prime time on a Friday evening.
The ambiance is very nice, well decorated with excellent choices in music that is not overly loud.
The staff were all lovely and very attentive as well. Truly top notch all around.

“This was our second visit to Noz Market. They never fail to impress and satisfy. The cuts of fish are large and wrap all the way around the rice. The nigiri are seasoned perfectly, skillfully and with precision. The chefs here truly practice the art of sushi. The two omakase options are reasonably priced, and you can add extra pieces at the end of the experience. My Japanese fiancée emphatically approves, which should tell you what you need to know about this restaurant. Not too difficult to make a reservation a few weeks ahead of time, but definitely make one in advance. We will most certainly return.“
