“Amazing Japanese cuisine in Costa Mesa, CA. This place is one of the best Japanese restaurants in all of Orange County. The interior style resembles what all Japanese restaurants should look like, and most importantly, the food and service was top notch. They have an extensive sushi menu and it has always been very fresh and also Japanese imported. Hands down, my top 5 favorite Japanese restaurants in California.“

“We had the restaurant’s course menu, and every piece of sushi was absolutely amazing. The fish was incredibly fresh and literally melted in our mouths, while the bite-sized sushi rice made each piece easy and enjoyable to eat. We finished the entire course in no time! They also served Japan’s famous Sapporo beer, making us feel as if we were dining at a high-end sushi restaurant in Japan. It was an unforgettable and delicious experience. Highly recommended!“

“Such a wonderful omakase experience! The chef is incredibly talented and clearly puts a lot of thought and skill into every dish. The quality and freshness of the ingredients were excellent, and each course was beautifully presented and thoughtfully prepared.

I especially appreciated EDY the chef’s, his creativity and attention to detail. Everything felt balanced, refined, and carefully crafted. You can really tell there is passion behind the food.

Overall, a memorable dining experience with high-quality sushi and a very talented chef. Definitely a place I would recommend and would love to visit again!

“I grew up in Laguna beach my whole life and would always pass by here but never got the chance to eat here. I finally decided to stop by for lunch.

The service was quick, friendly and attentive. I ordered the chicken karaage bowl which was good. I saw the other food being made and served to other patrons and it looked delicious.“

He was like joy and sunshine in human form, and something about this place felt so calming. I went from hangry meltdown in the car to totally fine within minutes of being inside. The employee was so friendly and kind that all my hangry rage melted away. Completely impressed. I ordered the poke bowl, and it was incredible. “This is a mom and pop operation. The service was friendly but slow, so be prepared for a wait. However, it was well worth the wait. I ordered the salmon and eel bento and it was super tasty. The real star was the eel. I also ordered an avocado roll that was mediocre. Definitely stick with the bento.“

“We’ve been to so many omakase sushi bars all over the world and K’s Bistro is one of the best.

For $150, you get IMMENSE value. And there are no compromises on quality. Here I might have had one of the best bites of tuna I’ve ever had. Chef added mustard to it. Mustard! And it transcended the bite.

And.. not one bite of uni and caviar, two!

Run to this place. Sit on the bar. Get the $120 or $150 omakase, and get ready for one of the best culinary experiences in the OC.“

I typically order online and pick-up in-store. Everytime I order, they make sure to wait until I arrive to pack up my udon to ensure that it stays hot. The dedication and care that goes into making the food and packaging everything is beyond incredible!

My go-to order is their Soy Marinated Salmon Yubu and Creamy Onion Salmon Yubu. I also always grab Udon with my order as well. It is perfectly sized so that you have enough room in your stomach to enjoy the udon and yubus!!

“Wow. Seated promptly on a busy Thursday night, drinks and orders were taken and received in a timely manner, and waiter had great solutions to food preference. Restroom was clean, open windows provided a nice airy breeze even though the place was packed. Food portions were decent. I have nothing negative to say! “This is legit authentic Japanese food, even with the little potato salad in the salad and the dressing is actually not your fake Benihana sesame dress it even though I love that stuff. This is a very light fresh flavor. The tempura was unbelievably fresh. I wasn’t a huge fan of the flavor or the quality of the meat. Maybe I couldn’t tell the chicken teriyaki but it wasn’t bad. It just tasted like maybe the chicken was pre-cut or pre-prepared or something or maybe frozen before for a while but wasn’t horrible. “Wow! What a find! Had lunch at Tomo Sushi and everything was just so genuinely good. I ordered the cucumber salad and the sashimi roll, and the chef surprised me with complimentary crab tempura. OMG… that crab tempura was incredible — the flavor just burst in your mouth.

And the miso soup? Definitely a winner. Not lukewarm like so many places… I mean actually hot, fresh, rich, and flavorful. You could really taste the care in it.

The sashimi roll was amazing too — “flavorful” honestly doesn’t even describe it. The fish tasted super fresh.

The restaurant itself is quiet and comfortable, with two chefs and one server, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Nothing felt forced or over-the-top… just genuine hospitality and really good food.

Not a large restaurant but we still only waited about 15 mins for 2 people. I've lived right around the corner from this restaurant for over 30 years and I regret I never once stopped in once.
