“This most positive, heart warming experience I ever had at a restaurant! Super kind and personable! All people and businesses owners should take note on how to treat their customers! With great customer service came fantastic sandwiches! Without a doubt, we will be costumers for life! Looking forward to trying more sandwiches! Deena (sp) thank you for treating us like “family”!“
“This is one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Before I even finished it, I was already looking at the menu of what I am going to get next time. Went in to place the order, being it was my first time, and they were very quick.. I ordered the Jack Hammer on Rye, which is very delicious. This will be my go-to lunch spot. There was so much meat on the sandwiches and came with a small side of potato salad or macaroni salad. Great quality and friendly service..Update. Ordered The Godfather (hot) very very good as well 10/10.“
“Large portions. Friendly staff. Food is pretty dang good. Prices APPEAR to be a bit high due to the neighborhood, but portion easily gave me 2 meals. Well worth it. Huge portions!I came there with 2 hungry coworkers. We all left with extra in boxes for later. I happily recommend this place, straight up.Owner was part of the staff during our lunch. Great guy, very much "on it".Complaints: parking is a hot commodity in this neighborhood. Not their fault! Lol!! (Or is it? Hard to deny how many people like this place!)In short? This place has become a "go to" for many in a very short time. This "up and comer" is getting VERY popular for good reason!Dietary restrictions: Keto friendly in a heartbeat. Diabetic friendly same. I had multiple options, and I'm surprised at the options available.“
“Was craving a true deli sandwich and this didn't disappoint. Went for The Gaslamp (minus tomato) and it's massive, delicious and hit the spot. Slightly drippy/messy so grab extra napkins. I think I accidentally got extra meat as the ~$13 sandwich ended up being ~$15.50 after taxes and a 'surcharge' which I guess was for using a credit card? Not very busy on a Thursday before noon, one woman making the sandwiches. She was helpful, pleasant and put a smile on my face. The market sells some groceries, snacks, alcohol...“
“This place was very unassuming but the sandwiches were great! Literally a hole in the wall with great food which are our favorite places to stop for lunch. As I was standing there I noticed the smell of freshly cooked bacon which made me more hungry. They had creative choices and a lot of them. The deli meats and toppings tasted fresh and the sandwiches were nicely crafted. All our sandwiches were spot on. To top it all off the service was very friendly. If you are looking for a quick lunch for the family check this place out!“
“This place is a GEM! Fantastic selection of domestic and imported cheeses, drinks, snacks. They have a lot of locally made gourmet foods available. Great craft beer and wine (local and imported) selection. It's located close to Pure Project and I recommend getting food here first. They have a fantastic and reasonably price deli inside with tons of food options all prepared fresh. You can tell this place is a neighborhood staple.“
“Very impressive Banh Mi sandwich here at Bale French Sandwiches! Their price is unbeatable, all the Banh mi are under $6.5, and their size aren’t too small. It’s like a 6 inch sandwich, perfect for one person. The sandwich has a lot of stuff inside, it’s filled with veggies and meat. I ordered a BBQ pork and a beef Banh mi, both are awesome. I highly recommend this place, plus their service is so friendly!“
“My favorite sandwich spot in San Diego. Maybe anywhere in the USA.Tucked away in an apartment complex, Al & Nelly have been in the deli business for over 40 years. And it makes sense when you eat their food: An intelligent mix of classic deli sandwiches, specials, and new favorites.Take for instance Al's Famous creation - a club sandwich piled high with meat, bacon, avocado, and slathered in a secret Italian dressing sauce. It's the pinnacle of sandwich comfort food, and a lifelong effort dialing in the perfect textures, flavors, bites, and portion. They also call back to their heritage with a Falafel Friday special - fresh, crisp falafel right out of the fryer slapped between fluffy pita, homemade pickles, and a tangy yogurt sauce. It always runs out before close.Al & Nelly are super kind, running a tight, clean, and efficient operation. The amount of food you get with these sandwiches at these prices makes this deli meat pound-for-pound one of the best spots in San Diego for your breakfast and lunch desires.“
“The sandwiches are very good here. Plenty of options for both hot and cold sandwiches. Only complaint is the prices are a bit steep for a sandwich that doesn't quite fill you up. I still recommend it though and the staff is very nice, particularly the young woman who takes your order.“
“For only $2 each their bread is a must, their bread is like Costco chicken, the cheapest in the area but it will made you order different things and end up paying for more lol. Smoothie are all good personally I like the water melon n their mango. Bahn mi sandwiches are to try for, I like bbq pork.“
“insideOUT is a wonderful place right in the heart of Hillcrest. We were seated the moment we arrived. The place is gorgeous and something different for people who are bored with an ordinary restaurant. The staff were all so kind. And the food is sublime! *chef's kiss* We will be back very soon. But getting an outdoor reservation... now THAT'S the hard part.“
“All I kept saying the entire time I was eating my sandwich was "mmm..." mmm!" "Mmm this is a good sandwich" and "this is a quality sandwich". Really top notch quality sandwiches. And great service as well. Everything was so fresh and the combination of everything in the sandwich was delicious. We tried the green flash and navigator sandwiches. They were both incredibly delicious. Should've tried this place out much sooner! Will definitely be back.“
“Really tasty banh mi! I got the dac biet and boy do they pack in the meat. My wife got the vegetarian (chay) banh mi which comes with a juicy vegetarian meat loaf which she said was delicious. Not much to say about the store front but the quality is in the sandwich.“
“Love this place!!!! Love the staff & the patrons. Love the food!!!! Best samwiches anywhere. They have great beers on tap! So why did I change my stars from 5 to 4"l? Bc it's freezing in the store & the manager refused to close the garage door window at the bar! We were there watching the Super Bowl & everyone in the restaurant were freezing", even the staff was cold, but the manager refused to close it.... We had to leave, go get dinner, drinks & finish watching the game elsewhere!!!!!! Seriously, your restaurant doesn't looked closed from the outside if the lights are on & the bar's crowded!!!!“
“My go to for breakfast sandwiches and lunch. They have even catered our company lunch before and everyone was extremely pleased. Service from the staff is always welcoming and positive. The indoor or outdoor seating is perfect for all weather conditions. 100% recommend to all those looking for a great meal at any time of day.“
“This place has definitely become one of my go-tos after a climbing session. Healthy food options and reasonably priced with good portion sizes. So far the tuna bowl is my favorite. The new ahi tuna sandwich that they have is also quite delicious, but it is a seasonal “
“I just walked in to see what they had and got the California smash burger, overall it was good but it had a burnt spot, I didn’t mind.As I walked in they didn’t give me that look of “please eat here”, so that nice. I would come here “
“There is this story of Leonardo da Vinci where he drew a perfect circle freehand to demonstrate his mastery. That's how I feel about this spot. The sandwiches don't try to distract you with gimmickry. They are timeless perfection. A harmonious blend of flavors; just pure excellence. I never get tired of turning people on to one of my favorite hidden gems in San Diego. The owners are lovely, service is great and the patio is the perfect spot to take a break on a perfect San Diego day.“
“Great restaurant. Relatively quick service (~5 mins for one sandwich). Like someone else mentioned, it smells great as soon as you walk in. Patient and polite service as I needed a few minutes to look over the menu. While large menus can be a bad sign, you can see them making everything fresh to order. I got the Reuben and it had a lot of meat, great bread, great sauerkraut. Definitely will return“
“I enjoyed a late lunch of the basic grilled cheese and a bowl of tomato soup, which both were hot and tasty. Before leaving though, I was eyeballing the 'Flavor of the Month' Cherrie Pie milk shake, but I hate cherries; but the hand scooped vanilla sounded.. lonely; bit when he mentioned gram crackers as the 'crust' I was sold and glad I did. It was a delicious choice for sure!“
“All submarinas are NOT the same. This franchise is exceptional…the quality of bread and sandwich condiments, the staff, the location…I read a review that said the staff truly enjoys their work environment and I realized that was exactly it! Such a positive place - and the food is outstanding!“
“Gone here a couple times, both time for a late lunch. It wasn't busy at all. We ordered at the counter and our sandwiches were ready in about 10mins. First of all, these sandwiches are huge. The bread is perfectly toasted, crunchy outside soft inside. The chipotle sauce is soOo yummy with the cool deli meat as well as the warm carne asada. Definitely one of the better tortas I've tried. They also offer juices, salads, tosti-'s, etc. there is small dining area is available, no public restroom. Good for a quick lunch or to grab a meal to go. Small parking lot shared with other businesses. It seems like they make a specific amount of hot meats and can run out later in the day. (We wanted a couple chicken tortas, but they only had enough meat for one sandwich... we got deli ham instead , and it was just as good!)“
“Gaglione's cheesesteaks are (obviously) the best in San Diego. My mom's from Philly and I've been many times, and I still think Gaglione's makes the best cheesesteak I've ever had. It's a fairly small shop but the vibes are great, you're greeted with smiles and hellos when you walk in and the staff is just awesome. I wish I could remember the name of the gal who took our order (Feb 29 around 1pm?), she was just so sweet and helpful. She even came outside to bring us our food because we're not the brightest apparently and didn't realize we could not hear the orders being yelled out from outside. One of my favorite places to eat in San Diego and I will always recommend it!!“
“Easily one of my favorite sandwich shops around and love that it's a growing chain in southern California. I contacted the San Diego location for catering my staff summit in February 2024. The catering support contact was very helpful and identified opportunity to reduce the cost of my order while optimizing the food provided, as usual it was amazing even being a catering order for the next day. My staff was very happy with all the sandwiches and sides. I highly suggest this for anyone looking for a really good artisan sandwich.“
“Great ambiance, delicious food. I ordered the chef's pesto salad and added the chicken for extra protein. The portion was fairly large, dressing was on the healthier side and yummy. For sure I’ll go back to try the rest of the menu.“
“Been going here for years and the new location made it that much better. Tons of seating and a huge bar. My recommended sandwich is the Cali mist if you can handle a little spice. Devin, Kiana, Danny and Hunter are the best bar tenders IMO but generally the service is always great no matter who you get.“
“If you're getting lunch at the Del Mar Highlands, there are two clean winners - Ike's and Mendocino Farms.Mendo's the place to go for healthy. Perfect balance between filling and light, I never feel weighed down after a meal. Try their Not So Fried or the Chicken Prosciutto - my mom recommends the Quinoa Superfood.“
“I always forget how good this place is for some reason. They knock it out of the park with really tasty, really creative sandwiches and salads. It’s sooo overpriced but it’s a solid treat every once in a while. Note that it is a bit slower than other places in the area, so make sure have about 10 mins to wait for your food after you order. If you have the time, it’s worth it. Also - get the pomegranate mint lemonade. If you’re already paying for the lunch, you won’t regret spending a bit more on that killer lemonade. Highly recommend all around.Dietary restrictions: Excellent gluten-free sandwich bread- not crumbly or dry.“
“Everything i've tried here on multiple visits has been wonderful. The menu changes occasionally and has specialty items that have always been a hit for me. Good quality and solid prices and servings & consistent across locations. It's hard to find a good pesto salad with fresh mozzarella & pasta that isn't overly soft. I'm in love!“
“The cheese shop was absolutely amazing. I ordered the Italian supreme and it was perfect. Very fresh soft bread and the deli meats were delectable, the oils and seasoning really made it great. The service was also amazing even though I just ordered a sandwich and made my way out. Unfortunately my debit card was having issues and they could not have been nicer until we figured it out. Great place and would highly recommend even if you are not in the La Jolla area, it's really worth the trip if you're in the greater San Diego area.“
“This sandwich was very fresh and well made! If you're getting the garden delight, I would recommend adding a sauce to jazz it up, but I would highly recommend this place. The staff is very nice and they have a huge variety of sandwiches! I would definitely go here again and try out their other sandwiches.“
“It's an unassuming shop that has a good variety of banh mis (sandwhiches) among other typical Vietnamese Deli selections. The sandwhiches were pretty good and fairly priced. They definitely hit the spot when you've got that craving! The staff is very friendly, if a little bit sparse. They do work quickly to get yoru order prepared. I liked their selection of banh mis, they've got the classics and few others for the uninitiated. The bread was great, crunchy exterior and soft on the inside. The shop isn't much, but if you're there for a quick bite it's not that much of a factor - cause all you want is that banh mi flavor! Would return to grab another bite!“
“I came here last night for the first time in a long time. I was instantly greeted by the cashier, Tyler A (I hope that's his name, it was written on the receipt lol.) He was so friendly, kind and helpful! He even went out of his way to hand me the bag when it was all ready! Great customer service! I ordered the Baja Beef, spicy Roast Beef and 2 quesadillas. The baja and roast beef were supposed to be "spicy" but they really weren't. However, my family and I still enjoyed them! Their signature sauce is SO GOOD too! I will definitely be back!“
“I had been looking for a new sandwich spot since my favorite one closed down in Chula Vista. My brother invited me here for lunch, he's a regular. I honestly wasn't expecting much because of the location in this little plaza, but boy was I wrong! This place was a 10 out of 10 from the service to the food. It's a family owned establishment, which I love. The young man working behind the counter had a nice smile and was friendly and attentive. His name was Donovan and he had told me that the people who work there are family. You can tell by the way he treated us that he takes pride in his family's business. The sandwich he made me was one of the best sandwiches I have eaten in a long time! I ordered the California sandwich and I'm already wanting to go back to get another one. I highly recommend this spot and definitely will be back for more.“
“Came here for the first time around 1:30 on March 1 Friday. Decided to stop by on my way home from UTC. Easy place to enter from Miramar road. Ordered the Joes Special and Philly with mushrooms. As I entered I was immediately greeted by a nice lady. Super friendly and helpful. Order was made fresh and quickly. She didn't call out my order number when it was ready she actually came out to the table and handed it to me and offered me hot sauce. Overall the food was good and service was great. Will def be back soon. =)“
“I love this place!!I was looking for a place to chill and eat after a long day of work until I stumbled into Ike’s sandwiches located in Sorrento valley! The staff were helpful and kind. I got the Matt Cain with double meat with banana peppers. It was delicious and left me satisfied. This is now my go to place after work.“
“I cheated on my diet for this sandwich & have no regrets. This is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life! I'm super picky about tuna melts bc you never know if it's going to smell fishy but this one is perfect! No weird smell. The staff was also super friendly! I'll definitely be back! Also, that cookie came with it and was delicious!“
“Ordered a hot Pastrami, no lettuce, add mayo, and easy on the peppercinis. It was fabulous. I absolutely love their fresh toasted bread and they don't skimp on the pastrami. We've also had the Italian and the Po'Boy. Both were good, but we're definitely addicted to the Hot Pastrami.“
“******SIX STAR REVIEW!!!!!! Jordan is awesome!!!!!! Jordan possesses perfect customer service skills. Jordan is an exceptionally fast, friendly and exceedingly efficient professional. Oh, and the "Avocado & Quinoa Superfood Ensalada" was super delicious and satisfying!!!!!! Jordan is apex pinnacle top talent!!!!!! Jordan reflects notably upon Mendocino Farms 4S Ranch!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!! VRS "JJ" ("The Gunny")“
“Staff is very friendly and they do a great job! They (Jimmy and one other person but I don't know his name) have even take the time to learn my name so when I walk in to pick up my on-line order they greet me by name and then quickly retrieve my order before I even have to ask for it! Wonderful location! And the food is excellent too!“
“A San Diego classic. The new space has lost some of the charm, but feels much much on trend. Come for great baked goods, good sandwiches, and.... mmm those drinks! It's very busy during lunch and right as school lets out, but the turnaround is quick and the food and bev are worth it. Explore their menu and find your favorite, then explore again and find more.“
“The staff here is truly the best. They are so warm, welcoming, friendly and efficient. I work across the street and eat lunch here multiple times a week. It is rare to find an entire staff that works so well together and treats customers so kindly. The sandwiches are obviously great too but I wanted to give a shout out to the awesome staff. Keep up the stellar work! I'll probably see you tomorrow ;)“
“I love this place! Family mom and pop shop, which I'm glad to support. The staff is always friendly and a versatile menu. From breakfast burritos to French dip sandwiches. I highly recommend their habenero salsa! If your in the neighborhood go check them out.“
“I always love having my breakfast croissant from here! Fresh and delicious. Whenever I work nearby I am excited to come here. The young ladies here are always welcoming and have become friends, my husband buys me sandwiches here and they've gotten to see our babies now! What I love to order: Croissant with Egg, cheese, avocado and Mayo ! Simple and delisshhhh“
“My first time ever trying this place out and i fell in love! I will definitely be coming back here again. The staff are cool and welcoming. The atmosphere is very hip and fun. I enjoy all the scenic walls while waiting for my food. My sandwiches were delicious and really satisfying. Great quality ingredients as well. Well worth the prices!“
“I had no idea these were still around. This place is dope. Split a big foot Peppered Turkey, more than enough to keep me satiated til dinner. The service was smooth and easy, the place was clean and well kept, and the subs were made with quality ingredients - no brown avocados or questionable sprouts here. Will definitely be back.“
“Today, while in the area, I decided to stop in and get my husband and me some lunch. It has been a while since I have been here, and I always forget how much I like it, especially since they now have vegan options.Today, Carla and Blake worked with me to get my order placed and prepared to take home. Carla was patient and helped me decide what to order for myself (my husband's order is always easy!) She was very friendly, and Blake was as well. They worked well together in their space and ensured our order was just as we wanted it.I will try to come here more and suggest if you're looking for something fast, healthy, and tasty, Pita Pit.Vegetarian options: A lot of items are vegetarianDietary restrictions: Gluten-free options availableParking: Huge parking lot. It is shared with other businesses but there is plenty of parking available. If it is at a busy time like lunch or dinner, just expect to drive around a bit.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair ramp nearby.“
“Finally had a chance to check this local deli out. It was delicious. The sweet lady at the counter and the young man who made my sandwich and offered his suggestion were on point! Both were very kind and welcoming. I had planned on getting a wrap, but the Bomb sandwich sounded too good to pass. Of course, it's stacked full and fresh ingredients. The cream cheese works well with this one on sourdough. I only ate half and hope to finish the other half later. The deli is nice and clean and offers chips, various drinks, and salads, too. I def will be back to try more items. They are now closing at 2 PM as the majority of their business is those in the industrial offices in the surrounding area. If you're in the RB area and want a fresh and old-school deli service, give them a try.“
“Food, service, and ambiance are top notch! Food: -Toasted Italian sub everything on it. It was exactly how I wanted it to taste; crunchy on the outside, warm, soft, some spice and a lot of flavor. -Pastrami with the works. So flavorful and good! Service: The kind gentleman at the counter suggested the heated Italian sub and I am so glad he did! Great suggestion ( and he was wearing cool glasses) Ambiance: Located on a corner downtown makes the window watching perfect. The walls are lined with windows, there is an adorable counter to eat at as well as a few tables. The funk music playing gave this place a cool and inviting old school vibe. 90% of the sandwich patrons were in fluorescent work vests eluding that this is the local fave amongst the real people of the city! I highly recommend coming here!“
“Food was nothing short of incredible. Tried the Super Beef and a Buffalo Tender Sub. The beef was super tender, sliced very thin, and piled high. The sauce was reminiscent of a bbq sauce but much lighter with a thinner consistency. Sauce was tangy and slightly sweet and works perfect with the flavor of the beef. The tenders were perfect and stayed crispy even when tossed in buffalo. Portions of both were large and absolutely worth the price. Try the tortellini salad! Customer service was great as well!“
