But, honestly, I chalk up my dissatisfaction to my preference for stronger coffee and more robust flavors. I’d still recommend giving them a shot as I think the overall quality of the service, ambiance, and food is above average. I would go so far to say this babka is an achievement on the levels of the great SF bakeries (Tartine, Jane, b. patisserie). “If there is one positive thing came from the pandemic, it is Philippe Delarue’s ingenious idea to open up a bake shop here in front of his flat. It’s one of my favorite places to invite friends on Saturday or Sunday morning.You can’t go wrong with any of his goods, but my personal favorite is the bread pudding. Delarue will generously add his “adults only” whiskey sauce upon ordering.He is too humble to bring up the story himself, but ask him about his journey here – including stints in Le Mans, Paris, London, and Montreal. Space was no frills and dated but that’s how you know you’re in an established family business. Glad this place is here, wish their products were better.

Parking: Spots were available out front before 9am (free at that time) on a week day but I’ve driven by many times and not been able to find parking.“

“I've come here for over two decades now. I love to come here for the har gow. The best I've had anywhere hands down. The other dumplings are also really good as well as the congee. I wouldn't say the sweet pastries are all that good though. The staff are very efficient but minimal on the charm as is common with these kinds of places.
