“This is my favorite restaurant in California. I’ve had there tasting menus twice, and each time it was a new, miraculous experience. Their food is exquisite, the service is nice, and the ambiance is as expected. It’s a hidden gem in truckee and if you have the time and money I’d highly recommend it. It is worth the price, without a doubt. I had a pine ice dish about 2 years ago as one of the dessert courses and it was like eating the best blue bird powder day ever, with a hint of cozy cabin glow.”

Zano's is great for a couple looking for a good romantic dinner, or a whole family or 5! They have a very accommodating dining area that can handle tons of customers, and their service is impeccable! “I was searching for food that was not crowded, admittedly I was overwhelmed by the weekenders that flock from all over cities that were crammed in the shopping district. I spotted a church building with a small sign that said, cafe open, as I was making my way out of town with haste. Alas, I found exactly what I needed. Score, big time. It is a beautiful, tranquil space, and the sandwich I had, Ban mi (add turkey)...beyond exquisite. The lavender drink concoction was eloquent and refreshing. Go here for a zen delicious af meal and very nice service.”

The place was packed so the service was really slow. There was no one to buss tables and when asked there was some attitude. Tsk-tsk. Smile, even when it hurts!”

“The best part of this restaurant is it's environment and it's dog friendliness. We always go with Ares our JRT and you often see other dogs, on the patio. Food is good too, but I actually like my own cooking of quality meat in general.”

“honestly this may have been the best hospitality I’ve had in a while! My friends and I showed up at 10 am not realizing they closed at 11 and the host/server was kind enough to let us stay. It was 10 of us and only one of her and I think 1 cook as well. The waitress was so kind, she took everyone’s order, she was on top of things all the meanwhile cleaning up the rest of the restaurant. For such a big group everything came out so quick + the portion sizes were 10/10! My friends and I enjoyed it so much and hope to visit Truckee again to come here, but a lot earlier rather than an hour before closing. Shout out to the waitress + cook, we appreciated it so much and wish I would’ve asked for their names so they could get the recognition they deserve. 20/10 recommend!”

“I loved this place! It was really neat to go inside and take a look around. We ate outside, which was perfect for this weather. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. I got the peach salad with grilled chicken, which tasted delicious! The portions were a little smaller than I would have liked for the price, but it was a great portion for a smaller lunch salad. Would definitely recommend going there, especially eating outside and absorbing the atmosphere.”

Then we had prime filet mignon, the fettuccine en rajas and the Alaskan halibut. Lastly we finished with three of their desserts (one was a brûlée, another was a a tart, and another was a fancy anise tasting dessert). Everything was devine with the exception of the halibut. It was good but I can cook my halibut better following my favorite cookbook America's Test Kitchen. I will go back and repeat everything but the fish. Will be interested in trying the 27 oz dry-aged steak next time. For a special occasion, I recommend Manzanita.”

Please give them a try. You won’t be sorry!”

Short hike into the woods with all of Mother Nature’s fall palette in full view. By the time you read this the leaves will have fallen, but you should still go by Alder Creek Adventure Center ASAP!”

“Gourmet pizza! We love coming here whenever we are in town. Family owned business and the owner is a wonderful person. We had the pleasure to meet him 3 winters ago. I am so glad how this place gets more and more popular!!

Taste and ingredients are great. The temperature control on the pizza is on point. Price on root beer is so good! Can’t beat that.
One thing to note, it does take long time to get the pizza, if you are in a rush, you can either call ahead to order or try this place when you have time to enjoy. It took us about 45mins to get our pizza a few weeks ago.

They have indoor and outdoor seating! How relaxing.”

“We were walking down the street, wanting to find a bar for a fun night out. We heard a hip hop song through the doors and a friendly bouncer interacted with us and charmed us in as we walked passed it.

We sat down and the vibes were just right. A hometown bar with fun murals and knickknacks. We sat down and were surprised to hear R&B, Hip Hop, Pop, and Hyphy music. The bouncer turned bartender was a true highlight of the bar and he made us feel oh so welcomed! We ended up staying through a few lull moments and busy moments.

We thought our night was winding down, then a DJ set up and the bar was PACKED! The DJ played to the crowd wonderfully and made the vibes immaculate, EVERYONE was dancing.

To my most pleasant surprise, I got a paneer that was absolutely delicious, paired with equally delicious basmati rice and mango lassi. They were incredibly kind and gracious, and the food was fantastic. All of the food containers were absolutely filled to the brim, so I have leftovers for tomorrow. The medium spicy was more of a medium-hot spicy, but paired with the rice and the lassi it was perfect. Highly recommend!!”

“What a delicious find! When other restaurants we no longer seating, we went here and what a gem! Their chicken satay was flavourful and fresh. Fried spring rolls were crunchy and delicious. The drunken noodles were the perfect amount of spicy - some good heat, and you can't stop eating them.

“I don't normally write reviews, but I had to this time. The Truckee food scene is modest at best. Most restaurants range from bad to mediocre, with a few notable exceptions, such as The Drunken Monkey and Moody's. Last year I would have included the Dining Room at Village Lodge in the "perfectly fine" category.But my wife and I went to dinner there last night (Jan 2024), and it was immediately clear that something had changed. The service was attentive and the menu was inspired. Andrew did a great job as our waiter. Before even ordering, I said to my wife that they must have a new chef, and indeed they do! It's made all the difference.I ordered the duck, my wife had the halibut, and we shared the steak tartare. It was all delicious. We paired it with a French Sancerre for an impeccable meal. Truly fine dining at a reasonable (by Tahoe standards) price.I should note that we were skiing earlier that day, and prior to dinner had a wonderful time getting to know some of the staff at the bar. We spent the night upstairs at the lodge (cute room), and the next morning had an equally good breakfast and equally good service from Bella. Also, they've put in a coffee bar right by the fireplace between the bar and the dining area. It's a nice place to warm up after a few runs.Highly recommended and worth the short drive up from Truckee.”

“I really love this McDonald’s location—I come here several times a week. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and service is consistently fast. They recently improved the parking lot too, replacing the asphalt in some areas, which made a big difference. Overall, it’s a clean, convenient spot with great customer service.
