I highly recommend getting the gumbo as a side. I've been telling all of my coworkers about this place. They tried it and they loved it. You won't be disappointed if you do.”

“We just had our anniversary dinner here. How does this restaurant not have a Michelin star? Some of the most incredible food we have ever had and it’s here in Truckee! We have been most disappointed with the truckee food scene especially for what it costs up here, but Trokay is absolutely worth the hype, expense, and your time. The flavors of every course were put together masterfully. I just wish we had gotten it together enough to come here sooner, what a gem to have in town. I hope anyone that is a foodie or just wants to be blown away by some amazing food/ flavors makes it to this restaurant. You will be impressed! The owners are amazing, just look at those resumes, and the service was wonderful. Definitely will be coming back!”

“honestly this may have been the best hospitality I’ve had in a while! My friends and I showed up at 10 am not realizing they closed at 11 and the host/server was kind enough to let us stay. It was 10 of us and only one of her and I think 1 cook as well. The waitress was so kind, she took everyone’s order, she was on top of things all the meanwhile cleaning up the rest of the restaurant. For such a big group everything came out so quick + the portion sizes were 10/10! My friends and I enjoyed it so much and hope to visit Truckee again to come here, but a lot earlier rather than an hour before closing. Shout out to the waitress + cook, we appreciated it so much and wish I would’ve asked for their names so they could get the recognition they deserve. 20/10 recommend!”

“The pizza was way better than I expected, I'm a Philly girl so my expectations were low but they hit it out of the park on food.
The place was packed so the service was really slow. There was no one to buss tables and when asked there was some attitude. Tsk-tsk. Smile, even when it hurts!”

“My husband and I went for dinner and were so surprised at the quality of the drinks and food. Each item we had was delicious. We had the soup ( cream cauliflower) , and the basic salad . It was full of veggies and slivered almonds as well as pickled jicama. I had the 10 ounce filet which was seasoned beautifully and done just right over a bed of spinach and potatoes. It was surrounded by a fabulous sauce of mushrooms. My husband had the pork paparadelle that had spinach noodles, onions, and tomatoes in the sauce. It was so savory. To top it off, we shared a delicious carrot cake that was just the right sweetness. I forgot to mention the martini was perfect and the nonalcoholic drink that was made for me was the best I’ve ever had!! It was a fantastic meal!”

“The best part of this restaurant is it's environment and it's dog friendliness. We always go with Ares our JRT and you often see other dogs, on the patio. Food is good too, but I actually like my own cooking of quality meat in general.”

“I loved this place! It was really neat to go inside and take a look around. We ate outside, which was perfect for this weather. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. I got the peach salad with grilled chicken, which tasted delicious! The portions were a little smaller than I would have liked for the price, but it was a great portion for a smaller lunch salad. Would definitely recommend going there, especially eating outside and absorbing the atmosphere.”

I tried out a traditional breakfast from here and the eggs were the tastiest I’ve ever had. Same goes with the potatoes. Inside, it’s a little cramped, but the food is worth it.”

I spotted a church building with a small sign that said, cafe open, as I was making my way out of town with haste. Alas, I found exactly what I needed. Score, big time. It is a beautiful, tranquil space, and the sandwich I had, Ban mi (add turkey)...beyond exquisite. The lavender drink concoction was eloquent and refreshing. Go here for a zen delicious af meal and very nice service.”

“Gourmet pizza! We love coming here whenever we are in town. Family owned business and the owner is a wonderful person. We had the pleasure to meet him 3 winters ago. I am so glad how this place gets more and more popular!!

Taste and ingredients are great. The temperature control on the pizza is on point. Price on root beer is so good! Can’t beat that.
One thing to note, it does take long time to get the pizza, if you are in a rush, you can either call ahead to order or try this place when you have time to enjoy. It took us about 45mins to get our pizza a few weeks ago.

They have indoor and outdoor seating! How relaxing.”

Maybe get more involved with patrons and tell their story of the place and what brought them to work there. Engage more and more welcoming. I would come back again for a second try.”

“We were walking down the street, wanting to find a bar for a fun night out. We heard a hip hop song through the doors and a friendly bouncer interacted with us and charmed us in as we walked passed it.

We sat down and the vibes were just right. A hometown bar with fun murals and knickknacks. We sat down and were surprised to hear R&B, Hip Hop, Pop, and Hyphy music. The bouncer turned bartender was a true highlight of the bar and he made us feel oh so welcomed! We ended up staying through a few lull moments and busy moments.

We thought our night was winding down, then a DJ set up and the bar was PACKED! The DJ played to the crowd wonderfully and made the vibes immaculate, EVERYONE was dancing.

Most restaurants range from bad to mediocre, with a few notable exceptions, such as The Drunken Monkey and Moody's. Last year I would have included the Dining Room at Village Lodge in the "perfectly fine" category.But my wife and I went to dinner there last night (Jan 2024), and it was immediately clear that something had changed. The service was attentive and the menu was inspired. Andrew did a great job as our waiter. Before even ordering, I said to my wife that they must have a new chef, and indeed they do! It's made all the difference.I ordered the duck, my wife had the halibut, and we shared the steak tartare. It was all delicious. We paired it with a French Sancerre for an impeccable meal. Truly fine dining at a reasonable (by Tahoe standards) price.I should note that we were skiing earlier that day, and prior to dinner had a wonderful time getting to know some of the staff at the bar. We spent the night upstairs at the lodge (cute room), and the next morning had an equally good breakfast and equally good service from Bella. Also, they've put in a coffee bar right by the fireplace between the bar and the dining area. It's a nice place to warm up after a few runs.Highly recommended and worth the short drive up from Truckee.”

“What a delicious find! When other restaurants we no longer seating, we went here and what a gem! Their chicken satay was flavourful and fresh. Fried spring rolls were crunchy and delicious. The drunken noodles were the perfect amount of spicy - some good heat, and you can't stop eating them.

“I really love this McDonald’s location—I come here several times a week. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and service is consistently fast. They recently improved the parking lot too, replacing the asphalt in some areas, which made a big difference. Overall, it’s a clean, convenient spot with great customer service.
