“My wife and I both had the New York breakfast bagel here and the bagels had a good bite and great flavor. Just the perfect bagel and the egg, cheese, and sausage rounded out the perfect sandwich. A great local bagel place, definitely will be back!“
“I was there a Saturday morning and there was only one person working there. When I arrived it was just me and another person ordering. Then it was getting busy because the orders were large per order. Will need to go again to try their other items.I bought their Mexican hot chocolate, horchata iced and two empanadas; the green salsa and molé sauce. Empanadas were okay and mild for their spicy flavor. The Mexican hot chocolate was very good! Iced Horchata tasted like it had a shot of coffee; I’m not a fan of that type of coffee.Parking: It’s located on a strip so the parking is limited.“

“We stumbled upon an incredible pizza company at Off Color Brewing. Four large squares of pizza, mix and match, boasting a variety of flavors that left us super impressed. As newcomers to the area from the Pacific Northwest, we've been eager to explore different styles of pizza, including deep dish and more. This particular pizza experience stood out as one of the best we've encountered so far! Not only is it reasonably priced, but the fun and inventive flavors, like cacio e pepper, added an exciting twist we hadn't tried before. The leftover slices even made for a perfect Sunday breakfast. We can't recommend it enough!“

“Love Kasama! I’ve been back each time I visit the city and the breakfast is banging. I know the sandwich + hash-brown is iconic and a must try but their other food is equally as delicious. Would highly recommend ordering online to skip the line if you don’t plan to eat inside.“

“Just incredible. There are no words for how impressive this bakery is. The owner is an absolute angel, the desserts are insanely delicious and the aesthetic is perfect. This is my go to for any special occasions. I even have non vegan friends/family that request Pie Pie for their birthdays. I cannot recommend supporting this business enough. My personal favorite flavors are banana split, chocolate strawberry, and nutter butter.“

“Great small bakery. The options may be limited but the quality is high. Follow their Instagram to keep a close eye on their inventory as I hear they typically sell out quick (only so much product can be made for a day's sales).I guess they are known for their Tahini cookies. I've had several items from their menu and I would recommend fulfill your sweet tooth here.First thing I ate were the peanut butter cookies, and boy did it have peanut butter in it - grab a drink to help wash it down! The bakery takes pride in their baked goods and it is well worth their hard work.“

“Bang Bang has been a neighborhood favorite of mine for years! Tastes like it's made with love. The biscuits, the pies, the sides, you can't go wrong! I usually get a scratch biscuit with sweet, a side salad or side of candied bacon, and a slice of pie to go :) Delicious! Great patio space for the summer!“

“Wow. The final restaurant in our food tour. What a way to end. My wife and I were given a gift certificate from our daughter and husband when they heard we were going to Chicago. What a fantastic choice. The restaurant has a wonderful vibe with both inside and outside dining options. The menu is made up of tasting portions so feel free to explore. The complexities of textures and flavors that we got from these dishes were spectacular. We started with chickpea fritters, which was the perfect melding of the chili heat and coolness from the cucumber yogurt. We also got the goat empanadas which were screaming with flavor. We added to that the roasted pig face which was incredibly flavorful. The star of the show was the crispy short rib. It was a mouthgasm. Our dessert of hazelnut praline sundae was the perfect way to end this culinary excursion with its abundance of flavors.“

“I was parking and saw a crowd of people hovering around a storefront like they were waiting for doors to open for the Nordstrom Semi Annual Sale! Thus, I had to walk over and see what all the fuss was about. Tons of people were waiting outside in the cold for pastries. I looked at the menu on the window and noticed all the pastries are gluten free and they have a large selection of vegan options! There were so many vegan options that I bared the cold trying to make a decision. I settled on the vegan brownie. The staff were all friendly and processed orders quickly. While walking, I tasted a piece of the vegan brownie. It was simply, AMAZING! I can’t wait to go back and try other vegan pastry options.“

“Always incredible - one of the best breakfast sandwiches in the city (I get the pablano/veggie and add sausage ? - which was a staff suggestion). Everyone who works there is friendly and engaging! If they had a yearbook, I would write, "have a cool summer - don't ever change".“

“My first time trying this place was for lunch today and it was such a good experience! The host was very welcoming and kind, and so was my server. I tried a blueberry bourbon drink that was amazing, and had a bowl of the chili mac that was even better. I had a lovely time and can’t wait to come back!“

“This restaurant has a very cozy vibe. Keep in mind it's a smaller restaurant that has a good crowd, so finding a place to sit can be hard during rush hour. The workers are all incredibly kind. I would highly recommend getting their breakfast sandwich, it is so so so amazing. And of course nothing says "breakfast" quite like a slice of chocolate cake from The Bear.“

“Love their pastries and desserts. They sometimes have other things like dim sum and rice cakes. The service is fine, like other typical Asian spots. The ambiance is a small bakery that is mostly boarded up inside. They are cash only so please prepare. There are other bakeries nearby that will take card if you choose to go elsewhere.“

“We came in on a Saturday afternoon. There was no line. We ordered 4 slices: cheese, veggie, supreme, and pepperoni, a cup of their chicken tortellini soup, a cannoli, and a custard filled pastry. The chicken tortellini soup was amazing. It tasted like some homemade chicken noodle soup. The supreme pizza was very flavorful. I appreciated that it had the right amount of sausage. The veggie pizza was delicious, it was nice and crispy and the veggies were not soggy. The cheese pizza was good too. While we waited for our pizza to be warmed we noticed the line was long. By the time we finished our food in their outside patio, the line was out the door. I would definitely come back to try the chicken parm.“

“Super fun joint. A lot of good vibes and reasons to hang around. The food, overall, was tasty, but the pizza left some to be desired. You can tell they put great care and detail into every decision. The pizza just didn't do it for me. Could've been the bold claim of "best cheese pizza in Chicago." I appreciate the bravado, but unfortunately, it came with little fanfare.“

“Love the handy drive-thru. Also love the wheat free options like chocolate chip cookies, biscuit that can substitute some for bread on sandwiches, and other pastries. Lots of pastries. LOVE the scones. Vegetarian options are tasty. Had the Rubén sandwich yesterday and it was awesome. Also love the mission of the facility. Staffed by residents of Misericordia's homes. Decent prices and great taste with a cause!!“

“This is a nice little bakery spot. Everyone there was nice and helped us through our decisions in what to get. The double chocolate chip cookie is good but the stars of this place are the lemon cookie and the lemon cake. I might be biased because I am a fan of lemon, but those two items are top tier amazing. I will give the cookie a slight edge over the cake but you cannot go wrong with either one. Check this place out if you haven't already.“

“Yum! Love a bao place. I think everything we got here was good. Cute atmosphere. Lots of natural textures and fun art. You place your order on the one side and can go through to the other to sit and eat. Got a London Fog Tea Latte too, but it wasn't the strong pick-me-up I needed. If you don't prefer strong teas, this might be a nice one to try.“

“The owner - Tim - was so friendly. I stopped in for a pastry & he asked if I wanted any coffee to which I explain I don’t drink coffee at all! He asked why & explained it wasn’t really my taste in general nor did I drink caffeine. He then proceeded to make me a decaf charlatte on the house simply to show me how amazing coffee can taste. I’ve purchased it since ;) 11/10 recommend this place!!“

“All the time we stopped by and shopped here, we were not disappointed, and it's been quite a few times. My family like this place every time they stop by. Their barbecue duck and pork are always fresh, and their vietnamese sandwiches are some of the best one on the area.“
“Stopped by today with a few friends and split a handful of thing.I only have 5 stars because 15 stars wasn’t an option.I’ve eaten many pastries in my life, and I must say that their cheddar scallion biscuit might be the best one gluten items I’ve ever had. My lord. My friends and I are leaving our church to praise at the alter of that delicious treat. Then came the banana bread. I used to tell my mom that hers was the best, but that’s now a lie. loved their take on banana bread. While slightly drier than some I’ve had, I thought the overall composition and flavor of it was excellent. A must try.Next, they currently have an onion and Gruyère danish….. I don’t believe I telling people how to live their lives, but if you aren’t eating that daily, your life is incomplete and full of sorrow. Go there now. Eat it. You’re welcome. Finally came the croissants. We tried the pb and chocolate and the ham and cheese. I could definitely appreciate the flavor, but they were crispier than what I typically preference. Still, my friend who likes them that way thought it was divine.Ok. Go to Aya now.“

“Unreal! We accidentally fell upon this place this morning and upon entering my jaw dropped and mouth started watering instantly. We ordered a big bag full of both savory and sweet pastries and we ate everything while making lots of mmmmmm sounds throughout. The coffee is great too. We are just visiting Chicago and leave tomorrow but are planning on dropping by again for one more visit before taking off back to Kentucky. All of the pastries and goodies are the perfect blend of flaky and crunchy and gooey and soft and all the right places with a different taste in every bite! Yuummmmmmm....“

“This place has good treats that will satisfy your sweet tooth. We picked up a couple different things that were decent and one that was awesome! The Banana Carmel Cabinet pudding I can't say enough good about! It's a very moist and tasty cupcake/bread pudding combination essentially. It's a yellow cake with banana slices, banana pudding, and caramel topping that is pretty epic! The cookie we got was good, one dessert magic cookie bar that good, a lemon bar that was ok...I didn't care for it but my wife thought it was ok, and the banana Carmel cabinet pudding was awesome. Give them a try and I think you'll find something that you like for sure...and they are very very nice when it comes to customer service so that's good a big plus.“

“I couldn’t visit Chicago without visiting Fab Cakes! This cafe is spacious and perfect for work or study with ample seating, outlets, calming music and just the right amount of white noise. They have a full menu that’s affordable and delicious. You can’t go wrong with any sweet or savory pick, and everything is made in-house. As if that wasn’t enough, the owner and employees are beyond sweet and there’s adorable hand-drawn art. No Apple Pay here, but other payments (cash, card) accepted. Thank you for a wonderful stay! I got the Breakfast Wrap, YUM, and a cinnamon pastry— one of the best pastries I’ve ever had!!“

“The plating at Sweet Moon is so exquisite that I imagine a chef using a pair of tweezers to meticulously place each item to be displayed on the dish. My mother and I talk for at least two minutes about the layout and design of the plated food before diving in and being even more amazed by the flavor combinations. My favorite menu item is the Merengue Roulette, a gluten-free merengue with mascarpone pistachio cream, raspberry jam, baked almond, and whole pistachios. For such well-crafted and well-balanced dishes, the wait time is not long, usually not exceeding 10 minutes. Although the place is typically always filled with people all customers are respectful of the noise level and it is quiet and serene. Great place to work or catch up with a friend!“

“I went there craving for something sweet after 6 PM on Friday. Ordered a chocolate brioche, a coconut chocolate chip caramel cookie and a chocolate cookie. Everything seemed to be freshly baked, unexpectedly heavy, and full of filling, so it took the two of us three days to consume this good stuff. And I never had an issue with a lack of appetite.I personally prefer less sweet options, but these cookies are not as sweet as traditional American staples, and I appreciate that. If you want a cookie so packed with stuff it becomes a bit overpowering, the coconut one is a good choice. Not complaining though. It fed the two of us.Brioche was a bit too thick for my taste, but it was also good. The service that I experienced is what I assume to be typical for Chicago: slightly poker-faced and nonchalant but not rude or anything like that.I would give this bakery another try for the items that I haven’t eaten yet.“

“OH MY GOD THIS PLACE MAKES HEAVEN. My favorites: - any of the savory meat croissants - egg sandwich - any of the meat strombolis - salted caramel donut - gingersnap molasses cookie - twice-baked almond croissant - vegan dark chocolate banana bread with pecans - Two falls ago there was this amazing apple cider bearclaw donut thing. I haven't seen it since in the pastry case, but I can still taste its awesomeness in my mouth and hope it will one day return. Everything here is so moist and magical. For me, what sets Mindy's Bakery apart from other bakeries, and makes it clear why Mindy won the Beard award for Outstanding Chef in the US, is that Mindy and crew are always working to improve their craft, always using quality ingredients and making better versions of things all the time and I respect this so much. Also, when you come in through the door, you can see everyone behind the counter, working hard, baking during open hours, and helping you pick things out of the big case in front. They are awesome. If you're from out of town, know there's rarely a line out the door on Wed, Thurs or Fri, but Sat and Sun are busy, so do what I do and bring your kindle or paper to read while you wait in line. It is always worth the wait.“

“Of all the places I've tried around the city, Taste of Colombia has the best coffee anywhere in Chicago. My favorite part though is the wonderful people who work there! I feel super fortunate to have them just two blocks from my house. Make sure to give them a try!How cool this place is! They have the best coffee and desserts in all of Chicago, but the best thing is the people who work there. Many thanks to Naima, Toni and Alejandra. “The service was good! They were nice and very helpful with guiding you where drinks, napkins, and utensils were without you asking. It was helpful. I ordered a criossant, carrot cake, and a coffee. Criossant was on the crunchy side inside and out. If you like that then that's it, but for me, I prefer a crunchy from outside and soft on inside, but not bad. Drink was a vanilla latte, and it was good because it was not too sweet. The carrot cake, the presentation was nice! Taste of the cake could've been better, but the cream of the cake made it worth having! Lastly, I want to say this definitely is a great spot for a date quiet enough to talk without too loud and music level perfect! :) I'd return to try other pastries and drinks next time!“

“I chose to venture to Ground Up Coffee & Bites based off one of my local free s’s recommendations and I was not disappointed! They have seating both along the window and at the coffee bar, it was the perfect temperature inside, they have free WiFi for customers, and I always appreciate a healthy looking coffee shop plant. The cashier let me know that the three different sizes have different amounts of espresso; small has 1.5 shots, medium (16oz) has 2 shots, and large has 3 shots. For the espresso, I recommend ordering it with Half-Light so that you get the light roasted espresso beans. It makes a smooth and balanced hot oat milk latte that you’re sure to enjoy when it’s cold outside, and it was my perfect companion for my chilly walk back. The Half-Light is their Pure Gold Espresso Roast; an inviting front, smooth mouthfeel, with a subtle zesty finish to seal the deal. A broad, balanced, and deep cup with a rich, nut-milk body and riesling acidity. Base tasting notes of black cherry-chocolate mousse are complemented with honey and almond for a blancmange finish. You can also just simply order any espresso-based drink with the light roast and the staff will know what you are looking for. It’s a little extra for oat milk and the light roast, but it’s worth it.The barista Osama was hilarious and made a perfectly balanced oat latte. He truly made me feel welcome and seemed so genuinely grateful that I chose to purchase today’s coffee there; his hospitality makes me want to return again and again. The theme is black and shiny gold, being the colors the walls are painted to the custom retail bags. I enjoyed the motivation printed on the back side of the retail coffee bag displayed, which read:Remember why.Why you filled your tank on the way home. Why you picked your outfit and prepared lunch the night before.Remember why.Your why is an unparalleled standard and how you go about your pursuit should be no different.Rise & Grind's why is how you fuel yours.Truly crafted for purpose.A lively beginning, peppy core, and natural urbane demeanor.Just like you.“

“How have I passed by this place so many times and never tried it? I got to know about this bakery through a customer who gave us a box of danishes and they were so good that I had to find out where he got them from. Lo and behold, it is from Schlegel’s and I pass by them pretty regularly. Now, I have stopped by around 4 times and each time I am very pleasantly surprised by their fresh and delicious pastries. They also do Paczkis around Fat Tuesday and they are so good. Sad I just found out about them but glad I did.“
