“Food is really good, I've ordered many times from them but my last order included an $8.25 fee for carry out supplies. They charge a percent of the entire bill. No where in the check out process do they tell you this. This seems excessive for 6 utensil packs and 5 takeout containers. Many other BBQ places with similar price points do not charge this fee. If you are going to charge extra fees be up front about it.“

“Jack Stack was my first KC bbq experience 16 years ago, and continues to be my favorite! They introduced me to burnt ends and they were amazing again. I recommend the beef burnt ends but imagine the pork are great as well. We also had the crown prime which is amazing. It is a $16 up charge, but worth every penny. It is so tender and flavorful. I've never seen anything like it at any other barbecue restaurant.The baked beans, Brussels sprouts appetizer and homemade dressings are amazing sides to the bbq that is as good as it gets.“

“I was looking for something different and the brisket Rangoon caught my eye on line and brought me in. The thought of bbq thai fusion was intriguing. I was greeted immediately but was on my own so opted to sit at the bar. The bartender was very knowledgeable about the menu, the food and the business. I told her I had come in for the rangoon and told her I didn’t want straight Thai or straight BBQ but to pick anything she would recommend. I told her I have a high heat tolerance, no weird food allergies and like just about everything. She chose the red curry burnt ends with steamed rice. The manager joined us and we all had great conversation about the food, food in general and their sister restaurant Muni in the River Market. Food, service, presentation and atmosphere were all fantastic. All of the recommendations were spot on. I look forward to my next opportunity.“

I had some green beans son had some of the huge famous beer battered potato wedges. Hot, fresh, tasty for $11.99. Both of us took decent amount home as well. “Was in town visiting and I heard good things about Gates back in Chicago, so I had to try them out. Stoped in before heading to the Saints vs Chiefs game. Ordered the turkey on a bun w/fries and lemonade. The turkey was good, the fries were fresh out the grease, but they don’t season the fries, you have to salt them yourself. The total was like $20 so a bit pricey. The sauce has a sweet but spicy taste to it.“

“I had low expectations for this joint as it was recommended to me by a co-worker with pretty bad taste. I tried it anyways and boy was I surprised. This was the best pulled pork I've had and I've lived in KC long enough to try most all of the BBQ.

“Lord have mercy folks. When I tell yall this place is off the chain, believe me. From the time I arrived I met the owner Mr. Steve Zarda & he greeted me and treated me like a life-long friend of his. That alone made my day as a Trucker bcuz sometimes we get treated like dirt out here. We talked outside as I was about to come in & he started walking with me as I told him I was from Big D Dallas and I was stopping by to check this place out. Not knowing i was walking & talking with the owner of Zarda the whole time. He allowed me to tell him how I was sitting n my big truck checking out the reviews of this place & the reviews were great. He kindly smiled and said, Hi, my name is Steve Zarda and I'm the owner. I was blown away folks bcuz he was outside washing the pad around the drive thru & the back door. Now I'm really, really impressed with him as a man & his work ethics as mine. Well we proceeded inside & it was very, very clean, nicely decorated, a pleasant, comfortable atmosphere to be in. Mr. Zarda introduced me to his entire staff which were some of the nicest, coolest, professional young people I've seen n a long time on a job folks. Nobody was texting & half ignoring me as a customer. They were all so nice, knowledgeable of the menu and anxious to help me. That made my day all the way. Mr. Zarda said since this is your first time here I'm going to take care of U. And lord knows he did just that folks. They made sure I was totally and completely happy, full & complete. Lol.. I couldn't eat all that food but I definitely took my to go bag like a champ. The food was to die for folks, the ribs were smoked perfectly & falling off the bone, all the 3 different beans i tried were unbelievable to the taste buds, the onion rings were fried to perfection with a light crunch & the beef & pork burnt ends were just right, they melted n yo mouth with a edge of crunchyness. All I can say is this folks, this is truly, truly my new found BBQ place in Lenexa, KS. Whenever I'm trucking thru here. Just to know I have a place to stop away from home & I'm treated like a dear friend Instead of a customer by the owner & all his staff from front to back, hell that alone is worth my time, money & support folks. I'm asking all my friends, family members, my biker community and all my truckers who come thru Kansas, please stop here & check them out folks. You'll be glad u did & you'll thank me later. “Update 6 years later. 2025. Still great food/atmosphere/and service. Got the same plate. Ribs are so damn good. Sausage great. Brisket is good, but o prefer thicker slices. Shaved brisket you lose a lot the juicy fat I look for it a brisket. This great for a sandwich but on a plate I prefer thicker slices. But still great flavor. Great smoke ring. Glad Joe's is still going great!!
Not sure why they dont advertise as Joe's BBQ. But either my first experience was a good experience. Ribs, brisket. And sausage. Bbq beans. Everything was great I like their sauces the traditional has that perfect balance of sweet and spice. Their spicy sauce hits ya a couple minutes later. Love that. But once again a perfect balance, nothing to overpowering. I'll be back. The restraunt has a great atmosphere good music. I'll be back next time I am in town.“

“We arrived at LC’s at 820 pm while traveling through on 435 and these portions are huge I had the burnt end beef tips huge portion! My husband had the beef bbq sandwich again huge double decker sandwich. Our daughter had the turkey bbq sandwich. We also had fries coleslaw and fried mushrooms. Needless to say we had a second meal in leftovers. Very friendly staff even while they were busy remained positive and engaged with the customers.
