“This place has been home for many years, 15 to be exact. Their food stays consistent and delicious always. I moved to Jersey but still no other Chinese restaurant can compare to here, that is why I still come the distance. That should tell you all, support their local business you won’t regret it !“

“This location used to host the China Chef restaurant back in the 60's/80's, a really nice slightly upscale Chinese restaurant. My first taste of Asian American cuisine. Unfortunately the China Chef is long gone.
J.J. Garden which now occupies this location makes some of the tastiest Chinese American dishes that I've had the pleasure to enjoy in a long time. Their Fried rice dishes are outstanding. Made on demand, not bulk prepared. Now that's the way it's supposed to be! Their Beef with Broccoli is perfect, with just tender broccoli and perfectly cooked beef.
I'll cut this review short here, and just say that if you like properly prepared Chinese American food JJ Garden is worth the trip.
BTW pricing is reasonable, not cheap but also not expensive.“

“I was absolutely starving and this place saved me! The prices are very affordable and the portions match those prices. I got a medium fish ball rice roll bowl (oyster sauce flavor). I got all the sauces on it, per recommendation of the cashier.
Spicy, sweet, and savory all at once. I’m usually not a fan of fish balls but these swayed me.
As a native New Yorker I am weary of viral restaurants but this one is WORTH THE HYPE. I forgot to take a before picture but I definitely have the after! Delicious.“

“The soft shell crab with tomato and egg sauce was easily one of my favorite dishes I’ve had recently! The crab was perfectly crispy, and the rich, silky tomato egg sauce worked so well with it. The portion was surprisingly generous too, with four whole soft shell crabs. The beef stew was tender with a nice kick of spice, and the salted egg yolk shumai was another pleasant surprise. The grilled fish was well seasoned, tender, and not fishy at all. The space has a cozy, slightly moody vibe that works well for a date night. Portions were generous overall, and we ended up taking some leftovers home. I’d happily come back just for the soft shell crab!“

“Really enjoyed our meal at CHI Restaurant & Bar! We tried the cucumber salad, spring roll trio, black garlic octopus, truffle beef tenderloin, mashed eggplant with peppers, and stir-fried cabbage with pork. The crispy cereal prawns with golden egg silk were a highlight—a fun combination of shrimp and crunchy toppings.
Save room for dessert! The milk tea cloud cake was adorable, and the raspberry lychee tart topped with colorful macarons was almost too cute to eat. A lovely spot to share several dishes with friends!“

“Spicy Village was a wonderful place to have a Christmas meal! Actually, I'd like to rename it "Spicy Cozy Village" if a spicy environment can also be cozy! To start with, they were very gracious by accepting a reservation for 8 people at 6:00. Then they came outside and took our order even before we sat down and so the food was nearly ready by the time we had taken our coats off! The festivities kicked off with a plate of crispy peanuts, which ended up being the chosen appetizer, main course, and dessert for the little guy in our party. We then progressed to delicious dumplings, sesame chicken, spicy lamb huimei, and other delectable specialties! What was so amazing about the experience is that despite packing lots of people into a relatively small square foot area, it did not feel claustrophobic at all; rather it was comfortable and cozy, like sitting at a big table for a family meal at your house (even if it was take-out!!). Overall, Spicy Village was a terrific place for Christmas dinner - and I'm strongly considering coming back here for the 8 days of Hanukkah too!“

“Local favorite. Can’t go wrong. It’s not cheap, but worth it. I’d pass on the scallion pancakes. They barely have scallion or scallion flavor. But my main gripe is please hire competent behind the POS. Why am I asking 2 and 3 times if an order was received? Why are you answering “hello?” Instead of Handpulled Noodle? And why are you saying the restaurant is on 148th? Lol it’s in on Broadway between 148th and 149th. Just a very bizarre experience on a Friday night.“

“I’ve been wanting to try this place for awhile. I finally went on a Saturday afternoon with a buddy and we were blown away. To clarify, the entrance is NOT the 2 Bridge Mall; if you turn around you’ll see the other mall across the street but it’s boarded up. You have to go to the side entrance. You’ll see a piece of paper on a door that says east Broadway mall side entrance (I took a picture).
Once you go inside there’s a security guard at a wooden podium. To the right of him is a set of stairs and once you go down to the basement you can find it. I think we made a right turn and then it’s to the right lol. I don’t remember exactly but it’s down there I promise. *Pro Tip: bring cash unless you feel like paying a $4.75 ATM fee.
We each got an order of 6 steamed buns for $5.50. These things are huge and loaded with meat and flavor. Absolutely delicious. Heaven. They’re so good you don’t even need to dip it in the sauce. My only regret is not buying an extra order for later. $5.50 for 6 is great.“

“Really yummy polo BBQ pork buns at pretty decent prices!! Easily one of the best I’ve ever had, with that beautifully sweet, crispy topping and soft, fluffy bun.
But damnnn, the pork filling was practically 90% fat…. Definitely the fattiest BBQ pork bun I’ve ever eaten, which was a bit disappointing considering how good everything else was.
Still worth trying, but I do wish there was a better balance of meat and fat!“

Fish was solid but a little too heavy on the batter to fish ratio. Eggplant was simple but good. The silken tofu was really solid texturally - might’ve been the standout dish for our meal.“

Second time the service was great and I chatted with Su who was very friendly and she gave me a lot of recommendations for other spots to check out in NYC. “I was there at Jian Nan Syosset, Long Island. Everything went great!! But, those took the orders needed to be more educated to understand each dishes. We were a fairly larger group than standard party size. Some dished were small and some dim sum served with small quantities, like 3 or 4. Those who order for the large group, should give suggestion to order multiple orders for the same dish. So, each one in the group can have at least one.“

“Really enjoy this place. Food comes out fast, and it's always fresh and spicy, if you like a kick, this is a solid spot for it.
Only gripe: white rice costs extra. Come on, it's rice! Docking one point for that alone.

“I went there during the rush hour (7pm dinner time) but even still i was greeted and welcomed. I ordered the chicken steamed dumplings and general tso chicken. The dumplings with the sauce on the side tasted divine and the chicken was delicious. Nothing to complain at all everything was good.“

“Got to enjoy the exceptional tasting menu just two days after they opened. The inventiveness at work here is matched by the execution. While the cuisine is much different, the sheer delight of it reminded me of my first time years ago at Charlie Trotter's. We went back the next day just to sit at the bar after a show and enjoy the unusual, and unusually good, wine-based cocktails.
July 2026 update: We recently returned and once again enjoyed an exceptional meal via their tasting menu.“

“This is a very local restaurant.
It doesn't have fancy decor, nor does it serve mind-blowing dishes with flavors you can't find anywhere else.
However, their food is very wholesome and down-to-earth, without the heavy oils or excessive salt used to aggressively hook a customer's palate.
The prices are also very affordable—I imagine people working nearby frequent this place often.
I'm a delivery truck driver, and whenever I pass through this area, I make sure to stop by.
The elderly owner is Taiwanese and extremely kind, and they also employ some Spanish staff. The overall work atmosphere is wonderful, and I'm certain the owner treats them very well. Dining here gives you a sense of peace that you just can't find anywhere else.
You shouldn't go out of your way just to eat here, but if you happen to be passing by, you definitely have to drop in and check it out.“

“By Antidote was an absolute treat! We got the Century Egg w/ Burrata Cheese, Tea-Smoked Duck Fried Rice, Crab Tofu, Crab & Pork Soup Dumplings, Green Peppercorn Fish Stew, Mapo Tofu, and Spicy Cumin Lamb.
The first three were easily my favorite dishes, although I feel like the Crab Tofu could use a bit more flavor. The Green Peppercorn Fish Stew was yum but not amazing in my opinion. The Mapo Tofu and Spicy Cumin Lamb were tasty but definitely way too spicy for me lol.
This spot is a must-go for great Chinese fusion cuisine.“

“After years, congee village is still the best restaurant in the Chinatown area. Authentic and made-to-order food, very large portion (and relatively clean comparing to other Chinatown restaurants) You can tell dishes are made in house with top tier ingredients.
We don’t come here often, like twice pee year but since 10 years ago while the taste is consistent over years.“

“I highly recommend their famous pork spicy appetizer. It was our 4th times in this place. I would say their meat is high quality because you can tell from the flavor itself. This is our couples favorite Sichuan place. Tonight, we tried SeaBass Mala it was delicious but too spicy but we’ve finish it 😄😛😋“
