Nice spot, tonight we had the beet/fennel & feta salad, soft shell crab & pesto pasta. All were excellent! Topping it off with TIRAMISU! One of the best drop in spots in Richmond when VCU is out of session.
Not an extensive menu, but well prepared and oh so good. Service is friendly and quick, though limited seating requires some planning ahead or hanging around waiting. One can be served at the (small) bar if impatient to wait for a table. And yes, espresso is served.
We recently moved back to Richmond after being away for many years. As with many things lately, my hipper-than-us 80 year old parents introduced us to this spot. Loved the vibe, the service and especially the food. I order the whole branzino because I didn't want pasta and also because I wanted to say I ate the "whole branzino" It actually was just the right amount of food. The whole fish served on top of mixed greens was divine! Also split a limoncello tart which was good, but ended up envious of my mother's tiramisu. We had a reservation for 4 and by the time we left around 9ish, the place was full and hopping with lots of couples eating at the bar.
Superb Italian fare. Consider making a reservation in the weekends because it's a small space and very popular. The squid ink fettuccine with shrimp and scallops is divine. Servers are industry pros.
The pizza is over-cooked and too salty. The fish soup is not "fish soup", It is a seafood soup with squid.

Both of our dishes were well made. Pretty plates and very flavorful. I think their menu is interesting .. anyone can find something to eat even if you are not into seafood.
Creative menu. Wonderful service. And excellent, flavorful food. Kale Caesar salad was very nicely prepared - easily could be shared with 2+ people. Had the blackened mahi with beans, corn, mango, etc. Great!! Nicely sized portion. Would definitely go back.
Went back to ECP for the second time and the food was just as great. It was just two of us and we opted for the patio to enjoy our drinks during happy hour. There are table umbrellas making the VA sun a little less intense. I'd recommend the shrimp cocktail. They charge per (jumbo) shrimp and serve it in a martini glass with cocktail sauce and a lemon slice. Presentation is definitely a staple for them.
This restaurant is fabulous. If you like seafood and haven't been you are seriously missing out. I recommend small plates and the crab stack is a MUST. I give the chef an A+ for creativity and presentation. Oysters are delish and super fresh...try his many toppings for raw oysters, they will not disappoint. Thanks East Coast, I'm sending all my friends your way!!
Stale bread and lies... lobster roll was a total rip off! I only ordered it because we were told it was a whole Maine lobster, not even close, but there was plenty of stale bread to go with it (not toasted, but stale). Then the waitress changed her attitude and story when I brought it to her attention not even attempting to resolve the issue. I told her it's only a tail meat (about 5 chunks) on stale bread, and NASTY, she did not offer a solution to the issue instesd became rude and standoffish. The bean salad is tasteless, which meant it was wasted. The mac and cheese was flavorless, my child took one bite and said no way and he loves a good homemade version. Not worth the money and will never go back thanks to the lack of customer service. I'm not sure how this place rated so well and the owners picture of the lobster roll is not an adequate representation of what it actually looks like.

Service was good. We had a great waitress, even though most of the waiters were routinely standing around checking their phones. The food leaves something to be desired. I ordered the mahi mahi. It came w/ a small scoop of brown rice & a small plop of steamed veggies. I could've made all of this way better on the grill at home & intend to. For a final total of $33 & change I expected gourmet food with amazing flavor. The side of she-crab soup was very fishy w/o much meat. It was an up charge of $3.50 to order that as my side soup instead of the butternut squash. A bowl of soup by itself is $4. That's a total ripoff. I can say no one else in our party of 7 was very satisfied with flavor or price either. There were 1-2 gnats that wouldn't leave our table too. Very gross. The garlic bread was the only good thing. I won't eat here again.
Even in a foodie town like Richmond, finding a great meal at a late hour can be a challenge. Tarrant's Cafe rose to that challenge with as fine a dinner at 10 pm as one could expect anytime. On Sunday night we shared the she crab soup, my husband had chicken tarragon salad and I enjoyed triple nut crusted opakapaka. Both our meals were well prepared and flavorful and my fish was moist and flaky despite the late hour. Our server, Avery, kept our drinks filled and was attentive without being overbearing. We have always had fine meals at Tarrant's during the day and this evening proved that the hour is not an issue-from the soup to the bread pudding, all was excellent.
Very cool place with awesome food. We both had the she crab, salad and turkey Reuben. We didn't know they were going to also bring some of the best garlic bread we've ever had. We were stuffed by the end. Sooo yummy. Highly recommend.
Food and service was good. Bad case of fruit flies towards rear of dining facility. Swatted at flies throughout meal. Mentioned to waitress and bought back manager. Manager said they were familiar with problem and we're sorry for incident and took care of bill. Another waiter/employee came over and indicated that if we weren't pleased, it was many more guest that would come in our place like it didn't mean much to him, I was very surprised at fellow employees statement. Not sure if I'll be back.
White pizza is on point. The ranch is house made. Great combination!! Happy hour 5.00 Manhattans Sazerec and other classics drinks. Best happy hour in the city hands down. Get the buffalo shrimp taco with ranch for 4 and pizza for 6! #boss

Went here with my parents on a whim and it did NOT disappoint! Every single thing I shoved in my greedy mouth was better than the last. Fried fish was on point and the fried chicken was crispy and juicy. I'm super picky with greens and their collards were AMAZING. The service was fantastic and our server was very friendly and attentive. I can't wait to go back and try more of their food. New favorite spot!
$$ good food, service is decent, but the serving sizes are just enormous. Everyone walks out with carry-out boxes. First time we went was during the week and there was no wait time. This time around we had to wait an hour to get seated. We drove 6 hours to eat here, which just shows how delicious the food is.
Croaker Spot is one of the best places to go when VISITING Richmond Va. The food is good and they give nice portions. Last visit was on a Sunday and was to full to be seated (opted for take-out). Which was good. Overall they do not disappoint when you want some good ole' southern food!
The food was excellent! DEFINITELY worth every penny. Love the 3-7happy hour $5 meals and drinks. I even ordered off the happy hour menu for the bourbon pasta, so yum😋, the portion was huge I had to take the rest home. The drinks was on point, not watered down at all. The bartender was phenomenal (Brandon) . I will make a trip back to richmond just for this hospitality and of course for the yummy food and die hard drinks..
The food is great. I had the filet fish, cabbage, baked mac & cheese and the mashed potatoes. They give you a good amount. The atmosphere is perfect for a family dinner and couples. I will go again and again. A cozy place.
