Ramen Restaurants near Garden Grove, CA

“If you’ve ever driven by this cozy Korean spot with traditional hanok-style windows and a constant line out the door, you’ll know why I’ve been curious about Hangari Kalguksu for a while. I finally caught a quiet weekday afternoon and went in right away.

The menu comes in Korean and English, but the English side is mostly phonetic, so don’t be surprised if it doesn’t help much. I just pointed at the Korean menu and ordered their signature kalguksu ($17.99). They also offer sujebi, rice cake dumpling soup, cold noodles like buckwheat or soybean, plus classics like tteokbokki and fried snacks.

Banchan was simple yeolmu kimchi, light and refreshing. Then came the main event, a massive bowl of kalguksu, easily double the portion you’d expect, with a small side of barley rice (boribap). The broth was surprisingly clean and slightly sweet, loaded with shrimp, clams, potatoes, zucchini, and seaweed.

Pro tip: serve some noodles into your small bowl, then mix in their chili paste and sesame oil. It instantly levels up the flavor. Super comforting and honestly hard to stop eating so I ended up finishing the whole thing without realizing it.

Portions are huge, so sharing isn’t a bad idea. If you can’t finish, just ask for a to-go box.

Also worth noting, there’s another Hangari Kalguksu in LA (ktown) with a similar name and a more expanded menu. Not sure if they’re related, but something to keep in mind if you’re exploring different locations.“

“My teenagers and I had the Motto Black, the Motto Red, and the Motto Special. All bowls were tasty and delicious. Noodles were fresh and the chaschu melted in your mouth. Staff was super friendly and attentive. I would recommend as a casual and family friendly atmosphere. We will definitely be back again.“

“The plaza is very quiet. Plenty of parking. We came here for their amazement and they are delicious. The thicker noodle texture is what they used for mazemen. The seasoning is perfect. Just the right amount of sauce at the end to go with the scoop of rice they gave at the end.

The vegan ramen broth was flavorful. It came with tofu, lotus root, eggplant and a few spinach leaves.“

“My child and I moved into the area in late 2022. We've been coming here since the place opened. It's a very nice environment and feel with the music playing. The deals offered are as they say, a deal. I always get the tonkatsu ramen with the chicken karaage. The karaage is very tender and the ramen amazing. I've always had the best service here and food is spectacular. Make sure to always try the deep fried ice cream. I could live off that stuff if I could.“

“I went in here on a whim after not eating all day, craving soup and seeing the long line. I figured, “why not?” The line was lengthy, but to speed the process, there was someone outside providing the menu and answering questions. They also. Kept in consideration that I was eating solo, so when a seat at the bar opened up, it was given to me.

As soon as I sat down, my server confirmed what I wrote and I KID YOU NOT, my food was in front of me a minute later. There was water on the table on front of you so you didn’t have to ask for refills, and all the extra condiments were on the table as well. I simply got to enjoy my food and just had to ask for the check and paid on my way out. This was my kind of dining!“

“As one of the 1.5 billion people in the world who can't eat pork, the world of real ramen has been closed to me. This paitan ramen had perfect noodles and a rich chicken broth. They have the choice between traditional pork slices or slices of the most tender chicken breast. You place orders on a ticket so each person orders exactly as they want. “What is surprisingly fun place. First time, we've been to a make your own ramen place. The worker was so friendly in helping us pick out the noodles we wanted, how to heat it and the toppings and everything. They had a great variety of different types of ramen.

What a very novel idea and all around fun, place to go.“

“Great food when in the mood for udon noodles or Ramen. Every dish tasted amazing and there was a variety of choices to include appetizers. Plenty of seating after pouring in your order at the kiosk. Once you're number is called you pick up your order and add spices, oils, ginger,etc as you want to your dish. When done you bring your trays to a stacked area (kind of full). Plenty of parking up front and the restrooms were clean.“

“Just realized after the fact that this is a local Japanese ramen chain, I haven’t been to Hokkaido so I can’t comment on the authenticity but it’s a pretty good bowl of ramen. I got the D set (shio) and it came with a side of chahan. Very filling and very tasty, the staff was great too.“

“Waited approximately one hour to be seated. Spoiker: it was well worth that wait. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen and pork buns. I can't decide which part was better, the noodles or the broth! The pork buns were priced just right at $8 for 2. Some of the best I've had. You are all so lucky to have such a wonderful ramen bar in your community. Today came to try the ramen, had a not so good experience ordering it here before and thought maybe it was just an off day, unfortunately it wasn't. I'm sort of a ramen snob, and we ordered the Tonkotsu and the Black ramen. Both were disappointing.the black ramen has a pork broth like the tonkotsu, but it seemed overly salty, as if the base was primarily soy sauce, and the regular tonkotsu although was a bit smoother still was lacking in flavor. The noodles were chewy and seemed almost as if they used noodles from a Top Ramen package. I'll continue to visit them for sushi on occasion, but that will be my last ramen attempt here.“

“Such a great find! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. They have an impressive selection of vegetarian and vegan options, which can be hard to find at sushi restaurants, and everything we ordered was delicious.

“I've ordered food to-go and dined in at this location. I ordered sushi and ramen to-go and it was good. The ramen was surprisingly hot for a long while. The tempura was great and everything was packaged well and kept warm/hot even after I got home and began eating it.
We had dinner here after going to the axe throwing place close by and were seated right away. They're open late and we ordered multiple sushi rolls for the table and were delightfully full. I enjoyed the Jessica Alba roll and would get it again in the future. Parking is doable but it gets pretty packed at night and on the weekends so it may take a few extra minutes but I'm always able to find parking in less than 10 minutes. Would recommend for a solid Japanese dinner in a casual setting with friends or family.“

Not nearly as long of a wait as other locations and plenty of outdoor seating. I appreciate that they add the service fee into the bill for dine-in to save you the hassle of guessing tip amounts. They seem to have very solid employee benefits, too. I love their pork sliders and tonkotsu ramen!“

“Sushi Mura has the best ramen in Buena Park. This was my first time here. I've been to most ramen places in Buena Park, and didn't realize Sushi Mura is a hidden gem Sushi and ramen place near me.

The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. The menu had more options than I'll ever be able try. I had the special sake and appetiser deal for $30 and was not disappointed.

This was the place nearest to us that the ramen pics looked appealing. I have to say the ramen here was amazing. It tasted almost the same to the ramen we tried in our trip to Tokyo. And our server was so nice and attentive. He was so sweet that he gave our mom her drink for free since she wasn’t going to consume food due to not liking ramen but she was accompanying us.
