“The food is phenomenal. We got reservations for 2 at the bar 3 weeks in advance. The bar seating was great, had a nice time chatting with the bartenders and other customers. We ordered 5 dishes per person and we enjoyed everything we got!
Some dishes that stood out:
1. Tripe kushiyaki—this was my favorite, it was so tender and flavorful. I never had tripe prepared like this, it didn’t taste like tripe at all.
2. Raw oysters—the jello was bright and made this common dish so unique
3. Chicken meatball skewer—it’s a big piece and was very juicy
4. Mushroom kushiyaki—the sauce was everything ?
5. Miso bone marrow—super rich and was so tasty with the rice
Parking:
They have valet for $12 (cash or venmo)“

“Minimalistic and thoughtful decor with attentive service. Food is fusion with an Asian twist. Soup base of the ramen is one of the best I have ever tasted. Fried fish taco is special, salad is refreshing and the dessert - Tokyo banana is not overly sweet at all. I really like everything they offered.“

The sushi is amazing - fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The vibey atmosphere with great music adds to the overall experience. I haven't tried anything I didn't like.
Highly recommended for both the food and the fantastic service!“

“You can buy top quality products at low prices. I have never considered California rolls to be sushi, but the California rolls at this restaurant are very delicious. I love eating it.There is a wide variety of sashimi available, and they will cut it according to your request. It's Japanese quality.Best of all, pre-order catering is extremely cost-effective and delicious. In addition to fish-related products, they also sell Japanese sweets and bento boxes.
Parking: If the available parking lot is crowded and you cannot park, you can park in a nearby residential area.“

“Great place for date night or out with friends. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about their menu and even suggested some specials we weren't aware of. The drinks were great, I had a yuzu margarita and my husband had a whiskey neat. We ordered a variety of food like salad, filet mignon, their specialty sashimi, and some nigiro. The fish was incredibly fresh and the steak was melt in your mouth! Definitely will be back.“

“Our experience at Uka was phenomenal. We requested to be seated at the chef’s counter for the nine-course kaiseki. The subtle harmony of flavors and textures were so satisfying and the atmosphere and service provided by the team took it to the next level. I absolutely love that they guide you along the fine dining journey which felt like luxury among friends.
Each bite was a discovery and something that we will cherish until our next visit.“

“First the atmosphere: it's a cute, well put together little Japanese restaurant. Walls line with art and photos. You can read the history of the place as you eat. Dining tables and a bar to sit and enjoy a meal.Second, the food: impeccable food displayed on nice plates. Large chunks of fish in the sushi rolls. Spicy tuna and salmon roll had a smooth texture and world-class taste. I did not use soy sauce or because the fish was amazing by itself. This alone will bring me back. I ordered a combo with beef teriyaki and pork cutlet. The pork cutlet was succulent. Pick it up with chopsticks and marvel at the juiced flow. The crust had standalone flavor that I might use as a topping by itself if that were an option. The beef was cooked to perfection. The yeriyaki sauce had a unique taste to it. Came with soup and salad. Miso is a simple dish that this establishment has perfected. The salad was a standard side salad with ginger dressing. Great way to cleanse the palatte. Tempura was also served, and it was again a world-class dish. Fresh tasting veggies and two healthy shrimp.Lastly, the service:the older woman who was there was a gem, and this review is not about her. This review is about the young, inexperienced waitress. I don't think she has enough experience to be serving folks, so this may not be the best place for her to learn. This establishment is the longest running japanese restaurant in Los Angeles. That comes with a heavy burden. The young waitress was not warm or inviting. These two traits are set in stone within japanese culture. As the older woman tried coaching the younger, she younger woman gave dirty looks and rolled her eyes. She seemed uninterested and worse than that, unwilling to learn from her elder. I will be back at some point and hope to see how her journey is going.Overall, you will be satisfied here. Please come one and all to a modern marvel of japanese cuisine in the greater Los Angeles area.“

“Delicious bento at a reasonable price and good portion!! I had a mild Jidori Chicken Karaage bento which was great! The chicken was meaty with the right amount of crunchiness, and all the sides were delicious. I will definitely return and try other items as well.
Good service, clean dining area, and free parking spaces right in front.“

“Absolutely loved this experience. Thank you for this wonderful comfortable dinner. It’s exactly what I love. The restaurant is not big which I liked because it felt cozy and not super crowded. Non of the courses specifically stood out but everything was perfect. Service was absolutely incredible, always caring and super friendly. Loved how they kept giving extra courses and even adding a lovely Polaroid picture at the end. It’s crazy how they even thank us again by sending a letter to my address. Loved it and LOVED IT. Just go“

“This is hands down my new favorite sushi place. I will never be going back to Katsuya. Joe is quite an extraordinary chef. I used to frequent a sushi restaurant he used to work at, but it wasn't the same after he left. I'm so grateful that I was able to find him here after a good hunt. Highly recommend!!!
Vegetarian options: You can ask for whatever you want that doesn't contain any meat. Like cucumber rolls, avocado rolls, egg rolls, or just miso and an order of sticky rice.“

“This is hard for me. On one hand, I don’t want to share this secret for fear it may make it harder for me to enjoy in the future. But on the other, this should be the most celebrated ramen in Los Angeles. It is hands down my favorite ramen, karaage and curry. Chef Niki is an absolute master and the service is unmatched.“

“This is easily some of the best sushi I’ve ever had, accompanied by some of the most authentic friendly customer service. Presentation, service, freshness and deliciousness were honestly all 11/10. I could decide what I wanted so I asked if they had a variety plate I could order. They said they don’t have one on the menu but the chef was willing to whip up a custom order with a great variety of fish to try. This place is a must try.“

“I’m a big fan of Maki Noho. Sushi is super fresh and tasty. I love their Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, hand-rolls (dine-in only) and their blooming onion too. Haven’t really tried anything I didn’t like. I’ve also brought a few people here that liked it too. Service is great, location is convenient to dine with friends or alone. I want to try their hot dishes but the sushi is hard to resist!“

“My boyfriend and I got the omakase but to be honest it was not worth it, the food tasted great but you can get almost the exact same course by ordering the 10 piece nigiri from the menu for half of the price. The atmosphere is nice but not appropriate for a traditional omakase. Highly recommend, just save your money and skip out on the omakase.“

“Came here for their Dine LA menu. We were seated really quickly and service was great. The manager was walking around checking up on everyone and even helping out with orders. Each course was really solid, just mainly the onigiri rice balls which were a bit bland and lacking in the bonito flake flavor in my opinion. Overall, would come back!“

“This is a particularly luxurious restaurant, and every sushi chef feels very professional! I heard that Chef Fa Po is this restaurant’s special dish, and it is indeed a high-end dish! First, the appetizers included Japanese miso soup and a small salad. Then the waiter served a variety of side dishes that were said to be paired with sushi. The different types of salt attracted us! We were surprised when a large plate of sushi was served. It was so delicious, exquisite and delicious! The waiter is also very professional, explaining each fish and how to eat it one by one. Finally, we had pudding snacks, which were sweet and delicious? It was a perfect meal! satisfy!“

“This may be the best food truck in LA. Incredible quality and value. Would give Takuma 10 stars if I could. The okinamiyaki burrito is one of the most original meals I’ve had in LA and so delicious. The chicken sandwich comes with two massive cutlets that are perfectly fried and moist. I’ve also had the churros and they were incredible. Please keep coming back to Playa Vista!“

“Owa was great! I went in with a friend to try their dine la menu and all the food that came out were fresh and tasty. Sushi can be simple but so complex to ensure a delicate experience. This seemed to be accomplished with their crudos, spicy tuna crispy rice, and rolls that came out. We enjoyed the craft cocktails as well. We both ordered the Lychee Love Me cocktail and that had a good strong taste of gin but blended well with the other ingredients. We loved the desserts that we chose too. Ordered the matcha tiramisu and the tres leches to try both. Didn't disappoint as we kept savoring each spoonful. We left with a full belly!“

“First time here and ordered the fish soup as an appetizer and my gosh it was delicious ? I honestly plan to come back and order 3 bowls just for lunch lol

“Great food, aside from the udon they also serve rice here. For my rice bowl , I asked for gyudon with a lot of fresh spring onion and tempura bits. Aside from that I ordered tempura shrimp and sweet potato, and it was all fried right in front of me , live.
I was also surprised because they have Calamansi juice or they call it Calamansi lemonade, its a must for Filipinos its the real thing, I ordered another glass since its getting hot outside. Thanks a lot to David, the manager, since it was my first time here he showed me how the process of choosing what I want is.
You need to wait to get a seat but its before lunch time so the queue was just starting.
If you do not know how to use a chopstick, there is a fork and a soup spoon. There is also drinking water available.“

“Uchi offers a truly exceptional Japanese omakase experience with a vibrant crowd that enhances the ambiance. The bottle of Chardonnay and the fresh cocktails were amazing, perfectly complementing the exquisite dishes. “I visited for the first time since the shop moved to its new location. There is no signboard for the shop. About five minutes before the reservation time, we were allowed to enter the shop. The interior felt like a very traditional Japanese sushi restaurant, with wooden decor. There are six seats for each chef, and we enjoyed our meal while having pleasant conversations with the chef and other customers.
We chose a course that included sake tasting, featuring quite rare Japanese sake, which made it feel very special. The sushi’s flavor was incredibly authentic, with about 90% of the ingredients sourced from Japan, and we were extremely satisfied with it. Since it was a reservation for a special occasion, we also received a message card from the staff, which made the day very heartwarming. The atmosphere, the taste, and the hospitality were all top-notch, making it a first-class restaurant in every aspect.“

“We came here for a Saturday lunch. Happened to be quiet today at the restaurant.
Ordered the $75 AYCE lunch.
Kobe wagyu was the best of course. The ribeye was good. Also the salmon and the yellowtail carpaccio were great.
All the beef items were tasty. The chicken was okay. (Its just chicken!) The spicy shrimp was great too.
I liked that they can do half orders or certain items. We did this with the beef fried rice.
Our server, Avi, was super helpful! He suggested some great dishes for us.
We enjoyed the food and the experience“

“This place is fantastic. One of the best sushi places along the famous Studio City Sushi row. Seeing that more renowned sushi spots Asanebo and Katsu-ya have gradually slipped from their once impeccable heights of greatness, I gave relative newcomer Sushi Tomoki a shot based on solid reviews and it didn’t disappoint. The $80 Omakase was fantastic and better value than other premium sushi places in quality and number of pieces. A few pieces were simply mind blowing. The O Toro was melt in your mouth incredible with perfect marbling that for me beats out Brothers Sushi and Iroha’s top tuna cuts. But then unexpected greats were also their Black Cod Nigiri with some sort of miso almond thing in it that was a taste explosion. The seared Aburi Salmon Belly nigiri was also divine, elevating salmon in sushi to heights of deliciousness thoroughly unexpected, if only because I generally find salmon sushi dishes elsewhere the epitome of mild, blasé fare. One of the snappers served up as part of the Omakase was also a total revelation and surprise. Not part of the Omakase, but also worth the order was the freshwater eel nigiri that surprisingly was among the best I’ve had at any sushi restaurant in the world including trips to Japan. Oh and the Santa Barbara Uni was among best I’ve ever tasted too.
There is clearly a reason this place is currently a 5 star rating with 72 reviews on Google, and 4.8 with 153 reviews on Yelp, it’s because it really is fantastic, serving up sushi that upstages current and previous Michelin star sushi spots I’ve been to in a decidedly unpretentious, very easy to get a spot for two at the sushi bar on a Tuesday space.
Atmosphere decor wise, it is nice but a little more simple and not as vibey as a few other spots. In some ways refreshing considering buzz over more decor forward spaces like Leona’s Sushi House down the road that Michelin seems enamored with wanting to give its next star to but ultimately despite the vibe, has inferior sushi to this spot, even though it took over the building of former casual dining burrito place “the Salsa Bar” and did an admirable job converting it into a sleek sushi restaurant with sizable sushi bar and numerous tables. The atmosphere while pleasant certainly takes a back seat to the food.
I will say the service was also impeccable going a noticeable degree out of their way to try to be as on point as possible but very pleasant. It also helped the ratio of customers to staff at 8:00 pm on a Tuesday seemed less than 2 to 1! Honestly, how a place is this much better than a lot of names more buzzed about spots and slightly cheaper and with glowing customer reviews and not completely slammed is beyond me. Guessing that with it being near Jazz spot The Baked Potato and only having a few parking spaces of its own, it might be an occasional restraint but we found parking immediately and if their spots are full, that’s an area you still would have an easy time finding street parking or metro parking within two blocks.
I will say, the $80 Omakase was delicious but filling to those with lighter appetites. I’m sure more than filling enough for the majority of Angelenos doing their weekly Ozempic, but for two high calorie dudes, we also ordered two rolls on top of the Omakase plus the extra eel nigiri (fantastic) and that did it. All in, with saki, omakase, two cut rolls, and an additional nigiri, with tax and tip, was $150 a person even, less than a lot of spots with this tier of quality and definitely felt I got value for my money.
Only slights: atmosphere being a 4 out of 5 and pretty small cut roll selection (just 7 cut roles on the menu when most places offer at least 10 and spots like Sushi Dan go nuts with all their cut role options).
Selection and quality of nigiri is top notch. All in all, 5 stars for sure.“

“Drunken chicken by lemon fish is a great sushi restaurant located in Hollywood. What makes them special is that they also have additional Pocha items like these McDonald’s like fries so you know they’re great for weekend dinners. My favorite roll is their citrus salmon. It comes with shrimp tempura, salmon on top and a sliced lemon for freshness. Come out for great food and super fun vibes and If you’re not into sushi then you have to try their fried chicken. Their soy garlic is so full of flavor and the chicken is juicy, meaty, and crispy.“
