“First time dining here and we will return. Grant, our server, was extraordinary! He took our experience to another level with his attentive style, being lighthearted, friendly and having extensive knowledge of the menu. Our entrees were perfect and next time we’re trying the chocolate mousse and onion soup. Wonderful!“
“This is such a cute and cozy restaurant on Balboa Island, great to stop in and grab a bite to eat after a walk around the island. The Stuffed Zucchini Flowers, RH Mac & Cheese and the Short Rib Fettuccine were the favorites of the evening by far. We could have just ordered doubles of these dishes and been in bliss. The shrimp and scallop curry risotto and chicken pot pie, for my taste were a bit bland; however, the rest of my dinner party did not agree and for them, the chicken pot pie was up there with the three favorites of the evening.“
“Old classic steak house with out of this world great food. Great service as you would expect with a class restaurant. Cocktails were nice, and wine options very good - a bit overpriced tho. Great for special occasions or just a nice dinner. Always been a favorite !“
“Here are the pros … beautiful architecture, good food (appreciate the option for vegan cheese which is tasty), good drinks, attentive service.… and the cons: very loud if you’re dining inside on the weekend, our round table was wobbly (quite unexpected when you’re paying a premium for your meal), valet parking ($8 not including tip) is required unless you have a lot of time and patience to search the beach streets for parking and are willing to hike a bit.“
“Bluewater Grill is the best place for seafood in Orange County. They have a great variety of fish and shellfish; the service is wonderful, and they have free corkage. My wife and I dine here 2 to 3 times a month and are neveer disappointed. We had two of our favorites. She had the baked Haddock with scalloped potatoes and asparagus only had them serve it with the Lemon Caper Burre Blanc which is a fantastic sauce over fish. I had the steamed clams and mussels, which I usually alternate with the Cioppino (which is the best) and the Chipotle blackened swordfish over dirty rice. Absolutely wonderful. The servers are some of the best. Friendly, helpful and since we eat here a lot, most will stop by and say hello. We love this restaurant.“
“What makes my experience fantastic when I dine out is 2 things , the food and the service. And both were exceeded. Our waiter was friendly, thorough, and accommodating. He went beyond with bringing dessert to us when he found out my friend was celebrating his birthday. And the food was full of flavors . The portion and presentation was beautiful. I had the crabcake on brunch menu. And the ambience was perfect for easy Sunday feeling . Overall outstanding experience!“
“We loved this place and went back three days in a row!Great selection of delicious food, all the alcohol you'll ever need and good coffee.Location is ideal, right by the pier and the beach, and a great spot to watch the sun go down.Buzzing atmosphere and very friendly staff and customers every time we visited.Awesome!!Kid-friendliness: Safe for kids and good food options“
“The family and I came down to spend the week in Newport. I haven't been to the spot in 20 years, but Blackies delivered the same excellent service and quality drinks and access to great tunes on their fabulous jukebox. This will not be the last time I visit, but quite possibly the last time until next summer. Thank you for a real good time. If you're on the fence about a great spot to come for a good cocktail and a good vibe, Blackies is the place. Thanks to all the players and the locals for welcoming me in with open arms and I'll see you next summer.“
“Sounds delicious! Here's a review:"The Children Coop is a delightful restaurant bar offering a cozy ambiance and a diverse menu to satisfy any craving. Their Taco Tuesday specials are a highlight, with flavorful and generously portioned tacos that keep patrons coming back week after week. Whether you're in the mood for breakfast, appetizers, or a hearty meal, they have you covered with a variety of options to choose from. The service is attentive and friendly, adding to the overall enjoyable dining experience. If you're looking for a place to unwind with delicious food and drinks, The Children Coop is definitely worth a visit."“
“*****Wow!*****Shame on me for not finding CJs (Campus Jax) sooner! The ambiance reminds me of the old Jazz clubs but newer, updated and clean. Another difference is the food. Don't expect dishes you would find on cooking shows but they have a decent menu with food that is good. They also have happy hour prices. If you know where SNA (John Wayne Airport) is, this is a minute down the road. Easy parking and a relaxed vibe makes me a fan. What makes this place "as good as it gets" is the people running the place. Everyone here is a class act in my book. Everyone is super nice and friendly. Seating here is intimate and cozy but not too cozy where you don't have breathing room. I was super comfortable. Bathrooms are clean. The other customers are friendly. The live bands and music...wow. Thank God for social media because if all those addicted to the screen realized listening to real music in person is this good, I would never find a seat here. Leave your 'tude at the door, pull up a chair, sit back and then relax.... this is THE spot.My new favorite place.“
“Super convenient location in the office park I was visiting for a few days. I ate breakfast and lunch both days. B'fast burritos were great! I had a grilled cheese with bacon for one lunch, and a weiner on a pretzel road with tater tots the next. Everything was very good. No complaints!Service was fast and the best thing was being able to eat outside in the very nice seating areas!“
“booked a reservation on a busy night yet the service was still excellent! I asked for tartar sauce and spicy mayo and they delivered!! The french fries were so crispy, which I like. I ordered the chicken meatballs and spaghetti and it was delectable. My dad ordered the steak and asked for medium well but it was medium. However they had no problem of recooking the steak for him. Definitely bringing my family back!!Vegetarian options: They have a veggie burger“
“Food was absolutely delicious! We had the lobster roll (hot) with Asian slaw and the poke bowl. The Asian slaw was dressed with a ginger dressing and so refreshing! The poke bowl was delicious and fresh as was the lobster. We can’t wait to return! Service was also excellent!“
“Food was Amazing!!! We ordered the Angel hair Pasta with tiger shrimp and the salmon with lemon caper sauce. Everything was so so yummy!!I do recommend the orange capers salad and the Raspberry mule. Service was superb!!Definitely recommend this restaurant!!!“
“NICE LUNCH ! My wife and I hit this Whole Foods Market in Newport Beach on Saturday morning for most of our weekly grocery needs. It was pouring down rain when we arrived and when we left....thankfully the Fashion Island huge multi level parking garage is straight across the street. After taking care of our grocery needs we headed to the tavern ( opens at midday ) at the rear of this store. We've had lunch here a few times and it's all been good. We parked our full shopping cart beside a table and I fetched a menu from the bar counter. Juana the manager / server / bartender said hi. I asked for a couple of iced waters. My wife selected the TTLA Sandwich ( Tempeh bacon, garlic aioli, green leaf lettuce, tomato, avocado, toasted ciabatta, side salad or fries ) with Fries option and I decided on the Pulled Pork Sandwich ( BBQ pulled pork, BBQ sauce, cabbage, ranch, pickles, toasted brioche bun, side salad or fries ) with Fries option. My Pulled Pork Sandwich & thick cut Fries came out within a few minutes but my wife was left wondering about her order. A minute or 2 later Juana came to our table and said the kitchen was out of Tempeh Bacon ( bacon made from fermented soy beans ) . WHAT'S THAT ? Not being vegetarians we had no idea that Tempeh Bacon was a fake bacon. GIVE US THE REAL THING ! Juana said they can substitute regular bacon for the fake stuff. Eventually my wife's BTLA Sandwich with thick cut Fries was brought out by Juana. NO PROB ! I think the lunch menu should be clearer when describing the ingredients...in particular the Tempeh Bacon. We were both pretty happy with our lunch....I did mention to Juana they should go easier on the BBQ sauce. GOOD SPOT !“
“Very enjoyable Abel is a great person and keeps place safe love it the service was great and the environment was fantastic. There always that person that makes it enjoyable. You have to remember the staff gives you a place to enjoy the patrons that is a different story and people like Abel that try to keep it safe and enjoyable for everyone.“
“I ordered the Shrimp tacos tostados, I was expecting crunchy tacos (because of the name) but they were soft tacos but they were delicious anyway. Shrimp was very flavorful and the rice with cilantro was good as well. They have self-serve chips and salsa, tasted fresh. Drank a Donkey Punch (1 was good enough to feel happier) Sat next to the walk way and the breeze felt good. friendly staff“
“Love this place! The barman and the locals were all so friendly and welcoming, if I lived nearby, I'd make it my local. Great atmosphere...Thank you for making my morning, and my guests morning so lovely!Parking: I was able to park easily as I was travelling with others who had a disabled ♿ badge.Wheelchair accessibility: A wheelchair would easily access this place.“
“We were driving around town to see what would be open on Christmas Day and landed up at Malarkys! It’s your typical Irish pub, so we got The Perfect Guinness which was truly perfect. The Pub burger was sooo tasty and well cooked. However, the fish & chips weren’t too special. Seems like they had more batter then fish which was a bit disappointing. But definitely go for the tots as your side!“
“Food is exceptional with very high-grade quality fish. Sushi chefs always have a specialty offering of the day. Service staff is always friendly, even when they are very busy during lunchtime. Looking forward to dining on the other side of the sushi bar where they offer teppan tables for groups.“
“My husband and I found this place during a road trip and were so happily surprised. The fish was incredibly fresh and tasty and at such reasonable prices! We both had salads and were very pleased with the portions and freshness! Highly recommend!“
“View: 5 star - Beautiful pool and gorgeous golf course with ocean on the horizon . Lovely spot! Food: Excellent Traditional Eggs Benedict & others chose outstanding Salmon Benedict. Yummy Reservation for 4: Disappointing. Made waaay in advance specifically for outside table. It was busy but not chaotic. Hostess said “nothing available for our time” except a booth inside ( which is almost always empty anyhow). We declined, so told to wait. We directed ourselves to the bar - Only 3 people sitting at the bar with 3 bartenders there, but no one even looked up. Not a Pelican Resort welcome or even brief nod. Odd. We waited quite awhile to be served and 20-25 minutes before our table ready. We LOVE Pelican Resort & restaurants and know this is the most casual. Such a beautiful space, but it's still Pelican Resort, so service at these touch points might need a little look-see as plenty of supervisors were there? Bottom Line: ... We had a DELICIOUS BRUNCH so the kitchen and table staff were on point !!!“
“Had a blast with family watching the Super Bowl with our awesome server Robert enjoying yummy food and cocktails. We were able to watch the game with 7 TVs. Lots of fun and lively groups. We were able to sit there for the entire game. Highly recommend! Fight On!“
