“Wonderful family owned place! The most authentic Italian restaurant outside of Italy. At Il Farro food is prepared with attention and real LOVE. Everything from the appetizers to dessert were perfect. Every dish is made with true italian fresh and natural ingredients and is made by traditional recipes. The talented chef M. makes pastas and pizzas daily and they taste amazing. Also the house wine is a good selection. I suggest you to have their own valuable wine. Il Farro has a great management and staff too. We loved interacting with customers and guys who work in, they became like family for us. The qualified employees are friendly helpful and the restaurant is always clean. They do have enough seats and limited outdoor seating, but get a reservation in advance to make sure you have a place.Hands off, this is the best place to gather with friends or family! “There is a God!! I have been away for years working in North Dakota praying for a shrimp burrito. I was in Balboa over weekend and got my Shrimp fix. So darn good! The best shrimp soze and taste anywhere. They have not changed anything during this bad inflation. Miss the salsa bar but they gave us plenty. Most great places come and eventually go but GM is still.#1. Thank you Peter and staff!!.“

Being a coffee snob, I had to look for the hidden gem of coffee in Newport while here on vacation. The guava & cheese danish & their organic coffee was an experience worth writing about. Their Banana cream matcha is stellar as well :)“

“Omg if I could give this place 10 stars I would. The environment is very welcoming. Classy and elegant but not too much where you feel underdressed. The food is so good!!! We had the chicken fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, and the pork soup bao. The rice was flavorful and fluffy with the right amount of fresh cut chicken. The sweet and sour chicken had that classic crunch with the perfect amount of sweetness. Just enough sweet and sour sauce to not overwhelm your mouth. The pork soup bao was amazing. When you put it in your mouth the bao burst with the soup and the flavors of pork and the right amount of broth.

Also I note that we have a small child not only did they give him his own sweet and sour chicken FOR FREE, but also gave him his own small children’s silverware.

The staff was on top of anything we needed and that wasn’t much. They made sure to cater to every need even the needs we didn’t know we needed.

“This was such a cute little cozy coffee place with cute decor where they have a lot of indoor seating (if you walk towards the back) as well as outdoors. Good place to catch up or study.

Got the Breakfast Burrito, Blueberry Pancakes, and Pistachio Latte (hot). The burrito was delicious and the pancakes were super fluffy and sweet. Really liked the pistachio latte - you can taste the nuttiness of the pistachio. Would definitely want to go back to try other items on the menu.

“Cafe Artys is fantastic, the food is fresh and superb, the spicy Italian and breakfast burritos/quesadillas are top notch as well. Can’t recommend this place enough, The parking gate has a 15 minute grace period and the machines work perfectly and are really fast so don’t worry about that. Highly recommend, it’s so easy to just go for a chain food restaurant but supporting a small local business is so important these days not too mention it’s so much more healthy and better food at Cafe Artys!“

“Balboa Island Baking Company is the embodiment of what a cute, local, and utterly delicious bakery should be.

Walked in for the first time today, and was immediately greeted with a smile and kind service. After asking for recommendations (and realizing we missed the cinnamon rolls and sticky pecan rolls, sadly), I got the pecan roll pieces bag, a strawberry scone, and a coconut almond scone. It all blew me away.

First of all, the pecan roll pieces. They warm them up for you, and it is gooey, sweet, cinnamon-y heaven in a bag. I could not stop myself from grabbing bite after bite. If you are the kind of person who loves the center of a sweet roll, then this was made for you, my friend. Next is the strawberry scone with its delectable glaze. The scone itself is a perfect texture, and somehow infused with that fresh, strawberry flavor we all know and love. Finally is the coconut almond scone, also a perfect texture. While not as sweet as it's fruity sister, it has great flavor and I love how much coconut is studded throughout.

So, if you want a little sweet treat to start your day with the bonus of supporting a local gem, then be sure to visit asap!“

“I have reviewed and rated over 50 cafes in California and a handful out of state cafes. I make no exaggeration when I say this place, by far, has the BEST coffee I have ever tried in all of California. The #1 spot for me is 7Grams in NYC, this place is #2.

The wait itself was not bad for Labor Day, it’s a nice small establishment but these employees deserve a meritorious pay. The coffee itself plays a big role in flavor, but the care and effort of the baristas is what really sells it.

I ordered an iced malted latte and it had a beautiful balance of creaminess and boldness.The 12oz is a standard size and it honestly speaks for itself. I will be returning whenever I am in the area.

For those curious, I rate my cafes 1-10. This is a 9/10.“
