We stopped by this small family-owned sandwich shop for the first time, and from the moment we walked in, we felt genuinely welcomed. Jerry, the owner, greeted us with the warmth and friendliness of someone welcoming regular customers he had known for years. That kind of hospitality is rare these days and immediately made us feel at home.

Every sandwich we ordered was outstanding. The bread was fresh, the vegetables were crisp and vibrant, and every ingredient tasted incredibly fresh. You could hear the crunch of the vegetables in each bite and tell that every sandwich was made with care and attention, not simply assembled and handed over. It’s the kind of food that reminds you how delicious simple, fresh ingredients can be when prepared by people who truly care.

We also ordered a strawberry-banana smoothie, and to our surprise, Jerry brought complimentary sample smoothies not only to our table but also to another couple dining nearby. It was such a thoughtful gesture and speaks volumes about the kind of people who run this business.

What made the experience even more meaningful was hearing Jerr’s story. He shared that he came to America in 1981 after escaping the horrors of war in Cambodia. He endured unimaginable hardship as a child, including witnessing the loss of his father and being separated from his family before eventually reuniting with his mother years later. Listening to his journey made us appreciate even more the resilience, gratitude, and kindness he brings to his business every day.

Running a small business is not easy, and Jerry mentioned that the margins are tight and times can be challenging. After experiencing both the food and the hospitality firsthand, I truly hope more people discover this hidden gem. Businesses like this deserve community support.

I’m so glad I found this place on Google Maps and decided to give it a chance. The food was delicious, the service was exceptional, and the people behind it are genuinely wonderful. This is exactly the kind of local business I want to support.

Everything from the appetizers to dessert were perfect. Every dish is made with true italian fresh and natural ingredients and is made by traditional recipes. The talented chef M. makes pastas and pizzas daily and they taste amazing. Also the house wine is a good selection. I suggest you to have their own valuable wine. Il Farro has a great management and staff too. We loved interacting with customers and guys who work in, they became like family for us. The qualified employees are friendly helpful and the restaurant is always clean. They do have enough seats and limited outdoor seating, but get a reservation in advance to make sure you have a place.Hands off, this is the best place to gather with friends or family! The best shrimp soze and taste anywhere. They have not changed anything during this bad inflation. Miss the salsa bar but they gave us plenty. “Balboa Island Baking Company is the embodiment of what a cute, local, and utterly delicious bakery should be.

Walked in for the first time today, and was immediately greeted with a smile and kind service. After asking for recommendations (and realizing we missed the cinnamon rolls and sticky pecan rolls, sadly), I got the pecan roll pieces bag, a strawberry scone, and a coconut almond scone. It all blew me away.

First of all, the pecan roll pieces. They warm them up for you, and it is gooey, sweet, cinnamon-y heaven in a bag. I could not stop myself from grabbing bite after bite. If you are the kind of person who loves the center of a sweet roll, then this was made for you, my friend. Next is the strawberry scone with its delectable glaze. The scone itself is a perfect texture, and somehow infused with that fresh, strawberry flavor we all know and love. Finally is the coconut almond scone, also a perfect texture. While not as sweet as it's fruity sister, it has great flavor and I love how much coconut is studded throughout.

So, if you want a little sweet treat to start your day with the bonus of supporting a local gem, then be sure to visit asap!“

Highly recommend, it’s so easy to just go for a chain food restaurant but supporting a small local business is so important these days not too mention it’s so much more healthy and better food at Cafe Artys!“
