“Incredible food. Every. single. time. Super flavorful, great ingredients and just made with so much love (you can taste it). The plantains are always so ripe and sweet. They have wonderful service and a nice outdoor space to dine as a different option to sitting inside. My favorite is the fried goat with rice+beans and sweet plantains. The griot is amazing too. And so is their sorrel drink. There’s really nothing but great things to say about this family run business. For folks with allergies or dietary restrictions - they have plenty of options too. I am GF. I love how mindful they are. I’m rooting for their success and cannot recommended it more! ??❤️“

“😀First visit here after years of walking past it. The veggie combo and meat combo platters were among the best I've had at Berkeley and Oakland's many great Ethiopian restaurants. Service was very fast and friendly and outdoor back-patio was peaceful. I will be back soon and often.“

“It’s been so hot lately - pineapple green agua Fresca really hits the spot!
Love the fish tacos here- nice and crispy. Salsa verde on the side. We came around noon and there wasn’t a line.
Aloha club next door was open as well if you wanted to get drinks there.
Nice outdoor seating and vibe!“

“Super delicious!
Quick service!
Very stuffy and humid as expected.
We came here for our lunch break hour and were delighted by our meals.
Ordered the large bun bo hue and medium pho dac biet. The large was very generous and filling. Both broths were tasty and and mostly balanced. We felt the food was fairly priced. This was my first time trying Huyet/blood cake and was surprised I liked it. Wasn't gelatinous like I thought. Their tripe is SUPER good. It had flavor instead of just being there for texture, and it vaguely reminded me of menudo.
Also ordered a sugarcane juice and ice thai tea. Both were super delicious and fresh. Definitely worth noting that they fill the entire cup with ice and poured the beverages below ice level which is something you might not expect for $6
They had great condiment options at the table but definitely need to clean then as they were super dirty.
There was a rush that came I'm around 1PM which makes sense because the food is great. Definitely will be coming back to try some more!“

“This is real hood chicken, real soul food. Highly recommend the fried chicken and catfish... unbelievably good. FYI, not a sit down restaurant, but plenty of good parks within distance of the restaurant to eat at and take in the sights of oakland“

“Awesome to have a quick, clean, and tasty Indian restaurant in town. Pani puri, malai kofta, and garlic naan were all great. This is quick and easy North Indian fare. Service is exceptional and while busy, I didn’t have to wait for a table for 1. If you are looking for Indian food in Berkeley, this is a solid choice.“

“I bought the oyster combo with DoorDash and I absolutely loved the deep fried oysters. The fried breading was very tasty and the oysters tasted like they were cooked just right.
I chose potato salad for the side, I liked it, however, I do not know if they make it fresh.
The combo also comes with a Shasta brand soda, but cola and lemon lime are the only offered flavors.
I definitely want to order from here again.“

“Fantastic food in Oakland's Chinatown. Handmade noodles and expansive menu - there's something for everyone. Attentive service and food came out really fast.
Small seating area and expect at least a short wait on the weekends. Great for groups of 2-6 people.
Not the most kid friendly place, but they aren't discouraged.
Parking: Parking can be difficult to find directly on the street - give yourself a few extra minutes.“

“We stopped in got some Fish & Chips (cat fish) and Onion rings and soda.As a very picky Aussie who loves good Fish & Chips most stores here in the US I’d score at a 6/10 but this little hole in the wall shop it’s easy an 8/10 the chips where good size the fish was average size for all the US stores I’ve tried but this little store the batter was crispy and the fish cooked perfectly the onion rings where good the Chips where very good but I feel a few extra minutes in the oil would have made them a perfect Crispy outer and hot and fluffy“

“First of all the people that were in there getting food talked to me about how great it is before I could even order. I was excited. I ordered a Super Burrito with ground beef and everything. I also ordered a taco. When I saw how many ingredients were piled up on that taco and saw how the only way he could close that taco was to envelope it in aluminum foil I was amazed. But then when I picked up my bag containing one burrito and one taco I swear it was a couple of pounds! The burrito was huge! And delicious! And the person taking my order and the person making the orders were very pleasant. I will definitely be back many times.“

“Off the hook has been closed for repair for many months which left a huge void in my family dinners. When I called today and found they were open, I was ecstatic. Their quality of a meal did not let me down and the price did not go up. So glad you are up and running again“

“Best chicken tacos/burritos in town (the chicken is fire-grilled out back). The ONLY thing I would criticize is the karaoke at night is ear-ringing loud. Other than that, I love this place, and I keep bringing people there.
Vegetarian options: They do have veg options. I've taken a vegan friend there for a burrito.
Parking: There is usually street parking around, especially on the side of their building, or across Foothill.
Wheelchair accessibility: Should be easy to get inside, and they have plenty of low/regular-height tables.“
“Love they crabs, so fresh & the prices are the bomb , thank you “

“I hardly ever leave reviews, nevertheless I couldn’t help but to notice I agreed with a lot if not most of the reviews. First and foremost it is a great local bar the atmosphere and the vibes are great. You always feel comfortable and welcome by anyone ever there. I do have to acknowledge, however that the service sometimes can be slow and sometimes it takes me a good 5 to 10 minutes to be acknowledged while at the bar for a drink. I think this would be my only complaint. for some reason service sometimes for a drink can be a little slow. I must admit the bartenders here are some of the best. The cocktails are always tasty and delicious and I like the attitude they all greet me with every time I come. My favorite bartenders here happen to be JOSE and ERIC 👌🏾👌🏾“

“The praram sauce was delicious. They made the sauce vegetarian on request and it was absolutely delicious despite a modification. The veggies in the praram vegetables dish were cooked to perfection as well. Waiting for next visit 🤤
Vegetarian options: Truly vegetarian alternatives on request. At a lot of places the vegetarian swaps taste fishy (pun unintended). No such thing here, their vegetarian dishes are truly free from meat/fish. Thank u Pagarung 🙏“

“Rather expensive sushi with indoor seating as well as a large backyard patio. The omakase selections (chefs choice) are great, go for that and savor it. The rest of the menu is pretty standard for the price. Service is ok, can be slow when it's busy - just be aggressive about waving down the server.
Parking: Park on side streets, but don't leave visible stuff in your car. I've seen a lot of "Oakland diamonds" on the street at times.“

“Every time I come to town I stop for dinner. The paella is amazing. I also have an Anchor Steam every time I visit. I knew this time would be different with them (temporarily, hopefully) out of business. I so love this place.“

“I've only been here 3 times. Past 2 times i got the regular al pastor burrito no beans and let me tell you!!!! Best burrito by far in terms of size for the $$. Any time i order a burrito elsewhere, i have so much Tortilla left over and i dislike that. The burritos here are packed with deliciousness. I will say, if you don't eat pork, the breakfast is not for you. Every item under the menu for breakfast has pork. They don't do substitution either.“

“Missing the Daly City branch. I'm so glad my favorite pho place is in east bay now. Beef stew is my go to lots of meat. For the way pho restaurants charge nowadays I would say this place is fairly priced. No automatic gratuity. Nice parking space. Really must try“

“This is my families favorite chinese restaurant in Oakland. The food is authentic and delicious.
We usually eat in, but the place is dated and simple. So if the ambiance isnt important, this is the local place in this part of Oakland to come.
I dont eat pork or beef, so we mostly order veggie or chicken dishes. Always, egg fu yong, veggie mu shu, broccoli beef(broccoli is bright green, yet fully cooked), chicken chow mein, and for hubby mongolian beef. This is plenty for 3 adults, 2 kids, with enough leftovers for another day. Hubby traded for sweet & and sour shrimp, this time. It looked ok, but not impressive (breaded, which I dont eat). My son likes the spicy sweet sauced chicken, or kung pao chicken.
The fortune cookies are crisp, and the waitress always gives the kids candy.
Parking on MacArthur is a pain, but there is usually parking around the corner on the street, by the church on 38th.“

“I live in NYC, was visiting family in California. I heard about this place went and got a bunch borritos for take out for family. Tacos are huge, and made fresh as you wait. I'm not a fish eater but family loved the fish. I had a vegetable one and loved it. Went back the next morning and got another for my flight home.
Out door seating in rear. Plenty of tables, place is huge and great staff. Owner is really nice. Place is spotless, including restrooms.
Plenty of room for wheel chairs and street level entrance.
Vegetarian options: I had vegetarian burrito and it was huge and delicious
Kid-friendliness: Didn't look for a kids menu but there was a family there while waiting for my take out food.
Wheelchair accessibility: Street level entrance. Plenty of Maneuver. Easy access to restroom and out door seating.“

“Easily one of the most creative (dishes, flavor combinations), and one of the best, meals I've had in the Bay Area. So many standouts - snails of course (miso and mandarin!), pan con tomate (+pimenton), mussels, oysters, scallop tostada, Venezuelan pancake, fried quail. And the wine was excellent (the chilled red birthday wine). A gem!“
