“Make sure you triple check your oder. Today we ate at the Honolulu Bistro for the first time. The guy at the register claims he didn't rung us up for 2 sandwiches. At checking out he did say back our order. The recipe is not detailed either. The amount we paid was definitely for 2 sandwiches. We ended up sharing 1 sandwich and left.“

“The service was good and the food was overall very good, but there are some issues. The smoked poke was really great. The Kanpachi however, while being well cooked, was drowning in a potent coconut curry sauce that just overwhelmed. Good tasting but just way too much sauce. The restaurant was very open but that didn't stop the noise level from being off the charts. We had to move as we were originally seated next to a table of 6 that sounded like a table of 20. Lastly, the temp was too cold and my wife had to get a blanket. Our new table was right under a blasting set of air ducts I guess.“

“This is one of my favorite restaurants to visit every time I'm in Hawaii. Once again, we had an amazing experience filled with delicious food and warm Aloha from the friendly staff. Every dish was outstanding and the menu is full of unique and creative options. I love trying something new every time, and there are still so many items I want to explore! “My first time here after seeing them on tv. So glad the worker tied the bag of my 3 plates tightly and that they use strong plastic containers. I took a sharp turn and my bag flipped to the side. My food shifted a little in the container, but at least it didn’t spill out or leak out of the containers. Love the hamburger steak with crispy onions! Omg, the special parmesan chicken was huge!! This was ono too. Will definitely go back there again. ❤️“

“Fabulous food and table service. Making the reservation, however, and greeting and attentiveness of maître d' staffing left much to be desired. See my private note. Sunlight at 430PM is a bit hard to take at some of the outside tables. Any pull down shading possible?“

“My husband found this restaurant on Google as he wanted to try some authentic Hawaiian food. Waited maybe 5-10 minutes before we were acknowledged (the restaurant was empty). “Kau Kau is serving up delicious grinds consistently. The BBQ sauce on the ribs is some of the best I've ever tasted. Mac salad is kept separately so it doesn't get warm sitting next to the ribs and rice. Prices are fair. If you have never been, I strongly suggest you try it. The whole menu on point.“

“I like local restaurants and L&L is good with reasonable price. Chicken Cutlets is a little bit oily but Loco Moco is very good. Don’t expect super clean tables and chairs.The loco moco here is cheap, the amount is so large that you can't finish it (regular), and it's delicious. During lunch time (starting around 11:30am), there are a lot of locals working in the area, so it gets crowded, so the later hours are often empty.“

“I happened to find this place and decided to give it a try. The food had a comforting, homemade taste that really hit the spot. You can choose your type of rice, and for the side, you get to pick between seaweed or cucumber. It also comes with pickled ginger, which was a nice touch. Everything was good!“

“This is a hidden gem on one of the busiest streets in downtown Honolulu. The staff was super helpful and friendly. The food was amazing. Took my college basketball team there after a game. It was a great experience. Try the Kalbi beef burrito. Sweet chili sauce added finishing touches to a great burrito.\nPrices were reasonable $15-$20 for burritos and they were big. Bowls, tacos, and quesadillas also on the menu.“

“I just love they're fish burger, deep fried battered fish that is super tender inside with amazing onion tarter sauce & coleslaw with tender buns. It's unbelievable you must try it to believe it. They also are known for they're BBQ.“

“This is the first poke spot I’ve ever seen in a Walmart. I always have to grab my poke bowl and tai tea with boba. There food and service is always good. I definitely recommend this place. 😊❤️“

“This L&L got a facelift recently, so it looks a lot better than it used to. Overall the food is decent. They have a lot of special menu items that you can’t get at other locations. I got the Fried Garlic Chicken and it was tasty and extremely garlicky. Bring gum and/or mints for after the meal!“

“Classic Hawaii hole in the wall. This location is the birthplace of the franchise. BBQ Mixed Plate, Chicken Katsu, and BBQ Burgers are my go to. If you have not been to location in a while, feels like new owners. Portions are generous (love it when the Styrofoam container has a hard time staying closed) and reasonably priced. If you haven't yet, give it a try.“

“We ate at Hula tonight for the first time and Levin took care of us! He went above and beyond and made the experience for myself, my mom and daughter absolutely wonderful. His suggestions for entrees were on point and his customer service was the best we had since arriving on the island! Thank you so much!“

“This restaurant is a casual lunch type place with some indoor and outdoor seating. You can get food to go as well. I have a gluten allergy and the staff was knowledgeable and helped me choose safe selections. Much of the offerings are gluten-free so it is easy to create a delicious bowl. Everything was fresh and tasty. The service was friendly.“

“If you're ever looking to grab lunch on campus, I recommend checking out L&L at Paradise Palms. The food was mostly what I expected in terms of standard plate lunch, but the mac salad was especially great. The workers were also very friendly!“

“Penny's has been a family favorite for decades. We are addicted to the roast turkey plate (get the onions!).

When my wife was recovering in the hospital after our first born, her meal request was a Penny's roast turkey plate.

We stop in whenever we can.

No better low-key, family run grinds on the island!

Kid-friendliness: The staff is so sweet. Our last visit, they gave our kids little fun bags with crayons, coloring pages, etc.

“Good neighborhood spot to get some Hawaiian classics on the fly. We tried the spam and eggs and the loco love. Both were delicious and got the spot!

The interior of this location was a little dated and rundown but the food was good. The service was confusing because there was no clear spot where to order and they were taking orders from people behind us in line.

We ate on the fast food side before realizing there was a seated dining area in the back. Service may be better on that side.“

“This is a \\\"condensed\\\" or \\\"Express\\\" version of L\\u0026L with a limited menu. Their hours are 6:30am to 1:30pm. They're located in the First Insurance Company building on the corner of Ward Ave. and S. Hotel St.“

“Server was great working alone… wish they would hires more help, I saw couple of families in lined and left when service was slow. My wife and I visiting the island and this place was our hang out, busy then and still popular with the locals.“

“Honestly: I’m disappointed in *myself* for not finding this place sooner! Got the loco moco plate and let me just say- it’s not only packed full of food, but it’s also packed full of FLAVOR! The mac salad was absolutely on point as well. The young lady that assisted me at the counter, Taney, was an absolute delight, and shared her insight on the best “go-to” items on the menu with an added twist. :) I’m already excited for what I’ll try next!“

“Caught them at Windward Mall this past Saturday, April 9. Best Shoyu Pork….Ever! Prime Rib was da bomb and sooo tender! Very friendly too!“

“Ordered a regular plate of Mochiko Chicken. Mac salad was not great. I've had better in Oahu. Chicken was hot but tad on the dry side. Customer service wasn't the greatest either. The have plenty of parking and seating indoors if you'd like to eat in.“

“If you’re a L&L fan, you’ll enjoy using their app to order food prior to your arrival. We are staying in the Hawai’i Kai area and were pleased to find this L&L location. Easy to drive to, food was great as always, and the app made ordering for a group of 7 so easy…just order, drive, and pick up, no waiting! I have this 5 stars for everything except Atmosphere as we did not eat there and I did not want to mislead anyone on that element.“
