“The deep dish pizza was rich, cheesy, and packed. The crust was thick but still buttery and soft, which made it really satisfying. Each slice was filling, so it’s definitely a meal to share with friends or family. The place had a laid-back atmosphere and the staff were friendly, making it a spot worth visiting again.“

“Celebrated my wife’s birthday here with three other families, as we were in Chicago between baseball tournaments. Not only was Coda di Volpe able to accommodate a same day reservation for a large party, but they went above and beyond, from personalizing menus with a birthday wish, to adding a special touch on dessert. With four teenage boys in tow, the menu provided ample carbs and comfort for them while we enjoyed a broad sample of the offerings - all were very happy with their meals! Cocktails and wine selection was also on the mark. Kudos to Jeremy and his staff. We came all dressed in white and he told us he knew he wanted to do something special for our party… they knocked it out of the park! Looking forward to coming back to Chicago and making a beeline for this restaurant… a no-brainer.“

“We recently had dinner at Coalfire on Grand Ave. in West Town and really enjoyed their coal oven baked pizza. We dined early on a weekend evening so no problem with grabbing a table on a walk in basis. Opening hours are Indoor environs were urban modern with tables spaced nicely. Opening hours are 4pm to 10pm (Tue-Thurs) and noon to 10.30pm (Fri-Sun), closed on Mondays. Service was very friendly. Menu features a few salads as well as a list of pizzas. They also do a build your pizza custom order if preferred. We ordered the Jalapeno Pepperoni which was nicely baked thin crust with a good amount of char. Savoury tomato sauces, cheese, pepperoni and jalapeno were all good quality and tasty. This was a really good pizza, one we'd gladly return to reorder. Would also be happy to try other pizzas on the Coalfire menu.“

“I love this place and I love Giant. The crust is great, good texture and flavorful, and the cheese they use is top notch. Pepperonis were also high quality, if there’s a problem it lies with the sauce. There's hardly any, not even close to enough on either their tavern or NY style. Order the NY style with extra sauce. The tavern is so thin that there’s barely any room for sauce, if you care. Still solid tavern.“

“I have lived most of my life in Chicago not eating New York-style pizza, but this place opens a few years ago and it is becoming one of my favorites. I still eat a lot of other styles of pizza but for just one quick slice this is a go to. I had a friend recently turn me onto cheese pizza, and that is my favorite slice here. If you’re going to eat here, you have to make sure to fold your slice of pizza because that is the traditional way to eat this style of pizza. I hope you enjoy it.“

“We sat at the bar and loved that they had the college football games on, but what made it even better is that they were happy to change it to whatever we wanted to watch. Our waitress, Geniveve, was absolutely amazing—so sweet, attentive, and friendly. She was serving so many tables yet still made sure we felt taken care of. She honestly deserves a raise!

The chairs were comfortable, the atmosphere was clean, and the food came out quickly and hot. We ordered Nancy’s wings, the “A Lot of Meat” pizza, a kids’ portion of spaghetti with meat sauce, a Caesar salad, mozzarella sticks, and the cannolis. Everything was on point!
• Nancy’s wings: Flavorful with a really tasty sauce—definitely a hit, but wings as well!
• Mozzarella sticks: 8.5/10 – huge (almost like breadsticks) and loved the variety of dipping sauces.
• Caesar salad: 10/10 – hands down the best Caesar salad I’ve ever had!
• Pizza: 7/10 – solid, but pretty standard, nice crust on the pizza and color.
• Spaghetti with meat sauce: 7.5/10 – a classic, tasty, and satisfying, the meat in the sauce was yummy!
• Cannolis: 6/10 – the filling was thick and rich, and the shell had a nice crunch. They were massive—about the size of a mozzarella stick but even thicker.

The pesto and pizza sauce were a tiny bit on the salty side, but overall the flavors were so good. Great spot to hang out, relax, and enjoy good food with awesome service! Overall a solid 4.0 food spot!“

“We were excited to try Bonci, but the experience was jarring from the moment we walked in. Instead of the welcoming ambiance you’d expect at a Roman-style pizzeria, we were blasted with deafening Spanish music—so loud it was impossible to hear my date. If I wanted a Roman pizza, I definitely didn’t sign up for a Dominican jungle soundtrack. It completely ruined the atmosphere.

Now, the pizza itself is fantastic—no complaints there. But the service? Terrible. The guy behind the counter didn’t understand English and kept asking me the same question over and over. I told him multiple times that I wanted four slices, all the same size. Each time, he asked, “How much?” It felt like an absurd game of broken telephone.

Honestly, the service in this city is consistently awful, and Bonci is no exception. It’s a shame that such great pizza is marred by such an incompetent staff and terrible atmosphere.“

“I was visiting Chicago and stumbled upon this place looking for a quick bite for lunch. It was so good I went back two more times, and brought friends on the subsequent visits. Nothing fancy, just a great giant slice of Chicago style thin crust pizza and friendly staff. Not only that, it's priced great -- two slices and two drink for $15. They have some tables so you can eat in. Would definitely go back on my next visit and would definitely recommend.“

“As a fairly new pizzeria in Chicago their pizza is delicious. We got the Paddy Is Our Daddy pizza and a Margherita pizza. Both amazing. We got an Apple Italian salad to share. The only thing is they don’t have any appetizers but they said they’re working on it. Highly recommend.“
