“We got the egg omelette with fried chicken. It’s 4 pieces of karaage on top of a Japanese omelette over rice. It’s served with what I think was a cup of miso. Or something similar. The chicken was pretty good. It’s dark meat. The omelet was good too. Overall it was a bit bland, but much preferable to too much salt. I’d get it again. We snagged a spot by the window so we got to eat with a view of the skyline, but it’s busy so don’t count on it“

“Not a big fan of the fish balls but will definitely be back for the rice noodles. Get them with mixed sauce: peanut, soy, hot, and oyster sauce. The owner is a vibe. There is a small area for dine in, with 4 chairs, but food comes in a plastic container that's easy to eat from elsewhere. They do take card but with a fee.“

“What a treasure! Everything we ate here was amazing, the lightest scallion pancake ever, the spiciest soft shell crab, tea smoked duck that was like the best Carolina barbecue ever. The bean curd with pepper oil. All of it. Cocktails were banging too. And the servers were all fantastic too. Even the ink was top shelf!“

“Spicy Village was a wonderful place to have a Christmas meal! Actually, I'd like to rename it "Spicy Cozy Village" if a spicy environment can also be cozy! To start with, they were very gracious by accepting a reservation for 8 people at 6:00. Then they came outside and took our order even before we sat down and so the food was nearly ready by the time we had taken our coats off! The festivities kicked off with a plate of crispy peanuts, which ended up being the chosen appetizer, main course, and dessert for the little guy in our party. We then progressed to delicious dumplings, sesame chicken, spicy lamb huimei, and other delectable specialties! What was so amazing about the experience is that despite packing lots of people into a relatively small square foot area, it did not feel claustrophobic at all; rather it was comfortable and cozy, like sitting at a big table for a family meal at your house (even if it was take-out!!). Overall, Spicy Village was a terrific place for Christmas dinner - and I'm strongly considering coming back here for the 8 days of Hanukkah too!“

“Insane value in 2026. Wrappers are handmade and you can taste the difference. Wholesale/bulk frozen goods are super well priced.
The main mall entrance has been boarded up as of May 2026 so you’ll need to make your way around to a sketchy looking side entrance, then into the basement via the main stairwell.“

“Stopped by for dinner while in the NYU area and it feels like the kind of place that just fits the neighborhood.
Very casual setup, nothing fancy. A lot of students coming through, people eating solo or in small groups — pretty easy spot to drop into without thinking too much.
Food is more on the home-style side. Not overly heavy or overly seasoned, which actually makes it easier to come back to. Portions are decent, and prices are reasonable for this part of the city.
It’s not really a “destination” restaurant, but more of a reliable, everyday kind of place. If you’re around NYU, I can see this becoming part of a regular rotation.“

“Insane drinks made by Bonnie (the Jasmine Fall and the Cherry Old Fashioned) the flavors were unlike anything else we’ve ever had. Will be dreaming about the Jasmine Fall. Same with the food - absolutely amazing dumplings. Also - drinks were buy one get one free because it was late night. Bonnie is the best - she was so helpful and kind when it came to helping us narrow down what we wanted!“

“You can buy a pineapple pork bun (so fast with cash your friends are shocked) put it in your backpack and travel across three states, pull it out slightly squished at 3am, and it'll still taste so fabulous you won't want to brush your teeth so you can savor the taste for longer. “Walked in for a quick luncheon on my day off. I was seated in the front section by Michelle. Thoroughly enjoyed the preps- different flavors and excellent presentation. Attentive and friendly service by Michelle was impeccable! A bit too loud neighboring tables, but food and service was decadent. Eclectic menu. Can’t wait to be back and try their other dishes. “Thankful that the restaurant was able to take our reservation, day of, on Mother's Day no less, for over 20+ people. C'mon now, at a Chinese restaurant, this is top-notch service, deserving of 5 stars for that alone! The food was good - I do think SoCal (626) Chinese food is better, but it's right there and it hit the spot. Did I mention they took our reservation, day of, on Mother's Day? Good stuff!“

“I was there at Jian Nan Syosset, Long Island. Everything went great!! But, those took the orders needed to be more educated to understand each dishes. We were a fairly larger group than standard party size. Some dished were small and some dim sum served with small quantities, like 3 or 4. Those who order for the large group, should give suggestion to order multiple orders for the same dish. So, each one in the group can have at least one.“

The dim sum was excellent. Fresh, well prepared, and full of flavor. Each dish came out hot and properly timed. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in consistency and quality.
The wonton soup was equally strong. Clean, balanced broth with well-made wontons and great texture. Comforting without being heavy.
Service was fast and courteous. The staff was attentive, efficient, and genuinely pleasant. Food arrived quickly without feeling rushed.
The pricing is very reasonable, especially given the quality and portion sizes. Strong value across the board.
If you are looking for reliable, well-executed dim sum in New York, DAO is a solid choice. Professional operation, good people, great food. Five stars.“

“The food was great and when they accidentally forgot one of our Shumai dumplings, they replaced it with 2, which I thought was really nice.
