“It has been a long time since I’ve gone to a teriyaki restaurant because my wife has resisted it. Our friends wanted to go here and, I was excited, and my wife agreed. We both had the chicken teriyaki lunch special, which come with chicken teriyaki on a bed of white rice, a side of either sweet and sour chicken or three pot stickers, and a small side salad with a house dressing. I just assumed the sweet and sour chicken was what I receive in a Chinese restaurant. Boy was I wrong! It was like way over cooked fried chicken. It was so hard that it was difficult to eat and there was absolutely no sweet or sour flavor. My wife said the pot stickers were soft but did not taste very good. Fortunately, the teriyaki chicken was very good and adding the sauce to the rice made the rice very good. The house sauce on the salad was very good. The lunch special came with a soft drink and the entire lunch was $13.50. The lady behind the counter was very nice but speaks Japanese and very little English. I tried to tell her the chicken was almost inedible but she had no idea what I was saying. We do not live in Portland so there is almost no chance we will eat there again but I would recommend the chicken teriyaki with fried rice, which our friends had and they said it was very good.“

“Delicious, fresh sushi!! If I’m ever in the area again I will go back!! Atmosphere feels very authentic to the culture! Fabulous service! Easy-to-order form to get what you want. It is quick. Staff is kind and attentive. The waitress was making sure everyone was comfortable and had what they needed.
I ordered the California roll, crunch munch and the lion king! All were fantastic with fabulous flavor!
Kid-friendliness: I didn’t have children in my party but a party near me hand two children and the staff treated them well while they were trying different foods and flavors.“

“The husband and I were on a ramen rampage, and the weather was our perfect excuse. Then, out of nowhere, we stumbled upon this restaurant. The service was spot-on, the food arrived in record time, and that ramen? Sheer perfection. The broth was a flavor bomb, the chashu was tender and divine, and those noodles? Freshly made and sublime. We left feeling like we just discovered ramen nirvana.“

“This was our first time here. The restaurant looked very clean. I didn't get the name of the lady taking our order, but she was really nice and helpful with helping us to decide. All 4 of us enjoyed the food here.
The katsu was super tender and moist and reminded me of katsu in Japan. If there's one thing I hate, its overcooked katsu, but theirs was cooked just right.
I got the unagi beef don. The unagi was thick and tasty, and it was a pretty good size piece. The one thing I didn't care for was the beef. Unfortunately, it lacked flavor even with the shichimi togarashi sprinkled on top. But because everyone loved their meals and everything else was tasty, I still have 5 stars. We'll most likely be back again.“

“Anyone can seemingly make sushi seem better by making it more complex, but the real test is whether they can take the simple and make it excellent. Sushi-Ki-ichi does just that. They stick to the simple offerings, leading to an experience that feels less Americanized than other Japanese restaurants. That's not to say I don't love some level of creativity, but you don't need it here. That's because the family that owns Sushi Ki-ichi wants to create an authentic meal - a notion that was confirmed for sure when we had a conversation with the owner. In fact, they take quality to the next level with their equipment and efforts they take to make sure that what they serve is the highest quality, including specific freezers for the fish. We didn't try Sushi Ki-ichi for the first couple of years because we figured that the previous restaurant, a Chinese buffet that had gone downhill and fallen off the cliff, had rebranded and reopened as something new. Now I feel that for those first couple of years, we missed out. This has quickly become my favorite place in Portland. I look forward to any trips I take across town from Vancouver to Tigard, and make a point to stop in and grab a bite.“

“This place is one of a kind. The food was deliciously balanced and nuanced. Every dish we indulged in was so wonderful. It is a charming intimate spot and will be a go to whenever we visit Portland. The staff was also wonderful and so accommodating. Thank you again for the wonderful experience“

“One of my favorite restaurants! I just love a place that does one dish and does it well. Every time I go to the Portland art museum I always come here afterwards. This food is just so warm and filling I would highly recommend getting the roasted vegetable add-on. The staff is so lovely too. I also love that they have this melon cream soda. It makes me feel like I’m in Japan. Also! Occasionally they have free barley tea and that stuff is delicious!“

“I was looking for a place to pick up an onigiri in the morning from time to time, and this place opens at 9am which is great! Really cute shop, they have taiyaki, musubi, and a nice variety of onigiri, and it is affordable and exactly what you want. There is really nothing quite like this in the Portland area...its a little treasure. The staff are so friendly, i will be sure to recommend this place to all my passengers, friends, and family!“

I chose to try Galbi as I haven’t had it for a while and people said it is good. It did not disappointed. Will come back to try japchae wity bulgogi beef next time.
Big portion for the price. Will be my to go place for my Galbi/ bulgogi/ Japchae fix in the future! Like the portion of the salad too.“

“A storefront teriyaki place with fine food and very nice, helpful staff. I really like their yakisoba, the noodles have a good consistency and the chicken is tender and flavorful. I've been going there for years, and they remember my kids and send special greetings and dishes for them. A real family treat!
Parking: City of Tualatin parking lot a block to the south, don't park in the vets club lot right behind the building as the vets will have your car towed!“

“We love the food here and always take friends and family when they are in town. The service was extremely slow this time. Ramen came out for those who ordered it way before our sushi was ready. We had an amazing experience over the summer and the last two times have been lacking in service and atmosphere. It was busy, we had a party of 7. Seated pretty quickly, but the rest was slow. Other tables received orders before we did. Hope to continue going and have better luck next time.“

“Quaint no frills Japanese restaurant serving home made udon. You must come during lunch hours and try the Teisho lunch set which offers a rotating fish dish depending on what's in season alongside an assortment of side dishes including sashimi. The quality of food here is just as good if not better than what you can find in Japan and don't forget to get a pint of Kirin on draft served in an ice cold mug. The waitresses are also very kind and will make sure you feel welcome and enjoy your meal.“

“The staff here is fantastic! It’s your “average” teriyaki, nothing special but not bad at all, decent price for the portions and you get potstickers with your dish if you’d like for an additional $1-2. Not my favorite sauce and the spicy version isn’t spicy at all.“

“A Japanese restaurant run by someone from Osaka. While there is some so-called American-style sushi, there is also a lot of Japanese sushi, and perhaps because it is near the sea, the ingredients are very delicious. The sushi I brought home (tuna, sea urchin, salmon roe, somehow dragon) was also great ?
I will stop by again when I come to Portland.“

“I don’t how this nigga Ricky make his sushi but ever since I decided to try it on DoorDash one day I get sushi from here at least 1-2 times a week. I’ve never been there as I’ve only ordered through DoorDash but the consistency it has and the fact that it tastes better than most places when ordered online def says something. The dragon roll is my go to, best I’ve had for the price. I usually don’t spend more $15 on food but Ricky got me spending at least $30 and I’m happy every damn time. I have never left a food review but I ordered some tonight and got some amazing free miso soup, cheers to all the people there“

“This place was adorable!! And the food was amazing quality and priced so well for the experience! It may take a bit for things to come out but we got a ton of fried things which take longer! The appetizers come out right away!! Especially because the fried stuff is a type of katsu style. Honestly the best deep fried rolls I’ve ever had!! We got the st. John’s Bridge roll and the fish was so yummy!! I’m a real stickler about fish quality but this fish was so good!! I really hope as they get popular they won’t ever change the quality of their rolls because this will keep me coming back for more!!“

“Sushi Kata is a long established Milwaukie Japanese kitchen serving truly authentic Japanese dishes at a reasonable price, even for the current economy!
I spent a number of years in various prefectures of Japan and Sushi Kata brings the flavors and quality of the food back to me each time I go there.
From the sashimi and nigiri, rolls and hand rolls, to the katsu curry and thick udon noodles. Sushi Kata is the best Japanese food experience you'll find in the Portland area. Others may have a prettier atmosphere, but if it's authentic Japanese cuisine you are looking for, Sushi Kata is the place.“

“This place was a little hidden gem. It’s very hard to find. The hostess was awesome and place makes you feel like you’re in a little ramen joint in Japan. The food was also great! The after taste of the ramen was delicious. The food portions are on the smaller side but that’s probably a good thing to keep us from getting obese lol.“

“I used to eat here alot over a decade ago while attending PSU and the food and service was always amazing. A very kind lady used to run it. I was in the area handling some permitting and stopped by once again. I was surprised to see her son still running it and decided to get a plate. I absolutely recommend you try this place 100%! Great friendly service, plenty of parking, great food at a great price...the prices are almost the same as 15 years ago! The food is delicious, comes quick, big portions, and overall an absolute must eat when near the area. You won't regret it!“

“I love sushi avenue it is my favorite place for sushi!
The food: The hurricane roll is my favorite and they even let me order it without being fried although it's absolutely delicious either way. Please note they are very accommodating just explain if you want something changed up save on the side, extra sauce , no cucumber ect. Just adk. Two other rolls I like are the Canby and wilsonville.. really it comes down to what you like their fish is good! Also bonus if you have someone who doesn't like sushi they have a really good dish called creamy chicken yaki udon noodles and is so yummy! It's thick udon noodles and chicken in a creamy sauce with vegetables: cabbage, onions, broccoli and mushroom (I might be missing a vegetable or two). They also have teriyaki chicken and other non sushi options! They do have a kids menu they have the options of sushi or bento with chicken teriyaki. Kind if limited options for kiddos.
The restaurant: One thing I will say is that the entrance area is pretty small, but dine in is usually doable, and of course you can always get it to go. It's in a strip mall and is just a small business nothing fancy here but delicious food!! Easy parking they do have a parking lot. 😊
The service: It is great! Nice staff and reasonable wait time. You will not find your water glass empty here! Also they are very kind if you want a roll made a certain way they are so kind and accommodating!
Pictures will be added next time I go!! Cheers!“

“You can tell this chef is very passionate about cooking. Each dish is plated so beautifully. The menu is seasonal with high end local produce from the farmers market. The staff is very warm. The interior is very nice, with very nice furniture(eg marble or quartz tables, I believe). It’s not inherently the chefs fault, but at this price point, the food is not what we really crave? Also, we were kind of feeling hungry with such a carb light menu. We just split one medium meat dish, so we do eat less protein than average? But I feel like it’s not enough food for vegetarians fyi. They did GRACIOUSLY make us some handmade tortillas off the menu and essentially didn’t charge us. Plus, we received complementary dessert wine tasting, since we complained about wanting some bread or tortillas. One bummer about this was that no one followed up about our request until we asked three different servers. Overall, I think this could be a great place. But just not for us at the moment.“

“Perfection in the mind's eye in every regard.
Flavor, freshness, execution of literally every single detail (even ones you don't think about until you're made to notice), and the fact it's all accessibly priced kinda made me cry when i tried food from here the other day.
For lack of a quicker comparison, this is like Elden Ring coming out after years of being told the best you can get is sysco-sourced AAA reboots of the same "deliverable" concepts.
I want to experience this place's food for the rest of my life.
I just woke up, but this was very much in my dreams last night after yesterday's dinner, so I was compelled to just get something out. I'll come back some other time to detail the experience.“

“Chicken Teriyaki 8/10.
This spot is one of those hidden gems that people call a "hole in the wall," but trust me, the food is really tasty. It's pretty tiny, but if you swing by during your lunch break and get it to go, it's manageable. The chicken teriyaki gets an 8 out of 10, and the veggies that come with it are tasty and not overcooked. However, the steak teriyaki isn't as impressive because they use a lower-quality cut of beef, and it's chopped up too small. The older Caucasian guy at the counter is always super friendly, while the younger Mexican staff are just okay. They’re not rude, but you can tell they’re just there to take your order and move on. Overall, I'm really happy I discovered this place, and I would definitely recommend it.“

“My favorite sit-down sushi spot on Alberta. If you get the Alberta bento box with some miso on the side, it is enough for a light lunch for two.
They seem to take great care in preparing their fish, and while I do enjoy stopping here every now and again, it is a little on the spendy side. Hey, I guess that is just sit-down sushi restaurants for ya.“

“I went inside with the intention to take a photo for this review, but the food was so good it was gone before I realized I hadn’t yet snapped a shot. I tried to order off the main menu and the server kindly directed me to a tiny paper pamphlet for vegan options. It had way more dishes listed than I expected. I ordered the pad Thai with soy curls, and it was delicious! The server was knowledgeable about vegan stuff (“the teriyaki has honey in it”) and the service was prompt.“

“We were pleasantly surprised after we took a chance with this adorable restaurant. It's tucked away in a small shopping center off of 82nd in Clackamas.
The service was quick and friendly. They have an extensive Sushi menu, as well as other Japanese offerings like Tempura, Teriyaki, and Ramen. The prices are reasonable for the fare. We arrived at 730 on a Sunday night. By 8PM, they had more than half the tables full. This place was exactly what we wanted. We will be back.“

“The service was friendly and the food tasty! They give big portions, so I was able to divide this into two meals. The chicken was flavorful, and they have a condiment bar at the counter where you can add hot sauce (I did). The woman at the counter was pleasant to talk to. This is a good place for take out if you want a tasty lunch on the go.“

“Atmosphere off the rip, is something that must be noted! Incredible. If you've heard of Janken then you have seen the ambiance and the famous white cherry blossom in the middle. Food was fantastic. Service was phenomenal. I've seen and heard that the portion sizes were small, not my opinion at all. We were more than full leaving this place with leftovers to take home. We ordered an array of items off the menu and we were pleased with every single one. The A 5 wagyu was impressive and the bingsu for dessert would be the highlights for myself. I would certainly recommend this place and would most definitely be back to try other items on the menu.“

“We ordered sushi burritos from this food cart, which had recently increased their prices by $5. We were hesitant to order at first, but we caved because we were craving them and one of us had never tried them before. The service was great! They were out of chicken, but they offered to make us a custom burrito for a small upcharge. However, they later found that they had enough chicken after all, so we didn't have to pay extra. The wrap itself didn't hold up very well. It came apart a few times, which made eating the burrito a bit messy. The seaweed didn't wrap around the sushi fully, which also contributed to the messiness. The parchment paper was also a bit weak, which made it difficult to hold the burrito together.Overall, the food was delicious and filling. However, we don't think it's worth the new price of $15 for a food cart item. We would be more likely to order it again if it was priced at $12. The price increase from $10 to $15 is a bit steep, and we think it's not quite worth the extra money for a food cart item.“

“What a treat to experience a packed restaurant and still get delicious food in a timely manner, plus the burger hit the spot for those non-sushi lovers. But back to the sushi, what's not to love about the green machine. I could order all 3 varieties and be completely happy! Start your meal with the cauliflower and savor each morsel!
