Nice spot, tonight we had the beet/fennel & feta salad, soft shell crab & pesto pasta. All were excellent! Topping it off with TIRAMISU! One of the best drop in spots in Richmond when VCU is out of session.
Not an extensive menu, but well prepared and oh so good. Service is friendly and quick, though limited seating requires some planning ahead or hanging around waiting. One can be served at the (small) bar if impatient to wait for a table. And yes, espresso is served.
We recently moved back to Richmond after being away for many years. As with many things lately, my hipper-than-us 80 year old parents introduced us to this spot. Loved the vibe, the service and especially the food. I order the whole branzino because I didn't want pasta and also because I wanted to say I ate the "whole branzino" It actually was just the right amount of food. The whole fish served on top of mixed greens was divine! Also split a limoncello tart which was good, but ended up envious of my mother's tiramisu. We had a reservation for 4 and by the time we left around 9ish, the place was full and hopping with lots of couples eating at the bar.
Superb Italian fare. Consider making a reservation in the weekends because it's a small space and very popular. The squid ink fettuccine with shrimp and scallops is divine. Servers are industry pros.
The pizza is over-cooked and too salty. The fish soup is not "fish soup", It is a seafood soup with squid.

One of the best dinners i have been so far. Located in a really nice neighborhood and with lovely interior. The food was really tasty and surprisingly cheap. Service and staff were also helpful and friendly!
Great food, however my waitress was rude tonight. She asked me if I wanted a box for my spaghetti and I told her kindly not yet as I was still eating and my boyfriend said he wanted one for the bread. she came back with a box and took my plate as I was still eating and put my spaghetti into even though i had not finished. she then took my fork and I could not keep eating. Love the food not the waitress she was wearing a pink top and brown pants. Will still go back because I love the food but I hope next time I do not get the same waitress.
The food her is very good and reasonably priced. However last time I was there I ordered a slice of carrot cake and never got it. That being said it was 1am and I didn't really need it. We left before our whole party left, so I have no idea if they paid for it.
Great beer selection. Sit bar-side if you're ok with a little noise because the atmosphere is much better. I've gotten the loaded spaghetti 90% of the time I go and it's a monster. I usually get 3 meals out of it. Got a grilled chicken sandwich last visit and it was equally as delicious, but more reasonable portion. Really love this spot in the Fan!
Worst service ever experienced!!! My server and a lady claiming to be the manager informed me that I could not drink from MY aluminum cup (which was filled with water). I didn't like it, but I agreed. I put the cup out of my reach AND dumped the water out. They asked me to put the cup under the table and remove it from the table after it was clear that I was not using it. They insisted! That was probably my 10th time going to that place and referred at least 5 people there. I am sending each one of them a copy of this review. What is the difference between it being on the table and under it? I don't need to spend my money there and will NOT refer anyone else!

Best non-traditional Italian grinder (and potentially best overall sandwich) in Richmond. Great atmosphere and space. Get there before noon.
I had dinner here last night, have actually been several times for both lunch and dinner since their opening. The food is uniformly excellent. You order at the counter and they bring it to you at your table, or you can get carry out on most anything. This is not fast food, however. For instance, last night I had a great risotto with fresh peas, parmegan and prosciutto, with a pear and blue cheese salad, while my wife had a ragout of beef with seared mushrooms over pasta. Plenty to take home too! There is also a type of deli counter, where you can purchase meat or veggie-based salads, house made breads, cookies and pastries, wine and beer and other tasty items for use with your own cooking. The staff is friendly and helpful, but again, remember--not fast food. Grab a beer or a glass of wine and enjoy the great views of Grace Street while your dinner is being prepared. You will certainly be in for a treat.
Excellent!! Amazing sandwiches... The Chicken Caprese is a must try. Knowledgeable and super friendly staff. Big, open space with a relaxed vibe.
Lovely little market and bistro. Great breakfast and lunch selections, and the portions are hefty too. Definitely a place to go
Always friendly staff, almost always busy...they serve good food...and always satisfied when I leave.

The pizza was THE BEST PIZZA I've ever had. Most authentic flavor, steaming hot, and absolutely delicious. Cooked to perfection. The service was on point. Food came out within minutes. Both owners checked in with our table to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Wish I lived closer, but then I'd probably die from overeating. Gelato was delicious as well. Sorry I didn't take pictures, will definitely take some next time.
Wow! I had the margherita pizza and the beef pepperoni pizza. They were delicious. I can't wait to go back and try all the rest. Amazing food, great service, great drinks and a fun atmosphere. My new favorite pizza joint.
Great food, fast, the staff is very engaging and polite. Great place to eat and is very good looking. The pizza is made in a wood oven that enhances the flavor.
Awesome pizza. The place has a lot of energy. Plenty of parking for a downtown Richmond location between the parking lot and the street. Here's a secret. Order at the bar instead of the normal line.
Some of the best pizza I have ever had! Staff is very friendly and I love the atmosphere at the restaurant.

First time here, and the staff was so friendly. They went out of their way to answer any questions we had and make our experience great. The pasta is delicious and super filling. Would definitely recommend!
We ordered several different types of pasta for a rehearsal dinner. Everyone loved everything, none left over. Great tasting, pastas made on site, can cater to dietary restrictions. Few tables to eat at the location, but more of a market and take out spot.
Great fresh pasta, can't be beat. The sauces are alright, I feel that my homemade sauces are as good or better. However, I don't know how nor do I have the proper tools to make fresh pasta, this is my go-to spot. The frozen (freshly made) ravioli is also super delicous.
Delicious homemade pasta, bread, sauces, cured meats, and more - for takeout or dine in. Fantastic and affordable wine selection. Best of all is the service. This is a gem in The Fan!
Not quite the authentic Italian pasta I was hoping for but honestly for the price, I would definitely go again. I had the carbonara with black pepper linguine, which was delicious but a bit on the oily side. My friend had the chicken rosé with roasted garlic fettuccine, which I liked better actually. All in all, a great RVA place for cheap, delicious food!
