“If you are looking for a true Italian experience in San Diego, look no further than Vinarius! We worked with Giuseppe (owner) to host our wedding celebration here back in March, 2023. From the beginning, he was amazing to work with. Incredibly positive and accommodating from the start, we couldn’t have asked for more. The wedding ceremony was planned to be outside and of course, it rained that day. Guiseppe and his staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, allowed us to have the small ceremony inside the restaurant on short notice and made an incredible meal to follow. Our guests were blown away and we couldn’t have been happier. We recommend Vinarius to everyone we know and that is thanks to Giuseppe and his awesome staff. Grazie mille!”

I got a sugar free vanilla latte and a chocolate almond croissant. The coffee is delish and the croissant( from Bread and Cie) hit the spot. I had a nice chat with the lovely woman who owns the business. I can tell by her choices and her website she is offering really good quality to her customers. Give Snapshot a shot! Finjan Coffee Shop Co. 9119 Clairemont Mesa Blvd g, San Diego Coffee Shops • $

“Well, I don't live anywhere near Finjan, but I do have to go very near there about once a month for appts. Today was the day I stopped in to try their coffee. It was such a wonderful experience. I didn't want to go to the "usual" coffee places. I ordered a Salted Pistachio Iced Latte. While I waited, I was able to watch them make the typical Turkish Coffees in the hot sand pit which was so fun and interesting! The employees were so nice and helpful. If you want a "fast" cup of coffee, go somewhere else. Here, you will get an EXCEPTIONAL cup of coffee and homey, fun experience. Take a few minutes, slow down and enjoy this amazing place. Oh, I tried the Pistachio Baklawa. I'm Greek and make Baklava (In Greek) all the time, and this was delicious. Sad that it's not near my home. Would I make a special trip to come back? ABSOLUTELY! I will also bring my friends!!!”

“First of all, it is extremely difficult to make a reservation. ???

It took us TWO YEARS to finally dinning at this exquisite restaurant.??

I deeply appreciate this waitress to allow me to record this video. ❤️❤️❤️

The service is absolutely excellent! And it is not bad at all to enjoy your omakase on the patio. They have an under table heater so you won't feel cold.???

Parking is only street parking.

This humble looking Japanese restaurant is actually a Michelin One Star.

The only way to make a reservation is via their reservation partner. They will send you an email notification like two hours ahead of your reservation.

However, you have to really "fast hand" to confirm your reservation. If you are like a sloth, you will never be able to complete your reservation.???

And, they will charge a despite of $50/ person when the reservation is confirmed.”

Ciccia Osteria 2233 Logan Ave, San Diego Italian • $$

“My wife and I eat at Ciccia’s regularly but this is our first review after 4 years. Sorry Francesca and Mario! (In my defense I practically never ever write a review.) We keep coming back for the food, ambiance and hospitality. **We’ve gone 3 times in the last week! The crab gnocchi is my wife’s favorite. I get something different almost every time. Every visit I ask Mario about the specials as I like to sample the beef and/or fish (Branzino!) they prepare in addition to pasta. Try the Tomahawk steak if it’s a special that day (call ahead) and you will be amazed. Too many times we fill up on appetizers like mushroom flan, breaded zucchini, calamari, antipasto, and the choices go on! But that’s what to-go containers are for. So much good food to eat at Ciccias we tend to order too many things. It is simply fun to dine there. Once you’re inside the restaurant area (patio area or indoor area) the ambiance is quaint and cozy. Ciccia’s is not big and it’s always filled, but we never feel like it’s too crowded. The energy is always fun and upbeat. Which makes people stay awhile, so let me recommend getting reservations. We’ve had to wait 10-15 minutes but nothing’s perfect! If you want a breezy quick dinner before going off to an event you may want to go to Ciccia’s on another night. Hospitality is what you would expect of a small Italian restaurant run by the owners. Terrific!! If it’s your first time, read their story on the website before you go. They are bona fide top chefs who followed their dreams to open their own place. What a gem it is tucked inside Barrio Logan. One thing regulars may notice is that staff doesn’t appear to turn over much as I’ve seen the same faces working there for years. I think that reflects well on the restaurant. I don’t take pictures of food very often but last night I did. We stopped by at around 9 just to get dessert and a cocktail. My wife had the ricotta cake with apricot and habanero sauce (wow!) and I had cassata siciliana which is traditional cake from Sicily. Pretty to look at and yes, it’s delicious. They do a good job with making an Old Fashioned, which always pairs well with dessert 😜 Buon appetito!”

“I have got to say…. I am so happy we decided to do this for our pup, Cash. We have a 6 month old Rottie and I was so happy to introduce these products. First thing given was the rabbit foot. He played with it for a couple minutes to eventually devouring it! Next was the Lamb Trachea. Again, being foreign, he played with it for a couple of minutes and then devoured it. My boy devoured the rabbit head and Cow ear I loved being able to see the teeth. To know that my boy is gaining these nutrients as a chew is awesome. Those are the only four items we have tried. He has eaten three rabbit feet, one cow ear, one rabbit head and two tracheas. So happy we made this decision. I now live in North Dakota but I am from SD and love that we’re able to support a small company. Would love to continue supporting the best ways possible. Keep up the great work!!”

Parking: There are not many parking spaces for the taco shop. Most of the slots are for the shops in the small center and hard to find a spot most of the time . Also hard to find parking on the street. Your best bet would be to go in the drive through and go to eat somewhere else.”

I called Kona Kakes on Friday hoping for a cake by Sunday, I was told they are closed on Sunday, so they could have it ready on Saturday. We were enjoying the zoo Saturday and I completely forgot about the cake. It was after store hours but I tried to reach them by phone anyways, the owner answered and said she would wait for us to arrive. This in itself was truly amazing, but the cake! The cake was beautiful, delicious, moist, decadent, and extremely flavorful! We had the Caramel Macadamia Nut Cake. Everyone and most of all, my daughter loved the cake! “Juan Jasper’s Wine Bistro - A Golden Hill Treasure

Don’t let the simple “wine bar and restaurant” description fool you - Juan Jasper’s is the kind of place that turns first-time visitors into regulars before they’ve finished their first glass of wine. Tucked away in Golden Hill, this cozy spot has mastered what so many other places try to manufacture: genuine community.

Let’s talk about the food, because it deserves the spotlight. They serve what might just be the best fries in San Diego - no small claim in a city full of great food. Their burger? It’s a standout served with bordelais. The menu changes regularly, offering a thoughtful selection of global classics that pair perfectly with their wine selection.

Speaking of wine, Juan Jasper’s maintains an impressive and ever-rotating selection of wines from around the world. Whether you’re staying to enjoy a glass (or bottle) with your meal or picking something up to take home, their knowledgeable staff will help you find exactly what you’re looking for.

But what truly sets this place apart is the atmosphere. Walk in and you’ll likely be greeted with a hug rather than a formal hello. Regulars welcome newcomers like old friends, making introductions all around. It’s the kind of place where solo diners end up joining other tables, where conversations flow freely between strangers, and where everyone seems to be having a wonderful time together—even former strangers.

This isn’t a pretentious wine bar or an exclusive club - it’s a neighborhood gem where great food, excellent wine, and genuine hospitality come together to create something magical. If you’re looking for a new favorite spot in San Diego, Juan Jasper’s should be at the top of your list.”

“Server was kind. Nice atmosphere. Dress code does not seem to be strictly enforced, which could be a pro or a con depending on your preference. Free onion bread was quite tasty. The 16 oz ribeye had an incredible crust on it. The steaks don't come with any sides, but the portions are so big you will be stuffed regardless so it's not really a problem (other than forgoing a balanced diet). The only quibble is that I had to wait about half an hour after finishing up before I was able to pay the bill and leave. I imagine this is less of a problem if you're with someone else but it's a bit awkward to be sitting around as a solo diner.”

“The Prestige - Magic Lounge & Showroom, San Diego is a magical experience that i would say everyone should experience in there lives. It is so amazing. I give it 5 Star Plus. You can swing by and get a handcrafted drink and watch some of the best magicians in the world entertain you, on the world famous closeup stage, or you can reserve at spot for the dinner show, which i say is the best. its a whole experience, you get a multi course meal, which is the best. The Chef at Presige is World Renown. He is amazing, and artist with food. The food and the plating is top notch. Im a mac and cheese guy and its the best mac and cheese i have ever had. Also the prime rib is so delicious and mouth watering too. They have so many options for food choices, you can even add more food options if you want more courses of food. the magic in the dinner show is spell binding for sure. the magicians that you see on fool us and on agt and on tv shows, many of them are the magicians on the stage during the theater dining show. the theatre is so intimate and so comfortable. every seat is a good seat. also the decor is so beautiful too. if you go bring your camera, because you are going to take many pictures, trust me. they have many banners of famous magicians from the past. they do an amzing job honoring the giants in magic, and also at the bar area, tv playing with footage of magic greats too . its like disneyland, the staff, bar tenders, servers, back of house, all the house magicians, do a top notch job, they work so hard to provide the best service.

Slices are cooked upon ordering for supreme freshness. I especially like the Lussuria - prosciutto, black pepper, mashed potato, mozzarella and olive oil.

“Carbon is easily one of the best restaurants in San Diego! My boyfriend and I had an amazing Valentine’s Day dinner there—great service, delicious drinks, and incredible food. I ordered the pistachio campanelle, which was an easy 11/10, and my boyfriend had the picanha steak—also 11/10! We shared a sangria, and to top it off, they surprised us with cannolis on the house. Our waitress, Michelle, was attentive and so much fun. Plus, if you’re sitting outside and get chilly, they even have blankets. We’re still talking about it. We’ll definitely be back with friends!”

YinTang Spicy Hot Pot 4690 Convoy St #111, San Diego Chinese • $$

“Came here on a Thursday around 5pm which was perfect before the rush. For my first time, this place definitely hit the spot! It is not AYCE but rather you pay by lb. You pick out all of your toppings/meat, weigh it, and pick your broth. There is a pound minimum and the price goes by $13.99/lb.

This spot is perfect especially if you don't want to stuff yourself and just choose exactly how much you can eat (hence cheaper than AYCE). On top of that, if you can't finish it, you can take it home!!

The best part is their skewers!!! SOOOO FLAVORFUL! I ordered their gizzard, pork belly, and beef all mild.

All in all, for my first time trying Taiwanese Hot Pot, this would be absolutely perfect on a super cold day/when I'm feeling a little sick. Each bite and sip of the soup felt like a warm hug. 10/10”

“I haven't been so excited about coming back to a restaurant in a really long time. So we came in this morning because I was hungry and we wanted something quick to eat (we had an appointment in 30 minutes). Well, this was not the right place for it. This place is beautiful! The walls are covered in amazing art, it's also a gallery. The owners (who I assume are the ones that are running the place, I may be wrong) are so friendly and accommodating, the atmosphere is so laid back. It's a place to enjoy, not to rush through. We happened to have come in at the same time as another couple and decided to leave and get fast food so we could make it to our appointment. We let our host know since he was approaching us to take our order. I am writing this review to let everyone know of this wonderful place. They offer a wide vegetarian selection in their menu, and their drinks sounded lovely. I'm definitely coming back, I can't wait to try the Turkish coffee and the iced tea with mint!!!”

Going back home to Greek and generic Mediterranean versions of these foods will be hard. The in house made bread was just as good as the perfectly seasoned and flavorful meat. The coffee was perfectly matched by sweet but not too sweet baklava. The owner was humble and so nice. Please support this business if only for the fact that I’ll know where I’m going first when I get in to town; Istanbul Döner Kebab.

4 Good25 Reviews

“There was a time when this was my “go to”place for Italian food. Unfortunately after the first owners sold (back in the 80’s or 90’s I think) they went to a “conveyor oven” for cooking pizza. The people who bought Etna’s owned several other Italian restaurants around town and seemed to be successful. Unfortunately they took out a couple of “deck ovens” to streamline the kitchen, like their other restaurants, and quit cooking pizza in those ovens. What they didn’t understand was the pizza bread used to make Etna’s unique pizza was formulated to be cooked in a deck oven. It’s like the difference between a grilled cheese sandwich and a toasted cheese sandwich… it’s just not the same. The caramelization of the sugars in the dough enhanced the overall texture and taste of the pizza when cooked in a deck oven. I’ve lived in San Diego my whole life and have been going to Etna’s since 1976. Etna’s Pizza dough seemed to be the same when the new owners took over and when they changed the way they cooked it ruined the original flavor. I quit going as often as I used to and eventually after several owners later and never going back to using deck ovens the writing was on the wall. The last owners and employees were rude and unattentive. I was hoping they would return to using deck ovens for their pizza but they did not. I tried to explain the reasoning but was rebuffed. So now another San Diego institution has passed into history. The late night (open til 3:00am) seven days a week only Italian restaurant way back when is gone. It’s a shame this new generation will never know the flavors and history of some of these old and iconic family owned and operated businesses.”
