“Although we came primarily for the beer, the food did not disappoint. We ordered a flight of tasters which included a Black IPA, Belgian Dark, Double IPA, Baltic Porter and Red IPA. While all were true to style an tasted great, we felt compelled to purchase an additional pour of the Black IPA at the table and and to take away the Belgian Dark and Double IPA for later enjoyment. We will definitely return for both the food and beer. Well worth the stop if you're passing through Waimea.”

“We drove from Kona to visit this little tea shop and it was well worth it! I had the scenic point with watermelon boba and my husband had the watermelon fruit tea with lychee jelly. I can honestly say I’ve tried several other places on the island and Tea O’clock is tops! The scenic point is a jasmine tea, you could tell it was fresh. The flavor was absolutely beautiful! The watermelon fruit tea was just as you’d expect it should be. Nothing was watered down, only flavorful teas here!! I highly suggest this place!”

“Delicious! The best Kalbi ribs I’ve eaten in Hawaii and beyond. They know what they are doing in the kitchen here. I recommend the Kalbi and the meat jun. we also had an incredible side dish made with a local vegetable. One of our best meals!”

“We didn’t stay here, we only came for dinner at the restaurant, but the experience was great. The view is incredible, we watched the sunset and it was absolutely beautiful. Even with the wind, we were still very comfortable while eating. Everything was delicious and the service was very friendly. It’s definitely on the expensive side, but totally worth it.”

“Kawika was an amazing bartender/server. He kept our drinks full, kept us laughing, and was super attentive. He described the lobster fried rice and made it sound so good that we decided to order it. “I ordered the wor wonton min and it was loaded with veggies and won tons- no complaints! I also got a 2 choice plate with roast pork and beef broccoli and the rice noodle- could’ve had more beef broccoli on the plate but there was generous amounts of roast pork and noodles. Both ladies working behind the counter were patient, kind and courteous.”

“The hau tree got a huge upgrade when Mauna Kea remodeled. The kitchen is much larger, almaing meals quicker. And they changed the dinner menu to have a Mexican focus. We love Mexican food and this is really well done. Sinaloa chicken and the Tijuana Caesar are two of our favorites. And the location, right on the beach, has always been impossible to beat.”

“Underrated experience all around, in my opinion. This fit the vibe of my wife and I better than The Manta did during our stay at the Mauna Kea. It's relaxed but still polished with great atmosphere. The octopus pictured was great and also a much larger portion than expected. Copper Bar also served me the best burger I've had in Hawaii with local beef (not pictured). Great cocktails too. I was into the Tahitian limeade.”

“The views are stunning! Absolutely loved the scenery at this restaurant. The food was ok, but nothing special - it lacked a lot of seasoning. The only food item that was really spectacular was the Bombe Alaska.

It seemed they were understaffed. We had to ask for water a few times and our server was constantly running around but hardly had any time for us, although he was very kind and had good recommendations. I think each waiter had more than 10 tables to wait on... They were not properly staffed. We felt bad for him and it created a less than impressive service experience.”

“Not sure what others are having issues with...I thought the food, service, and atmosphere were awesome. The Volcano roll was absolutely amazing! I got the grilled prawns and pork belly fried rice. Everything was delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The prawns come out on its own little mini hot grill that stay super warm while eating the other portions of the meal! Would strongly recommend!”

“Food was great, I had a falafel platter. Andrew had a burger. We sat at the bar to avoid table wait time. I think last call was 7:45 and they cleaned up and turned lights out by 8. Pricey but that’s expected in a beach side resort in Hawai’i.”

“Had the best burger of my life today served up by fantastic, friendly people! My husband and I shared the OG with bacon and as soon as we took our first bite we were wishing we. had our own! We sat in the shade waiting for our order which was delivered and then it was explained how to eat it, Absolutely the best! We are here for 19 more days but may just have to make the drive back to Waimea again for another burger ~ we will order 2 this time!,”

“The food was delicious. Their pancakes were fluffy. The bacon and omelet were perfectly cooked. I discovered POG juice here (pineapple, orange, guava) juice here which was very tasty. This is a must try for breakfast.”

I enjoyed my Ironman and my husband enjoyed a modified Silverback. We were so glad we stumbled upon this place on our way back from the canyon to na Pali overlooks.”

“After a long morning at Waimea State Park, I picked Da Booze Shop because the name made me laugh. Well the jokes on me because the food, service, and atmosphere were stellar! I have always loved eating in Mom and Pop places because they always have the best food. I got the Mahi Katsu and had enough leftover for a snack. If you are traveling with kids this is a great place to eat. You can eat across the street at the park and let the kids play and expend some energy.”

“Good place for dinner after a day exploring Waimea Canyon. We ordered a veggie pizza for take out. The pizza was fresh and delicious. We enjoyed it.
However, we asked to 'substitute' a few toppings but were charged for 'substitutes' as 'extra toppings'. One pizza cost us $45+ tips. So, we paid for the toppings we never had on our pizza too. in this regard, make sure you check before paying.”
