“There is no competitor in Vancouver you can get handmade noodle and soup from the scratch under $10. Brisket was perfect and you can ask for lean meat. Noodle refill was $1.5? Per. It felt almost free. Some fried dishes are tough to chew as it won't cut well in your mouth. The Services....are sometimes non exist, but hey, we get the same services in most noodle places and this place is at least a lot cleaner. One sharble washroom might be a cons. “We had an amazing experience at Sushi Jin! It was my boyfriend’s birthday today, and we made a reservation in advance for their omakase. Both the chef and his wife were incredibly warm and friendly, which made the evening even more special. The ingredients were super fresh, and everything tasted delicious. We especially loved their wasabi and homemade ginger — such a nice touch! It was also a pleasure to watch the chef carefully prepare each dish — truly a beautiful and enjoyable experience. Since they only serve six guests at a time, it’s really quiet and private, which made it feel even more special. Highly recommend!“

“Okay… yes the price is high, but it’s worth every damn penny. I’m pretty cheap when it comes to going out, and this is probably the ONLY Japanese restaurant in Vancouver that I would spend 200+ on a dinner. Food quality is amazing, I’m somewhat of a fisherman and loves to foraging seafood, and the quality of seafood there is on par or even better than some seafood I caught myself. Oh and the service, I feel weird that I’m willingly paying 20% tip on a dinner. Guy’s giving me a whole biology lesson on the fish I’m eating, I’d just consider the tip as tutoring fee. 100% recommend, just send it, it’s worth it I promise.“

“Aug 31/25: It's been quite a while since I've been back, but as soon as I came through the doors, one of the owners remembered me! She was as sweet as I last remembered, and she let me know the other wonderful owner, the chef, accommodated my food request, which I really appreciate.

The food is also still as I remembered —delicious, fresh, and high in quality. I will be back sooner for sure! (We had dynamite combo and gomae.)

“What you see here is the three piece Mogo chicken rice bowl for $16. Like others have found, the chicken is perfectly battered and good sense of crunchiness. The shio garlic sauce I did not use because I found it too salty, especially when the chicken itself has been marinated in salt already. The sweet chilli sauce might make a better balance. Finally, The bowl is topped with the most delicious little kale salad lightly seasoned with a sesame dressing. It would be worthwhile to order the kale salad either on its own as a side, or with teishoku. Seating arrangements are limited, so best to keep your group size maximum at six. Even so, you’ll likely spend some time waiting for a table - consider takeout.“

Food and service was very pleasant and would definitely recommend! “I highly recommend this store! The staff are super friendly, and the food really hits the spot. I especially loved how they added a generous amount of vegetables to my noodles — that’s a big plus for me. They cooked my teriyaki beef noodles right in front of me, which not only shows their cleanliness but also gave me fun street food vibes. Loved the whole experience!“

“Weird experience here. My gf and I were ordering from Tom Sushi and using their website, we placed the order and upon arriving realized the order was placed at Akira Sushi. Very strange since neither of us heard or even viewed Akira Sushi/ their website. Both restaurants use a website host called “Code Fusion” to handle the online ordering. Either there was a glitch in the system or our order was rerouted to Akira. Regardless the sushi at Akira was really good apart from some bones in our salmon sashimi. But we were definitely very confused with what happened in the ordering process.“

they also give you a free island farms vanilla ice cream at the end of your stay, which is so nice! the servers are friendly and welcoming each time, excellent atmosphere and the decor is cute and cosy!

“I am back in Vancouver after 5 months of traveling through Asia and to avoid falling into a post traveling slump of sadness I have decided to review as many of Vancouver’s sushi places as I can this summer. My qualifications include having eaten sushi in Japan and being sushi obsessed. All jokes aside though I think that it is clear that I have no qualifications to do this whatsoever so obviously take everything I say with a grain of salt these are just my opinions. Duh. I also lean towards liking veggie rolls more than fish ones which I know is completely heinous to some people. I do love salmon and tuna rolls as well though (especially in Japan) but my reviews will probably be more helpful to fellow veggie roll lovers. That being said the first place I will be reviewing is Simply Sushi Bar! I stopped into this place quite randomly in need of a quick lunch before meeting a friend on broadway. This place did not disappoint. I got the avocado roll and the yam tempura roll and both were perfect! The avocado was nice and fresh, the tempura was also fresh and warm and the rice was great. The service was quick, exactly what I needed and the prices were very reasonable/ affordable. I cannot comment on any of their appetizers or seafood rolls as this was my first time visiting the restaurant but I would definitely come back to try some of the other rolls as they all looked delicious. They also had many combos on the menu that sounded good and a variety of bento boxes, noodles, rice bowls and non sushi options that also seemed yummy. Extensive menu which is nice. The inside of the restaurant is small and casual which I honestly love as it makes it the perfect spot for a quick lunch or dinner. Super glad I discovered this gem and would highly recommend! My apologies for not getting a photo, I was in a rush and it didn’t occur to me until it was too late. Will add when I come back to this place! Or for my next sushi review.“

The chef and staff were great and the open kitchen was cool to see. I had the dinner omakase and all 14 courses were great, with my favorite being the tuna! Very unique flavours, would recommend.“

“A lot of the time, the restaurant is only as good as the server. Hapa is a superior restaurant and my server was Shione! She recommended the Chipotle. I went with that and it was real tasty! How a server interacts with the customer is the most important part of the experience. She reacted as though she was rewarding me for going out to enjoy my food. “Standard menu for a casual sushi restaurant with many basic and special varieties of sushi, and bento, poke, teriyaki, noodles, etc, all fairly priced. Staff is very professional and nice, and the environment is relaxed. I got their veggie dinner bento (Bento C). It was your average no frills bento except for the tempura yam roll which was a thicker roll that also included other veggies like cucumber and avocado and a drizzle of sweet teriyaki sauce, instead of the plain yam roll usually included with veggie bento. Nothing fancy but nothing to complain about; perfect to satisfy my bento craving.“

“My friend got uni ramen, and there was no uni in the ramen. We asked server, she said sorry we don't have uni for today. We think you are supposed to tell the customer when they order, otherwise we paid the same amount and we couldn't get what we want. If you tell in advance, then we can choose another option.“

“We visited for the first time after the renovation, and they still serve delicious sushi rolls! The menu has expanded with lots of new options, and the portions are huge. Definitely recommend checking it out.

The only downside is the seating. The tables aren’t ideal for a family of five, and one side has a barrier that made it hard for my husband to eat comfortably. It would be great if they adjusted that layout or offered more family-friendly table options.“

I have tried a wide variety of dishes and they all have been very good! This evening, I went for the Assorted Sashimi and, as you can see on the picture, it was awesome, very fresh and very tasty! Also, their Gomae is delicious, so much so that I had two portions tonight! 😋“
