“Just tried Mama Said Hand Pies for the first time… I started with a maple cold brew. It was made like the employee really cared that I enjoyed it - carefully combined and stirred and not overpacked with ice like other places do so that you only get a few sips of coffee before it’s a cup of ice left. And the cold brew itself was very smooth. Then I got the spinach egg and cheese hand pie. I initially thought they looked kind of small but they’re super filling so I was pretty full after one. The flavor was so good and the crust was fresh and buttery and crispy. I also got the sausage gravy and egg hand pie which was heavenly. And even though I was completely stuffed after two, I did try the cherry hand pie and loved the almond glaze on top of it. Can’t wait to go back to try the other flavors!”

“Everything about Sal's is simply the best! We make trips up from Corning just to make a stop here. They have the best gluten free pizza around and their garbage wings are delicious! “Cool vibe with live music. Food was great. Order at counter and they bring out your food. Prices were reasonable except I feel kids meals were overpriced. Beer was cold and good. My only suggestion would be some other drink options. Soda, lemonade, something. There was only a small wine fridge with old fashioned black cherry soda, orange, ginger beer, some sletzer water. Some traditional coke/pepsi etc would be nice.”

“I’ve lived in Ithaca for 10 years now and I cannot believe I haven’t gotten here sooner. My guests from VT and I had an amazing breakfast. The menu is pretty standard for a diner, but the specials were truly unique and phenomenal. I had an omelette with chorizo and habanero cheese, amongst other veggies. Best omelette I’ve ever had, hands down. Only thing I can recommend to new visitors is to get there early; while we were waiting for a table, one of the four specials became unavailable, and as we were ordering our meals, we sold them out of a second special. I would definitely come back again and I wish I had sooner!”

“I drove down from Cape Vincent to meet one of my best friends from college who was in the area for a family wedding. I was completely blown away by my meal. The waitress was incredible. I had the Chilean sea bass and it literally melted in my mouth. The salad with fresh fruit and a raspberry vinaigrette was outstanding. We ordered coffee and I was brought a little tray with fresh whipped cream, as well as other delightful garnishes. Finally… the mile high carrot cake!! Pure bliss. Thank you for a truly memorable experience. And I was so grateful that we weren’t rushed. We don’t get to see each other frequently and it was a blessing to just spend time together.”

“We were in the mood for fish and chips and found Northstar Public House, one of the few places in Ithaca with a Gluten Free option. So glad we did! Hands down the best dinner we’ve had during our visit. The fish and chips were amazing, the mac and cheese was super tasty, and the mocktail Shy Violet was spot on. Our server was wonderful and made the whole experience even better.

The vibes are great too—reggae music playing when we walked in set the tone right away. If you’re looking for a spot with delicious food, friendly service, and Gluten Free options that don’t compromise on flavor, this place is a must!”

“Because of the comments in the reviews, we started the line in front of the door at 5:20 pm on a Sat. By opening time, there were10 people behind us. By 6 pm, the restaurant was full, including seating at the bar. There are only 6 two-tops, 6 seats at the bar and ?5 booths that can seat 6. They do take names and numbers to contact later arrivals when a table opens. Tonight, it was after 7 pm before one did.
We absolutely enjoyed our meal with an excellent 2006 Pomerol. There was a large lag before our main arrived, and I forgot to take a picture until we had already dug in. Service was friendly and efficient. The Beef Tartare was prepared classically and was delicious. The côte de boeuf was somewhat tough inn places, but the demi-glace was heavenly and made up for it. It was served on the rare side of med.-rare. I splurged on chocolate cake, and it was worth every calorie! (light and fluffy with excellent cocoa flavor). My husband loves Pedro Ximenez sherry, and deigned to eat it over vanilla ice cream. ;)”

Check out the shows playing there because it's very eclectic, so you can probably find something cool most nights!”

The shared spaces offer everything you didn't even know you needed and the guest rooms are spacious, private and luxurious. The bathrooms are well lit, stocked and feature showers that are not just beautiful but experiential. I loved the coffee and snacks near the front desk with their kind and helpful staff. It's high end without being stuffy and homey without being kitschy, the best of all worlds come together at Argos Inn!”

Kid-friendliness: The place is really kid friendly. They have special kids size ice cream. And an artificial cow stands in the hall which the kids really enjoy seeing. The place is opposite to botanical gardens so one can also take ice cream and go sit in the garden with kids

“We went in a few nights ago for our 3rd visit. They had lost power and when it came back on, they were swamped with everyone coming in. They honored their reservations and did the best they could!
