“I went to the original Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare with a close friend, back when the U-shaped counter sat behind the market. It remains by far the most expensive meal I’ve ever had, and in hindsight, it was worth it. More than 20 courses arrived, mostly seafood, and nearly everything felt light, fresh, and incredibly precise. The setting made it even more memorable because something so ambitious was happening behind an otherwise ordinary grocery store.

By the end of the wine pairing, I was inebriated enough that the final courses became a little hazy. The chef was intense and completely professional, but never performative. He was simply executing at the highest possible level and treating the meal with the seriousness its price demanded.

The experience seems to have evolved considerably since then, so take this review with a grain of salt. We absolutely loved the original version of this place. I walked out blown away and would highly recommend it to anyone prepared for the cost.“

“This is absolutely our new sushi spot in NYC. Went for my boyfriend's birthday because my usual spot was closed on the day. Beginning to end this was a phenomenal experience worth SO much more than they charge. The spot is subtle and well decorated and feels like a secret no one else is in on. There's a lovely seating area when you arrive where you can order a drink before being seated for your dining at the sushi bar.

We had 4 people to one chef, and three wonderful women attending to absolutely every other thing. Received an excellent sake recommendation, and immediately started in on the 17 course omakase. Each piece was beautifully crafted right in front of us with delicacy and precision that felt like it was out of a film. Truly truly delicious, fresh pieces flown in from Japan and seasoned in unexpected but beautiful ways. We loved every second of it. The chef was even attentive enough to notice that my boyfriend was left-handed, so he angled the nigiri at the proper angle for him to pick up. The attention to detail of everything in this place was amazing.

Because it was my boyfriend's birthday, and the end of the omakase menu they made him a beautiful little sashimi don with a teddy bear candle in it. So cute and thoughtful!

For a long time I've been a Gari devotee, but I've been entirely converted. In addition to excellent quality sushi, this was a whole experience that felt intimate and authentically Japanese. To get that kind of experience for such an unbelievably reasonable price is not something I thought I'd ever experience in NY. So glad we found this place and we will definitely be back! Cannot recommend enough!“

“The food at Tuome definitely was super delicious. We got the restaurant week menu, which was a decent amount of food. The deviled eggs in particular were very tasty, with the chili crisp adding a lot of nuance to the classic dish. The snow crab noodles also stood out as incredibly buttery and good. I would absolutely come back and recommend this restaurant to others for the food quality. It felt like a lovely Chinese American meal.

On service, the waiters and manager were extremely nice, but it was a little lacking for a Michelin star. Only 1 additional course, no takeaway goodie bags, and the restaurant itself did not give a fine dining atmosphere. Dress code seemed to be maybe a step below business casual. Nothing to complain about, but I wouldn’t write home about it either.“

The restaurant blends Buddhist philosophy with royal vegetarian cuisine inspired by the Qing Palace. It was my first time trying a full vegetarian tasting menu, and I was impressed by how flavorful and creative every dish was. The mushroom dishes stood out the most, especially the Stichotas japonicus with cucumber sauce, the pan-seared boletus with green millet, and the Nepal mushroom quinoa with pepper sauce. Each course felt balanced and intentional—low oil, low sugar, and focused on natural taste. Even traditional dishes like Buddha Jumps Over the Wall and zhajiang noodles were reimagined beautifully. The dessert, called “Nectar of the Core,” was light and refreshing. Dining at Bodai feels like a calm, thoughtful journey through color, texture, and flavor. We shared the following dishes (nearly sampling all their vegan options): - Potato Salad: very refreshing, perfect for a hot summer day - Pan Con Tomate: good, subtle flavor - Sunsweet Melons: refreshing mix of melon and peaches - Blistered Peppers: good but not my favorite - Soft Scrambled Tofu: delicious, interesting mix of textures - Cornbread French Toast: our favorite dish! - Cinnamon Roll: HAGS offered this on the house! “The restaurant is inside a gallery which is a pretty cool concept. Tasting menu started off with a really delicious bite of the sweet nori. It was refreshing and light and a great way to start the meal. The artichoke which was a doughnut with truffle inside was very heavy and not that enjoyable. The focaccia bread was excellent and airy and the tomato butter was absolutely amazing. The yellowtail was refreshing with plenty of citrus components on the plate. The halibut was cooked to perfection, super light and sauce was flavorful. I really enjoyed the Iberia pork, it was very tender and all the diff sauce and flavors worked well. The 36 month Comte cheese was a delicious dessert, not too sweet and the cheese was so umami. I found the peach dessert to just be ok, flavors were a bit odd for me. Service was good but I found it was a bit too much they kept trying to get us to do the add-ons and order more wine and extras.

Overall a pretty solid meal though there were some misses for me.“

“Got to enjoy the exceptional tasting menu just two days after they opened. The inventiveness at work here is matched by the execution. While the cuisine is much different, the sheer delight of it reminded me of my first time years ago at Charlie Trotter's. We went back the next day just to sit at the bar after a show and enjoy the unusual, and unusually good, wine-based cocktails.

“This is my friends go to place and now one of mine as well, with good reason. I was here a few time when they were right on 42nd Street and am loving the new spot on 45th Street. The food never disappoints from the apps, to the sides, to of course the steak. These days I am usually at the bar and when I am lucky Tyler is my bartender. Always a smile, always attentive, professional, and a great mixologist. Hard to pick favorites but I am a huge fan of the baby lamp chops when they have them and the lobster-crab cake as well.“

The table next to me accidentally spilled their drink and splashed me a little bit, and though this was neither the table or staffs fault, the staff gave me a glass of wine and extra dessert on the house to apologize for the inconvenience. “My friend and I were looking forward to a nice leisurely lunch. The restaurant was not busy, the servers were constantly pushing and pushing us to order. It was really awful. When you spend that kind of money you don't expect to be rushed and pushed. When we declined dessert the check was brought immediately. We had to request another glass of wine each, it was never offered if we wanted anything else. We sat and drank our wine and was told by the server that they had to get ready for the dinner crowd. The restaurant was not busy and once we left that table could have been redressed in a flash. When I meet my friends we always choose Capital Grill at Rockefeller Center for the quality of food and service. This was positively the worse experience we have had there. Such a disappointment.“

Service: The servers are nice, they gave you good recommendations. A little bit busy as usual, but they try their best to accommodate! Also, they gave us free shots because we get along with the servers. Food: All that we ordered was delicious, small servings tho but the taste of the food was good! FALAFEL PLATTER: omg the hummus that comes with it are so good! Silky and perfect with the falafel and pita that comes with it. It is good for sharing or even by yourself! BURATTA: the cheese is soft and delicious. It comes with bacon or ham? I'm not sure but it tastes good with the burrata. CALAMARI: we were sad when it came cause we thought it was fried but man it was so good, it was grilled and it taste like a ceviche. EGGPLANT SCHNITZEL: the fried eggplant is so good and not over fried so the softness of the eggplant was retained. FROZEN PASSION FRUIT DAQUIRI: omg it was so good and refreshing, but hits you at the end! LOL Price rating: 8/10, it was not that bad for the price. The food was great. As someone who is constantly chasing the best burgers in New York City, I had to see if the burger Vogue called the “Birkin of burgers” lived up to the hype. It absolutely did. Without question, one of the best burgers I’ve ever had.

What made the experience even more memorable was meeting Chef Angie. She was incredibly kind, humble, and gracious—it genuinely felt like meeting a celebrity. Watching her personally visit tables and connect with guests spoke volumes about the care she puts into both her food and her restaurant. Every single member of the staff was warm, attentive, and delivered an exceptional level of hospitality that made us feel truly welcomed.

“A few weeks ago, I had such a wonderful experience here for lunch with my two-year-old daughter and a friend who was visiting from Ireland. We had the pleasure of meeting Jessie, who could not have been nicer. She was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and went above and beyond to make my daughter feel special by giving her a cookie, crayons, and a coloring book in a St. Regis bag.

We really enjoyed our lunch, but Jessie and the entire staff that day truly made our experience exceptional. It’s those little touches that make such a difference. We will definitely be back for lunch. 😊“
