“We had the pleasure of visiting the Omakase Room for our anniversary, and we were blown away. The service was genuine and kind. Our chefs were clearly passionate at their craft. The meal was superb, with generous servings of rare delicacies like uni, sturgeon roe, and black throat sea perch. And to my surprise---a selection of shou pu-erh tea on their beverage menu!

If there was a downside at all it was that the portions were TOO generous (is that even a downside??). Definitely the place to go if you want to eat your fill and have a special evening.“

I appreciated a lot the rice/fish ratio, as rice is not too prominent allowing you to test several options without feeling overwhelmed.
The tartare and uni (sea urchin) in particular are a must, very fresh and yummy.“

“I discovered this place online about a year ago and have been a repeat customer ever since. I've done a lot of exploring on their menu and have never been disappointed. Everything is fresh, flavorful & delicious. I'm no foodie, but I know these guys keep me coming back. AND their delivery packing is so freaking adorable!! “Came here twice for the nigiri omakase experience and had a great time! It is very worth the price and reminds me of sushi in Japan. The fish is so fresh, melts in your mouth, and seasoned with great combination of flavors. I went to this place randomly one day cuz it was close to me and let me tell you it has become one of my favorite places ever the food is 10/10 my favorite dish is the Thai fried rice it’s soooooo good. “I had high expectations from Planta, but it didn’t quite land for me. That said, it might have been because we got takeout, which can sometimes affect the overall experience.

The baos were absolutely amazing—definitely the highlight of the meal and something I’d go back for on their own. The sushi roll (I don’t remember the exact one) was fairly mid and didn’t stand out much.

The 1000-layer crispy potato dish was fine; I’m not a big potato fan, but my friends seemed to enjoy it more than I did.

Overall, it’s worth trying at least once, especially for the baos, but I didn’t fully love the experience.“

“Best Sushi Restaurant on the planet. Not only was all the food superior than any other Sushi restaurant I've been to. My family and I had a feast.(I mean all the food was good). Very reasonable prices as well. The most astonishing fact about this restaurant was the host (Quam) his amazing knowledge of food and customer service was unlike any other. The Ice cream desert was mind blowing. You don't have to take my word for it, but I guarantee you, you won't find another Sushi restaurant in the city of Chicago as good this one. “My 1st time going so I tried almost everything. I had the raw & cooked sushi. The raw was very fresh. The only thing I didn’t like was the taste of the ginger, left strange taste after eating. Other than that it was quick and easy process, no 1 rushes You to decide what You want to pick. Only about 10 seats all lined up in front of window so Unless You plan to sit & eat quickly just get it to go. They have different size trays so You decide how much You want“

My fiancé tried the pad thai with shrimp on one visit and the basil shrimp fried rice on another, and both dishes were full of flavor and so satisfying. “Really incredible place with great vibes and awesome food. We did the lucky roll and got the chef’s choice and it was both beautiful and delicious. All the rolls we selected were fantastic. We’re kind of basic though.

Also, let’s be honest, anything is better than forcing a gorilla to make sushi for humans. It was a neat trick, yeah. But I’m surprised that establishment lasted as long as it did.

The food for the price is excellent. While we have not dined in a while they had BYOB which we liked for buying a sake or wine and bringing it. Seems like a family business and staff is prompt, helpful and attentive.“
